Six

It had been a couple of hours since Naomi had grabbed Piper and dragged her through the sea of college party goers. They started talking to a cool group of people near a set up of beer pong. Piper sighed as she stood, swirling her half drunk drink as Naomi chatted and laughed with everyone.

Yoongi had been keeping his distance, but his eyes remained on the girls when they could. 

"Here's a thought." Namjoon perked up, who stood beside Yoongi with a beer in hand.

"Why don't you just go over?" He smiled, glancing up at Yoongi.

"Nah, I don't want to be that brother. I told Naomi to be smart, so I'm just...keeping tabs." Yoongi sighed before taking a sip from a can of coke. 

"Admiring from afar?" Namjoon chuckled and earned a punch to the shoulder.

"I wasn't coming here tonight, but when Mimi found out - no going back. Last thing I wanted was for them to be here." Yoongi admitted. 

"These people aren't that bad..." Namjoon shrugged as he looked around.

"I know, but they are assholes here too." Yoongi nodded. "They'll have a field day with high school girls..."

"Dude, you're not that older!" Namjoon sighed. 

"Feels like it. Especially when you have a younger sister...and her friend." 

"Who...you've majorly liked since - how long? Since you were in high school?" Namjoon slapped his hand down firmly onto Yoongi's shoulder.

Yoongi sighed as he rolled his eyes. 

"We've known each other since we were kids. By kids, I mean eighth grade. The three of us practically grew up in each others pockets sometimes." 

Namjoon frowned as he looked across the room towards the girls. 

"The two of you never...hinted or anything? Has she ever?" He asked, glancing back at his friend.

"I honestly tried to ignore it, because of Mimi. If she found out - I don't want them to lose their friendship and I don't want to lose Piper." Yoongi nodded. "I mean, there's been times over the years where...I think we've flirted -  "

" - You think?!" Namjoon interrupted him. 

"It was more banter. I mean, the two of us kind of went through a phase of not talking to each other when we first met, to then talking a lot of bullshit when we started high school...but..." Yoongi trailed off before he sighed and shrugged.

"She's a pretty shy girl. I can be too, especially when it comes to her."

The two of them were caught off guard by a loud voice shouting in their ear. As they turned, Taehyung walked into their frame with his boxy grin. Taehyung wasn't in Yoongi's class but he knew him from around campus. He was a guy who thought he knew everything and thought he was everything.

He had coloured brown hair that sat on his head, almost resembling a neat mop. Tanned skin and was good looking, but he knew that.

"Hey guys. Yoongi! I didn't know you were coming tonight." Taehyung stood to the side and grinned at them.

"I wasn't but...I changed my mind." Yoongi started but stopped himself, as he stared at Taehyung with a straight face. 

Taehyung looked ahead and then back at the guys, as he narrowed his eyes.

"Looking up the ladies?" He mocked a little before he laughed. 

Namjoon nudged Yoongi, but Taehyung noticed it before he frowned. 

"Yours?" He asked, then raising his eyebrows. 

"No...but off limits." Namjoon nodded and took a sip of his beer. 

"What?! How so?" Taehyung folded over his arms.

Yoongi sighed. He wasn't going to get out of this. 

"It's my sister." He quietly told him. 

"Your sister's in college too?" Taehyung asked confused, before glancing back towards Naomi and Piper.

"No. Seniors...leave them alone." He warned as he dragged his eyes away from him.

"High schoolers? What are they doing here? Did you bring them to give them a taste of the college life?" Taehyung grinned.

Heh, hardly.

Yoongi ignored him as Namjoon quickly shook his head.

"Which one is your sister?" Taehyung asked.

"The purple top." Yoongi told him a little slowly and hesitantly, as he gritted his teeth a little.

Taehyung looked towards the girls as he nodded. "And the girl in black? Is she related to you?" 

"No, she's uh...she's like a sister."

"Be she's not your sister?"

"No."

"Hm!" Taehyung clapped his hands together as he sighed. "Well I'll be on my way, see you two later." He saluted them a little before he started to wander off towards the girls.

Yoongi took a step forward but Namjoon held him back. 

"Come on dude, not here." He told him quietly as he looked around.

"He's such a dickhead." Yoongi tutted as combed his fingers through his hair.

"They'll be fine." Namjoon reassured him with a smile. 

Yoongi watched as Taehyung walked up to the girls before leaning forward towards Piper.

"Hi there!" Taehyung held out his hand as Piper awkwardly shook it. 

"Hello." She politely nodded.

"Would you like another drink?" He pointed to her half empty glass. 

"Uh...sure." Piper nodded.

"What are you drinking?" He asked.

"Rum and coke."

"Oh, I like your taste." He cheekily grinned at her and winked a little. "I'll be right back." He told her before disappearing into the kitchen area. 

Piper sighed as she turned and noticed Yoongi and Namjoon staring in her direction. She cleared her throat a little before turning back around. 

Within minutes, Taehyung had returned and practically swapped drinks around in Piper's hand before she could even notice. 

"So, how are you enjoying the party?" He asked her, resting his eyes on hers.

"Oh. It's fine..." She looked away.

"Just fine? Come on - " He chuckled, looking around.

"Oh you're throwing a really good party..." Piper awkwardly shrugged as she tried to compliment him.

He chuckled at her response. "Don't worry, it's not mine. I won't tell the host either." He leaned in a little and lowered his voice. 

Piper rolled her lips together as she tried to mask a smile before she giggled.

Taehyung stood back a little and looked over her face, as he thought. Piper widened her eyes a little as she glanced around.

"What are you - " 

"You're cute." He butted in.

"Oh. Uh, thanks..." Piper cleared her throat. She glanced down at her glass and as much as her throat was beginning to dry out, Yoongi's words kept looping over in her head. 

' Don't drink anything you didn't see get poured yourself. ' 

"Hey, why don't we grab a quiet corner? I'd like to keep talking to you." Taehyung held out his hand as he smirked a little.

"Oh. Uh, okay..." Piper forced a smile as she nodded.
