Chapter 36: Stargazing
20:40, 31 May 2020Before anyone knew it, October blew over into November. For Scorpius and Rose, pretty much everything stayed the same. They both had Quidditch, Prefect stuff, and school work. Really, the only time that they had alone together without school work, was Hogsmeade trips. They did go on strolls occasionally, but with the weather changing, that got limited. Scorpius really wished that they had more time to just spend themselves. With no school work. They really needed a date. Sure, Hogsmeade was a good spot to go on dates, but, they could only go once a month, and, there were other students surrounding them. Not much privacy. But, one day, while Scorpius was sitting in Ancient Ruins, an idea popped into his head.
Instead of listening to the professor, Scorpius was thinking on how and him and Rose could have some sort of romantic moment together. Then, something came to him. But, it would take a lot to pull it off. Scorpius imagined a moment of him and Rose sitting at the top of the Astronomy Tower, stargazing into the night sky. Just her and him. It would be the perfect, romantic moment. Scorpius had to make it a reality.ย He needed to do this.
After Ancient Ruins, Scorpius was done with classes for the day. During this time, he usually did his homework, while Rose went to Quidditch practice. And vice versa. When Scorpius went to his Quidditch practice after dinner, Rose worked on her school work. But, that's beside the point. The real point was, today, Scorpius decided not to do his homework during this time. He needed help with something.
"Hey, Al, I need your help with something." Scorpius said as he walked to the table that Albus was sitting at in the common room.
"Am I hearing this right? Are you asking me for help? Who are you and what have you done with Scorpius Malfoy? Usually I have to ask you for help." Albus asked sarcastically.
"Yes. I need your help with something." Scorpius responded, rolling his eyes.
"Just let me have my moment of glory. Anyways, what do you need help with mate?" Albus asked.
"Well, I just need to make sure that we don't get caught tonight. That would totally ruin the whole thing. I just need you to make sure that Filtch doesn't go to the Astronomy Tower tonight. I'll take care of the rest." Scorpius explained.
"I would normally ask why, but I assume this has something to do with Rose, my cousin, so I don't to know every detail." Albus said back. Scorpius let out a chuckle.
"Look, all I need from you is to make sure that we don't get caught. Can you do that?" Scorpius asked.
"Yes, I can see what I can do. I do have some Weasley in my blood." Albus responded.
"Thanks mate! I'll have to make it up for you later." Scorpius said with a smile on his face. He then almost bolted out of the Slytherin Common Room. This was really happening. With Filtch taken care of, his plan could be put into action. What was his plan you ask? Well, Scorpius was planning a romantic evening with Rose up at the Astronomy Tower. It would be the perfect evening. Scorpius would get a picnic basket, and fill it with all of Rose's favorite snacks. They would lay on the ground of the Astronomy Tower, stargazing, and just purely enjoying each other's company. This would be just amazing. Scorpius smiled to himself as his plan unfolded.
Scorpius then made his way to the kitchens. He tickled the painting of the pair, and was let in.
"Hello Master Scorpius. What can Winky do for you today?" Winky asked as Scorpius came into the kitchens. Over the years, Winky had excepted being a payed house elf at Hogwarts. Actually, she really enjoyed it. She loved doing tasks for the students.
"Hello Winky. I came to ask you a favor." Scorpius said to the elf.
"Anything for Master Scorpius." Winky replied. Even though Winky was a freed, payed, elf, she still enjoyed to call everyone Master or Mistress.
"Okay, great then. You know Rose Weasley, right?" Scorpius asked Winky.
"Of course. Winky looks up to her mother very much. Hermione Granger made it possible for Winky and us elves to be payed." Winky said with a smile. She had excepted Hermione's attempts and successes to get house elves payed and freed.
"Brilliant. Well, what I came to ask you is, can you put together a picnic basket for me. With all of Rose's favorite snacks. I know she likes Sugar Quills, Black Cat Potato Chips, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, and mini sandwiches." Scorpius explained to Winky.
"Okay. Winky will do that for Master Scorpius and Mistress Rose." Winky said, as she hopped off the stool that she was sitting on. She went over with a few other house elves, and they prepared the snacks that Scorpius asked for. About 10 minutes later, Winky came back with a picnic basket in her tiny hands.
"There you go Master Scorpius. Winky and her friends have prepared the snacks for Master Scorpius and Mistress Rose." Winky said she handed the basket to Scorpius. Scorpius looked into the basket, finding all the snacks he requested for.
