Chapter 12: The duet

Deku and Uraraka walked to the stage hand in hand earning them a few curious looks from their fellow classmates. Some of the girls were whispering in each other's ears and then trying to hide their glee but failing miserably.

Just ignore them they have no idea that Deku is my boyfriend now. All of them except Yaoyorozu anyway who seems to be doing a good job at acting like she doesn't know anything.

She was right because Ashido whispered something in Yaoyorozu's ear and whatever she said made her pull a face of shock her mouth wide open but as soon as the girls weren't looking she winked at Uraraka reassuring her that their secret was safe.

I wonder what song she chose for us. Please don't be something embarrassing.

Deku stood to one side as they reached the steps to the stage before gesturing for Uraraka to go first.

"Ladies first" he said grinning a little bit.

"Why thank you aren't you a gentleman Deku" she joked. She walked up the steps and stood in front of the microphone just to the left of the stage Deku following behind her and taking the second microphone to her right. Both were wired and on a stand just like when they sang their solo's. They looked at each other before giving each other a smile and a small nod.

"Ok let's do this" Deku said into the microphone causing everyone to cheer and applaud.

"Ready when you are" Uraraka said to Present Mic who was eagerly waiting to press play. As the music began both Deku and Uraraka's hearts skipped a beat.

She picked this song? Yaoyorozu are you serious? Whatever it's too late you should've told her no when you had the chance but you were too busy looking into Deku's eyes. Just sing and whatever happens, happens.

The first line queued itself on the screen in front of them not that either of them needed it they knew the words this was a very well known song. It was Deku to sing first. He took a deep breath and began to sing.

Deku: "Now I've had the time of my lifeNo, I never felt like this beforeYes I swear it's the truthAnd I owe it all to you"

Uraraka: "'Cause I've had the time of my lifeAnd I owe it all to you"

Deku: "I've been waiting for so longNow I've finally found someone to stand by me"

Uraraka: "We saw the writing on the wallAnd we felt this magical fantasy"

Together: "Now with passion in our eyesThere's no way we could disguise it secretlySo we take each others hand'Cause we seem to understand the urgency"

Deku: "Just remember"

Uraraka: "You're the one thing"

Deku: "I can't get enough of"

Uraraka: "So I'll tell you something"

They turned to face each other and locked eyes as they sang knowing the next line beaming smiles on both of their faces.

Together: "This could be love Because I've had the time of my lifeNo, I never felt this way beforeYes I swear it's the truthAnd I owe it all to you"

They both turned their heads back to the audience of cheering students in front of them both still smiling enjoying every moment of this but a little redder in the face now.

Deku: "Hey baby"

Uraraka: "With my body and soulI want you more than you'll ever know"

Deku: "So we'll just let it goDon't be afraid to lose control, no"

Uraraka: "Yes, I know what's on your mind when you say'Stay with me tonight' (Deku: "stay with me")

Deku : "And rememberYou're the one thing"

Uraraka: "I can't get enough of"

Deku: "So I'll tell you something"

They turned to face each other again for the chorus for added affect.

Together : "This could be loveBecause I've had the time of my lifeNo, I never felt this way beforeYes I swear it's the truthAnd I owe it all to you'Cause I've had the time of my lifeAnd I've searched through every open doorTill I found the truthAnd I owe it all to you"

"Come on everybody get on the floor and dance!" Uraraka exclaimed into the microphone as the instrumental began. Both Uraraka and Deku had the same idea and met each other in the middle of the stage even though they were already within touching distance and began to dance together while they knew they had a few moments where they didn't have to sing. Their classmates were all doing the same right in front of them on the dancefloor dancing along to the music cheering and whooping for the two on stage putting on a show. Suddenly Uraraka had an idea she looked up at Deku.

"You thinking what I'm thinking?" She asked seeing that he seemed to have figured out what she had in mind already.

"Oh yeah" he replied.

