Chapter 92

00:04, 25 May 2014

“EVERYBODY WAKE UP! COME ON GUYS!” Dad screams through the room and I let out a giant groan. I slowly open my eyes and see him walking into the room. He pulls the curtains open, blinding me with light, and starts to walk back out of the room. “Wake up! We go in an hour, come on guys!” he cheers.

“Are you kidding me?” Eleanor mumbles and I laugh slightly, sitting up to see her lying down on the mattress on the floor that Dad must’ve set up before we came back home last night. She was forced to share with Jack because Conor and I refused to sleep separately and Conor obviously doesn’t want to sleep with Jack.

“Three and a half hours sleep” Jack yawns.

“Three hours” Eleanor tops him.

“About one hour in total, beat that” I say sarcastically. I’ve been up all through the night because of Conor constantly throwing up.

“Woah, what the hell took you so long?” El frowns.

“Conor constantly being sick” I frown. “Conor, get up!” I shout as loud as I can but my throat is croaky and sore from the night before. That was such a good night... No regrets.

“I’m up” he mumbles. “I feel sick”

“Go to the toilet” I sigh. He jumps out of bed and runs to the toilet and we all cringe at the sound of him being sick.

“I think I’m good” he moans, walking back in the room and falling on my bed.

“You’ve said that about six times now” I frown, slowly getting out of bed.

We all slump downstairs and into the kitchen because we’re starving, and make something quick for breakfast. I butter my toast and sit on a bar stool to eat it. I see Conor hitting the toaster with a wooden spoon and I frown in confusion.

“Conor, stop hitting the toaster!”

“But it’s taking forever. I can’t even remember what I put in there” he moans and I roll my eyes. I spin around on my chair and see Dad stood at the doorway.

“Happy New Year, Dad” I suck up to him. Everyone just smiles at him and returns to making breakfast.

“I’m not letting you off this time, Lucy. You all came back in a state because you’ve been drinking!” he snaps, standing in front of the kitchen island. “You’re fifteen! That’s underage drinking!”

“Well, I’m sixteen” Conor speaks up and I raise an eyebrow at him.

“Still underage!” Dad frowns and Conor lowers his head. “Where did you all go?”

“I told you, we went to a party round the corner from Conor’s house” I lie.

“Where did you get your alcohol from then?”

“Sam had it all” Eleanor backs me up.

“You’re telling me that Sam bought everyone all their drinks for this party?” Dad raises his eyebrow.

“Yes” Eleanor and I say at the same time. The room goes awkwardly silent until Conor’s toast pops up, scaring the shit out of me.

“Finally!” he cheers, slapping butter onto it. We all attempt to walk out of the room until Dad stops us again.

“I’m not finished yet!” he calls us and I moan.

“Dad, we have about thirty minutes to get ready. Can we do this later?” I sigh and he nods understandingly. We all shuffle upstairs and start getting ready in my room.

I tie my hair up in a messy bun, wash my face and brush my teeth. I then change into some leggings, a plain black oversized tee and my converse. I find my maroon rucksack and put in my camera and basically anything that I’ll need for the flight.

“Guys, come down with your suitcases!” Matt shouts from the bottom of the stairs. We start running round my room like mad people, trying to get ready as quickly as possible. It was a really bad idea to get so drunk last night.

Jack helps Eleanor with her bags and I hear him just throw them to the bottom of the stairs. My suitcase isn’t even closed yet.

“Shit, Conor. I can’t close my suitcase” I panic, pulling the zip.

“Jesus Christ. You do know that we’re only going for a week, right?” he frowns, watching me struggle.

“Help me!” I snap and he quickly jumps to the floor to zip it up.

“Lucy? Conor?” Dad shouts from the bottom of the stairs.

“One second!” I call back and stand on top of my suitcase while Conor zips it up.

“Done” he smiles in satisfaction. I grab it, run out of my room and throw it down stairs where my Dad grabs it and takes it outside. I run back into my room and grab my carryon before running downstairs with Conor.

“Bye, you two! Have a good time!” Lauren smiles as I give her a quick hug.

“Bye, Lauren!” I smile widely.

“Bye, Lucy. Call me!” Mum says, pulling me in for a hug.

