Coming Down

Abel:

Turning I felt Maya's side was empty. I grabbed my phone from the nightstand and saw I had messages but they were cleared from my notifications. This only meant that Maya must have gone through my phone. I got up and went downstairs to find her. She was at her dinning room table eating.

"Did you go through my phone?"

"No, it kept vibrating and I thought it was your alarm going off but it was your girlfriend texting you"

"That's still going through my shit, you don't see me going through your phone"

"Even if you did I wouldn't give a fuck, I have nothing to hide Abel, I never did"

"I never hid anything from you either Simaya"

"You're right, you didn't hide anything from me. I just assumed you were single because you've been here the past two nights with me right?"

"What do you want from me?"

She got up and threw her bowel in the sink before coming up to my face.

"Tell me, is she the same girl you made the song about?"

Staying quiet I hesitated n answering.

"Yeah, we've been together off and on for 3 years"

"Do you love her Abel?"

"Maya why are you doing this?"

"Answer me, do you?"

"Yeah, I do love her"

When I told her that, I could see her heart break through her eyes. Her eyes watered and before I could see her drop a tear she went up to her bedroom. I left her place feeling fucked up for doing this to her. I knew she loved me and I basically crushed her heart before leaving to finish my tour.

~3 weeks Later~

Simaya:

I kept tossing and turning, my back was in pain. The doctor told me things like this would happen but I couldn't take the pain anymore, I needed to see my doctor. I called Amina so she can take me because I hated going alone.

"You think the baby is already coming??"

"I don't think so, well I don't know if it's suppose to feel like this"

"Don't you have a couple of more weeks though My?"

"Yeah, that's why I wanted to come. This is all new to me"

We got to the hospital and I told the nurse what was going on, she wheeled me in a wheelchair to the labor & delivery floor.

I was laying on the exam table when Amina asked if she should text Abel. I knew how upset he was when I kept things from him so I agreed.

"I've been ignoring him for weeks, he's probably still touring"

"So you want me to tell him?"

"Go ahead Amina"

While she texted Abel the doctor came in with a nurse ready to examine me.

"Hello my dear, I see we are almost there"

"Yeah and I don't know if she can wait"

"Well let's see what's going on"

He checked my cervix, that shit hurt but it was necessary, then moved on to a ultrasound.

"You're having contractions, did you just feel that?"

"Yeah, it hurts like hell"

"You are contracting but barely 2cm, you have two choices. We can keep you overnight and give you medicine to try and stop the contractions as long as we can, or you can go into pre term labor"

"Isn't it early for her to be born?"

"It's a couple of weeks early, but her survival rate is great. We just prefer babies to be born full term"

"I want her to stay in until she's full term"

"Great, we will get a room setup and start an IV"

Abel:

Waking up in a hotel I knew last night had to be crazy. There was a blonde girl next to me, I didn't even know her name so I just left before she woke up. I was at home when I saw a text from Maya saying she was in the hospital. Valerie was awake and saw how quick I got ready to leave to be with Maya.

"Where are you going Abel?"

"I gotta be somewhere Val"

"Why can't you ever tell me the truth? I know you're going to see another bitch, was it the same girl that sent you those naked pics?"

"No Valerie"

She came up and started pushing me.

"I fucking hate you Abel, you always cheat on me!"

"If you know I cheat on you why are you here? If you want me to be honest there is another girl"

"I knew it! And don't think you're the only one that was fucking around because I was too Abel"

"Get the fuck out Valerie, you're not about that life and don't you think I know you're lying?"

I slammed the door and headed to the hospital. I knew Valerie loves me to much to cheat on me, that's why she stayed no matter what I did.

I was on the maternity floor where the nurse directed me and knocked on Maya's door. I walked in and saw Maya sleeping and her friend Amina sitting next to her on her phone.

"Hey, how is she?"

"She's better, the doctor gave her medicine to stop the pain from the contractions"

"So she's not having the baby?"

"It's looking like the meds are working so we are hoping not"

"That's good"

"Abel?"

Maya must of heard us talking and woke up.

"I'll be down at the cafeteria"

Amina left us to be alone. I walked up and kissed her forehead and sat next to her. The room was filled with fluttering noises and a thumping noise.

"What's that noise?"

"It's a heart monitor for the baby, it's this belt thingy around my stomach. It's her moving and her beating heart"

"I never heard anything like that before. How are you feeling baby"

"I'm better, the pain went away so if the contractions stops I can go home"

She smiled but I knew she was scared.

