Chapter 14. The Chunnin Exam: 2

We chatted with Kabuto a bit. I had a bad feeling about him. His presence disturbed me. Well, whatever. It's not like I'm being forced to trust him with my life. He's on a different team which automatically makes him my enemy, but it wouldn't hurt to establish that later on in the exam.

3 presences stood out of the rest not including kabuto's . They were evil, and they were heading towards us. I looked over my shoulder.

The sound Ninja. 

"We'll show you that we're not ninja's to mess around with." The guy in the middle growled. He had a metal device on his arm. Weirdo.

He took a swing at kabuto who ducked and smirked.

Then threw up...

My eyes widened. The guy was from the sound. He must have sent a wave of frequency through that little device on his arm. The perfect level to make Kabuto sick...

"Quiet down you worthless bastards! What is this?"

That voice.. It could only be.

I smirked. "Well well, if it isn't Ibiki Morino."

I ran into the guy at the Hokage's office once, let's say.. It didn't end well.

Ibiki returned the smirk. "So the little punk's taking the chunin exams. Aren't you too much of a scaredy cat? Hah, just try to get past my test, okay brat?" 

I growled. "Listen Ibiki, I could kick your ass right here, right now."

"Okay punk, let's finish what we started last time." He responded angrily, but one of the other chunin that was helping out with this test grabbed his arm and whispered something to him.

"Oh..right." He cleared his throat and looked at me. "Another time, I'm the proctor for this exam."

I laughed. "Right...Scaredy cat."

He growled but turned and walked to the front of the classroom.

I realized everybody was staring at me. Awkward...

"Anyways, thanks for waiting. I'm Ibiki Morino, your exam proctor for the chunin selection exam's first test. Hidden sound ninja, stop doing as you please before the exam! Do you want to fail already?" He said, pointing and glaring at the hidden sound guys that attacked kabuto.

The guy in the middle spoke. "I apologize.. This is our first time, we didn't know the rules.."

"Listen up losers!" He said glaring at everyone. "This is a good time to say that there will be no fighting without the examiner's permission. And even then, killing will NOT be tolerated. The pigs that disobey me will fail immediatly. Do I make myself clear?"

Just about everyone was shaking and silent in fear. So imagine how Awkward I felt when I yelled, "Crystal!" In response to Ibiki's question.

"We will now start the first exam. Instead of your current seating arrangements, you will pick one of these tabs and sit in the seat assigned to you. We will then hand out the exams."

He explained the point system after we were seated, then passed out the test.

I smirked. So a paper test, eh? Very tricky Ibiki, but I know your mind games..

Naruto on the other hand looked freaked out. Ugh, looks like i'll have to do this for him.

I was seated next to some stranger. My competiton. So there was no way I was going to let him cheat off of me. I don't get nice vibes from him either.

The tests were handed out. I finished in 10 minutes. The questions were simple, dad didn't just educate me in the jutsu part of ninja training. I had some smarts too.

I looked at Naruto who was freaking out. Time to do this..

I layed my head down so it wouldn't look suspicious, and did the mind transfer jutsu. It was one of the first jutsu that I'd mastered.

I entered Naruto's body and quickly filled out the answers and left a little message on his hand informing him that it was me.

I left his body and checked on sakura. She was smart enough, she looked like she was on a good roll.

Sasuke had pulled out his sharingan and was copying hand movements of the chunin in front of his disguised as a genin.

I smirked. My team was sooo going to pass this test.

I looked around and noticed a bunch of different cheating methods. And I have to admit, some were pretty clever.

Minutes went by, and finally Morino spoke up. "And now.. The tenth question....

I'll explain the rules first. It's simple, you don't have to take the tenth question. But If you don't, you automatically fail the chunin exams."

Everyone muttered amongst themselves in the room and someone raised their hand. "Then why would we choose NOT to take the question?"

