Chapter 4

In the following months leading up to Lucy's due date. Things got much worse for her. It seemed that the babies had not only began to feed on her magical power but her physical energy as well. She got paler and could barely get up from bed to go to the bathroom without feeling exhausted.

She couldn't leave the house at all now since her spirits want her to be resting. Her doctor had to go to the house whenever she had an appointment.

The only thing that would bring her joy apart from her unborn babies and spirits was the weekly letter she would get from Levy. She looked forward to reading and responding to them. She grew more homesick as time went on but knew it was the best thing for her babies to stay here.

Along with the abnormal pregnancy symtoms she got the regular ones too. Like the swollen feet and breasts, back pain, moodiness and much more. Luckily for her the morning sickness stopped a few months prior but she was still very sensitive to smells. Probably a side effect of carrying a Dragon Slayers baby.

With nothing to do all day she would find herself wondering how Natsu was doing. If he was happy, if he missed her or if he even remembers her at all. She wondered how his relationship with Lisanna was progressing.

From the letters she got from Levy she heard about everyone in the guild except for those two. She had even heard about new members whom she had never met. She knew that Levy was purposely not mentioning them to protect her from more heartache.

To Lucy it seemed as though their relationship was doing so well that Levy felt that she had to hide that from her. Lucy grew sadder whenever she thought of the happy relationship they might be having. Her heart broke each time she pictured them together.

She hated to admit it but she was still in love with the boy, she doesn't know how she was gonna get over him or if she ever will. 

"Princess, Levy's letter came" Virgo said opening the door. Lucy sat up on the bed and reached for the letter. She wasted no time in opening it after thanking Virgo.

From the letter she found out that Erza had given birth a week ago and Juvia 2 days ago. Erza had a girl and named them Rosemary and  Juvia had a girl and boy. She named them Ur and Storm.

Lucy felt so happy for them. She quickly wrote back expressing her happiness for her two friends.

Natsu had been taking mission after mission in the past few months, he'd barely spend a few hours back at the guild before going on another mission again. His girlfriend, Lisanna, would only ever catch a glimse of him and if she managed to talk to him he'd just give her a kiss on the cheek telling her he'd be back later.

While Natsu was away he decided not to dwell on all the strange things that he was expierencing since it only confused him more. He tried not to think of the dreams he kept having but he couldn't get the blonde out of his mind.

He tried everything to keep himself distracted but his mind always went back her. It felt as though she were calling out to him. His dreams weren't all sexual now, he dreamt of his children that he would have with Lucy.

First it went from just mentioning that they have kids to seeing the blonde beauty pregnant. A few times he would even dream about two blonde and salmon haired children running around.

If Natsu was being honest he would rather have the sexual dreams, he had learned how to deal with his frustration but he couldn't deal with the longing he felt after dreaming about having children with Lucy.

He put all his energy into training and missions. He was alone all the time since Happy seemed to still be upset with him and his team wasn't happy with him either. Lisanna was the only person not upset with him and he most certainly wouldn't want to go on a mission with her.

Another week passed and Lucy was bound to give birth any day now. Just yesterday she received a letter from Levy telling her that she gave birth to a boy and girl, their names were Gale and Emmilia.

Lucy sighed looking around the bedroom, a sight she was tired of. She couldn't wait to give birth, then she would finally meet her babies and get out of this bed. Lucy felt lonely, she would imagine what it would be like if Natsu hadn't broken up with her.

The two of them probably would have been cuddled up in bed, thinking of baby names. She knew that Natsu would have been very overprotective, he probably wouldn't let her do anything on her own.

A tear slid down her cheek the more she imagined how things could have turned out. She wiped her tear, "He's happy and I'm gonna be happy too. I'll be fine as long as I have my babies." she told herself in whisper, rubbing her stomach.

She didn't want to think of her ex any longer and turned on the tv lacrima that was placed on the wall in front of the bed. She put on some cartoons and soon fell asleep.

Loke cracked open the bedroom door and peaked inside. He sighed in relief when he saw his master sleeping peacefully. He entered the room and turned off the tv lacrima. He looked at his master, feeling bad he couldn't help more.

With each passing day his worry increased. Lucy's health had gotten worse leaving her bed ridden and her mental health wasn't the best either. She'd gotten sadder, he would always see her crying in her room.

He and all the other spirits tried their best to make her feel better but it never lasted for long. It broke his heart to see her this way, he felt helpless because he couldn't make her feel better. He blamed Natsu.

'That son of a bitch caused this.' He thought and made a vow to beat Natsu up if he ever saw him again.

He sighed leaving the room, closing the door behind him.

Lucy was in bed watching tv when she felt a pain strike her, she gripped her stomach groaning in pain. She had been having contractions since yesterday, she didn't pay them much attention since she knew they weren't actual contractions but this one felt more painful.

Her suspisions were confirmed when she felt a gush between her legs and the bed wet under her.

"Loke!" She shouted out, within a second the spirit appeared from the spirit world.