"I'm staying with you until they release you"

Maya wasn't released until later that night, the doctor put her on bed rest for two weeks. I was done touring and decided to stay with her until the baby was born. The only person I told that I was going to be a father was Cash, he said he would take care of everyone else and everything while I was with her.

We got to her place and I tried making her comfortable as possible. She's been quiet with me since we left the hospital, I knew the whole Valerie situation was still bothering her.

"Are you hungry?"

"No I'm fine, thanks"

She kept her answers short while going through her phone. I sat next to her on the sofa thinking how I came to help her out and she was being bitchy towards me. I need a blunt for this. I told Maya I had to get my charger from my car so I had a little time to smoke. I texted Valerie apologizing for earlier, she was just pushing me to far. And of course she forgave me. After I was done I went back up to Maya's and saw her cooking something, she's definitely mad at me.

"I thought you weren't hungry?"

"Well now I am"

"Go sit down and let me finish this for you"

"I got it Abel, it's a damn grilled cheese"

"Why the fuck are you mad at me now? You were fine at the hospital"

"I was being cordial, like I am now. You're just use to me being loving towards you"

She was right, every time that I saw her she would jump in my arms and did anything I wanted. The girl in front of me right now was treating me like we were brother or sister or some shit. I didn't like it at all.

"I don't need you to be loving towards me but this acting like a bitch shit ain't cool with me"

"So I'm a bitch because I don't show you affection like your use to?

"I didn't mean it like that, I know your mad still and I'm sorry. Things between us went to far"

"Can you answer me something Abel?"

I knew this was going to be a bad night.

Simaya:

Abel stood there waiting for my question.

"If you had a girlfriend what was the point of you going out of your way to talk and be with me?"

"Maya can we talk about this another time?"

"No, tell me Abel. Why go out of your way to fuck with a stripper. Tell me already!"

He stood there grabbing the back of his neck.

"Alright, I had a bet with my nigga Lamar that I could fuck with you. I didn't intend for shit to get so deep between us"

"So I was just a bet to see if you could fuck me? I hope it was worth winning those bragging rights"

"Maya it's not even like that, once I started to get to know you I gave him the money and said forget it. I didn't go through with it"

"I knew something was going on, you would come be with me late at night and leave me before I would wake up. You never took me out anywhere and I never gave you grief for that, all I wanted was your time and affection. I was a side chick that nobody knew of, and you had me wrapped around your finger"

"You're not a side chick"

"Who knows about me then Abel? And who knows about your girlfriend Valerie?"

He stood there quiet. Nobody knew he was messing with me, and his friends knew about his girlfriend...but me.

I went upstairs and locked myself in my bedroom. Now I understood why he was so adamant on us being so private, he hid the fact he was sleeping with a girl like me. I felt dumb to even think he cared for me.

I couldn't sleep that night so I waited until I thought Abel would be sleeping to work the baby's nursery.

I walked in to the freshly painted lavender wall room, there was boxes of furniture I had to still put together. I began by going through the baby clothes.

"How come you never showed me this room?"

Abel walked in while I was sitting on the floor separating baby clothes.

"You never stay long enough for me to show you"

"It's really girly"

He had a smile as he looked around.

"Well she is a girl..."

I laughed.

"Smart ass. I want to help you with everything but you gotta involve me in this."

"I know I haven't been good at doing that, I just didn't want to bother you"

"Stop thinking that you bother me, I want to help with everything I was even thinking if you want you can move in with me, I have two extra rooms for you and the baby"

"With everything I can't afford to move now, I just paid off this place and my grandmothers bills I just can't Abel"

"I'm taking care of everything Maya, I just thought it would be easier for you to have me near. You can keep this place I just want you to think about it"

"I don't know Abel"

"I just want to take care of you and our daughter"

"That sounded so weird"

He sounded so natural saying 'our daughter'.

"What?"

"Nothing. Thing is, what about your girlfriend and I like my privacy"

"I'm taking care of that. Privacy? Are you hiding someone from me?"

"There you go again Abel, if you want me to consider this you better stop assuming shit. You know how I feel, why would I be having a man on the side?"

"I'm just saying, if you do this you can just take care of the baby. You don't have to work, no more going back to that club"

"I wasn't planning on going back, I finished school. Graduation is in a couple of months and after the baby I'll get a job. It sounds like you had this all planned out"

"I know I messed up shit for you and I just want to take care of you. Nothing in return, let me do this for you"

"I'll think about it"

I didn't know what to think, he wanted to be under the same roof to be near his future daughter.

Doing this would make me sacrifice everything I felt for him for our child's sake.
