Chapter 9 Trip to Dragon Island

07:44, 16 May 2016

The next day at class was so uncomfortable. The air itself seemed to way on my shoulders.

"Hey babe." Bottonloud said, resting his elbow on my shoulder.

"Go away." I said turning away from him.

"You and I are together, so why don't you act like it?" He asked.

"Because I never said yes." I answered. I strangely didn't feel annoyed like usual. I felt weak and useless. Never the less I was not going to put up with Bottonlout.

"Well I say you did, so I'll ask again, why don't you act like it." He said much harsher. I've never seen him like this, and I felt too weak to try anymore.

"I'm sorry, please forgive me." I said making my voice as cute as possible. I really didn't care anymore the only thing I could think of was not Comet or Bottonlout, but Stormcloud.

"That's okay, baby, I'll forgive you." He said. Bottonlout lifted my face up. I only looked down in depression.

"Alright let's get on with this." Gobber said walking in. Bottonlout quickly slide away from me. "Today you'll train a Terrible Terror." Gobber said.

"This'll be easy." I thought to myself. Gobber made his way out of the arena while the iron gates that held the dragon behind them stayed closed.

"Hey, Gobber, aren't you going to release the dragon?" Buffnut asked.

"It's behind you." Salmonfoot told him. A little yellow and red Terror ran around Buffnut's legs.

"Hey come back here!" He yelled at it.  This was going to be easy. I slid out my dagger from it's case and aimed it for the sun. Thanks to science I knew that if at the right angle the sun would reflect of the metal of my knife and make a dot of light on the ground that I can control. I got the Terror's attention and made it chase after the dot for a while then lead it right to my feet. I put my knife away and pet the dragon head.

It let out a purr and rolled over. I rubbed my hand down it's belly and looked to Gobber.

"Can I go home now?" I asked. Gobber walked back into the arena before answering me.

"Alright since that took didn't take as long as I thought, we will be doing tomorrow's activity today." He said.

"Is it dangerous?" Salmonfoot stuttered. Salmonfoot may not look like his father, but he sure has the same personality.

"Very. Now I'll have to go get you all dragon so wait here." I watched as Gobber wobbled out of the arena and fly away on his dragon Grump. We all seemed to flee to a different part of the arena. I sat in the corner farthest away from everyone else, and that was by the little Terror in the back right corner. The Terror crawled up to me and nudged at my hand. I rubbed my hand across it's scales while it cuddled up to my leg. With my free hand I took out my knife and held it up to my wrist. I closed my eyes and made a slit in my skin. I sharp pain filled my hand. Blood dripped from the cut that's know on my wrist.

"I didn't want to do this, but I had to know for sure." I told myself. I put my knife away and laid my wrist near the Terror's nose. It took it a while to catch the scent of blood before it shot it's head up. It eyed my cut for a while and then licked it. I gently smiled in success. I dabbed the gooey substance that was on my wrist.

"So Stormcloud's not the only one who can do it." I thought.

"So you said no?" I heard someone say.

"What do you want?" I asked Comet, keeping my eyes on the little dragon.

"I wanted to apologize." He admitted.

"Apology denied." I said.

"Hey, worm, get away from my girlfriend!" Bottonlout came running up to us. I pet the Terror one last time before standing up, my hand curled into fists.

"Comet I hate you, and almost nothing can changed that." I said sternly.

"You tell 'em babe." Bottonlout encouraged me. A spark in me just lit a fire and the fire inside me was ragging, with anger.

"I'm not you're babe!" I shouted at him. Gobber walked into the arena followed by a group of Deadly Nadders.

"Why only Nadders, Gobber?" Salmonfoot asked.

"You're going to Dragon Island and the Nadder has the most defence." Gobber answered. A Nadder walked up to one of the students. A green and yellow Nadder walked up to me. I patted its head and turned to Gobber.

"Why are we going to Dragon Island?" I asked.

"There are three reasons this academy was founded. To tame your own dragon, to train dragons, and to research dragons." Gobber said. He walked around the class passing out small journals. "Everything you see, hear, or learn that's interesting, you put in this journal." He said.

"You won't be going with us will you?" Comet guessed.

"No, I'll be here waiting for you to return. Know I'm guessing you all know where Dragon Island is?" Gobber asked. I've never been off the island, and he suspects us to know where it is?

"We know!" Shouted the Scruffnut. "Mom showed us after I got Vomit!" She said.

"You mean when I got Fart!" Buffnut punched her arm.

"No when I got Vomit!" Scruffnut pulled on Buffnut's hair.

"Fart!" Buffnut tackled his sister to the ground and they both started fight.

"We're going to trust those two with directions?" Bottonlout snickered.

"Not we, you are." Gobber said. "Know off you go?" I saddled on the Nadder that walked up to me. The twins climbed onto their Zippleback and lead the way out of the arena.

As we flew in the air, my Nadder seems to be nervous. Gobber wouldn't give us newly trained dragon's. It seemed like it was acting like Stormcloud before she saw me. I looked around and saw the other dragons seemed the same way. I took out my own journal my dad gave me and wrote it down.

"Writing something down already?" Salmonfoot asked me. I looked at him thinking it was joking, but when I realized he was sincere I answered.

"I saw something interesting." I said. After a while of pleasant silence, Bottonlout had to ruin the peace.

