Ch. 5: This Isn't Me
20:23, 6 October 2013<~Ross' POV:
Today I was going to come up with a plan to get Calum and Rydel together. I really think that Calum is perfect for Rydel.
I wish I could just tell her that he likes her.
Rydel walks past me.
"Hey there sis...can I ask you something?" I say randomly and awkwardly.
She stops and stares at me, "Uh...I guess." She says waiting for me to start talking.
"Well there is this guy who likes you that I know of..." I trail off.
Her eyes are wide. I don't know if she's in shock or really happy.
"Ah Rydel?" I say waving a hand in her face.
"W-what, yeah!" She snaps back into reality.
I chuckle, "You were day dreaming about someone...weren't you." I smirk.
She blushes, "So who likes me?" She asks eagerly.
I sigh, "I can't tell you."
"Please!" She begged.
"No...I can't." I respond, getting a little annoyed.
"Pleaseeeeee!" She begged.
I snapped, "Fine! It's Calum!" I blurt out. I quickly cover up my mouth with my hands.
She looks at me weird, "Really."
I don't say anything I just keep my hands over my mouth. Sorry Calum but Rydel knows your little secret.
"He's soooo cute." She gushed.
Wait! She likes him! Okay now that I'm thinking this through, I don't want Rydel dating Calum.
"Y-you think he's cute?" I stutter.
She nods with a smile.
"But..." I mumble hoping she doesn't hear me, but I guess she did.
"But what?" She asks.
Should I just tell her? Nah...wait yeah. I tell Rydel everything. We have no secrets.
"I don't want you two to date." I sigh, looking away from her.
She turns my head so I'm facing her again. She looks at me weird, "What do you mean? Why?"
"W-well Calum is my friend. It's just..." I start to trail off.
She rolls her eyes, "C' mon Ross, just talk!" She complains.
"Well I don't want you to date anyone. I don't want some guy breaking your heart." I try to explain to her.
She frowns, "That's selfish of you. No one else says that." She snaps.
"They aren't your brother." I point out.
"Actually they are! Riker and Rocky they are excited for me!" She says almost yelling.
"They aren't me.."I mumble feeling defeated.
She sighs, "Your my little brother, you don't have any say in anything I do." She smirks.
Before I could say another word she just walks away from me.
Why can't she understand that just because I'm younger doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about.
--------
<~Rydel's POV:
I storm away from Ross, frustrated. What's his problem! Since when is he so concerned about me? He's my little brother, the one who stays out of my private life...but no.
But at least now I know that Calum likes me. I really need to talk to him.
The doorbell rings and I run to the door.
Calum...what's he doing here?
"Hey Calum. What are you doing here?" I ask him. I step aside making room for him to walk past me.
"Oh..Ross invited me over." He said. He steps in the doorway.
Just then Ross appears.
"Hey Calum." He greets Calum.
I stand there awkwardly. Ross looked at me every so often as if he had something to say to me.
"Hey, so you up for some video games?" Calum asks Ross.
Ross glances at me and then Calum.
"Actually, I need to talk to you." Ross tells Calum.
Calum and Ross head upstairs. I wait until they're out of sight before I follow them and stand outside the door. I know it wrong to evesdrop but they are probably talking about me. I need to know that stuff.
----------
<~Ross' POV:
"So what do you want to talk about?" Calum asks shuffling around nervously.
"Rydel." I say calmly.
He looks at me and smiles, "Okay."
I slap him and he shrieks, "Oh shut up...." I snap. Now I feel kind of bad.
"That hurt." Calum frowned, rubbing his cheeks.
I roll my eyes annoyed by him, "Anyways...I don't want you to date my sister." I say sternly.
"What, why!?" Calum asked.
"Because." I say firmly with gritted teeth. I was actually really mad at Calum and I can't figure out why. This isn't me. I don't get angry like this.
Calum stares right into my eyes and clears his throat, "Ross what is your problem? Normally you would be excited for me to date Rydel. But I guess not and your not the boss of me. I love Rydel." He tells me.
I can feel my anger boiling up inside me. Foolishly, I stretch out an punch Calum. Calum steps back from all the impact. He holds his stomach, in the spot I had hit him. He looked up at me, with sad eyes before he darted out of my room.
He said he loved Rydel and he practically ran her over when he slammed the door open. I guess she was listening. I walked out of them room Rydel was crying.
"Rydel, are you okay?" I ask her.
She frowns, "No you just punched the one I love and scared him away, now I will never see him again!" She screamed.
"Good." I smirked.
She slapped me and ran into her room in tears.
I rubbed my cheek. What have I done?
