Pairing: Kate Bishop x M!ReaderWarnings: Violence, Heated Making Out, Kate being a tease.Words: 4.5k+Request: YesSummary: The new superhero catches your eye before finding out about your vigilante work.

A bell rang, spreading the sound throughout the place as the door was pushed open. A figure kept walking, heading to one of the booths before taking a seat.

Grabbing the little menu, the girl opened it while taking a look over it. She loved Chinese food and there was a word going around the place that this small restaurant was the best.

Ever since she'd helped Clint, she'd become Hawkeye. Now, it was her second nature to help everyone who needed it and make sure that the streets were safe—or at least safer.

It had been strange to people at first, accepting a new hero who was like a child to them. But she proved herself enough to let everybody see that she was more than capable.

People respected her for being brave and willing to take such responsibility. For her, it was fun. She liked what she was doing. The fact it made others feel safer was a great bonus.

It wasn't easy to see her mother getting arrested, but she knew it was for the better. Maybe she wasn't a monster, but she definitely wasn't a good person too.

Kate still couldn't believe that the woman had framed her fiancé. It was like she never even knew the real Eleanor Bishop—like she had lived with a stranger.

"What can I get you today?" Kate's head shot up at the question before she sent an older lady a small awkward smile.

"Um, hi." Her throat cleared as she squinted her eyes at the menu. "I will just take the orange chicken with noodles. Thank you."

The older lady wrote the order down, focusing on the little notepad in her hand before flashing Kate a warm smile. "Anything to drink?" Her accent shining through as the girl looked at the options.

Her lips were pressed together and her eyebrows scrunched. "Just water, thank you." She grinned at the woman, playing with the menu card as the lady scribbled down again.

"Um, if you don't mind." Kate started as her head tilted to the side, her mouth shaped in an 'O' letter. "I heard that you have Chinese mooncakes here. Could I get them with a...chocolate filling maybe?"

The archer's face became nervous when the woman stopped writing and her eyes wandered to the girl as her head stayed directed at the notepad. Kate's eyes started jumping around when her anxiety spiked the longer the old woman stared at her.

The young hero's hand went to her neck as she scratched it, her eyes glued to the table as the awkward silence continued.

"Of course, you can, sweetie!" The silver-haired woman exclaimed with a huge smile on her face, chuckling to herself. "You should've seen your face, that was funny." She added as she continued writing down, shooting Kate a look as her eyes widened.

The girl chuckled a little, her nerves now calming down when she realized she didn't do anything wrong and the lady, apparently, just thought it would be funny to scare her a little.

"I'm Ms. Wong, by the way." The woman said with a smile. "Sometimes, my name works like a discount code for regulars." She laughed to herself, adding casually.

Her head whipped to the door when the bell rang again, signaling that someone else had come in.

The person waved at the lady as she did the same. "Your new apron is in the back!" She called out as the stranger headed behind the counter, uttering a small 'okay' in reply.

"A discount code?" Kate asked intrigued. She wasn't sure what Ms. Wong meant by it.

"Oh, you know, there are a few young people who come here often and don't have it the easiest. So, I give them a little discount. And let them call me by my name."

The lady explained, making Kate nod with an enlightened expression. That sounded nice. If the food was good, she would definitely come here more often.

"So, now, I say it's like a discount code." She chuckled out to Kate as the girl found it sweet.

"Kind of like my name for Avengers merchandise." Kate laughed with the woman.

Ms. Wong's smile widened as she opened her eyes more, pointing at the archer with the pen.

"Yes, the Hawkeye girl! You are cool." Kate chuckled to herself at the word Ms. Wong used to describe her.

It was nice that somebody helped others. In little ways, but always somehow. Cheaper meals could help a lot, especially, when it came to students. That was very nice of the woman.

"Oh, do you maybe have some kind of thing here that a customer can pay for another person's meal?" Kate asked sincerely with her hands folded on the table.

Ms. Wong looked at her with widened eyes, clearly surprised at the question. "I—well, not really. Why?" She asked, putting the notepad in her pocket as she looked at the girl curiously.

