Chapter 52

14:40, 9 September 2025

The next morning, the sunlight streamed through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room. I woke up with a content smile on my face, still replaying the words we'd exchanged the night before. I had never felt so sure of anything, so certain about what we had.

I stretched and rolled over, reaching for my phone, which was resting on the nightstand. As my fingers brushed the screen, I saw a message from Billie waiting for me.

my love 🖤:Good morning beautiful Just wanted to remind you how proud I am of you. You're going to crush it today at rehearsal. I'll be thinking of you.

I couldn't help but smile at her words, my heart swelling with warmth. It was exactly what I needed before heading into rehearsal, a little extra boost to calm my nerves.

I quickly typed a reply.

em bby:Thank you, baby. That means the world I'll be thinking of you too I love you.

I hesitated for just a second before sending it. The words felt so natural now, like they'd always been part of me. I smiled and hit send, feeling the flutter of excitement in my chest.

Moments later, Billie texted back almost instantly.

My love🖤:I love you too, Ember. Can't wait to see you tonight Go kill it at rehearsal, okay?

I set my phone down and took a deep breath, feeling grounded by her love and encouragement. I wasn't sure how I had gotten so lucky, but I wasn't about to question it. Today was another big step, another rehearsal where everything would come together. But knowing that Billie believed in me, and that we were in this together, made everything feel possible.

I stood up, stretching my arms overhead, and quickly got ready to head out. Rehearsal wasn't far, but it was going to be a full day of making sure everything was perfect for tomorrow's concert. I was ready, though. More than ready.

Before I walked out the door, I looked back at the bed, thinking about last night, about how things felt different now. How it all felt right. A smile tugged at my lips as I grabbed my bag and headed out, excited for the day ahead-and for the moment I'd finally be able to share this part of me with the world.

Rehearsal was in full swing by the time I arrived. The arena was buzzing with energy, the sound of instruments tuning, voices warming up, and the crew setting up the stage. I walked through the doors, already feeling the weight of the next few days on my shoulders. It was all coming together, but there was still so much to perfect.

I was greeted by Danny, who was going over some final notes with the band. He gave me a wide grin when he saw me. "Hey, superstar. Ready to rock this?"

I smiled back, trying to shake off the nerves that were creeping in. "Ready as I'll ever be." I took a deep breath and walked toward the stage area, where I could already see the setup for the concert. The lights were being adjusted, the sound system tested, and the stage felt alive with anticipation.

I stepped up to the mic, feeling the weight of everyone's eyes on me. It wasn't a huge crowd today, just the team, but I still felt the pressure. I gave them a nod, signaling for them to start the track.

The music began to fill the room, and for a moment, everything else faded away. The nervous flutter in my stomach settled into something more familiar-excitement, adrenaline. This was what I was born to do.

We ran through a few songs, tweaking the choreography and working on the transitions between tracks. I could feel the rhythm deep in my bones as the team moved around me, making sure everything would flow smoothly on the night of the concert.

Every so often, I glanced at the monitors, where the stage lights were being tested. It was starting to look like everything I had imagined-and more. I couldn't help but picture it all coming together, the crowd, the lights, the music.

Halfway through, Danny called a quick break. I took a sip of water and pulled out my phone. There was a message from Billie.

my love 🖤:How's rehearsal going? I know you're killing it, Can't wait to see you shine tomorrow

I grinned at her message, her support always bringing a sense of calm amidst the chaos.

em bby:It's going really well, A lot to perfect, but I think it's gonna be amazing. I'll see you tonight?

Billie responded almost immediately.

my love🖤:I'm counting down the hours. Can't wait to be there, I'm so proud of you, Ember. I'll see you after, yeah?

I couldn't stop the smile that spread across my face. Just the thought of seeing her after rehearsal made everything feel a little easier. I put my phone down and went back to my position on the stage, ready to dive into the next run-through.

As the rehearsal continued, the nerves that had once been there began to fade away. Every song, every step, every note started to feel more natural. It was coming together. My band was tight, the dancers were on point, and the energy in the room was growing.

When we finished for the day, I felt drained but exhilarated. It had been a long, intense rehearsal, but I knew that with one more morning of preparation, we'd be ready. I grabbed my things and headed out, already thinking about tonight and everything that was still left to do.

The moment I stepped outside, the cool night air hit me, and I pulled my jacket tighter around me. My phone buzzed again. A text from Billie.

my love🖤:How are you feeling?

em bby:I'm feeling good. It's all coming together. I can't wait for tomorrow, but also can't wait to see you tonight.

my love🖤:Same. I'm so proud of you, Ember. You've got this. You always do.

Her words were like a balm to my soul. I smiled, putting my phone back in my pocket as I started the car. I had tomorrow morning, one more rehearsal to perfect everything. But with Billie's love and support in my corner, I knew I could handle anything.
