The Gold Serum

I glared at Michael and scoffed. "Really? You knew she'd be upset about being here! Why can't you try to make her feel more at home?" I asked furious. Michael raised his eyebrows and his eyes flashed green for a moment and I instantly knew. "I'm trying Luke! But do you know how hard it is to deal with her and Ashton? I don't know which one to look out for." I nodded and crossed my arms. Because of our past, he tells me things he would never dare tell anyone else. "I get it Mike, but you have to be careful with the way you treat her. You heard Ashton. This could be your only chance." He knew what I was talking about and pursed his lips. "You're right. I need to be careful." Michael said and left me standing in the middle of the main hall.
My wings folded against my back and I felt the sickness kick in. I could feel my chest getting tight and my legs locked up. I tried to take a breath but it was getting harder. Then the familiar taste filled my mouth and I spit out the tar black blood. It was getting worse. I limped back to my room and opened the drawer next to my bed and found one of the many vials I needed. I poured a little of the gold liquid in the palm of my hand and used a finger to dip in it and drew the Enochian symbols on my forearm and watched as they dissolved. No one needed to know.
After I composed myself, I breathed deeply, feeling the serum course through my veins. I was Ok for a while now. I looked in the mirror and my skin was was slick with sweat and my eyes had shadows beneath them. The serum would clear that up any minute now.
I walked back out of my room and was cautious about who I ran into. "Tell me all about your troubles." I froze and instantly became alert. Ashton. But who was he talking to? I neared the corner and saw Y/N standing in front of him. I bit my lip and made a decision.
"Oh there you are Y/N! I've been looking all over for you!" I said walking towards them. Her eyes thanked me and I nodded subtly. Ashton's eyes were red but they switched back to black. "Luke. How lovely for you to join us." He said coldly with a smile. I smiled back and wrapped my arm around Y/N's shoulders. "I was just about to take Y/N around the castle. I guess she'll have to talk with you another time then." I said keeping my eyes on his. He smirked and snapped an image of my sickness in my mind. That was his go to move. Threatening to show everyone what was really happening to me. I ignored it and played it cool. "It was really great chatting with you Ashton, but we need to get going." I guided Y/N around him and led her down a different hall.
"Thank you Luke. I didn't know what to do. And why did his eyes turn red?" She asked me. I felt her shiver and I extended a wing around her to keep her warm. "With Ashton, it's hard to tell. You see with the rest of us, we each have specific colors for different moods and situations. For instance, mine are burgundy right now. Pinch me." I held out my arm to her. She hesitated and looked up at me. I chuckled. "It won't hurt me." She nodded and pinched me with her petite fingers. I felt my eyes change and she gasped. "They're silver." She said in awe. I nodded and they switched back. "When I'm angry they turn white." I explained. Her jaw dropped and I laughed at her expression. "What?" I asked. She blinked. "Your eye colors are already the best in my opinion." She said making me blush.
"Well...uh. I know Calum isn't the friendliest dark angel, but his are pretty cool. When he gets mad they turn like an orangey red color. And pain for him is dark blue." She wrinkled her nose and looked at the paintings on the walls. "I still like yours the best." She added. I smiled and put my hands in the pockets of my skinny jeans. She made me feel human again. "You know, I think Michael's trying to find you. Should we go back to his room?" I asked. She stopped, sighed and nodded. "I probably should. Sorry." I waved off her apology and weaved through the never ending hall of hallways until I found the right one. The gray, black and white one. The floors were black marble and the walls were a granite kind of stone and the decorations were all white. We stopped in front of Michael's door and she thanked me and knocked. I waited with her to make sure she got in safely. The door swung open quickly and he looked from Y/N to me with his black eyes. "It's Calum. Something's wrong."
