Chapter 5

02:42, 21 May 2018

I ended up back in my room as I walked up to the bed and took a seat.  I felt full for once, which is something that I didn't feel in a long time.  I looked out the window again, as I saw the sun starting to peek out through the dark blanket in the sky.  The horizon changed from a dark blue, to a orangeish red, as the yellow sun grew through the window.  I started to see what was really outside of the mantion.  I got up as I looked back out through the window, seeing a small garden, with some type of fountain in it.  I sighed as I thought to myself. "Huh, that must be their garden" I said to myself, as I looked around some more.  I didn't hear anyone behind me, but Yuma spoke to stop the silence. "Do you want to take a peak at it?" he asked, as I turned around quickly. "Uh, sorry. I was just looking around a little bit" I said, hopeing he wouldn't take any blood from me.  Yuma sighed as he spoke again. "It's alright. I'm not supposed to make you work, but if your interested.  You are going to be working with me on it, so do you want to get a feel for it again?" he asked, as I looked back at the guarden through the window. "Sure, I'll look" I said, as I walked away from the window, and followed Yuma outside.

We walked into the garden, as the plants surrounded us.  My eyes widdened with enjoyment as I looked through the whole thing.  I got a whiff of the fresh plants, as their sent entered my nose.  It smelt familuar to me, but I couldn't think of it at first.  I walked through to look at each tomato plant, as we stayed silent.  I tried of thinking of what this reminded me of.  Finally, the memory of working with my dad on the orchard came to my mind.  I sighed as I looked over at the plants in sadness.  Yuma looked over at me as he sighed. "So what do you think of it?" he asked, as I looked at my hands. I stayed silent as I spoke with a shakey tone. "It makes me think of home. Back at the orchard.  The plants smell the same, which is what brought back the memory" I said, as I started to feel tears down my cheeks.  I thought I was being left alone, until Yuma pulled me into a hug, no question of asking first.  His arms wrapped around, as they tightened over me, keeping me close to him.  "It hurts a bit" I said, through the tears, not caring that he was seeing me cry.  Yuma placed a hand on my head, as he rubbed it up and down. "I know, but it's going to be ok" he said, as he calmed me down.  It felt nice to have someone there, like he was doing right now.  I took a deep breath as I spoke again, now starting to calm down. "It makes me miss home, wherever it was" I said, knowing that I could never go back. And if I did, I would have no one to take care of me.

Yuma pulled back from me as he looked over at the plant.  He picked off an old one as he sighed. "I got to pick these tomowor" he said, more to himself then me.  He stopped twirling it in his hand as he looked at me. "Tomowor, we're going to have you work on the guarden with me.  Would you want to pick the tomatoes, as I tend to the rest of the vegetables?" he asked, as I nodded. "Yeah, they might be just like apples. I bet I could take care of them" I said, feeling confident about it.  Yuma smiled as he looked back at the plants. "Alright, your going to help me with these.  I'll start you off with the tomatoes, and then when you got the feel for them. I'll have you helping me with the rest of the guarden.  Sounds good?" he asked, as I gave him a nod.  "Sounds very good" I said as I turned to the water fountain at the end of the guarden.  It was a nice fountain with a lion on it.  The water poured out of the lion and into the bowl under it.  Both Yuma and I were silent for a few minutes as he broke at it. "Hey Skylar, did you just grow apples, or did you grow other things?" he asked, grabbing my attention.  I smiled as I spoke. "I just grew apples, but I'm intrested in other fruits and vegetables as well" I said, with a cheerful voice.  Yuma looked at me, while he smiled. "This is good'" he said aloud, but more to himself then to me.  I looked at him confused.  "What?" I asked, as he looked back at the tomatoes.   Yuma snapped out of his gase as he looked at me. "Oh I was saying it's good that you know how to take care of plants. It's hard taking care of all these all by myself" he said standing up.  I smiled as I stood up with him. "I bet. It was a family thing on the orchard" I said, as I looked at the tomatoes.  I sighed as I held a leaf.  "If only I could see that orchard one last time" I said, more to myself.