"Wow Winky. I really can't thank you enough. Here." Scorpius said, as he handed the elf 15 galleons from out of his pocket.
"Winky thanks you Master Scorpius. Winky greatly appreciates it. Winky hopes that you and Mistress Rose will have a good time." Winky said to Scorpius, as he thanked her one more time, and left the kitchens.
Scorpius walked all the way back to his dormitory, and placed the picnic basket by his bedside table. He really looked forward to this evening, but another thought occurred to him. He hadn't even asked Rose yet. He didn't know if she was busy or not. So, he got a spare piece of parchment, and began to scribble something on it.
Rose,
Meet me up at the Astronomy Tower after I'm done with Quidditch tonight. It's a surprise, so I'm not going to spoil it.
-Scorpius
Scorpius quickly scribbled this down. He would give it to Rose at dinner tonight. He smiled to himself, really hoping that he would see his red-headed girlfriend this evening. Then, him and Al made their way down to dinner.
Scorpius walked into the Hall with Al, and they sat down at the Slytherin Table. Scorpius's eyes immediately started searching for Rose. She must have still been at practice. A little disappointedly, Scorpius turned back around and ate his dinner.
About 20 minutes later, the Gryffindor team came into the Great Hall to eat. They had just got done with practice, and they all took quick showers. Rose along with the rest of the team all sat down at the Gryffindor Table.
Scorpius was getting anxious. He had to leave for practice. Where the heck was Rose? She was usually back by now. Scorpius got up from his seat, along with the other members of the Slytherin Team. By the way, Cara was all healed now, so Albus was off the hook as Seeker. He was glad though. He just gets way to nervous. Anyways, when Scorpius got up, his eyes automatically spotted Rose's red, curly, hair.
He didn't have enough time to explain anything to her, so, he discreetly took the piece of parchment, crumpled it up, and threw it at her. Scorpius was trying not to laugh when it hit her. He wished he could stay and talk, but, he and the rest of the team made their way down to the pitch for their practice.
Rose felt something hit her back. She immediately turned around to see what it was. There was a crumpled piece of parchment on the floor. She picked it up, and un-crumpled it. Right away, she recognized the handwriting. That made her smile. She then continued on to read the letter. By the time she finished reading the short letter, she had a huge smile on her face. It was hard to believe that no one around her asked why. Then, Rose looked up to see if Scorpius was anywhere in sight, but he wasn't. He must have already left for Quidditch practice. Rose turned back around, and continued to smile to here self. She was totally going to the Astronomy Tower later.

After dinner, Rose went back up to her dormitory to change. She couldn't wear her school uniform. She went over to her trunk and pulled out one of the sweaters she got last Christmas, and a nice skirt. She rarely wore skirts, but she thought this was a good accession to. She put that outfit on, and took the hair tie out that was holding her curls back into a low pony tail. When she did this, her red locks cascaded down her back, and framed her face nicely. She knew that Scorpius liked her hair down best. She ran her fingers through it, trying to tame it a tad, but she was unsuccessful. After that, slid on her rose shaped ring, earrings, and necklace. She went to go look at herself in the mirror. She was almost perfect. All she had left to do was brush on a little mascara, blush, chapstick, and concealer. Oh, and she couldn't forget to give herself a quick spritz of her rose scented perfume.
Now, all she had to do was wait for Scorpius to get done with Quidditch. While she waited, she decided to plop down on her bed, and read a good book.
/*
Scorpius was very sweaty after Quidditch practice. A whoosh of excitement hit him. In a matter of time, he would be under the stars with Rose, simply starring up at them. Scorpius almost sprinted back to his dormitory to take a quick shower and change into something presentable. After he was changed, he untucked his lock necklace from his shirt, sprayed himself with some Black Noir, and grabbed his jacket. He took one last glance at himself in the mirror, making sure that he looked good, grabbed the picnic basket, and made his way up to the Astronomy Tower.
Scorpius almost ran the whole way up there. He was so excited. Him and Rose hadn't really had a nice romantic moment like this since the last Hogsmeade trip. That was over a moth ago now. When he finally got up to the top of the tower, he went to work to set it up nice for him and Rose.