“I will do!”

“Bye, Conor” she smiles.

“Bye, Marie. Bye, Lauren!” he says quickly before we run out of the house and jump into my Dad’s car. We drive way past the speed limit to get to Conor’s house and when we get there, me, Jack, Conor and El jump out of the car and run inside. I don’t know why we all got out to be honest.

As soon as Angela opens the front door, Conor and Jack charge into the house and run upstairs.

“Get my phone!” I shout to him.

“Got it!” he calls back, running back downstairs with his suitcase and my phone. “Here” he holds out my phone and his hoody. I frown in confusion. “You’ll freeze in just a t-shirt” he explains.

“Thank you! Love you” I kiss him, wrapping my arms around him. I put on his plain, grey hoody and let it hang over me. It’s so big and snugly and oh my lord.

“Happy New Year Mum, Anna” Conor gives Anna and Angela a hug.

“Aw, Happy New Year Con” she smiles and Anna does the same. Jack says the same thing when he comes running down the stairs.

“Before you go, I just want to tell you and Lucy to be safe. I know what you two get up to behind closed doors and now that you’re in another country, I won’t be here if anything happens so just keep safe. Okay?” Angela says to me and Conor. I burst out laughing and Conor moans.

“Mum, I’m a virgin” Conor smirks, clearly lying.

“Conor, you are not a virgin. Alex told me” she frowns and he gasps.

“What the fuck?” his jaw drops and I start laughing even more. “I’m gonna kill him”

“Okay, have a nice time!” Angela waves to us all, pushing us out of the house, knowing that we’re late. We all run back to the car and drive to Heathrow Airport as quickly as possible.

“I got my phone back” I squeal, trying to lighten the mood but everyone just glares at me.

“Have you all got your passports?” Dad asks, looking back at us in the rear view mirror.

“Yes” we all say in sync. I pull mine out of my bag and look at my picture.

“I look like a right dickhead” I mumble, staring at the picture taken about 5 years ago. “Dad, I don’t look anything like that picture”

“It doesn’t matter” he mumbles.

“It does”

“Lucy!” he snaps. “It will be fine”

“Okay” I frown in disagreement. I’m not arguing with him about this.

“You think yours is bad, look at Conor’s” Jack mumbles from the back of the car. I look over at Conor’s and burst out laughing.

“It looks like a mug shot” I laugh harder and he moans.

We get to the airport in record breaking time and quickly pile out of the car and grab out bags. We check in and I’m surprised when the woman doesn’t complain about the date of my passport. I could have stolen someone’s passport and would’ve gotten away with it.

I sit on my suitcase while Conor drags me round the airport on it and Jack does the same with Eleanor. Once we’ve checked in our bags, we go through security check and are finally allowed to get on the plane. We’re already late so we all bolt through huge crowds to try and get to our plane.

I let out a huge breath when we get the plane gate and give in our plane tickets. We quickly run down the tube thing to get on the plane and when we get there, we shuffle to our seats at the back of the plane. Dad and Matt sit together and Eleanor, Jack, Me and Conor sit on the four seater row in that order.

“Finally” I breathe. I’m so out of breath from all that. I feel like I’ve lost so much weight. I buckle my seatbelt in sync with everyone else and watch the airhostess show us how to survive a plane crash or something.

“Fuck, she’s hot” Jack mumbles, glaring at the airhostess.

“Shut up, she can hear you” Eleanor whispers. I hold the bridge of my nose in embarrassment and Conor starts laughing. The plane eventually takes off and me and Eleanor start squealing.

“We would’ve been here on time if it wasn’t for you” I frown at Conor.

“What the fuck did I do?” he gasps.

“You was sick in the middle of the night”

“Yeah, that makes sense” he says sarcastically.

“It does” I nod, trying to convince myself. I don’t even know why I’m blaming Conor for this.

“So it’s all my fault now?” he smirks.

“You’re my boyfriend, Conor. Of course it’s your fault” I sigh and he starts laughing.

“It’s too early for this” he moans, resting his head on my shoulder and snuggling up to me. I play with his hair for a while until he finally goes to sleep. Eleanor and Jack are having a deep conversation of their own so I decide to just get out my phone and play on some shitty games to pass some time.

