Chapter 36: The battle part 1

"3...2...1...BEGIN!" All Might's voice bellowed over the intercom.

"Jiro do it" Deku said as soon as they entered the arena. She'd recently gotten a new piece of support gear that basically acted as a sonar device. So when she sent out her waves of sound she'd get feedback on her display meaning she could detect enemies at a larger radius and not just through walls.

"Nobody in this sector" she said giving them the all clear.

"Ok onto the next one. Everybody keep a lookout we need to maintain the element of surprise for as long as possible" Deku said keeping an eye out for any signs of movement.

"Yeah about that Midoriya as soon as I defect where they are they're going to know they're up against me. It's not exactly discreet" Jiro explained.

"Yeah I know I figured as much. It's ok they still won't know where we're coming from or who the rest of us are until we're seen. Just stick to the plan for now" Deku said reassuring them that his strategy would work.

"Alright Midoriya. Hey we've reached the next sector. Jiro you're up" Kirishima said as they formed a circle around her keeping an eye out for any attack that might come.

"They're here. About 300 meters that way" she said pointing to her right.

"Then let's go. Everybody stay low and keep quiet we still have the upper hand so let's use it" Deku said. Since they were following his plan they'd all agreed that he should lead. Naturally Deku ended up leading the group most of the time anyway. His quick thinking and natural ability for strategy made him a great leader as well as his ability to inspire those around him to give their all.

"200 meters" Jiro warned.

"Then stop scanning for them otherwise they'll know we're getting closer and what direction too" Iida said. She did as he said.

So far so good. We've found them in next to no time at all. Let's just hope they don't see us coming otherwise my plan is going to be a little difficult to pull off.

"Hey guys I can see them" Kirishima whispered. Every one of them quickly dove for cover so they could analyse the situation. Yaoyorozu, Todoroki, Kaminari and Bakugo had bunkered down in some rubble with a ruined building behind them.

That'll work in our favour. We can box them in and they'll have nowhere to go. However something is bugging me and I can't quite put my finger on it. I feel like there's more to this than a simple villain escape. We didn't have a lot of information we were just told who they were, they had reinforcements incoming and they were trying to escape. But why? What were they trying to escape with? Or who were they trying to escape with? There's something else going on with this exercise.

"It doesn't seem like they've noticed us yet" Iida stated.

"Yeah but they know we're coming. Yaoyorozu will have alerted them she knows about my knew sonar" Jiro informed them.

"It's ok. They only know who one of their opponents is and they don't know how many more opponents they'll have to face or who they are. Their best bet is to hold out for reinforcements. Which means we have to capture them right here and now" Deku explained.

"Right. We're gonna take them totally by surprise and have all 3 of them in cuffs before they even know what 'em" Kirishima said getting excited.

"Calm down Kirishima we've got a lot of work to do. I honestly think finding them is going to be the easiest part of this whole exercise. The real test starts now. You all remember the plan?" Deku asked.

"Yeah we know what to do Midoriya. Just lead the way" Kirishima said giving him a thumbs up.

"Alright. Let's get as close as possible first. The less distance we have to cover the better" Deku said before vaulting over their cover and moving to the next. They followed suit all of them slowly moving from cover to cover careful not to be seen.

"That's close enough Midoriya. Any closer and they'll see us coming" Iida said. He was right they weren't far away at all they were within firing range of Todoroki, Bakugo and Kaminari.

An interesting match up. All of our quirks and fighting styles mean we have to get up close in a fight. With the exception of Jiro she can sort of fight from a distance. Whereas 3 of their team have quirks that allow them to fight at long distance although without Kaminari's support equipment he'd never be able to safely aim his electricity without taking his team out. Yaoyorozu knows how to make cannons too but I can't see any. Strange she'll definitely have made something to help defend against us. So what is it and where is it?

"Midoriya we ready?" Jiro asked.

"Yeah. Just be careful. Yaoyorozu will have made something to help them defend against us but I can't see anything. My gut is telling me she planted mines. There's only this one approach to them and the building behind them boxes them in but it also means we can't sneak up behind them. We have to charge them head on because of their position. Meaning mines would be perfect that way we might not even get close to them. What they couldn't have accounted for however is that their current position is advantageous to my plan. Smart but it's ultimately put them at a disadvantage without them realising it" Deku explained.

"...so in short watch your step" Kirishima joked after hearing Deku ramble on.

"Yeah. Sorry I know I ramble" Deku apologised.

"Hey it's all good man I mean if you hadn't-" Kirishima began but Jiro cut him off.

"Guys we're wasting precious time here. If we're gonna do this we need to do it right now" she said.

"Right. Ok on my mark" Deku said raising his hand and holding it their for a second waiting for a good opportunity to execute his plan.

"NOW!" he said swinging his hand down signalling for them to attack. They all began sprinting towards the group however Iida and Deku were refraining from using their quirks to run ahead. They stuck together as a group for the time being.

"SURRENDER YOURSELVES VILLAINS THERE IS NO ESCAPE!" Iida bellowed getting their attention.

"OVER THERE!" they heard Kaminari shout to his teammates.

"I got this! DIIIIIEEEEEE!" Bakugo screamed as he launched an enormous explosion towards them.

Perfect he did exactly what I thought he would and he played this right into our hands.

"Now Iida!" he said. He understood and just like that Deku's plan was beginning to be executed. The explosion hit leaving a huge cloud of black smoke where it did.

