It Has Always Been Her Anyway

It's getting late so you decided to leave early around 9 PM. Going back to the place you're staying, you saw Jaz and Chifuyu sharing a wonderful kiss together under a bright light.

You felt your heart sink. It was a living nightmare.

"F-Fuyu?" your voice cracked as you called his name.

The two looked at you with sort of a shocked expression. "Y/n..! What are you doing here?"

"So are you two already together?" you didn't bother to answer him.

"Yep! We were gonna tell you but we didn't know how." Jaz was the one who replied to your question.

"Can I talk to Chifuyu privately, Jaz?" you asked.

"Why can't she stay? Besides, I'm already here standing right in front of you." Chifuyu spoke.

You were feeling mixed emotions. Don't know if you want to cry or get mad at his stupidity.

"Fuyu, can't you tell that I have feelings for you? That I like you? That I want to be with you?" you said, tears coming down.

"Y/n.." he said then had a motion in his face, confirming all of his suspicions about your actions.

"So you did.. I can't believe it. Why did you keep this a secret from me?" you spoke in anger.

"I couldn't bring myself to inform you about what's happening between me and Jaz, Y/n!" he answered.

"Chifuyu! It hurts! It already hurts knowing that I changed for you, I did everything for you yet you still chose her. It hurts more knowing that you knew how I felt yet you kept it a secret from me! Just for me to find out myself that my long-time crush is kissing someone else in front of me!" you let out all of your feelings.

"I'm sorry.. It was a mistake to keep quiet about this. Please, Y/n believe me. I do not intend to hurt you!" he said.

"But in the end, you hurt me more than you can imagine. When I want to spend some time with you, your excuse would always be the same. It's always because of this Jasmine! I'm tired of hearing her name come out of your mouth!"

"I'm sorry. I just want to be the best for her." he answered.

"What about me? As a friend..? I felt like you wanted to shut me out of your life. You keep pushing me away!"

"Y/n, please understand his situation.You have to know when to distance yourself." Jaz said.

You ignored what she just said. Focused on Chifuyu's eyes, you said, "Where did I go wrong?"

"It's not your fault, ok?" he said.

"Maybe it was wrong to love you." you said, not believing what you just blurted out.

Chifuyu looked down from the pain he felt when you let out those words.

You were about to leave, your feet were moving on its own. You were then stopped when Chifuyu spoke.

"We decided to go to another country right after we graduate."

He continued, "Can I say my final goodbye to you.. right here?"

The word "goodbye" is what triggered you to cry out loud and hold your chest tightly.

Chifuyu thought of hugging you but didn't continue it as it was gonna be more painful to you than to him.

"Good bye, Y/n. We might not be working in the same shop anymore but there will be a time that we will be together again. Maybe someday in the future? As friends again?" he said, hiding his pain by showing a big smile.

You let out a deep breath then continued to walk away.

The sky is ever so dark just like how your empty heart looks deep inside you. Your eyes get puffier as you cry all night.

'I should have known. It is my fault for letting my heart get blinded by love. I do blame him for bringing me to that rollercoaster ride.'

'In the future? Maybe that is possible.. if fate agrees to let us meet once more.'
