Chapter 6. Nicknames

It's official that we are now dating. Chonyun and Xingqiu are finally starting to see Hu Tao differently. But honestly I just wished everyone would see her differently. 

It was four days before the sports event. The class were still planning where the mascot would be throughout the games, who would be at the back and the front.

"Yanfei why don't you go in front?" Xingqiu suggested.

"What why me?" I asked, looking up from my notes.

"Because you can lead better."Chongyun said simply as he folded his hands and rested his head on them, leaning back on his chair.

"But Hu Tao's good at leading too!" I protested. There were chatters between us three as Hu Tao sat there quietly, looking from one to the other, trying to follow what we were saying.

"Why Hu Tao? You're way better at leading than her to be honest... no offence Hu Tao...(Hu Tao nodded)" Chongyun said.

"She's the director of a funeral parlour, of course she can lead better than me!" I said.

"Yan Yan can't you just lead? I kind of feel more comfortable at the back anyway!"

"'Yan Yan?" I looked at her with surprised. Realising what she just said Hu Tao looked away.

"S-sorry!"she stammered,"I-I didn't mean t-to call you th-that... but is it o-o-okay? I think it's cute..."

"No no it's fine,"I smiled,"you suddenly called me - something else, that's all."

"Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..." Hu Tao and I could hear Chongyun and Xingqiu from across the table. We turned to them with a warning look.

"Shut it, will you?" I snapped at them.

The two boys fell silent. We continued to discuss as we left the boys stone cold just sitting there.

"So since you're calling me Yan Yan, maybe I should think of a nickname to call you too! Hmm, let's see... Hu Tao, Hu Tao... umm... Tao Hu?"

"Where'd you get that from?" Hu Tao asked looking a little dissatisfied.

"Dunno, I'm just guessing... Hu Hu?"

"No."

"Hao?"

"Maybe..."

"Hu Tao."

"But that's just my name-"

"Tao Tao!"

"Much better. It's so simple to guess." Hu Tao sighed with a giggle.

"Actually I already thought of that, but I had others in mind so I thought I could try those out first." I pointed out with a smile. Hu Tao giggled again.

"You're really cute when you giggle you know that, right?" I smiled. 

"And you know you're even cuter when you say something ridiculous, right?" Hu Tao said with another giggle. I went red, as usual. Her giggle is just too cute to ignore. 

"So are we planning the mascot's positions or are we figuring nicknames for you two?" Xingqiu interrupted. The two have finally broken free from their statue position. 

"Hey we should try that too!" Chongyun said as he stuck his head from over Xingqiu's left shoulder,"How about... Qiu Qiu!"

"Aww, that's so cute!" I teased. Chongyun beamed with pride.

"Okay fine, Yun Yun." Xingqiu laughed.

"No..." Hu Tao and I said together shaking our heads.

"I don't care as long as my boyfriend has a nickname." Xingqiu pressed, Chongyun smiled at him. We looked at each other and shrugged. Hu Tao said,"That's alright I guess."