"Damnit where are they? I can't see" Kaminari said.

"Just stay alert. There's nowhere they could've gone it's a straight shot up this street to us there's no other path" Todoroki warned.

"Hopefully they're all dead" Bakugo said a wide smile showing on his face.

"Are you sure you want to be a hero?" Kaminari asked.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT OF COURSE I DO!" Bakugo screamed at him.

"Both of you cut it out you're breaking character we're supposed to be villains here. Bakugo was doing a great job of that until you said anything Kaminari" Yaoyorozu scolded them.

"Yeah sorry forgot about that" he apologised.

"Whatever" Bakugo grumbled.

"Heartbeat Distortion!" Jiro suddenly screamed from inside the cloud of smoke Bakugo's explosion had left.

"Everybody move!" Yaoyorozu warned. It was too late the ground had already started breaking apart and they were sent flying into the air. The smoke had cleared up and they could see Jiro and Kirishima still standing where the cloud had been. Every one of them had the same thought.

"Where the hell did Midoriya and Iida go?" Kaminari asked. Suddenly Todoroki and Bakugo were handcuffed as Deku and Iida appeared next to them.

"When did you-" Yaoyorozu began but she was cut off by Iida landing a kick to her face slamming her into the building behind her.

"Damn you Iida take thi-" Kaminari began but this time it was Deku who landed a kick using his shoot style sending Kaminari into the building too. Both he and Yaoyorozu had been knocked out cold and began to fall but thankfully Kirishima and Jiro had moved underneath them and were waiting to catch them before cuffing them. Just like that they had caught all 4 of them in a matter of seconds.

"We did it we have all 4 of them!" Kirishima exclaimed getting excited.

"Kirishima calm down we're not done yet. Remember we have to extract them still" Deku reminded him.

"Yeah I know I'm just surprised how easily we caught them" he said.

"SHUTUP SHITTY HAIR!" Bakugo screamed insulted by his words. The thing is everybody was surprised at how quickly they'd gotten the 4 of them into custody.

"It was all thanks to Midoriya's plan" Iida said proudly acknowledging his classmate.

"Guys come on focus. Reinforcements could arrive at any minute. We'll have time to praise each other later let's extract them while we have the chance" Deku said not dropping his guard.

"Jeez Midoriya relax would you. We got them that quickly I doubt reinforcements are anywhere near here. Didn't you say we should still be patient despite being on the clock?" Kirishima asked.

"Yes but that doesn't mean drop your guard Kirishima. You're all letting the blood rush to your head when you should be focused on the extraction" Deku scolded them.

"He's right we're all getting too caught up in the moment we need to focus" Jiro agreed realising they could've been well on their way by now.

"Then let's move. Since we don't have any info on the scale of the reinforcement we should stick together to maximize our chances of success. Everybody grab your prisoner and let's go" Iida ordered regaining his composure. They all began to head back the way they'd came to the exit of the arena hoping to get there before the reinforcements arrive.

Something still isn't right. It already felt off before we engaged them but then capturing them turned out to be really easy. I thought Yaoyorozu planted mines but it turns out she didn't create anything to help defend against us which makes no sense. It's kind of like they wanted to be caught..which means...

"GUYS WAIT A SECOND IT'S A-" Deku tried to warn the rest of his squad but it was too late. Kirishima and Jiro had already stepped on the mines causing them to explode and send them flying into the air. Both of them were immediately knocked unconscious. As soon as this happened Yaoyorozu and Kaminari miraculously regained consciousness.

So she did make mines after all. Except these weren't here before so who put them there?

"Iida watch out!" Deku warned him as he saw Kaminari lining up his shot. Again he was too late the electricity hit him and the charge through his body managed to knock him unconscious too.

So I'm... I'm...on my own...if they get knocked unconscious that counts as a death. That's what they said. It's just me against them.

"Midoriya. Hand Bakugo over and we'll leave without giving you any trouble" Todoroki threatened now free of his cuffs.

I can't fight them. Not with Kacchan still cuffed to me. Damn it what do I do?

"Come on man just let him go and we won't have to take you out too" Kaminari threatened this time. They were really playing up to their acts of playing villains.

Wait a minute they're all stood together. If I release Kacchan's cuffs as I throw him at then I can use One for All to escape. None of them have anything that could keep up with me not even Kacchan with his turbo boost. I'm just gonna have to cut and run.

"Alright fine. You win. You can have him" Deku said pretending he was defeated.

"Wait seriously?" Kaminari asked surprised by his decision. Deku was the last person to walk away from a fight.

"Yeah seriously I'll release him. Nice trick playing unconscious by the way you were both very convincing" Deku complimented their strategy to try and distract them.

"What are you going on about? Why the hell are you complimenting our strategies? Just give us back our-" Todoroki was cut off by Deku hurling Bakugo in their direction.

"Here have him!" he screamed before activating One for All and sprinting away as fast as he could the moment he'd hurled Bakugo at them.

"You bastard!" Bakugo screamed before using his quirk to stop himself from crashing into his teammates.

"Damn it where'd he go?" Kaminari asked.

"He's gone hiding somewhere. Is everyone else ready?" Bakugo asked.

"Yes sir they're all awaiting your orders" Yaoyorozu replied.

"Good. Let's go hunt us a hero..."
