Malik kept his distance from his friends, it seemed Elena was not involving Bonnie into anything supernatural but somehow she left her out of everything else. She seemed saddened by it, especially since she lost Caroline and now as a vampire she had no idea how to handle it.

To stay away from the drama Malik deemed it better to stay with Bonnie, but Jeremy tried to keep him updated on as much as he could over the days events, he felt happy he wasn't dragged into the drama with the werewolves.

But obviously he couldn't fully stay away, that's why he wasn't surprised when the day of volunteering to help out with the masquerade ball him and Bonnie were ready to dive back into their social life, even bonnie got a message from Elena, but as they were collecting their stuff Malik got a call from Jeremy.

"Hey man, what's going on?"

"Hey, can I ask a question?"

"Fire away"

"What do you know of werewolves?"

Malik was silent for a second, he began thinking of how much should he disclose to Jeremy. Knowing that Tyler Lockwood was potentially one made Jeremy curious and he began looking into it.

"A few things actually, depends on what is it you want to know"

"Is it true they have to kill someone in order to trigger their curse?"

"Yes"

"So they can't control it?"

"Some wolves can, depending on their bloodline, or at least they are aware of themselves while most just blacks out."

"That is so cool"

"To a certain extent yes" smiled the warlock. "If you have any questions just text me, I'll have to go to the Lockwood's for the volunteering thing."

"Awesome man, I suppose I'll see you there"

Hanging up the phone Malik just continued to collect his stuff when he turned to a Bonnie who was just standing there staring at him with her hands on her hips.

"Care to fill me in?"

"Werewolves are in town, nothing for us to worry about."

"Why is that?"

"Because they only hunt vampires" shrugged the boy making Bonnie raise an eyebrow.

They got to the Lockwood mansion and both Bennetts began to help out. They were outside carrying boxes when Elena noticed them and walked to the duo

"You're here.

"We're here" came to Bennett chorus.

Elena took some candles out of the box Bonnie was carrying but noticed how Bonnie glanced around the yard, looking for something making the brunette frown slightly and speak up.

"Caroline's not coming. I told you."

"Just making sure."

"Eventually, you're gonna have to talk to her."

"Could you make it a little less obvious you're on her side?"

"There are no sides, Bonnie" argued Elena immediately but Bonnie did not hesitate for a second.

"Come on! Since Caroline became a vampire, we barely see each other. Losing Caroline was bad enough; I didn't think I'd lose you too."

Elena remained silent for a moment before she gave Bonnie a determined look and lowered her voice.

"Come with me"

"Where?"

"Not here. Some place quiet. We have to talk"

She held her hand out, which Bonnie took and they walked away but Malik just waved them off indicating he wasn't going. Thanks to Jeremy he was mostly up to date anyway and he did not need more drama at that moment. He continued to walk around and work. As he went about he noticed Stefan and another guy he hasn't seen before talk he just heard him saying something to Stefan:

"Not a problem."

But as he walked away and accidentally run into Malik who looked up but for a moment he saw a short vision of the man and Elena kissing in the bed.

"Excuse me" spoke Mason and walked away while Malik continued to watch Mason as he looked away. A strange look spreads across his face, which Stefan noticed immediately and walking over to him spoke with a worried tone.

"What's the matter? Are you okay?"

"When I touched him, I saw something" answered Malik unsure of what just happened still trying to piece it together.

"Like a vision?"

"I saw Elena. He was kissing her" answered Malik scrunching up his nose in disgust.

"No, Mal, Elena wouldn't kiss... "they both began to consider what was said for a minute before Stefan's face changed from confused to understanding. "You didn't see Elena, you saw—"

"—Katherine" finished his sentence the warlock and walked off immediately looking for his sister.

Malik walked off immediately looking for his sister. When he finally found her he was just about to explain everything that happened when Damon got to them and grabbing both of their arms began to drag them away. Stefan caught up to them as well the two Bennetts weren't pleased at all but to avoid attention they went with them until they've arrived to a more secluded area.

"Okay. This is as far as I go" announced Bonnie and pulling her arm out of Damon's grip they all stopped and the vampire let go of the witches. "What do you want?"