It takes 2 hours and a half to get to Stockholm and when we finally arrive, we start squealing in excitement. Well, me and Eleanor do anyway. Conor and Jack are asleep and Dad and Matt are just talking.

“Baby, wake up” I kiss Conor’s forehead and he moans. “Come on” I chuckle and he sighs, sitting up.

“Are we here?” he frowns and I nod. “I’m tired”

“I’ll give you a piggyback ride if you get up” I lie and his eyes shoot open.

“Deal” he smiles. We get our carryon bags and make our way off the plane. After going through all the stressful airport shit, we get in a taxi and make our way to the resort. There’s a little less snow than in Brighton here but there’ll be so much more when we get to the ski resort.

“You said you’d give me a piggyback ride” Conor pouts.

“I lied” I smirk and he sighs. “What’s up?”

“I know you spoke to him last night”

“Who?” I frown.

“Ben” he mumbles.

“Yeah, you were there when I slapped him. Remember?” I laugh dryly.

“You hugged him when we left and was talking to him for a bit” he frowns, not even making eye contact with me. I didn’t want to mention this to Conor. If I told him, he would freak out which would lead to an argument which would ruin the trip so I thought that if I kept my mouth shut, nothing would happen. How does he even remember? “You think I would forget seeing you two hugging just because I was drunk?” he scoffs.

“No, Conor” I sigh. “I just didn’t want to tell you because I knew you would freak out”

“Obviously” he snaps. “I’m more annoyed that you didn’t tell me though”

“I seriously doubt that” I mumble. “I did it for both of our benefits. If you didn’t know about it, it would stop you from arguing with me and Ben”

“Why would I argue with Ben over something that’s your fault?”

“Are you being fucking serious? He apologised for everything and you still expect me to be horrible to him? It’s a new year, Conor. I’m not going to hold this against him when we can start a fresh” I try and keep my voice low although everyone in this bloody taxi can probably hear our argument right now. No one else is talking.

“I don’t expect you to be horrible to him at all. I just expect you realise what he’s doing and know that you shouldn’t be forgiving him for whatever bullshit he comes out with” he raises his voice.

“Piss off, Conor. We’ve not been here five minutes and you’re already starting an argument” I roll my eyes.

I understand that he might be a little bit mad at me for forgiving Ben and giving him a hug but why should I hold all this against him? I don’t want this drama in my life just as much as Ben so why should I make myself miserable by not forgiving him when he says sorry? Conor always says that he wants me to do what I think is best but then he always argues with me about my decisions. It drives me insane. What Ben did was wrong but he’s said sorry and he clearly meant it so why shouldn’t I forgive him?

“Lucy-“

“Shut up” I snap, staring out of the window.

“Who wants to play eye spy?” Eleanor tries lightening the mood but the whole car stays silent.

“Nice one, El” Jack mumbles.

“Shut up” she sighs.

“Well now that we’re all relaxed, let’s talk about last night” Dad breaks the silence and everyone moans.

“Proper relaxed, Dad” I say sarcastically.

“I mean that we’re not rushing to an airport and no one’s driving-“

“Actually, the taxi man is driving” Eleanor smirks and I laugh slightly.

“Don’t push it, Eleanor” Dad frowns. “What you did was completely irresponsible”

“Oh my god. Dad, we get it. We weren’t supposed to be drinking and we shouldn’t have come home that late because it caused us to be late for our flight. We won’t do it again, blah blah blah. Now can we just drop it?” I raise my voice. It’s stressing me out. He’s keep bringing it up when we already get that what we did was wrong.

“No, we won’t just drop it!” he snaps. “Conor, does your Mum know that you were drinking?”

“No” he shakes his head and I frown in confusion. Angela knows that we were drinking so why didn’t he tell Dad the truth?

“Conor-“

I’m interrupted by him kicking my shin slightly.

“I know that what we did was stupid, especially because we were getting a flight the next day but it was New Years Eve and everyone around us was drinking so we just had a little bit” Conor lies, acting all innocent. If only Dad heard him throwing up every half an hour at early hours in the morning.

