Piper was assigned coleslaw duty. She stood in the kitchen shredding up some cabbage and carrot. The kitchen was quiet and you could only hear faint music playing outside in the backyard.

Yoongi stood at the other counter beside her prepping some skewers. It was something Piper noticed about him from a young age. He liked to cook and was pretty decent at it.

Piper stood in silence as her mind raced. She felt more nervous being in silence.

Yoongi walked over to the sink and quickly washed his hands before drying them off. Piper heard him clear his throat quietly, and her ears perked up. He did that sometimes before he wanted to speak.

"I wanted to apologize again about last night." He simply told her.

Piper looked up before she turned around and faced him. She smiled at him and shrugged. "Okay, but I'm not sure exactly why you have to apologize..." She admitted. "...I knew what I was doing and if anything, I should thank you. I can't get myself out of situations sometimes, I'm too polite, so you coming over made it easier."

Yoongi chuckled a little as he leaned over and lifted his iced coffee. He took a sip as he thought before sitting it back down.

"Just tell them to piss off." He mocked a little as they laughed.

"That is a little difficult for me, but I'll try that." Piper giggled as she shook her head. She then turned back around and lifted up the knife she was using, before continuing chopping vegetables.

The room fell silent again.

"I can't believe Naomi texted Namjoon." She then spoke up, glancing towards Yoongi.

"Oh I know. I'm not really surprised, it's Mimi. She's too nosey for her own good sometimes. Namjoon texted me right away." Yoongi told her.

"He did?" Piper turned back to him with wide eyes.

"Yeah, he was terrified." Yoongi smirked as he tried to contain his laughter.

"Of Naomi..."

"No, of me." Yoongi then laughed. "As much as my sister gets on my nerves at times, she's still my little sister and I don't take her talking to guys that well - " He started as he folded his arms across his chest. " - but I also know, Namjoon's a good guy." He shrugged.

Piper smiled at him as she nodded.

"At least Naomi got a good guy..." She quietly spoke before she turned back around.

"I'm sure they are...one or two more out there." Yoongi told her.

Piper scoffed a little as she chopped into a carrot. "Well, not in this town and definitely not at that school."

"Maybe you should look closer to home." His deep voice told her and a spark shot up her spine. She widened her eyes as she turned to him. He stood staring at her, leaning against the kitchen counter. He then cocked his head to the side a little.

"Ahem..." Piper cleared her throat a little as she tried to say something. Nothing came out of her mouth, but when she saw Yoongi smile at her she couldn't help but smile back.

"Sorry." He then immediately said. "I didn't mean to make it awkward." He admitted."I'm kind of offended though, shorty. 'in this town' ?" He repeated as he held his hand to his chest.

"No, you are one of the good guys. It's just..." Piper trailed off as she tried to say something without embarrassing herself.

Yoongi's smile began to falter a little as he nodded, dropping his eyes to the floor. Piper frowned as she tried to understand the look that was emerging on his face. Disappointment? Sadness?

Yoongi's mom appeared from the backdoors as she grinned.

"How is everything going in here?" She looked back and forth between them as Piper turned to her.

"Yeah, great. I'm about done with this." Piper cleared her throat. She threw the last of the vegetables into a bowl before she grabbed some mayonnaise and mustard and made her way outside into the backyard.

The kitchen fell silent again as Yoongi looked at his mom.

"Is everything okay between..." She started as she pointed.

"Yeah mom, everything's fine. I've done these too." He told her, pointing at his prep work before he sighed.

His mom took a step forward as she glanced back out into the backyard.

"Don't give each other the silent treatment, eh?" She then smiled.

"What do you mean?" Yoongi frowned.

"Talk to the girl." His mom told him as she widened her eyes with a wide smile. She walked over to him and patted his shoulder softly before lifting the tray of food. "There is nothing worse than just assuming." She flashed Yoongi a small smirk before she wandered off into the backyard.

Yoongi stared after his mom before he began to chuckle. He shook his head before swiping some of his hair back.