"A favour."

"Like that's gonna happen" scoffed Bonnie immediately.

"I know how you feel about helping us out, but since Malik's the one that linked Mason with Katherine, we finally have an opportunity to get an upper hand on both of them so, just hear us out" tried Stefan immediately looking at the twins.

"Pretty please" added Damon.

"I'm listening" answered Bonnie looking at them but Stefan's phone began to ring, making him look at it then back at everyone spoke in apologetic tone.

"I have to fill Elena in on what's going on" turning his attention to his brother continued. "Can you play nice, please?"

"I guess" answered Damon not taking his eyes if the duo before turning to Malik began explaining the situation. "All you have to do is touch Mason Lockwood again to see if he gave Katherine the moonstone."

"My visions don't work like that Damon."

"How inconvenient. Although, let's talk about that little witchy juju thing you two do with me. You know, the fun one where my brain bursts into flames? What is that?"

"That's us giving you an aneurysm. Your blood vessels go pop, but you heal quickly; so, I do it over and over again" answered Bonnie with a small smile on her face.

"Is it vampire specific?"

"It'd work on anyone with a supernatural healing ability" responded Malik not liking where this conversation was going.

"Good. Good, good."

"Damon, I'm not gonna help you hurt him" Bonnie was the first to speak up.

"Mason Lockwood's a werewolf, Katherine's evil. They're the bad guys. Really? You're gonna play morality police with me right now? Let me put it to you another way: they're a threat to Elena. So you, witch, are gonna get over yourself and help us."

Malik was about to snap at that, Damon trying to manipulate them just because they cared for Elena, but before he stepped in Stefan came back and immediately tried to defuse the situation.

"Yeah, he meant that as a question with a "please" on the end."

"Absolutely"

Bonnie looked at Malik and while Bonnie seemed to agree the two of them walked away after Damon came up with a plan to capture the werewolf.

Bonnie and Malik walked away Bonnie noticed how Malik kept looking at his bracelet.

"You okay?"

"Yeah, just been thinking. This ability has only started to manifest lately... I wonder if I could boost it a little."

"What are you thinking?"

"I could temporarily use my reserves to strengthen my mental powers... but that means I won't be able to perform spells for at least a day, just very small ones."

"We can just keep it between us" reassured Bonnie. "Let's go."

Malik remained in the back just watching the event unfold in front of him. He watched as Mason walked down the front steps and towards his jeep.

"Hey, can you move your van? I'm blocked in."

He noticed Bonnie trying to remove a table from the back of the truck and immediately run over to help her with a smile on his face.

"Hey, how did you get stuck doing that by yourself?"

"All the guys bailed. Something about draft picks. I don't know, I don't speak that language."

"Here, let me give you a hand."

He grabbed the table and started to pull it out. Bonnie looked around and seeing Malik giving her thumbs up she turned her gaze at Mason.

She used her aneurysm spell on him and almost immediately he grabbed his head and yelled in pain, slowly falling down onto his knees. Malik felt bad for him but deep down he knew. Mason was working with Katherine and she was adamant on wreaking havoc.

Damon walked past Bonnie and kneed Mason in the face knocking him out. Mason fell to the ground, unconscious. Damon opened the passenger door and signalled for Bonnie and Malik to get in.

Stefan quickly took Mason's keys out of his pockets and threw them to Damon. The Bennett duo got into Mason's jeep while the two vampires put Mason in the trunk of the jeep. Stefan walked back to the mansion, Damon got in and drove off with the witches back to the Salvatore Boarding house.

Damon was carrying Mason over his shoulder while Malik was bringing in Mason's bag, he carried it to a chair and dropping it down looked at the vampire while he placed Mason down.

"Here's his bag. As requested."

"Okay, grab that corner."

"Why are we doing this?" questioned Bonnie while she watched the boys laying out a blanket over the carpet.

"Because I don't want to stain the carpet"

"I knew you were gonna say something like that" groaned Malik shaking his head,

"Judging again" pointed out Damon but continued with his work.

They pulled a blanket over the rug fully then the vampire walked over to Mason's bag.

