Chapter 6: A pleasant evening
00:04, 10 September 2019After how today started Uraraka couldn't believe how amazing the second half of it had been. She was on a date with Deku and she was loving every second of it. Sure he hadn't outright asked her out and Ashido set them up but she didn't mind that since he'd somewhat asked her to go on a date with him back at the pool. He convinced her to stay and enjoy the day with him date or not but they'd both agreed it could still be a date. They were on their way back to the dorm after they decided to just pick up some fast food on the way back and eat it when they made it back.
"Deku today's been great" Uraraka said smiling at him.
"Hey it's not over yet I thought we agreed we were gonna eat together back at the dorms" Deku replied.
"I know and we will but I just wanted to tell you that today really has been great. I really enjoy your company" she said wanting him to understand how much she liked being around him and how happy he'd made her today.
"Oh well it's no problem I just wanted you to have a fun day and I really enjoy your company too Uraraka" Deku said a little embarrassed. Their cheeks went red as they blushed a little as both of them looked down at the floor instead of at each other.
"Hey Uraraka" Deku said.
"Yes Deku?" She replied
"I was wondering if you'd like to do this again sometime?" Deku asked hoping for a yes.
"What go swimming?" Uraraka asked not quite understanding the question.
"Well maybe but no I meant go on another d-date together?" He said his nerves skyrocketing at asking her.
"ABSOLU-...*clears throat*...yeah sure why not although this date isn't over yet so it's not a definite yes just yet" Uraraka quickly stopped herself from seeming too eager.
"Oh I see... what would I have to do to get a definite yes?" Deku asked his eyes seemingly begging her for the answer.
"Don't worry so far so good" she smiled at him letting him know he'll be fine.
"That's good to know" he said relieved.
"Hey you wanna get food from here? I hear it's pretty good" Uraraka asked stopping outside the fast food place they were walking past.
"Yeah sure" Deku replied. They went inside and he placed his order and then noticed Uraraka scrambling around in her bag.
"Hey Uraraka what's wrong?" Deku asked concerned.
"I left my purse at home dammit. How could I be so stupid?" Uraraka scolded herself. She stood up and turned around to face Deku who was standing there holding out his receipt for his order. She looked at him confused for a second before realising that he wanted her to have it.
"Deku that's sweet but I can't accept this" Uraraka told him.
"You can and you will I'll just order myself another one" Deku ordered her slapping the receipt into Uraraka's hand.
"Deku I can't that's not fair on you" she said feeling guilty that he would have to spend more money for her.
"It's fine honestly" Deku told her.
"Are you absolutely sure?" She asked him.
"Of course I am I wouldn't be doing it if I wasn't besides this is a date so allow me to be a gentleman and treat you to your dinner" he said smiling at her.
"Ok if you're sure but I'm paying you back when we get back to the dorm" she insisted.
"No you're not you don't owe me anything" he said. Uraraka thought about arguing with him for a moment but decided that would be rude of her.
Just accept that he's being so sweet and treating you like a gentleman. If he wants to do it then you can find a way to pay him back that isn't money.
"Thank you Deku" she said.
"You're welcome" he replied. Suddenly both of them had the same thought
Why is my hand so warm?
They looked down and their eyes widened in shock. They had been holding hands this whole time ever since Deku put the receipt in her hand.
"Uraraka I'm so sorry" Deku said attempting to pull his hand back but Uraraka stopped him tightening her grip.
"...is it....is it ok if we...." She couldn't finish her sentence and she couldn't look at him either she was way too embarrassed. She felt Deku's fingers wrap back around her hand thankful that he got the message.
"Come on let's go place my order again" Deku said. Uraraka still couldn't look at him she just stared at the floor allowing Deku to guide her to the counter. While Deku was asking for the same order again she stared at their hands intertwined. She couldn't believe it. This was amazing. His hand was so warm. She loosened her grip a little to remove the receipt that was the only thing between their hands and then she tightened it again. When she did Deku's face went a shade of red she'd never seen before.
He's so cute.