I noticed Yuma watching me while I examined the plant.  Everything was silent, as he sighed and started to mess with the dead ends of the plants.   I looked over as he started to pull off another dead end to one of the vines.  After the fifth end, he pulled off a little tomato, and examined it.  He handed the tomato to me, as he spoke. "Test it for me" he said, as I looked over. I took the tomato as I ate it, chewing it slowley.  My eyes widdened in awe as I looked at him.  I swallowed the chewed up tomato, as I smiled. "Wow, that's good.  I never had something like that in a few years" I said, as I started to bring my excitement up. Yuma laughed as he shook his head. "It's going to be fun watching you garden" he said, with a few chuckles.   I smiled as I looked up at the sky, seeing the sun shine through the sky. The light blue sky was mixing with different shades of blue, with the white clouds that drifted across it. The clouds were still white, which ment that it was still going to be a nice day.  I heard the breese ruffle against the plants, as the cool breeze brushed though my hair, and it passed through to the mantion.  It felt good as I stood there, breathing in the air.  I heard Yuma chuckle as he spoke. "I bet it's been a while since you were out of there" he said, in between chuckled.  I opened my eyes as I looked over at him. "Sorry, I was distracted. Did you say something?" I asked, as he chuckled again. "No, you seem to like the sun.  Has it been a while since you got to stand out like this?" he asked, as he stood up to look at me.

I nodded as I huffed, then looked back at the plants.  "The only sun I had was through the window in my cell.  It barly came in it too" I said, as I sighed a bit.  Yuma turned to me as he spoke. "Did you ever tried to escape?" he asked as I shook my head.  "No. Other's did, but I was too young to understand. Then, by the time I was old enough to, they had the whole routine and rules drilled into me" I said with a sigh.  I started to think of the boy they brought in when I left with the Mukami's.  I thought of the conversation when I told him to stop trying to run, and what he said to me after.  "It's because you gave up" his voice ran through my head as I huffed.  I heard movement, as a hand was placed on my sholders.  "You still think of that place?" Yuma asked, as I nodded.  "Yeah. I had no thought of getting out of there like I did.  I thought I was about to die there" I said, as the air went silent.   Yuma sighed as he spoke. "I think we had enough of the guarden today.  Let's go back inside and get washed up shall we?" he said, as he handed me his hand.  I looked at him confused as I sighed. "I don't understand what you want me to do" I said, as I stood up on my own.  Yuma sighed as he spoke. "I was gesturing to help you up, but I see you can stand up just fine" he said with a huff.  "Sorry" I said, feeling sad about it.  Yuma shook his head. "No, don't be.  It's not  your fault" he said in a symplathetic tone of voice.   He looked over at the house, as he gestured me to follow. "Come on. It's getting late" he said, as he started to walk towards the house.  I followed him as we entered the mantion for the night.

I walked in seeing Azusa and Ruki sitting in the livingroom in silence.  They weren't doing anything, and Ruki didn't have his book open.  They were just sitting there, like they just ended a good conversation.  Ruki looked over at us as he cracked a smile. "How'd you enjoy Yuma's guarden Skylar?" he asked, in a chipper voice.  I cracked a smile as I spoke. "It's nice, reminds me of home.  Nice and confortable" I said with a smile.  Ruki smiled at me as he nodded. "That's good to hear. I'm glad your starting to feel comfortable now" he said, as he sighed.  Azusa looked at me as he spoke. "Hows your wrists?" he asked, as I looked at him in shock. "Oh I didn't notice, I guess their fine" I said, as I smiled.  He smiled as he spoke. "That's good to hear.  I'm glad your doing better" he said, as I stayed silent but nodded.   I stayed silent as I turned around to look at the sun through the window again.

The room was silent, as Yuma sighed. "Kou's working today?" he asked, as Ruki nodded. "Yep, he couldn't get out of it again."  Yuma sighed as he sat on the couch. "Boy, his boss is working him hard.  He's going to be tired after work" he said, as I looked back and forth from Yuma to Ruki. "What does Kou do for work?" I asked, hopeing they would tell me.  Ruki opened his book again, as he turned the page. "He works as a Idol. He's quite popular around town, especally in school" he said, as he kept of reading.  I nodded but kept quiet as I sighed. "I'm going back in my room. Sorry for bothering your reading Ruki" I said as I started to walk out of the room.  Ruki's voice stopped me in the process. "Wait Skylar.  How are you feeling today?" he asked, as I thought about it. "A lot better. Not so sick today" I said, with a smile.  Ruki looked at me before speaking for a second time. "Would your care if the Sakamaki's come over tonight?" I shook my head as I sighed. "No that's fine. I don't care" I said as I smiled.  Ruki nodded as he sighed. "Alright, I'll give them a call. I do want you to join us for a bit though. Their's someone that you haven't met yet" he said, as I nodded. "Ok, I'll come down.  Just let me know when they get here.  Until then, I'll be in my room if that's fine" I said, as Ruki nodded. "I don't mind. If Yuma doesn't need you for anything else" he said, as we both looked at Yuma.  Yuma shook his head. "No, we're good" he said, as I nodded. "Alright. I'll be in my room" I said, as I walked through the mansion, and in my room. I sat by my window as I looked out, seeing the night sky, as it started to blacken.