"The baby's coming" She said in a rush, quickly lifting the covers and standing up. She was hit with another contraction, it was more painful than the last one. She almost fell but Loke steadied her and placed her on the bed.

"Stay here while I get the doctor!" He said rushing out the door. Virgo appeared and began getting things that would be needed for when the doctor arrived. Once she did that she got Lucy situated.

"Don't we need to go to the hospital?" Lucy asked as Virgo propped her up on pillows.

"No princess. You will be giving birth here." Virgo replied just as Loke came running inside the room with the doctor.

10 minutes later Lucy was ready to push. Virgo and Loke were at her sides holding her hands when she started, she grunted as she pushed. Beads of sweat formed on her head when she pushed a second time.

"I see the head! Just one more push"

Lucy shook her head, panicking. "I can't do this. I can't do this on my own" She said tears streaming down her face.

"You aren't alone Lucy. We are here for you." Aquarius said.

The blonde saw all her zodiac spirits surrounding her bed.

"You can do this princess." Capricorn said.

Lucy nodded and took a deep breath before giving a final push, screaming as she did so. She heard a cry, her first baby was born. "It's a boy!" The doctor exclaimed holding up the baby.

Aquarius made her way to the doctor, "I'll be cutting the cord." she said picking up the scissors and cutting the umbilicle cord.

"I see the second one!" The doctor shouted handing the baby to Aquarius.

Lucy pushed once more and sighed in relief when she heard another cry, one louder than the previous.

"It's a girl!" The doctor announced before Capricorn cut the cord.

Virgo and Aquarius cleaned the babies before handing placing them in Lucy's arms. Lucy smiled tiredly as she looked down at them. "Luke and Nashi Dragneel" She said naming them. 'So beautiful' She thought staring at all their features.

They both had full heads of hair. Luke's hair was blonde with a salmon streak in it. Nashi's hair was salmon with a blonde streak in it. She hadn't seen their eyes yet but knew that they would be beautiful just like the rest of them.

She made a note of the date.  March 14.

Loke looked at his master and fellow spirits and knew he had to capture this moment. He got Lucy's lacrima and told the doctor to take a picture of all of them. Lucy sat up in the middle of the bed holding her babies while her spirits were on each side of her.

Lucy passed out promptly after the picture was taken. The doctor assured the spirits that she was okay and just drained of magic power and energy.

All the spirits aside from Aquarius, Loke and Virgo left. Virgo cleaned everything up and changed Lucy into something much more comfortable before going to the kitchen to make something for Lucy to eat later. Loke escorted the doctor out and Aquarius watched over her 'grandkids' and Lucy.

Natsu woke up panting. "What heck was that?" He questioned out loud.

He just saw Lucy surrounded by her spirits, it looked like she was giving birth or something. He felt unsettled and guilty.

"It was just a dream." He said.

He settled back into bed but couldn't shake the feeling that he missed something. His heart felt torn. He felt like something was calling out to him.

He cleared his thoughts and fell back asleep.

It's been two weeks since Lucy had given birth and she seemed happier. She was exhausted and sleep deprived but when she looked at her babies she couldn't help but feel a burst of happiness. They had only been here two weeks but they were  already the light of her life.

Lucy woke up when she heard one of the babies cry. She got up and went to the nursery. She picked up Nashi and sat in the rocking, she took her boob out and began to feed her.

"You've got your father's appititite." She laughed as Nashi suckled on the milk hungrily.

Once Nashi was finished she burped her and put her back to sleep. She stared down at her babies, watching them sleep.

It's only been two weeks but she could tell that Nashi was alot like her father so far and Luke was quiet and reserved taking after his mother.

She placed a kiss on both their foreheads before going back to her room to sleep.

5 Months later

Taking care of the twins was taking a toll on Lucy. On average she got 2 hours of sleep. She thought that once the twins began sleeping through the night things would be fine but then they started teething.

She'd forgotten that the doctor said they would develop faster than normal babies. They had even began crawling, she now spends her days running behind them and her nights soothing them.

She sat in the living room rocking Luke in her arms, he was crankier than Nashi. His gums weren't aching but he still wasn't in the greatest mood. He wouldn't leave Lucy's arms unless he was sleeping and he refused to do so. While his sister was the opposite, only cranky when her gums ached and couldn't care less about Lucy.

Nashi only came to Lucy when she was hungry or in pain. She was currently sleeping in her playpen after drinking bottles of milk.

Lucy's eyes were threatening to close.

Luke was suddenly taken from her arms, she looked up and saw Aquarius scowling at her. "Go take a nap or something. I'll watch the brats."

Lucy was about to refuse but with one look from Aquarius she got up and went to her room. She fell asleep quickly.

7 Months later

The twins were a year old now. They had started and walking and had even said their first words. They can now say more than a few words but not full sentences.

Lucy had published her first novel a week ago under the name Star Queen. She used an alias because she didn't want Fairy tail tracing it back to her. Her book was doing well already.