"He's not gonna be out much longer" warned Malik as he stood in front of the wolf.

Damon took the chains from Mason's bag and he was highly amused by it and looked over at the man.

"Whoa. Looks like this guy's used to being tied up."

Bonnie looked at Malik who placed his hands on the side of Mason's head and began to focus, his eyes turned golden again but this time, Bonnie could see it clearly: it was like all the starts and the universe appeared in it as well, gently lighting it up.

"What are you doing?" came the confused voice of Damon but Malik began to slowly dive in and answered quietly.

"Diving... looking for that moonstone you wanted me to find."

"Oh, good, yeah. Find out if he gave it to Katherine, and find out where she is. And find out what they're gonna do with it once they get it."

Damon began tying Mason down into the chair while Malik fully concentrated and the images slowly began to appear in his head, he immediately began to narrate his images.

"Somewhere small. Dark. There's water."

"Like a sewer?" asked Damon before Malik continued.

"No. It's a well."

"Why would it be in a well?"

"We told you, we only get what we get" remrpimanded Bonnie immediately but she began to realise what Malik was talking about.

Malik felt the images coming but there was something there lurking, baiting him which made him even more curious. As he looked in deeper he saw the moonstone in a box until everything disappeared but in the darkness there it was... just the moonstone. Looking at it he raised his hands and touched it.

In that moment rapid images feelings and sensations ran through him making him scream out for a moment until he suddenly got pulled out when Mason grunted and grabbed Malik by the wrist. He gasped and was surprised as he got pulled back but he couldn't get his hand out, that was when Damon pulled Mason's hand off of him and Malik started to walk away.

"That's it. That's all I got."

"Hey, judgy twins!" called out Damon, making both of them turn around. "Thank you."

They walked out of the room, leaving Damon alone with Mason. Bonnie was still thinking about what Malik said while the boy was still in thought with the images he saw. They were quickly walking out none of them paying too much attention when Caroline came up from the basement.

"Hey!"

They both stopped and looked at her, Bonnie still seemed uncomfortable and nervous while Malik gave her a big grin.

"Hi. How's your mom? Elena filled me in on everything" responded Bonnie trying to make some effort.

"I'm gonna take her home tonight."

"Caroline... Never mind, we've got to go."

Bonnie grabbed Malik's hand and they began to leave again when Caroline called after them.

"Did you find the moonstone thing?"

"Not yet. Hey, do you remember that old well where we used to play when we were kids? It's in the woods. Do you remember where?"

"On the edge of the old Lockwood property. Why?"

Bonnie pulled out her phone and texted Stefan about this before she responded to Caroline.

"I think that's where Mason is keeping the moonstone. We got to go."

"Well, I can come with you" offered the blonde.

"No, it's okay" responded Bonnie but immediately he got nudged by Malik and noticing Caroline's face she saw that the blonde was honestly hurt and disappointed. Bonnie thought for a moment before she smiled and spoke again: "Sure."

"Okay" Caroline smiled and they walked out of the house together.

As they were walking in the woods Malik just smiled as Caroline and Bonnie made small talk, it was better for them to slowly ease back into their friendship, until he got a call. Looking at it was Jeremy again which made him raise an eyebrow but responded regardless.

"Hello?"

"I found something in Ric's box of stuff."

"Ooh. What is it?" came the voice of Damon from the background which made him roll his eyes.

"I did a search on my phone. It's a plant. Aconitum Vulparia. It grows in the mountainous areas of the northern hemisphere. Commonly known as aconite, blue rocket, and wolfsbane"

Malik's eyes widened for a moment before he let out a sigh and spoke gently into the phone.

"That serves as a toxic plant. It's like vervain to vampires. The only difference is that werewolves can sniff it out."

"Seeing how uncomfortable our guest is here has become I believe you" spoke Damon again. "Have fun judgy."

Suddenly Caroline disappeared from them making them both worried and slightly nervous. As they looked at each other they began to run ahead towards the well, hoping that they would find everyone there. As they got there they saw Elena on the edge of the well wrapping the chain around herself and hooking it against one of the links.

"What's going on? You just took off in a blur."