Later that night

I was still sitting in my room, as I heard the front door shut, and people talking down stairs. I was looking out the window, seeing the night sky, and the moon that peeked through the window.  Clouds drifted across the sky, giving a shadowing figure to the moon, adding more features to the sky.  I started to find it intresting how the night was, and the outside took different effects to the day and night.  Ever since I left that shelter, I've started to become intrested in the outside world, more and more.  I heard the front door open, as new voices entured the room.  "That must be the Sakamaki's" I thought to myself, as a knock came on the door.  "Come  in" I said, as Kou opened the door, and popped his head in.  "Skylar.  You ready to socalize?" he asked, in a chipper tone. I nodded as I took one last glance at the moon. Finally, I took a deep breath and left, following Kou to the living room.

We entured the room which was packed at this point.  A man with dark purple hair sat by Ruki, as they talked and sipped on tea.  Next to the couch was a vampire, with blond hair that lied in the corner, with his eyes shut and ear buds in.  Over where Yuma and Azusa was were three boys that looked alike.  One had red hair, green eyes and a hat. The second one had the same green eyes and red hair, but he wore a scarf around his neck. The third vamp had purple hair and purple eyes, while clenching a creepy teddy bear to his chest. Finally, a vampire with white hair, and red eyes stood in the corner, by the entrance not participating in any of the conversations.  Ruki took a sip of his tea as he turned to me.  "Oh good. Your joining us" he said, as he sat up straighter.  He motioned me to walk over to him, which I did slowly.  I remember all of these vampires, looking at me like I had no purpose when I was at the shelter.  I finally made it to Ruki as I stood by him.  "Looks like she's still scared" the one with the red hair and red scarf said, with a smile.  I turned towards everyone as I felt shaking in my legs. "It's ok Skylar. I won't let them bite you" Ruki whispered to me as he stood up. "As you seen her in that shelter. This is Skylar, and she's our new Eve" he said, as I looked at him.  Ruki cracked a smile as he looked at me, then went back to the family.  He started by pointing to the one sleeping on the couch. "That's the oldest Shu" he said, as Shu just opened his eyes to look at me, then he cracked a smile and fell back asleep.  Ruki then gestered to the man he was talking with. "This is the next in line.  His names Reiji" he said, as Reiji took a sip of his tea. "It's a pleasure to meet you not in chains" he said as he peeked a creepy smile at me.  The smile looked as if he was planning something that involes me.

Ruki pointed over to the three identical looking boys. "Those are the triplets.  The one in the hat is the oldest, Laito. The one with the bear is Kanato and the one with the scarf is the youngest Ayato." Laito and Kanato just watched me with silence.  Kanto gave me this creepy stare as he peeked from behind the teddy bear, not saying a word.  Finally Ruki tapped me as he pointed to the one in the corner.  He had white hair and red eyes like Reiji, only his was more haunting. "That's the youngest Subaru" he said, as Subaru looked at me.  His beating red eyes, kept his gaze on me, as he kept quiet.  It made me feel like I was back in my cell, just a human that was about to die.  The room went back down to their chatter as I watched it all.  "It's nice to see you not in chains, Skylar" Reiji said, as it grabbed my attention. I looked at him as he smiled, his red eyes giving me a creepy look, just like Subaru gave me.  I nodded to show that I was listening.  "Yeah, I feel a little bit better" I said, as Ruki cut in next.  "She's doing a whole lot better now.  Gave her some more blood then started to feed her more.  If she keeps it up, she'll be attenting school with us."  Reiji looked at me in surprise. "Oh, that's going to be great.  Hopefully you'll be able to wander the halls alone" he said, as he took a sip of his tea.  I got a strange feeling like he was planning something.  Ruki turned to look at him funny." I want fangs out of her for now" he reminded Reiji. Reiji smiled as he looked at Ruki. "I'll keep them out just fine" he said, which calmed Ruki down a bit.

Ruki turned to the blond girl in the corner. "Yui come here" he said, as she did his command. "Whats up?" she asked, as Ruki gestured her to look at me. "This is Skylar. Skylar this is the sacraficial bride Yui.  She was our Eve before you" he said as I looked at Yui.  She cracked a smiled as she spoke. "Nice to meet you Skylar" she said, in a cheerful voice.  Ruki looked up at us as he spoke. "Why don't you both go outside or something.  Have fun just the two of you" he said, as Yui nodded.  "Alright, I''ll keep an eye on her. Come on Skylar" Yui said as she pulled me out of the room and outside.