"Oh, I just thought I could leave money for a meal and someone who needs it could have it for free." Kate explained with a nervous smile as she played with her fingers.

The woman sent her a warm smile, clearly touched by the gesture of this young lady. "You can do that. That is very sweet of you." The lady's lips pursed as she put her hand over the other. "Do you have somebody? Cause if yes, they are very lucky." Ms. Wong exclaimed with a serious face but playfulness swirled in her tone.

A deep blush covered Kate's neck while going up to her cheeks and painting them red. "Oh—n-no, I don't. I'm a single-pringle." The girl chuckled nervously as Ms. Wong laughed at the wording.

There was a hint of a smirk on the woman's face when she stopped. "I will get somebody to bring you your food. It was nice to meet you." The lady said as Kate replied with the same, sending the woman a warm grin.

Ms. Wong walked away, starting a small conversation with the person behind the counter as Kate busied herself with her phone.

There were multiple articles about her being a new hero, helping people, and decreasing the crime rate. There were a few about her working with Clint too.

A lot of posts that young people put out on the internet, videos of Kate in action as excited fans yelled into the cameras of their phones.

It made her smile to see that there were people who supported her. It was definitely more helpful when she came across hateful comments. People saying that there was no need for another person to cause destruction.

That the hero label was just a ticket to free irresponsibility and a life without consequences. But Kate's new fans defended her fiercely already now. She could only imagine how much support she would have later.

"Hello." Someone spoke while a glass landed on her table. Her hand wrapped around it as her eyes stayed glued to the screen.

Her lips were slightly parted as her head slowly raised. "Hi—" Her breath was caught in her throat when her eyes landed on the server's face.

They widened quickly as they solely focused on the gorgeous features. Beautiful eyes with a perfect nose. She could look into them for hours. They were entrancing and you were not even looking at her.

Your lips were plump and she wondered how soft they would really feel. Her eyes wandered lower, noticing how your body was toned. Arms were exposed as veins were popping out on your biceps and forearms.

This led her to your hands. They looked big and strong, making her mind wander somewhere else involuntarily. It worsened even more when she noticed the bruises on your knuckles.

Her eyes switched at the sight before something started waving in front of her face. "Hello? Ma'am, are you okay?" Your voice snapped her out of her trance.

The worried and confused look on your face made her chuckle awkwardly before she cleared her throat. "Hi, yes, I-I'm okay, sorry." Her shy smile made your lips quirk up a little.

"Um—I—what were you saying? I kind of—you know—" She laughed nervously, stopping her sentence. "Spaced out for a second." She smiled cutely at you, fiddling with her hands as she dropped her phone on the table.

Grinning a little to yourself, your tongue went over your bottom lip before looking at her. "I said that my name is Y/n and your food will be ready in a second, ma'am." You informed her with your hands folded in front of you as you bowed slightly.

"Oh! That's great, thank you." She replied, nodding quickly as you smiled again. Her face dropped as her hand shot up to the back of her head, scratching it nervously when you turned around and started walking away.

Directing her eyes to the table, she slightly cleared her throat. "That was awesome." She mumbled out to herself embarrassed.

She couldn't believe she made a fool out of herself, acting like a flustered schoolgirl. It was embarrassing on so many levels to her and she was scolding herself for it.

She should've known how to hide these things better. Especially, now. She was an Avenger, she had to mask her emotions and not give things away easily.

And here she was, getting all blushy because of you—and your gorgeous face. Speaking of that, she felt like she'd seen it somewhere before. Her face changed into a focused one as her eyebrows scrunched up in thought.

Where could it have been? She was sure it hadn't been the first time she'd seen you. Her memory was failing her as she tried to recall any situation where she could've bumped into you.

Maybe you were one of the bad guys? Her eyes widened at the thought, anxiously fiddling with her fingers as she moved her eyes to you. You were standing behind the counter, talking to Ms. Wong.

Kate's eyes squinted in suspicion, trying to determine if someone like you could be bad. Not that she knew you, but still, instincts.

Shaking her head with a huff, she looked at the ceiling as her eyes rolled. It was ridiculous. You couldn't be bad. With these dreamy and pure eyes, a warm smile—

She closed her eyes, trying to stop her thoughts from going further. But she still needed to know how she knew you. She was sure she did.

