Chapter 10 The Attack!

07:44, 16 May 2016

"Grandma? What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Looking for you, dear." Grandma Valka descended to the ground from Cloudjumper's wing.

"Whoa, who's that?" I heard Buffnut ask.

"It's Freya's grandma." Comet answered.

"Weird." He whispered.

"Anyway, Freya have you noticed anything about your dragons?" Grandma said facing me.

"Yea. They've been on edge for a few days." I answered.

"So mine aren't the only ones." She said to herself. "Keep an eye out on the coast. I saw some Beserker ships near Berk." No one said anything for a while, and I honestly was starting to feel scared. The only fatal attack that I experienced on Berk was when I was a baby, and that was still a blur.

Just as Grandma Valka was about to leave, I stopped her.

"Wait, when will you be back?" I asked her.

"Well, it will be a while. I still have tons of dragons to care for, not to mention the hatchlings, but I do promise to visit." She said.

"Fine." I agreed. She climbed up on to Cloudjumper's wing and hauled herself on his back. I turned to the other students that had crowded on the beach. As Cloudjumper flew away, the gusts of wind coming from his wings blew my red hair in every direction.

"So now what?" Buffnut loudly said, disrupting the silence.

"Go to Gobber I guess." Comet suggested.

"Idiot. We should go to the chief." Bottonlout  hit Comet in his head.

"How about you numb skulls go tell Gobber, and I go tell Stoik." I suggested. No one objected. "I'll take that as I yes."

The Nadder I flew was still wet from being in the water, but I ignored it and hauled myself up into the saddle. I took one last look at the group who looked like they've seen a ghost, then left.

The Island of Berk came into my sights. I was heading for my house. If they weren't having another meeting, Grandpa would be at the house. As I opened the door Dad and Grandpa were at the stair case.

"Freya, what are you doing home?" Dad asked.

"Well you see, we went to Dragon Island for a research thing for class and I saw Grandma..." I started.

"You saw Valka?" Grandpa asked, astonished.

"Yeah, and she said that she saw Beserker ships off the coast of Berk." I finished.

"Beserkers? Not again." Dad sighed.

"Again?" I asked.

We'll tell you later, right now I have to call another meeting." Grandpa said leaving the house, followed by Dad. There was no point in going back to the academy, so I went to the only other place that I wanted to be at.

As I walked up to Stormcloud I could see something was defiantly wrong. Her ears were twitching and her eyes were narrowed down to a slither. She claws were unsheathed and her teeth were bared.

"Stormcloud what's wrong?" I asked as I ran up to her. Her Ears perked and her head seemed to focus on something behind me. When I swung my head to look over my shoulder I coulnd't see anything, but I could hear something. I ran to the corner of cliff. When I peered around, five ships were docking on the shores. Men were yelling and shouting, but I only focused on two of them. Dagger, the same age as my dad now, and his son, Scythe. Scythe resembled his father when he was younger, except bigger.

"Oh my gods." I whispered to myself. I was nearly frozen in terror, until I was brought to my senses when I saw that they all were making their way toward the village, and Dagger headed for the tallest mountain on Berk. What ever this was I didn't like were it was going and I was not going to follow him.

I slowly backed away from the corner and when I was sure that no one knew I was there, was when I raced off to the Great Hall.

When I finally made it there, I shoved open the huge, wooden doors. Nearly every viking on Berk was looking at me in the entrance. I had to ignore their burning stares and tell them what I saw.

"Beserkers are on the island! They're heading for the village and Dagger went to the mountain." I rasped.

"Quickly to the village! We must defend it!" Grandpa yelled above all the mumbling vikings. "And Hiccup, go after Dagger." The room suddenly began to buzz and and ran out of the doors, pulling me with them.

When I forced myself out of the hoard of people I noticed something just outside the village. I could see the distant figure of Toothless fading toward the mountain, so it couldn't be Dad. As I ran closer in curiosity I found out it was Scythe. I followed his stare to the direction Dad and Dagger were at. My best guess is that he was planning an ambush. I desperately ran after him, trying not to be noticed.

I've followed Scythe all the way to the base of the mountain were the tree formed an open circle, as if a Typhoomerang had been here, but hadn't torched the ground.

I quietly made my way to the open circle where I could see Toothless land and pulled out my knife. Dagger then came into sight from the opposite side from me and quickly shot a net around Toothless. I had to hold back a gasped of fright. Dad was locked in a Battle with Dagger. I slowly stood up slowly and began to back away. I was suddenly stopped by a hand on my right wrist and another below my left arm's shoulder. Thinking it was Bottonlout, my mind was instantly changed when my wrist was forced behind my back and between my shoulder blades. I was paralyzed with pain. I didn't dare move in fear that Scythe would rip my arm off.

"Hey, you're kind of cute. For the enemy that is." He whispered in my ear. Just what I needed, another idiot.

"Good job Scythe, you got the girl!" Dagger yelled out.

"Freya!" Dad yelled.

"Dad!" I called back. Scythe tightened his grip on my arms and pulled my wrist higher. I yelled out in pain.

I then realized that I had a knife in my hand. I gripped the handle tightly before I shoved it at Scythe's stomach. My hand was almost immediately stopped by Scythe's hand on my wrist.

"That's not a very good idea." He laughed. He squeezed a pressure point in my wrist. My hand unwillingly opened and I dropped the knife into his hand. He brought the knife up to my throat. I moved my head back as far as I could, but he only brought the knife closer. I didn't move a muscle. Scythe had trapped me into a corner.

"Let her go Scythe." Said a voice behind us. When I was turned around by Scythe, for once in my life, I was happy to see two familiar faces.

"Let go of her." Comet repeated. Bottonlout stood beside him, both with knives.

"Oh, you have a little protector, do you." Scythe sarcastically asked me. He dropped my knife to the ground and wrapped his over-sized arm around my neck. As he flexed I was getting less and less air. I tried to pull away his arm but I was getting weaker by the second.

"Scythe!" Comet yelled out.

"You want her, your going to have to go through me!" Scythe laughed once more. The world around me started to fade to black. Comet suddenly threw his knife at me. I closed my eyes preparing for death, before I heard Scythe scream in pain. I opened my eyes and saw Comet's knife in the arm that was around my neck. The darkness almost completely cover my vision before the arm was released and I was dropped to the ground. I slowly opened my eyes and saw the letters written on the blade of my knife.

"Everything they know about me, is wrong." I whispered. My eyes closed one last time, before I fell asleep.

Is it true?