Scorpius took out his wand, and muttered multiple spells. One of the spells created a nice blanket for him and Rose to lay on, while looking up on the night sky. After the blanket appeared, he placed the picnic basket on it. After he was done with that, he then went on to conjure up pretty red and white rose petals. It made the whole scene much more romantic than it already was. There was just one more thing left to do before Rose showed up. Scorpius enchanted the old gramophone in the corner of the room to play Fine Line by Harry Styles. He knew that Harry Styles was Rose's favorite singer, and Fine Line was her favorite album. It was now ready. Scorpius stepped back, and took it all in. Now, all that was left was Rose's arrival.
While Scorpius was doing this, Rose slid on her white, high top, Converse, and left her dormitory with Lily and Caroline fussing at her. Rose would probably tell them all about her experience when she got back. But, for now, she walked out of the Gryffindor Common Room, and made her way to the Astronomy Tower to meet Scorpius.
Rose walked all the way across the castle. She was surprised she didn't get caught. She climbed up the steps of the Astronomy Tower, and, wait. Did she hear Watermelon Sugar playing somewhere? She had to investigate. Rose then finished making her way up the steps, and reached the top of the Astronomy Tower. When she got to the top, she couldn't believe what she saw. She was so shocked, that her mouth fell open in awe. He really did this, all just for her. She saw Scorpius standing there, with a single rose in his hand. Scorpius had set up the place for them to have a romantic date spot. The ground was lightly covered in rose pestles, and Fine Line was lightly playing in the background. Wow. Just wow. She just truly couldn't believe he did this all for her. It was so sweet!
"Hey love." Scorpius said, standing there with a single rose in his hand, as Rose walked in. He had a huge smile on his face when he saw her come in. He really hoped she liked it.
"Scorpius! I- just wow! You did this all for me?" Rose said in a very sweet tone as she approached him. She just still couldn't get over that he did something this sweet for her.
"Well, I kind of did it for the both of us. I thought we were due for a date. What do you think?" Scorpius asked. Rose responded with a nice kiss, but it wasn't to passionate. Not yet, at least. Scorpius loved the way she responded. He liked to taste her fruit punch chapstick.
"I guess you like it then." Scorpius chuckled, after him and Rose broke apart.
"Oh, Scorp, I love it. But, can I ask, how did you pull it off without getting caught? We are Prefects you know. We're supposed to prevent this kind of stuff." Rose asked curiously.
"Well, let's just say I had a little bit of help." Scorpius simply responded, draping an arm around Rose. Rose let out a giggle at this.
"Come on, the reason why I invited you up here is because I thought we could do some stargazing." Scorpius said, as he jerked his head towards the blanket he set up. Rose nodded, and the two went and laid down on it.
"What's in that basket?" Rose asked, after her and Scorpius were down on the blanket.
"Oh, maybe you should see for yourself." Scorpius said, as he handed the basket to her.
Rose lifted the flaps of the basket, and loved what she saw. Scorpius was really the sweetest boyfriend ever. "Oh my gosh! These are all my favorites. Oh Scorp!" Rose said as she wrapped her arms around Scorpius.
Rose immediately got into the chocolate covered strawberries. They tasted wonderful.
"Scorpius why did you do all of this?" Rose asked again. She was just shocked because no one had ever done something this special for her before.
"Because I love you Rosie. That's why." Scorpius said, taking her face into his hands, and giving her a nice, sweet, kiss on the lips. When they parted, Scorpius stared into Rose's deep, ocean blue, sparkling, irises.
When the couple was done snacking and chatting, They laid back down on the blanket, with their hands interlocked. Scorpius loved how close Rose was to him. He could smell the nice scent of her long, curly, soft, red, hair, and her rose scented perfume.
"What's your favorite constellation? Wait, that's a stupid question." Rose asked, and then realized probably what Scorpius was going to say.
"Believe it or not, it's not Scorpius. My favorite constellation is actually Lyra." Scorpius said, as him and Rose were staring up into the night sky. While he answered, he was twirling one of his fingers around one of Rose's locks.
"Really?" Rose responded, as she found Lyra up in the star splattered sky.
"Yea. It represents the joy of music. It is shaped like an instrument called a Lyre." Scorpius informed. Rose always loved when Scorpius sounded intelligent. Scorpius knew a lot about a lot of different things, but when he talked about Astronomy, it was like a dreamy music to Rose's ears.
"You know, I think it's really cool that people in your family are named after constellations." Rose said, still starring up at Lyra.