"Here is your food, ma'am." Your voice startled her slightly as she looked up at you with a shy smile. Her plate landed in front of her, steam going off of it as it was freshly made.

She couldn't help herself. Her eyes were roaming your body as she tried not to get too excited. She needed to control herself. It was ridiculous, she just met you.

But these muscles. And that face. She was looking from the corner of her eye, trying not to get caught.

Her head tilted for a second as she licked her bottom lip. "Do I know you?" She burst out suddenly, shocking you a little when your mouth dropped open as you were turning to walk away.

"Sorry! I didn't mean to be rude, I just feel like I've seen you somewhere." She explained quickly after she'd seen your reaction, hoping she wasn't too pushy or rude.

You blinked a few times, looking down at the table before you directed your gaze back at her. "I'm Y/n L/n. Maybe the last name will help." You smiled at her warmly as you could see the gears turning in her head.

She looked cute like that, focused and confused. With her nose scrunched up in an adorable way. "Oh! We had classes together in college." Her smile shone brightly at you as she showed you her pearly white teeth.

"That is correct." You confirmed with a polite smile.

"I remember you, you were good at martial arts too." She added with a small smirk, making you raise your eyebrow as you noticed it.

She quickly cleared her throat, trying not to seem to cheeky or cocky as you nodded. "I participated in a few. You were the archer girl, Kate, right? If I remember correctly, you always won in archery." You praised her back and she looked down with a proud expression.

"Well, I've just trained ever since I was little. It was thanks to a hero I saw and it made me want to help others too. So, a bow and arrows were my thing for—" She stopped her rambling when she noticed your huge open-mouthed grin.

Why were you smiling like that? Did she have something on her face?

"What?" She asked shyly as she slumped down slightly in her spot.

"Nothing, it was just cute how you rambled." Your eyes widened when you realized what you said. "I—I'm sorry, I should go back to work." You said quickly, sending her an awkward smile before quickly scrambling away.

Kate watched you as Ms. Wong said something in your direction with a teasing smile. She could see how your head dropped while you pinched the bridge of your nose in annoyance.

But the old woman seemed to have fun with whatever was going on there as she started laughing with her head being thrown back.

She smiled goofily to herself as she leaned back in her spot, playing with the chopsticks in her hand.

——

A couple of weeks had passed since Kate had gone to the little Chinese restaurant where you worked at. She'd been visiting the place very often—every chance she'd gotten really.

Her mind had been trying to convince her it was for the food—and without a doubt it was a part of it, it was amazing—but the main reason was you.

She just wasn't ready to admit it to herself yet, but she couldn't resist seeing your face again and again. You'd gotten closer every time she came over, talking during your breaks and sometimes after them too.

But something was suspicious. Kate noticed how the temperature changed when you were around. She'd made a comment about a hot drink once and you'd brought her the same one but way colder. It'd happened in a second basically, raising her suspicions.

Anyway, Ms. Wong had been just standing behind the counter with the biggest smirk ever plastered on her face as she had watched the two of you each time.

Her teasing had gotten to another level each time Kate hadn't been around. Not that it would stop when Kate would be around. It'd seemed like it had been going on every second of every day.

Just like now when you glanced over and saw her smug smile, her eyes directed at you as she was cleaning glasses. Trying to avoid her look, you gazed back at Kate who was eating her orange chicken with noodles.

You knew what the woman was trying to do.

Playing a matchmaker for you was nothing new.

"Why are you working here exactly?" The girl's question came out muffled as she slurped in the noodles. Her head lowered to the plate as she was looking up at you.

You slightly opened your mouth before lowering your gaze to the table. Breathing out with a smile, you fiddled with a napkin. "Oh, I—after graduating, I just got a place near my mom, here in the neighborhood, so it'd be easier to take care of her." You told her, folding your hands together.

It was weird for you to talk about it. People usually did not care about this stuff. But with Kate, it felt like you could tell her anything.