"I heard Elena screaming. Help her, now!"

Bonnie grabbed Elena's hand and helped lower her into the well.

"Are you ready?" asked Caroline looking at the girl.

"Yeah"

Elena was slowly lowered into the well with the help of Caroline who slowly reeled her down. She lost hold of the chain for a second but grabbed it just in time, making the other two standing there freak out for a brief second.

"Sorry!" shouted the blonde mostly to Elena.

"It's okay, keep going. Come on!"

Caroline continued to lower Elena down into the well, the three of them up there where worried, tried to figure out what was going on. Elena managed to find Stefan but since he was burnt and unconscious she unhooked the chain from around herself and put it around Stefan.

"Hey! Oh, Oh my God"

"Elena, what's going on down there?"

"Pull him up!" shouted Elena from the well making Caroline start pulling the chain up from the well.

Once she did and Stefan was up there Bonnie untied Stefan and, with the help of Malik, placed him on the ground.

"Elena? Ready for you!"

"Hold on! I need to find the stone" shouted back the girl making Malik worried but looking at Stefan he felt bad. He was burnt and unconscious yet he did not have his magic to try and heal him...

"Hurry!" shouted Caroline.

"Hold on! I think I found it!"

They were waiting for a little while, suddenly they heard screams and shouts making them all even more worried – if that was even possible – Malik turned away from the well and sat down next to Stefan.

"Elena! What's going on?!"

"I got it. Come on! Bring me up!"

Caroline reeled Elena up, once she was on the surface Bonnie helped Elena when she finally got out of the well. Elena looked down at Stefan and seeing the state he was in she jumped off the well and down to him. She looked at Malik and spoke frantically.

"Can you heal him?"

"I can't" admitted the boy painfully. "I used up my magic trying to find that stone. I don't have enough left to heal all of his wounds. There is only one way..."

Elena realised what the boy was saying and picking up a stone she was about to cut her hand when Malik grabbed her hand and taking the stone from her spoke gently.

"It's fine... my blood is more potent."

"You don't have to Malik."

"It's Stefan" answered the boy with a smile before he cut his palm and as it was bleeding out he put it into his mouth and Elena began talking to him.

"I've got the stone, Stefan... it's gonna be okay, everything's gonna be okay."

As Stefan began to heal quickly he slowly opened his eyes and allowed Malik to pull his hand away. Elena immediately hugged her boyfriend, Malik finally noticed the box next to her. He heard whispers in his head, he felt the spirits pushing him slightly to open it.

Bonnie felt the spirits around them and kept her eyes on the boy, did not step in as he opened it but the moment Malik touched the stone he sharply inhaled alarming everyone around them, his head snapped back and looking up both of his eyes turned completely white.

A wave of energy pulsed out of his body, his face twisted in pain, scaring everyone around them until the stone fell out of his hand back into the box while Malik fell back. Bonnie shouted and dropped next to his brother, shaking him rapidly.

"Mal! Come on, wake up!"

The boy slowly opened his eyes making everyone relax but it was hard for him to get up, Caroline immediately rushed to him to help him up. Once Stefan was up and about as well Caroline went back to the Boarding house while the others helped Malik get back home.

Bonnie was constantly worried, the boy was barely able to keep his eyes open and he was mumbling something under his breath that none of them understood. Once they got back they tucked him into his bed Bonnie stayed with him but told the other two to go home.

Looking at his brother she was worried, his eyes were still partially open but they were still mostly white, they were slowly turning back to normal.

"Malik... if you can hear me... please come back to me."

Bonnie gently grabbed his hand, suddenly pictures and emotions flooded her mind as well. Letting go of Malik both of them sat up and gasped.

Seeing Malik up she quickly jumped on him and hugging him spoke with a worried tone.

"Don't you ever scare me like that again!"

"I'll do my best" answered the boy still panting a bit but began to relax.

"What happened?"

"The spirits wanted me to see into it, but that moonstone..."

"What about it?"

"We cannot let it fall into vampire's hands... the curse cannot be allowed to be broken."

"Why?"

"Because if it happens... it will unleash darkness into the world that will be almost impossible to contain again."
