Fifteen
02:36, 19 June 2025"I'm actually really surprised you stayed upstairs for dinner Yoongi." Naomi spoke up as she sat on her living room floor. She looked across the small wooden table where her brother sat opposite.
Yoongi looked across at her and nodded.
"Also, thanks for dinner. It was awesome." Naomi flashed him a genuine smile and the both of them nodded to each other, as if they were mentally agreeing.
It didn't happen often but it was nice to see.
"Anytime." Yoongi cleared his throat.
Piper sat beside Naomi as her eyes didn't leave the floor. In all honesty, her thoughts were elsewhere. She hardly heard anything Naomi and Yoongi had said during dinner, because she was too busy thinking about other things.
She jumped a little as Naomi's hand patted down on her leg.
"I'm going to jump in the shower." Naomi announced to everyone before she grabbed her phone from the table and stood up. She leaned forward to pick up her bowl but Yoongi waved her off.
"Don't worry about it, go." He nodded before glancing towards Piper.
"Ach, thanks bro." Naomi mocked a little before she turned around. "Come on, sweet friend." She held out her hand for Piper to take.
"I'll be right there. Go get washed up." Piper looked up at her, straining a smile before she grabbed hers and Naomi's bowl.
Naomi gave her a nod as her eyes flickered across to her brother before she left the living room. Piper stood up, leaning over as she picked up Yoongi's bowl too.
"You don't have to - " Yoongi began.
"It's fine." Piper mumbled before she quietly left the living room.
She made her way into the kitchen and sat the bowls into the sink before grabbing some dish soap and squeezed it over the dishes. Swiping up the sleeves of Yoongi's hoodie, she sighed as she grabbed a sponge and began to clean.
The room was quiet except from the running water, so Piper didn't hear Yoongi enter the kitchen. Just the smoothness of his deep voice behind her.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
Piper ignored him for a few seconds before she glanced to the side. "I'm fine." She lied.
"You're not fine." Yoongi told her.
Piper rolled her eyes as she sighed, but she continued on washing up.
She saw Yoongi walk up beside her, but she refused to look at him.
"Have I said something that's hurt you?" He asked, as he scratched his thumb nail down his cheek.
Piper shook her head.
"Talk to me, Piper. I've clearly done something. Something is circling in that mind of yours." He looked right at her.
Piper tried to ignore his piercing stare as she moved a bowl to the drying rack beside the sink. Moving another bowl to the drying rack, Yoongi softly grabbed her hands and pulled her a little. Piper looked up at him.
"Ignoring me isn't going to sort it." He quietly told her.
"I've been doing pretty well these past few years." Piper told him abruptly before she realized what she had said. Her mouth opened a little as she couldn't believe what she had just told him. As Yoongi frowned at her, she ripped her hands from his grip.
Finally putting up the last bowl on the drying rack, she threw up the cutlery before turning the water off.
She needed to get out of there.
"Piper." Yoongi quickly and sternly called after her, making her stop dead.
"Look, I'm fine. Can we just leave it?" She quietly told him as she kept her back to him.
"I really want too, but I don't believe you." He told her.
Her shoulders tensed as she tried to think of another excuse. She thought if she could just run to the front door, she could escape before he got to her but then she remembered her shoes were upstairs.
She felt Yoongi's presence walk up behind her. His hands pressed down on her shoulders softly as he rocked her a little. The tense feeling started to fade from her as she closed over her eyes.
"Talk to me, shorty." He quietly told her, in her right ear.
Sparks made their way up her spine, creating a warm feeling through her body. How would he react if she just turned around and kissed him? How would she react?
It was obvious he felt the tension in her shoulders, but it must've been more obvious that he felt her relax a little with his touch. She felt his hands move slightly across the back of her shoulders as his thumbs softly massaged the back of her neck.
This boy was insane.
Piper hung her head forward a little as she kept her eyes closed.
The image of Naomi walking into the kitchen and seeing the two of them was enough for her to shoot her eyes open and rip away from his grip.
"Yoongi - " Piper quickly turned to him and cleared her throat. The look on his face was different than she'd seen. He stared at her hard, yet with hope in his eyes. He looked over her face, yet his eyes kept dropping to her mouth as he took a step towards her.
She was imagining this right? There was no way this was happening.
Her mind raced and her breathing began to increase, as she quickly looked behind her. She could make a run for it. Shoes were overrated anyway.
As her feet began to move, she turned around to walk away but Yoongi took her arm to stop her. She was caught off guard that he didn't just stop her, but he pulled her towards him. Their bodies centimeters apart. Yoongi stared down at her, his mouth open slightly as she could tell his breathing had increased too.
"What are you doing?" Piper whispered to him.
"You drive me crazy." He almost immediately answered her before she could finish her question.
Piper swallowed hard as she looked into his eyes. He smirked a little, a small grin growing on his lips as he looked at her mouth again but Piper tore her eyes from him and pressed her free hand to his torso as she pushed herself away from him softly.
This time she didn't hesitate and she forced her legs to move as she quickly hurried out of the kitchen. She didn't even stop once she got to the stairs, she just hopped and swung herself around the banister, hoping she wouldn't miss her footing.
She quickly ran up the stairs and threw herself into Naomi's room. Slamming the door over a little, she stood against it and looked around the empty room.
What just happened?!
She tried to take deep breaths to slow her breathing.
What. Just. Happened?