"Yea. You've said that before. But, people in your family are named after flowers." Scorpius put in, still playing with Rose's hair and looking up at the night sky.
"I suppose. But, me and Lily are the only two. She was named after her grandmother, and I think my mum just like the name." Rose responded.
"Still, that's something. I think your names pretty." Scorpius said back. When he said this, Rose instantly put her lips on his, this time more passionately. When Scorpius and Rose's lips were locked, shooting stars shot by in the beautiful night sky. The scene was perfect. This was exactly what Scorpius had in mind. The moment couldn't be more amazing.
After a nice, long, sweet-tasting, passionate, snogg, Rose and Scorpius broke apart, and went back to gazing up at the galactic sky. They both painted out different constellations, and starts to each other. Shooting stars still zoomed by, and Rose and Scorpius looked up at them in awe. They did this for about another hour. Just stargazing, hands interlocked, cuddling each other. Scorpius then glanced down at his watch, and it read 10:30. It was past curfew. Scorpius just laughed to himself.
"What?" Rose asked, as she looked into Scorpius's silver eyes. She then realized what he was laughing about when her eyes glanced down at his watch.
"10:30! That's past curfew! Scorpius if we're caught! We're Prefects!" Rose said in a different tone.
"It's okay. I already made sure that we wouldn't get caught. But, I guess we should go back." Scorpius responded.
With that, Scorpius and Rose got up off the blanket, and Scorpius conjured everything to go inside of the basket. The Astronomy Tower was back to the way it looked before, like no one was even there.
After Scorpius had double checked that everything was back to the way it was before, he grabbed Rose's hand and they walked down the stairs of the tower.
"I'll walk you back to Gryffindor Tower." Scorpius said, like a gentleman. Rose giggled at this, and took his hand and let him walk her back. Normally, she would say I can do it myself or it's fine you don't have to, I can take care of myself, but, she loved this moment. She wasn't going to ruin it with a comment like that.
The couple walked hand in hand all the way back to Gryffindor Tower. Before they knew it, they were standing in front of the Fat Lady portrait. Neither of them wanted this night to end.
"Well, I guess I'll see you in the morning." Rose said as she stared at Scorpius.
"Yea. I'll see you again tomorrow." Scorpius said in a strange tone, and then did something. He took Rose, and pulled her close to him. He put one of his palms on her cheek, and the other one on her back. He gave her a nice good night snogg.
The two just stood there and snogged for a few minutes, ignoring the Fat Lady's comments. When they finally broke apart, they both stared into each other's eyes.
"Rose Weasley, you don't know how much I love you. Good night. I should probably go return this to Winky." Scorpius said to Rose, and then walked away. Rose's insides were all warm and jittery. It was like she had butterflies in her stomach. She loved Scorpius Malfoy with all of her heart. She was deep in love.
Rose watched him walk away. Once he was gone, she did a little twirl. This had been their best date yet. It was the best night she had at Hogwarts in her 6 years of attending there. This night was just truly amazing. Rose would remember this for the rest of her life. After just standing there and blushing, she muttered the password to the Fat Lady.
After Scorpius said goodbye to Rose, he just smiled and blushed to himself. That was one of the best nights of his entire life. He was head over heals for Rose Weasley. When he looked at her, it was like he was starring into the brilliant light of a goddess. He couldn't believe this was all real. Him. Scorpius Malfoy. With the girl of his dreams. Rose Weasley. She was really his girlfriend. She was all his. Scorpius continued to think these things all the way back down to the kitchens, where he returned the basket to Winky.
When Scorpius and Rose got back to their dormitories, they both reported every detail of their special night to their friends. As Rose explained the date to Lily and Caroline, they both let out squeals on how sweet Scorpius was. Caroline even went on to say, "Al better do that for me!" Rose was all smiles the whole time she told the story of the night. After she finished telling Lily and Caroline, before bed, she wrote a letter to her mum explaining everything that had happened.
Scorpius did something similar with Al. He couldn't stop smiling the whole time he explained everything. But, Al's reaction was just a bunch of eye rolls and chuckles. Scorpius just ignored that. No one was going to snap him out of the great mood he was in.
That night, when Scorpius and Rose were lying in bed, they both thought of every moment they spent together. This night, and many other moments that they spent together, were truly fantastic. They were so head over heals for each other. For only being 16, those two were so deeply in love. Both Scorpius and Rose fell asleep, having very nice dreams about each other.
