Be my (fake) girlfriend
18:20, 29 July 2022"Be my fake girlfriend,"
"W-wha!?"
It was shocking, Yachi did not know she'd get asked out by her crush to fake date him. Should she be happy or sad? Her cheeks flushed. The male in front of him looked serious.
"W-why me, Kei-kun?" Yachi asked after much hesitation. Tsukishima sighed, looking tired as ever.
"There's just too many girls trying to confess to me, it's annoying," His eyes darkened, Yachi remembered the many failed attempts of girls trying to confess to him, not like she wanted to stalk him, she just happens to be there whenever he gets confessed to.
She remembers the flooded bench and practically chocolates and candies every single day from fangirls and Tsukishima looking tired and drained. It was their second college year and the reporters just so happened to put him in the front page of the sports magazine last week. Not only did he get annoying bickering from Hinata and his seniors, (How the heck did Hinata even know!? He was in Brazil for Goodness sakes!) he also had to deal with girls that started popping up in his school life.
Yachi bit her lip, thinking about it. This might be the only time she'll be close to, or as close to Tsukishima and being his 'girlfriend'. Will she really waste this opportunity? Hell no.
"If... If you're okay with me, then yeah," She muttered, not daring to look at him. She did glance at him though, he looked happy. Her heart warmed, as long as he's happy, she's happy.
"Uhm, so what do couples usually do?" She asked, other than crushes, she has never really gotten a boyfriend for herself. Besides, she'd usually bury down her feelings for her crushes until they disappear, not like that helped her with the lingering feelings for the tall male though. Tsukishima frowned, thinking.
"Holding hands? And maybe eating together, I'm not so sure myself," Yachi was glad that Tsukishima was on the same boat as her. They both were new to this dating- er, fake dating. Yachi took a mental note that this was all fake, not real.
"Ah- maybe come to practice tomorrow! We need to show them that we are together," Tsukishima suggested, his eyes lighting up. Yachi laughed and nodded.
It was a weird feeling, discussing how to look like a couple, but Yachi certainly wasn't complaining, in fact, she was enjoying it.
"U-uhm sure! Your practice is late afternoon, right? I'll make you a light bento meal then!" Yachi added, taking out her phone to take a note down on what to buy later. Tsukishima grinned.
"Thank you, Hitoka," He patted her head. It had become a habit since high school. She chuckled and nodded.
And that settled it. Yachi officially- unofficially became his (fake) girlfriend.
-
"Hey- hey, look! who's that?" A girl muttered from one of the seats. They glanced at Yachi who held a warm Bento box covered with a cute green cloth to match the team jersey. She was looking around and finally found Tsukishima, who was already running to her.
"Kei!" She exclaimed happily. Tsukishima, who returned her energy, gave a big hug.
"Hitoka, you came early," He said, patting her head. Yachi only smiled and handed him the bento.
"Here, I hope it isn't too heavy of a meal. It has a balanced meal and extra energy food!" She explained. Tsukishima felt the warm bento in his hands. He leaned close to her, making it look like a peck on the cheek.
"Thank you, Hitoka, I think they are getting the idea of us," Tsukishima had been glancing at the small group of girls on the seats above. He was particularly happy to see some running or crying away.
"No way! He's got a girlfriend!?" some shouted. The two blondes flinched, they couldn't help but turn to the crowd. Practically everyone was looking at them at this point.
"Ohhh! Hitoka-chan!" Kanji shouted, being the sunshine he is. He was still as tall as ever. He quickly turned the attention away from the blondes and to him.
"Wahh, Tsuki, you're so lucky! I want a bento too! I liked the cooking Yachi made that summer during high school!" He commented, indicating that they have been friends for more than a few years. Yachi laughed.
"It wasn't that good, besides my junior was a better cook than me," She said, enjoying the males presence. Tsukishima, being quiet, opened the Bento box. It had all of his favorite side dishes and a few healthy snacks. What caught his eye the most was the small strawberry shortcake on the side.
His heart fluttered a little. Even after years, Yachi remembered everyone's food preferences. During high school, she made sure the meal plans were to everyone's taste without being too unhealthy. His heart warmed up.
"Thank you," He muttered softly, not noticing the two beside him stopped talking to see his slightly flushed face.
Kanji whined. "Ugh- I can't believe it! You sly fox! I need to get a girlfriend to beat you! See you soon, Hitoka-chan!" With that, Kanji left to whine with his other teammates, something about Tsukishima being lovey dovey with Yachi.
"U-Uhm... What else do I have to do, Kei-kun?" Yachi whispered in his ear. Tsukishima only smiled and pulled her along to the side. They sat down and Tsukishima finally started eating his food.
"I-is it good? I know it's all an act but I made sure that the food is delicious!" Yachi said, feeling a bit nervous. She wasn't confident at all with cooking, even if many have already complimented her, she still thought that she needed to do better.