For some reason removing that receipt made holding hands feel way better than it did before. The warmth made her happy. His hands looked so rough and worn compared to hers but for some reason it felt like it was meant to be there holding her hand. At this point they were waiting for their order numbers to be called out. When Uraraka's was called she almost missed it had it not been for Deku's gentle nudge snapping her out of her trance. She let go of Deku's hand and instantly the warmth had gone and the feeling of happiness was replaced with disappointment. Thanking the worker she grabbed her food and walked back over to Deku. As she did Deku's number was called out. He grabbed his food and they headed out the doors back to the dorm.
"Good thing we both decided we were going to get the same thing huh?" Deku said chuckling a little.
"Yeah it was" Uraraka replied half heartedly. She desperately wanted to hold his hand again but their hands were full they were carrying a bag of food in one hand and their drinks in the other. Deku observed her for a moment before he got an idea.
"Hey Uraraka stop a second" he told her
"Hm? Why?" She questioned.
"Trust me I've got an idea I think you'll like" Deku said.
"Ok?" Uraraka said unsure what he was getting at. Deku knelt down putting his bag of food on the floor and took his rucksack off of his shoulders. He unzipped it and shoved his food into the bag zipping it back up again.
"Won't your wet clothes and towel get your food wet?" Uraraka asked.
"No it'll be fine it should've dried enough by now so it'll just be a little damp and the bag will keep the food from getting wet. Anyway your turn put yours in your bag too" Deku said.
"Why?" Uraraka said still confused why they were doing this.
"Just do it trust me" Deku said smiling to reassure her.
"Ok" she replied. She did as Deku instructed and picked up her drink since they couldn't put their drinks in their bag then the food would definitely get wet. She turned to look at him waiting to see what his big idea was.
"That's better" he said grabbing her hand again. Uraraka let out a small yelp as he did it surprised but pleased by his actions. They carried on walking hand in hand back to the dorm.
"Why did you-" she began
"You looked upset from the moment you let go of my hand back in the fast food place so I figured we could free one of our hands each and hold hands the rest of the way home. I thought you might like that" he said.
"Thanks Deku. You really are so sweet" she told him making him blush clearly not used to being complimented like that.
"No p-problem" Deku replied.
"At this rate you're definitely getting a second date" Uraraka said making him smile.
"Wow I must be better at this than I thought" he said grinning proud of himself.
"Hey don't get cocky now. Girls like confidence Deku but we hate it when a guy is over confident" she warned.
"Right yeah sorry" Deku said nervous now he was going to mess this up. Uraraka laughed at how nervous he was getting.
"It's fine I'm messing with you dummy" she smiled at him to let him know he was doing great. They made it back to the dorm agreeing they should let go of each other's hands before they got there so nobody saw them or got any bright ideas. They walked through the door and they were going to sit in the kitchen but Ashido, Kirishima, Kaminari and Sero were sat in there apparently waiting for them.
"So you two...how was your date?" Ashido asked.
"Never thought you'd have it in you Midoriya" Kaminari teased. Uraraka saw the look on Deku's face realising he had no idea what to do or say.
It's fine they have no idea that we even agreed on it being a date so we can deny it.
"Who said anything about a date? You guys weren't there when we got there so we figured you'd either gone to a different pool or you'd already been swimming and decided to head back since we left after you guys. Right Deku" she said staring at him hoping he'd get the hint.
"Yeah we just assumed you'd already had your fun and went home" Deku said understanding what Uraraka was doing. Their four classmates studied them for a moment before saying anything. Kirishima spoke first.
"So you're telling me you two had a day out all by yourselves and didn't at any point think it was a date?" He said.
"Yeah didn't one of you even say something like 'well I guess this is kind of like a date' or something like that?" Sero chimed in.
"No we didn't" the two replied in unison.
"Well your loss" Kaminari said.
"Guess your plan didn't work after all hey Ashi-" Kirishima was cut off by Ashido clasping her hand over his mouth.
"What plan?" Uraraka asked knowing she had the upper hand in the conversation now.
"N-nothing!" Ashido said.