"So, I expect an apology." He said. His green and and lime dragon seemed anxious and kept looking around.

"So do I." I said.

"For what?" He asked. He seemed like he really didn't know.

"You joking right?" I asked. Bottonlout stared at me with a lost expression.

"Where to start? You nearly forced me to kiss you, you've annoyed me countless times, and let's not forget, you punched me!" I reminded him.

"Sorry, I don't apologize to anyone." Bottonlout crossed his arms and turned his back to me.

"You just did you idiot." Comet said. On the other side of Bottonlout was Comet hovering on a orange and white Nadder.

"Defending my girlfriend, I see." Scowled Bottonlout.

"If you two do not leave you will regret it." I spoke harshly to then, letting them know I meant every word.

"Oh I'm so scared." Comet said. Right about now I could knock him off his dragon. I lightly kicked my Nadder's side and its spikes pointed out.

"Believe me know?" I asked Comet.

"I believed you once, I'm not making that mistake again." He said. I reached back to the base of my dragon's tail and  pressed. One by one the poisonous spikes on its tail grew by a few inches.

"Believe me now?" I asked him.

"I do!" Bottonlout said. He flew ahead of us, hoping not to get shot.

"I don't." Comet said.

"You really want me to shoot at you?"

"If you shoot at least one shot at me, I'll leave." He said.

"Warning shot." I whispered to me Nadder. It flicked its tail and shot an over grown spike in front of Comet. In the missing pike's place grew another one.

"Fine I believe you, but I'm still not leaving." He said.

"Then I will." My Nadder flew ahead of him, and the rest of the trip was spent in silence.

"We're here!" Buffnut yelled out. After an hour ride we finally made it to Dragon Island.

"Well what do you know, they did it." Salmonfoot said.  We all flew down to the beach and rested.

Once we were on the beach, we slid off the dragons, and rested before we had to  fly into the woods.

"Should we go in pairs?" Bottonlout suddenly asked.

"I don't see why not." Comet sighed.

"I say no." I said.

"So do I." Salmonfoot said as he raised his hand.

"Why not?" Comet asked.

"Because if any of us goes with someone else, one of them will probably end up getting eaten." I answered.

"She has a point, but sadly Buffnut and I have to go together." Scruffnut groaned.

"So when should we be back?" Salmonfoot asked.

"Noon?" Bottonlout suggested. Everyone silently agreed by getting on their dragons. As hauled myself on my Nadder, it flew into the forest.

We flew around so slow trying to avoid branched that we eventually began walking. As we came up on an open field, wind began to whirl my hand around and a shadow blocked out the sun. When I looked up, a wing of wild Timberjack's flew over head. I immediately got out the journal Gobber gave me, and wrote it down. I kicked my Nadder and it flew up with the Timberjacks. I kept above them, making sure to keep away from their razor sharp wings. Until one of them noticed me did I fly back onto the island.

The group of Timberjacks must've scared most of the dragons, because all I saw on the island next was a Monstrous Nightmare, and a few Gronkles. When I was certain their were no more dragons on the island I decided to look off the island. There were dragons in the sea as well as land. Although we didn't know very many species. There was only three that I knew. The Thunderdrum, the rare Scoulderon, and the even more rare Bewilderbeast. There were no dragons that I could see. It was nearly noon and I've only seen three species. I decided to head back to the beach early, I wasn't going to bother myself with finding dragons.

I waited on the beach staring at the sky as the Nadder I rode, tried to fish.

"Looks like I'm not the only one, who gave up." I heard Comet say. I don't know what it was with these boys and coming up behind me.

"Go away."  I said.

"Where's your dragon?" He asked. It seemed like he didn't even hear me so I just pointed to the ocean in the direction my dragon was.

"Cool. So what dragons did you see?" He asked.

"You'll find out when we get back to the academy." I answered.

"So, you still hate me?" I thought about what he asked me for a while. I really hadn't thought about it since it happened.

"I'm mad at you." I eventually said.

"Why?" He asked. Comet walked over and sat down next to me. His dragon took a few steps away from us and lied down.

"You got in a fight with Bottonlout which lead to me getting punched, you stood there when I was getting harassed by Bottonlout at the dam, you tested me when we were flying here...Shall I go on?" Comet stared at me with guilt written all over his face. "You also..."

"Okay, okay, I get it!" He interrupted me. " I messed up, I'm a jerk, and I don't deserve to even sit here with you."

"See now you're getting it." I teased.

"But I'm glad I am." He smiled. I didn't say anything back. I looked away from him, too embarrassed to speak. How could he still smile like that after everything that has happened. I've known Comet for a long time, but I've never felt like this before.

I have to many grudges for me to count and Comet has nothing against me even though I've done him wrong since Dad put me in this stupid academy.

"Trying to mess with my girlfriend again, huh?" Bottonlout said as he came through the trees followed by his Nadder. Comet stood up and faced him.

"Bottonlout, you and I both know that she's not you're girlfriend." He told him.

"Well, I say she is"

"Does she say she is?"

"She says whatever I tell her to say! Right babe?" They both turned around to hear what I would say.

"If you two don't shut up, I swear to the gods, I will hurt you." I said calmly.

"That's a little drastic, don't you think?" I sweet voice said behind me. I turned around to see an unexpected person, on the top of a huge dragon called a Stormcutter.