Lucy had even started training a few weeks ago. She was currently working on hand to hand combat with Loke.

All in all things were going great for Lucy. Well mostly, side effects of her pregnancy still lingered. She was still pale and she couldn't stomach food. She could only eat a certain amount, if she ate more than that she would throw up. The doctor said that she was as healthy as can be and reassured her that there wasn't anything wrong with her.

Meanwhile with Natsu

Natsu had become an S-class mage a month ago and the moment he stepped on the top floor he picked a year long mission. He and Lisanna had a fight about him never being there, well not a fight more like she was screaming at him while he packed. He left anyway not feeling bad for doing so.

Ever since he had that dream of Lucy giving birth she was all he thought about. He felt no love for her but she was on his mind constantly, whatever he did he thought about her. He'd think about her when he woke up, ate, fought, bathed and when he was about to fall asleep.

Lisanna hadn't crossed his mind at all. He would sometimes forget he even had a girlfriend. He barely felt any love for her anymore.

2 years later

"Nashi stop lighting your brother on fire!" Lucy shouted as she entered the backyard. The twins had discovered their powers a few months ago and since then they haven't  stopped trying to burn each other alive.

Of course they weren't affected by the flames so them getting hurt wasn't something Lucy was worried about.

She sat on a chair watching her 3 year olds play 'fire tag'. A game they have become quite fond of. She watched as Nashi screamed in frustration when she was engulfed in Luke's golden flames before lighting him with her flames as well.

While Luke's flames were golden resembling celestial magic Nashi's were orange with Golden specs in them. Their magic was beautiful.

They could also speak without any issues, Lucy had even begun to teach them how to read and write. Turns out her children loved books. She would buy them new ones every chance she got.

Lucy was much stronger now both physically and magically. She had even learnt a lot more celestial spells.

Lucy heard the doorbell ring, "I'm coming!" she shouted getting up and going inside to the front door.

"Lu-chan!!/Lucy!!" Two bluenettes exclaimed throwing themselves at their friend.

Lucy recognized them instantly and wrapped her arms around them. "Oh my gosh!! What are you guys doing here?!".

"We came to see you of course." Levy said once they stopped hugging.

"We missed you so much!" Juvia added.

The two brought in their suitcases and Lucy closed the door behind them.

"Now, where are my niece and nephew?" Levy asked looking around.

Lucy led them out back where the twins were playing with Virgo and Loke in the pool.

Virgo noticed them and got out of the pool drying herself off, "Princess I see you have guests, I'll prepare something to eat." she said going into the house.

Loke and the twins had finally noticed the three women.

Juvia and Levy squealed as they laid their eyes on the twins, "They're even cuter than in the pictures!" Juvia exclaimed.

"Hey guys good to see you." Loke greeted getting out of the pool with the babies, the girls paid him no mind and continued to gush over the twins.

"Yeah yeah good to see you too now get away." Levy said taking Luke from his arms while Juvia grabbed a hold of Nashi.

"Mama, who are they?" Luke asked as Levy kissed his cheeks, squealing about how cute he was. He was kinda creeped out at that, as was Nashi.

"They are your aunts Levy and Juvia, I've told you about them remember?"  Lucy replied. A look of realization came across both of their faces.

"Hi aunties!" They said in unison, making the women squeal louder about their cuteness.

Eventually they put the twins down, allowing them to get back to playing with Loke. The three women sat on the back patio watching them drinking tea Virgo had prepared.

"You're raising them so well." Levy commented, Juvia nodded in agreement.

"They're so well mannered already." The water mage added. Lucy flushed at the sudden compliments.

"It means a lot that you guys think that, sometimes I think that I'm not doing a good enough job."

The two blue haired heads women snapped towards the blonde.

"Are you kidding me?! They seem so well behaved and well mannered, I can barely get my kids to greet people!" Juvia exclaimed.

Levy nodded in agreement, "Yeah, Gale keeps trying to eat people's jewelry and Emmelia refuses to speak to anyone. The only kids I've seen so well behaved are Erza's." she added.

Lucy smiled at her friends.

"Okay so how long are you guys staying and how are you here? I thought you couldn't leave Mongolia?"

"Well although Gajeel and Gray have been very overprotective since the pregnancy we managed to get them to agree to letting us have a girl's weekend because we are just soooooo stressed and need a break." Levy laughed.

"I wish we could stay longer than 2 days though but I don't think the boys could handle the kids for so long." Juvia sighed as she ate a cookie.

"You should have brought the kids with you. I would have loved to meet them." Lucy said with a smile.

Levy and Juvia smiled back at her, "We'll be sure to next time." they said.

The girls spent their weekend shopping, catching up and talking about their children. Before they knew it, it was time to go back home. The twins had gotten attached to their aunties and cried as they left.

Levy and Juvia promised to come back as soon as possible with their children which they did a few weeks later after making sure their children wouldn't say anything about these trips.

Luke and Nashi became good friends with Levy and Juvia's children. Their fathers have no idea of this new friendship.