“Well I’m glad you understand, Conor” Dad mutters. He’s taking this way too seriously. “Just don’t do it again” he sighs and I smile slightly.

“Sorry, Dad” I apologise.

“Yeah, sorry” Jack apologises and so does Eleanor and Conor. Well that’s finally over and done with.

“I’m gonna pull on this holiday” Eleanor announces.

“Why? You’ll only see him for a week” I frown.

“I’ll give you a tenner if you pull someone” Jack sniggers.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” she frowns.

“Nothing” he smirks.

“Deal then” she smiles, shaking his hand. “Long distant relationships work, Lucy”

“You actually believe that?” I smile in amusement.

“What? It’s love not Santa Clause” she snaps and I start laughing. “If you both love each other, you can make it work”

“And you think you’re going to fall in love in a week?” I frown and she nods.

“Well no but-“

“Eleanor, you are not going to fall in love in a week. Believe me” Matt chuckles.

“Well it can just be a short term relationship. I have a week” she says, determinedly.

“If you pull, I’ll go out in the snow in my underwear” I tell her.

“Deal!” Conor’s head shoots up and he smiles.

“Conor!” I gasp, laughing slightly.

“Eleanor, shake her hand” he completely ignores me and Eleanor shakes my hand. I roll my eyes and look at Conor. “Alright. If you pull, I’ll build you a throne out of ice” Conor shrugs and I burst out laughing.

“Do you all think I can’t pull or something?” Eleanor frowns and we all start laughing. “But deal” she shakes hands with Conor. “Do you guys want to make any offers?” Eleanor turns to our Dad’s.

“Well I don’t want you to ‘pull’ so no” Matt frowns, using air quotes.

“There’s a name for people who go round doing stuff like that” Dad tells us and Eleanor gasps.

“I’m not a slag” she pouts and I burst out laughing.

“But no, Eleanor. I’m not betting on you to get with some guy” Dad smiles as the taxi pulls up to our resort.

Oh my fuck.

I stare at the large reception area in disbelief. This place is fucking enormous and so beautiful. The main entrance is made out of wood and is just so big and lit perfectly. It’s 11am here – only a one hour time difference – so we should be able to start snowboarding or skiing as soon as we get settled in our log cabin.

As soon as I get out of the car I take a picture of the main entrance to show my Mum, ignoring the fact that my feet are getting soaked from the foot deep snow.

We grab our bags out of the back of the taxi and walk into the reception area where my Dad’s already checking in. We put on our wristbands to show that we’re part of the resort and finally get taken to our cabin.

We walk down the long path and finally reach door 327. It’s nowhere near as big as the cabin in Portsmouth but there’s a difference between staying with 6 people and staying with 11 people. It’s a one story cabin, all made out of wood and as soon as you walk in, it’s the living room where there’s a massive wood burner fire and two small sofas. There’s mirrors and other things hung up on the wall and there’s a massive flat screen TV hanging off the wall.

There are two doors at one side of the living room and which are just 2 simple bedrooms. One of them has two single beds in and a big wardrobe and one of them has a double bed with a big wardrobe. There’s another 2 rooms at the other side of the living room which are identical to each other. There’s just one big bed and a small wardrobe in each of them. At the back of the living room, there’s a door that leads to the bathroom which is huge.

“Oh my god it’s huge!” Eleanor gasps.

“Dibs on this room” we all say in sync, charging towards the big room with the double bed.

“Me and Lucy need this room” Conor frowns.

“Oh so we’re sleeping together now?” I raise an eyebrow. It was only twenty minutes ago when we were fighting in the taxi.

“See you’re arguing already. I clearly need this room” Eleanor sighs, sprawling out on the bed.

“Woah, I didn’t say I didn’t want this room with him. You two can piss off” I snap, sending Jack and Eleanor out.

“Who says you two are sharing a room?” Dad walks in the room.

“Well Eleanor and Jack can’t share a bed because that’s weird so it’s just down to me and Conor” I shrug.

“Why can’t you and Eleanor share?” he asks.

“Dad, me and Conor want to share”

“Eleanor, do you want to share with Lucy?” he smiles at Eleanor and I roll my eyes.

“I’m alright thanks. She snores too loud” she turns her nose up and walks out of the room.
