Chapter 19: Good morning?

22:59, 19 September 2019

Deku woke up way earlier than he needed to and after the talk he'd had with his mother last night he had hardly slept. He couldn't stop thinking about all the things she had said to him. It kept going round and round on his head on repeat word for word. He couldn't think straight.

"Morning handsome" Uraraka said as she snuck up behind him and hugged him tightly snapping him out of his trance.

"Oh um hey Uraraka I mean Ochako. Did you sleep well?" he asked trying to seem natural but failing miserably. She let go of him as he turned around to face her.

Something's wrong. He doesn't seem like his usual self.

"What's wrong Deku?" she asked concerned.

"Oh it's nothing my mom and I had a little talk last night that kept me up late and I didn't sleep very well either" he said honestly although he was never going to tell her that he and his mother had been up so late having the "birds and the bees" conversation.

Is it just me or does nobody actually understand that metaphor? Like who thought birds and bees was a good example for a sex metaphor?

Uraraka could see that he didn't want to talk about it and seeing as it had been a private conversation between mother and son she thought she'd keep it that way it wasn't her place to butt in. That didn't stop her from making a joke in an attempt to cheer her boyfriend up.

"Has she been having coffee with All Might? I called it" she teased giggling a little.

"I wish" Deku said not even the smallest hint of a smile on his face.

"Wow that bad?" she asked worried.

"No it's not that what we talked about was bad. In fact it was good I'm glad we did it answered a lot of questions for me it's just a lot to take in that's all" he said looking down at his feet a little disheartened. Uraraka cupped his chin and lifted his head a little before leaning in and kissing him. She held it for a few moments making it long and passionate before pulling back just a tiny bit so there lips were still practically touching.

"I'm here for you. If you ever wanna talk about anything. Don't bottle things up Deku because it's not just about you anymore. From now on your problems are my problems too you got that?" she asked gazing into his eyes getting lost in them. She'd meant to come across as sincere but she knew the look on her face was an entirely different expression. Deku smiled.

"Well the same goes for you Ochako. Your problems are my problems" he said demanding the same promises she was asking him to make to her.

"Seems fair. Now shutup and kiss me some more" she said not able to resist him any longer. The two of them began kissing right there in the middle of the living room but this was different than their previous make out sessions. It had been wild and erratic before but this was the opposite. It was slow and passionate and romantic.

"Oh dear I appear to have walked in on something" Inko said making the two teenagers jump back from each other and going very red faced.

"Oh hi mom good morning you're awake why are you awake?" Deku said not knowing what to say and ending up just saying his thoughts out loud. His mother had just caught him making out with his girlfriend in their living room the morning after she'd talked to him about sex.

She better not make any assumptions or I might just die of a heart attack right here and now.

"Yes I'm awake I wanted to say goodbye before you left" she explained.

"Good morning Inko" Uraraka said trying to hide her embarrassment that she'd been caught with Deku by his mother.

"Good morning Ochako. You can wipe those silly looks off your faces you two you were only kissing it's fine. Not like I haven't seen people kiss before and it's not like I didn't know you two kissed each other on stage at the karaoke. Speaking of which Izuku I never realised you could be so smooth" Inko said laughing at the embarrassment on the two faces of the teenagers.

"You make it sound like you were there" Deku said confused by his mother's words.

"Oh I wasn't. I've just seen the video I don't know how many times" she explained.

"VIDEO!?" the two teenagers screamed in unison.

"You didn't know? Oh that's cute" Inko said as she began laughing.

"Mom where did you see this video? Was it on the internet?" Deku asked his mother worried his first kiss was out there for anybody in the world to see.

"No of course not" she said. Deku and Uraraka let out a sigh of relief.

"All Might sent it to me" she explained.

"WHAT!?" they both shouted in unison again.

"Somehow that's worse" Deku mumbled to himself.

"Can we see it?" Uraraka asked.

"Sure my phone is right there on the table just open it and find All Might in my text conversations" she said pointing to the device. Deku snatched it up quickly finding the video. The two of them watched on in horror at their first kiss on that stage.

"I can't believe he filmed us" Deku said in disbelief. Uraraka took the phone off of him and forwarded the video to another number before putting it back down.

"I can't believe you didn't notice from the sounds of it your whole class was filming you" Inko said laughing again at their innocence.

"She's right Deku. I saw a lot of phones in that crowd" Uraraka said.

"Seriously? Am I the only one who didn't notice?" Deku asked dumbfounded.

"Seems that way doesn't it?" Inko said still laughing. Suddenly Uraraka began laughing too.

"What's so damn funny?" Deku asked getting frustrated.

"How naïve you can be sometimes" his mother said.

"How we got so embarrassed that your mother saw us kissing which is nothing when you think about it. Compared to that which was out first kiss your mom catching us having a moment isn't exactly embarrassing is it Deku?" she said still laughing at the idea that they weren't embarrassed about kissing on a stage in front of all their teachers and friends but suddenly Deku's mom sees them having a moment together in her living room and it's the end of the world.

"She gets it" Inko said smiling at the girl.

"I suppose when you think about it like that it is pretty funny" Deku said a smile creeping up on his face.

"Exactly. Now hurry up and get ready otherwise you'll miss your train" Inko said hurrying the two of them along. They grabbed their things and Uraraka returned the pyjamas she had borrowed for the night. She also stroked Charlie and bid her farewell before meeting Deku at the door.

"Ok bye mom I'll see you next weekend" Deku said giving his mother a hug.

"I love you son" she said hugging him very tightly.

"I love you too mom" he replied. They let go and Inko turned to Uraraka.

"You're welcome anytime Ochako. It was lovely to meet you" she said before hugging the girl.

"Oh um thank you Inko it was nice meeting you too" she said a little taken aback by the hug but she returned her embrace.

"Keep an eye on him for me" Inko whispered into her ear.

"I will" she promised. Satisfied Inko let her go.

"Ok off you go you've still got to change into your uniform back at the dorm and have a shower" Inko said not wanting to make them late for school.

"Bye mom" Deku said waving goodbye as they walked away.

"Bye Inko" Uraraka said doing the same.

"Goodbye you two be safe" she said winking at Deku for that last part. His body language suddenly got very tense however he didn't know that Uraraka had noticed the wink from his mother and the sudden tenseness in his shoulders.

"What was that about?" she asked.

"Nothing" Deku said not wanting to talk about it.

"Hey you promised me no bottling things up so what's wrong?" she said making him stop. He couldn't look her in the eyes.

He doesn't seem like he's scared or worried about something he just seems really embarrassed to tell me. It's not too serious then so that's good.

"Look I don't mind telling you but can we do it later? I don't really know where to begin or what to say at the minute so let me think about it and I'll tell you later tonight at my room?" he asked trying to buy himself as much time as possible. The truth is he wanted to avoid this conversation if he could but he made a promise and he was going to keep it.

"Ok that's fine I don't mind if you want to take time to think about it. Just as long as you tell me what's going on" she said smiling at him to put him at ease.

"Thank you" he said smiling back at her.

"Well come on otherwise we're gonna miss the train" she said grabbing his hand and beginning to run. Deku ran alongside her hand in hand laughing as the morning air blew through their hair as they ran. Neither of them though were ready for the events that would unfold later that night...