"Ok then let's do it" she said before they both quickly grabbed their microphones out of their stands and stood face to face in the middle of the stage just before they had to sing again as the music slowed down. They locked eyes knowing what they were about to do.

Deku: "Now I've had the time of my lifeNo, I never felt this way before (Uraraka: "never felt this way")Yes I swear it's the truthAnd I owe it all to you"

As the drums kicked in and the music picked up for the climax of the song the two of them began going round in a circle together both looking into each others eyes not caring about anything else.

Together: "I've had the time of my lifeNo, I never felt this way beforeYes I swear it's the truthAnd I owe it all to you'Cause I've had the time of my life And I've searched through every open doorTill I found the truthAnd I owe it all to you"

The music died down as it did Uraraka and Deku couldn't help but laugh with glee as everyone whooped and applauded and whistled for the duo.

"That was amazing!" She screamed making sure she didn't say it into the microphone.

"I know right you were great by the way" he said.

"You weren't so bad yourself" Uraraka replied grinning at him.

"Hey are you two gonna kiss or what!?" Ashido suddenly screamed from the audience. Confused the two of them looked out to the audience. The room was silent and still with everybody staring at the two of them on the stage. That's when they both realised how close they were stood to each other. As they'd been walking around in circles the wires of their microphones had wrapped them up and tied them together pressing their bodies together leaving their faces inches away from each other.

"Well we did agree we were gonna do it" Uraraka said making sure the microphone didn't pick it up still.

"We did didn't we?" Deku replied blushing a little.

"Well come on we're waiting!" Ashido screamed again causing a few cheers and shouts of encouragement from the rest of the class. Uraraka raised the microphone to her mouth looking out to the crowd.

"What do you think Deku? Shall we give the people what they want?" She said into the microphone dragging this out for dramatic effect. The crowd cheered even louder at this some of them even chanting 'kiss' repeatedly.

"I'd hate to disappoint the people" Deku said into his microphone causing them all to cheer and applaud even louder. Deku and Uraraka dropped their microphones leaving them to dangle in the air since the wires were wrapped around their bodies. Deku tilted his head to the right and Uraraka did the same. They leaned in closing their eyes as they did and their lips intertwined for the first time. As they did the students of class 1A cheered the loudest they'd done all night and some of them even wolf whistling. Deku and Uraraka were kissing on stage in front of all their friends and it was pure bliss. As they kissed they wanted to touch each other but realised they were still wrapped up in wire so they both slowly began to spin back in the opposite direction they had been doing untangling them and freeing up their arms. The whole time their lips never disconnected they held this long, deep, passionate kiss neither of them wanting to separate at any time. Once their arms were completely free Uraraka threw hers around Deku's shoulders and he put his hands on her waist both of them gripping on tightly to each other and pulling the other deeper into the kiss. Their classmates were losing it at this point they couldn't believe their eyes the two of them were really going for it.

"Oh it's getting hot in here!" Ashido screamed.

"Tell me about it!" Kirishima replied neither of them able to contain their excitement.

"I wanna kiss a girl like that on her-" Mineta was cut off by Asui punching his stomach sending him flying into a nearby wall.

"Don't you dare finish that sentence you little pervert. What's wrong with that guy? Ribbit" she said scolding the strangely horny teenager. Deku and Uraraka were still holding that same kiss. Deku placed his right hand on Uraraka's cheek caressing it before pulling away knowing they needed to release before someone separated them. Their eyes fluttered open halfway as they gazed at each other with a longing look in their eyes to feel each others lips again. Uraraka pressed her face into Deku's hand a little feeling the warmth of it against her face and how soothing it felt. As she did she put her own hand on his cheek.

"I think I'm in love with you Deku" Uraraka said to him.

"Already? We only just started officially dating about twenty minutes ago" he teased.

"Shutup dummy. I don't care if it was twenty minutes ago. I love you" she said gazing into his wonderful eyes. They could no longer hear their classmates cheering. Deku gazed back into her eyes before giving her another kiss, a much shorter one this time before he spoke.

"I love you too"