"Ok then. Well I guess we're gonna call it a night you guys so we'll see you tomorrow" Uraraka said wanting to leave while she knew she was on top and in control of the conversation.
"Yeah goodnight guys" Deku followed up also wanting to make a swift exit.
"Goodnight you two" the four of them replied in unison. Uraraka and Deku headed up the stairs towards the rooms.
"Hey Uraraka" Deku whispered.
"Yeah?" She whispered back.
"Are we still going to eat together?" He asked.
"Yeah of course I just didn't want to stay down there they would've kept asking questions until one of us slipped up and gave it away" she replied.
"I know same here but where are we gonna eat?" Deku questioned knowing where the only place left to eat was and somewhat dreading the answer.
"In one of our rooms I guess. Shall we go in yours since it's the closest?" Uraraka said.
"Yeah ok" Deku agreed reluctantly. They arrived outside his door and checked to see nobody was watching before entering his room and locking the door behind them. Uraraka looked around at the collection of All Might merchandise in his room.
"You're such a fanboy" she teased.
"I know I know I've heard it all before" Deku said not wanting to hear the usual jokes.
"You wanna watch a movie while we eat?" She asked.
"Yeah sure I'll put one on. There's a fold out table in chairs in my closet if you want to set them up while I put a movie on" Deku said pointing to his closet.
"Yeah no problem" Uraraka replied. However she was greatly mistaken it was about to become a huge problem. She had no clue how the mechanism to unfold the table and chairs worked and she ended up breaking the table and as it snapped in two one of the pieces landed on the chairs breaking them too. Now they had no table to put their food on or anywhere to sit other than the bed.
Oh god no what am I going to do I can't be in Deku's bed with him that's too much
"Um Deku?" Uraraka said turning around to see that Deku had already seen the damage done and come to the same realisation as her.
"Sorry I didn't know what I was doing so I tried forcing it and this happened" she said hoping he wouldn't be mad.
"It's fine. I guess we'll just have to sit on the....the bed" he gulped. The two of them sat down next to each other and began to eat as the movie started. The tension was almost unbearable. Neither of them spoke a word they just sat and stared at the TV. Uraraka glanced down at Deku's hand instantly regretting it.
Idiot now I really want to hold his hand again but I can't we're sat on his bed that's way too intimate he'll take it the wrong way oh god what am I doing
Her hand had moved on it's own and had placed itself over Deku's wrapping her fingers around his. She looked up and was met with Deku gazing back at her.
Oh god not this again I really want to kiss him
She quickly looked back at the TV and Deku followed suit both of them extremely embarrassed. However Deku returned her hold on his hand and squeezed it a little letting her know he was happy for it to be there.
"Today was fun" Deku said breaking the silence.
"Yeah it was. Shame it's almost over" she replied.
"So would you go on another date with me sometime?" Deku asked hopefully. The movie now finished as the credits rolled. It was over. It was time she went back to her room. She smiled at him.
"I think you've earned yourself a second date Deku" she said.
"That's great. I'll have to think about what we could do" he said smiling happy he'd got a second date secured.
"I'm sure you'll think of something you always do" she smiled at him excited at the thought of doing this all over again. She grabbed her things and headed towards the door. Deku opened it slightly to peek out and look around making sure the coast was clear but it was pretty late so everyone was in bed.
"Coast is clear. I'll see you tomorrow and I'll let you know when I think of a good date idea" Deku said.
"Sounds good. See you tomorrow Deku" she said walking out the door but she stopped before she ran off to her room. She turned around to face him again.
"Deku...I really enjoyed today. Thank you...for everything" she said before planting a kiss on his cheek. He put his hand to his cheek where she'd kissed him. It looked like she'd broken him. She started giggling uncontrollably and began heading back to her room.
"Goodnight Deku" she said before she disappeared out of sight. He didn't say it back despite his best efforts. Uraraka really had broken him. He slapped himself managing to pull himself back from whatever trance he was in and closed his door before someone saw him there. He fell face first onto his bed.
I got kissed by a girl!