"And the apartment here was way cheaper, it helps me with paying off my student loans." You added with a tight-lipped smile as she scrunched up her face at you.

Taking a bite of her chocolate mooncake, she cutely tilted her head at you. "How do you do that working at this small restaurant?" Her question made you stutter a little, but before you could answer, her phone beeped a few times.

A feeling of relief washed over you at the interruption. She chuckled at you nervously as you did the same, your hands sweating a little.

"I gotta go, but I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?" She asked as she started quickly gathering her food.

An unsure look appeared on her face as she waited for your response. "Yes, of course!" You said in a happy tone. Too happy and squeaky as she bit her lip lightly, looking at you with a certain look.

"I—uh—I gotta go back to work too. I will see you around, Katie." You told her while standing up and giving her a little side hug.

As you pulled away, she had a small smirk on her lips. "Katie, huh? That's cute." She said lowly, leaving you with wide eyes as you realized what you'd called her only now. "I'll see you around." She added, slightly wiggling her eyebrows at you before leaving the restaurant.

Your breath was caught in your throat as you stood frozen in your spot. Your eyes trailing after the girl as she smiled at you from the outside.

The sound of your watch snapped you out of your thoughts as you quickly looked at it. Eyebrows scrunching before you whipped your head to your boss. "Ms. Wong, I have an emergency."

She just waved at you with a blank face, making you smile and yell out a 'thank you' before quickly taking off your apron and running out of the restaurant.

——

Dropping from a building, she landed right on the guy's shoulders before pulling herself down. It successfully caused the man to do a small side flip before falling flat on the ground.

His head raised quickly as the girl's foot connected with it, making him groan loudly before landing on his back. "What the—" Another man didn't get to say his piece as she picked up a gun and threw it right at his face.

He grunted in pain as he held his nose while Kate ran at him. Jumping up, she bounced off of his body just to raise her other leg higher and deliver a kick to his head.

His body dropped to the ground before he quickly got on his feet, checking his face. "You little—" A low roundhouse kick shut his mouth as she smirked to herself.

"That was fun." Her satisfied face dropped quickly as she heard yelling and saw a group of men running in her direction. "That doesn't look like fun anymore."

They quickly got to her and she dodged the first punch, going low on her legs before swiping the man's feet. Getting up, she blocked another incoming hit as she punched another guy in the chin from below.

His eyes went still as he stumbled backwards. She heard a gun click, making her quickly turn around just to see a masked person running up a car while the men looked horrified.

They stood frozen as the person jumped up while ice daggers formed in their hands before swiftly kicking three of the men and throwing the small blades at them.

They fell like flies as the person's feet connected with the ground. "Who are you?" Kate breathed out in shock, making the person's head whip to her.

She stumbled back a little when she saw the person's eyes. They were very familiar. The pair she was sure would be implanted in her head forever.

The bright blue she could not mistake for anyone else.

"Y/n?" She breathed out shocked as her eyes widened. You stared at her for a second before directing your eyes at the ground, not being sure what to say.

Her eyes were glued to you as she felt like she couldn't move an inch. "I will explain everything but not here." You said finally, moving your eyes back to her.

——

Pushing the door open, you let the girl walk in first as you followed behind her. You'd both been quiet the whole time back to your apartment.

She was silently looking around your place as you put the keys down before taking off the mask after doing the same with the hood.

You straightened up, watching her curious face as her eyes were trailing all around. Taking notice of the pictures hanging on the wall, she stopped for a second to take a better look.

As you stepped farther into the living area, she cleared her throat and looked at you sternly. "So? Will you tell me now?" She tried to sound serious, but you knew it was just a facade she wanted to put on.

"No need to play a bad cop. I will tell you everything." Her face washed with slight relief as you gestured to the seats.

She walked over but not taking a seat, leaving her eyes on you. Almost as if she thought it would assert her dominance more.

"I am what people would call a vigilante. Maybe not entirely, cause I do it for money too." You felt a pang of shame in your chest when you said it out loud. "It helps with paying off my student loans. It also helps me with taking care of my mom and making sure she has everything she needs." You explained to her slowly as you came up to a small table.