Ibiki laughed. "Because.... If you DO decide to take the 10th question, and get it wrong. You'll fail the exams AND lose the privelege of ever taking the chunin exams again. You will stay a genin for the rest of your miserable life.."

Silence. 

One by one, people started raising their hands and apologizing to their teammates. Guess they couldn't handle the stress, huh?

Sakura was looking at Naruto with a worried look on her face. 

No.. she can't be thinking...

Her hand went up slowly.

I growled under my breath. Then it stopped. 

I looked over at Naruto who had raised his hand.

What.

Sakura and Sasuke held the same expressin that I did. 

That is, until.

"DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE ME. I WILL NOT RUN!" Naruto yelled.

I felt myself brighten up in an instant. How could I doubt him, of course he wouldn't quit, not when he was so close. And he saved us by saying that. My guess is that Sakura would have felt pity for Naruto and would have raised her hand so that he wouldn't have to do it for the team.

Oh the love.

"I'll take it! Even if I become a genin forever, I'll still become hokage some day! So I don't care, I'm not afraid!" Naruto continued. I smiled, that little brat. You gotta love him.

He encouraged everyone who still hadn't left with those words. He really had an effect on people with his words..

Ibiki smirked. "I'll ask you again. You're life is depending on this question. This is your last chance to quit."

Shouldn't have used the word 'quit' Ibiki...

"I never quit and I never give up. I follow my unbending words, because that's my nindo, my ninja way!" Naruto yelled in response.

Well, looks like no one else is leaving. I counted. 78 people left. Large number of competition..

"Good decisions...To everyone still remaining. There's nothing left for me to do but tell you that is..

You passed."

"What?"

"What just happened?"

There were questions like that all around the room.

Oh shut up and be grateful you passed bakas! 

Ibiki smiled big. "There was never a tenth question. Or I suppose you could say, that those two choices WERE the tenth question."

"Then what was the point of the first nine questions?!" Somebody yelled.

"To test your intel gathering abilities of course. But then again, it's better to not cheat than to be caught cheating." Morino replied. 

I rolled my eyes. Of course this test would have second meanings. Ibiki Morino was a s-class interrogator.

 "Then what was the purpose of the tenth question?" Someone else asked.

"Well in a mission, there's a risk of life or death. Just because there's a risk of death, does that mean you're going to abort the mission?"

Wow... That actually makes sense...

"I had a feeling this test was like that!" Naruto yelled.

"LIAR!!!!" Sakura yelled from her seat behind Naruto. 

Those two.. Haha.

I sensed another jonin's chakra. Suddenly there was a crash through the window and a huge blur.

"Geez, not this one.. Ibiki muttered.

"It's no time to be celebrating you guys!" A woman with purple hair said loudly.

Wow.. She kind of reminds me of Naruto.

"I am the examiner for the second test, Anko Mitarashi! Now let's go, follow me!" She yelled. "Onward!"

One look at Sakura's face and I could tell that she thought that this exam proctor was a lot like Naruto too.

"You're early.. again!" Ibiki said.

"78?! You left 26 teams? The test was easy this time!" Anko said, glaring at Ibiki.

"No, there were just a lot of outstanding ones this time.." Ibiki muttered.

"Whatever, I'll cut that number in half at least during the second test! Now i'm getting excited.. Meet me at arena 44 tomorrow at 7am. And bring your ninja tools, It's a survival test." She said and disappeared.

Outside the door we all gathered.

"Congratulations guys! You passed the first exam. Now rest up, you're going to need it for the second exam tomorrow." Kakashi said with a close eyed smile.

*******The next day

I woke up at 5am and went for a relaxing morning jog before packing multiple kunai, shuriken, lots of other weapons, a water bottle, and other survival gear. I hid kunai around my ankles and around my waste and many other places. I strapped Inazuma on my back and tied my grey hair up so it wouldn't get in the way.

I had a great breakfast of sushi and milk.

And now I was ready for the second test.