She looked at you curiously as she listened, fiddling with her fingers while gazing at you every now and then.

Her face looked like she was slowly processing the information you were giving her.

"I've been training ever since I was little, I have ice powers and I can punch a hole through basically anything."

Kate's mouth opened with her eyebrows shooting up. Her eyes were blinking rapidly as she tried to let everything sink in. "That sounds—cool." She said, nodding as her lips tugged down for a second.

Her arms crossed over her chest.

You felt better upon seeing her reaction. You were worried it would be much worse.

"And now I understand how you get the money to survive in this city." She added, making you chuckle lightly as she came closer to you. "I will not tell anybody, but you need to promise that you will stop doing this for money."

You looked at her intrigued, a teasing smile gracing your lips. "But I need to pay off my debt."

Her eyes rolled at your words as she slapped your arm, leaving her hand on it. "I will help."

Your face changed to serious very fast when you heard her. "What? I can't let you—" Her finger pressed against your lips, shutting you up as she looked into your eyes.

You both froze at the action. Neither you, nor her expected this move. Her mouth opened slightly as her eyes began jumping all over your face. She was so close to you, you could feel her body pressing against you as she inched closer with her head.

Her eyes dropping to your lips just as yours did. Your mouths moving closer to each other to the point you could feel her breath on yours.

It was a second later that your lips connected.

It was calm at first before her mouth moved harder against yours. Her hand went up to your neck, cupping it as she pulled you closer.

You could feel your body heat rising drastically. And your powers were about ice, so that was something. Getting hotter and hotter, you used your hand to cup her cheek as the other one went around her waist.

She made a sound against your lips as you gripped her tighter, the kiss becoming harsher as she bit your bottom lip. With a few steps, she caused you to fall on the couch while she straddled you.

You were not sure if this was the best move.

It worried you that going too fast could ruin everything.

And you really liked her.

Your both arms grabbed her waist as she moved on your lap, eliciting a low groan from you. She used it to slip her tongue in your mouth as you kissed harder, deepening it.

The worry flew out of your head instantly as there were more important things at hand.

You both were running out of breath but none of you wanted to stop. "Y/n/n, did you get the—Oh my God!" A loud scream made you break the kiss anyway when your heads whipped to the person with horrified looks.

"Mom!" You yelled out while she was standing with a widely opened mouth as her arms were at her sides. The bags with groceries were sprawled on the floor while she was completely stunned. "Why didn't you knock?"

She wasn't even blinking when Kate scurried off of your lap and you quickly followed, standing on your feet. The girl was looking everywhere but at your mother as she smoothed out her clothes.

"You left the door open." She gestured to the entrance. "If that's not a welcome sign, I don't know what is." She replied to you, waving her hand as her black, long locks bounced on her head. "And who is it, won't you introduce me?" She directed the question at you as her eyes looked at Kate softly while she sent her a warm smile.

"It's Kate, my uh—" You stopped yourself, not really knowing what to call her now. You weren't sure where you two stood after the situation.

The girl turned to you slightly, raising an eyebrow at you amusedly as she let you sweat for a little longer. "Girlfriend." You could feel your cheeks heat up at the title. "We used to go to the same college. It's nice to meet you, Mrs. L/n." Kate said to your mom as they shook their hands.

Girlfriend.

At least you knew where you stood.

Your heart was beating a million miles per hour.

"I have to go. I'll text you when I'm home." She said out loud, directing the second half at you. She leaned up to kiss you on the cheek before bowing slightly to your mom with a sweet smile as she passed her on the way out.

The black-haired woman tilted her body and watched the girl until the door closed. Her smirk was wider than Ms. Wong's and your eyes rolled as you knew what she would be thinking now.

"I don't want to hear it now." She quickly raised her hands up in defense as you came up to her and picked up the bags.

She stayed quiet when you both went to the kitchen and put the groceries down.

"I like her." She said quickly when you passed her on your way to the living room. The words elicited a groan from you as you dropped on the couch, covering your face while she chuckled to herself.

It was good news tho. Because you definitely liked Kate as well.

It's good she didn't walk in on them too late👀 Let me know what you think in the comments!