"Mhm, it's the best, Kageyama and Hinata would be so jealous," Tsukishima commented. Giving a small smile. Yachi flushed and thanked him for being nice.
"Ah! I haven't asked if you have eaten?" He glanced at the girl, Yachi had already eaten before this.
"Don't worry, I ate, just enjoy your meal, Kei-kun," She gave a thumbs up. They relaxed and eased into a conversation. Talking about anything and everything, it came natural to them to look the part of a couple. They were confident that soon the girls would quickly disperse away.
But before that, Yachi would savor every moment with him before she let's go.
-
"Did you hear? Tsukishima and his old high school manager got together,"
"Seriously!? Ugh, I'm jealous. If I knew he would be famous during high school, I'd have signed up for the manager position!"
"But, they had many other managers before and after her, he must like her a lot,"
"Dammit! All these volleyball players mingled with each other! I'm so jealous!"
A week in and the word spread. Tsukishima and Yachi had to explain to pretty much their old team and everyone who knew them that it was just a mutual fake relationship. It settled down after that, of course the teasing was at an all time high, but Tsukishima would endure it.
Yachi and Tsukishima were walking home after his practice. Tsukishima was sighing and whining about some girls still being there. Yachi laughed.
"It's okay, it's still only a week. After a month, this whole thing will probably blow over and-...." She stopped, realizing just how much time she had left. Tsukishima noticed the quiet girl, he glanced at her.
"Hitoka?" He nudged her, Yachi got back to her senses and gave a guilty laugh.
"S-sorry, my mind wandered off," Tsukishima chuckled and patted her head.
"Ah, that reminds me," Yachi looked at the male opening his bag and taking out his spare jersey. He handed it to her.
"My tournament is this Saturday, wanna sit on the bench like the old days?" Tsukishima asked, smirking. Yachi's heart fluttered. After high school, she focused on her career, so she didn't have time to be a manager in her college volleyball team. She missed the adrenaline, being so near to the court.
She looked at Tsukishima, touched.
"Can I really?" She asked, her eyes sparkling. Tsukishima chuckled and nodded.
"I can even give you my hat and jacket,"
"No! This much is enough! Thank you, Kei!"
"So you'll come, right?"
"Yes!"
And it was settled. Yachi will watch his tournament this Saturday.
-
Yachi was excited. She wore Tsukishima's Jersey, just in case she brought an extra shirt. She wore shorts and made sure to tie her hair with a green frog hairband. She looked in the mirror, feeling proud.
Her phone rang, Tsukishima was asking where she was. They decided to meet near the place of the tournament and not at the place itself in fear of the fangirls. She quickly got her bag and left her house, she took a cab and finally got off.
She saw the tall male angrily dismissing a girl. Yachi, feeling like a knight in shining armor, called out to him.
"Kei!" She said, running to him with big arms. Tsukishima's eyes lit up. He pushed away the girl and ran to him, giving a big hug. He twirled her, feeling proud with their acting.
"Hitoka! Let's go!" Tsukishima said in a hurry. The girl didn't chase them, thankfully.
After they got some distance, Yachi gave a laugh.
"The look on her face! It was so funny but I feel so bad!" Yachi exclaimed, Tsukishima joined her, agreeing.
They were walking to the place now, more green and the other teams color around the place. Their hearts beated faster as they got in, hearing the cheers and loud music.
Yachi has seen many tournaments, but this one was special. She gets to go on the court again and see it so close after so long. Plus, she gets to be there as Tsukishima's 'girlfriend'
Her heart sank as she was reminded that her label was actually a fake girlfriend. She tried not to think too much about it.
Soon she was sitting on the Bench with the manager's she faintly remembered them. They got along well, complimenting Yachi during her high school years.
The match started. She felt shivers down her spine, the sound of the ball like it was breaking, the rumbling from the ground, the shouts and spikes, the tosses and the fast paced motion of everyone giving their all. Yachi missed it all.
She could almost see her old team on the court, playing like old times.
With the final blow of the whistle. The Sendai Frog's won. Tsukishima won!
"Kei~! You did it!" Yachi got up and cheered loudly. Tsukishima, noticing her. He smiled brightly. He ran to her, arms open. Soon, she felt his hug. He was hot and sweaty, his breathing was also heavy, but she couldn't be more happy for him. He pulled her up so that she could wrap her legs on his waist. She laughed, congratulating him.
She hugged him a little bit tighter. She took all of her mental energy to remember this hug. To remember how her hands held him, how his hands ran along her back. She'll remember how warm he feels and how gigantic he was compared to her. She'll remember how he feels around her arm's because after this, she was never going to be able to hug him the same way again.
Once she did, she took all her courage to match her happy self again.
"Good job, you did so well!" She exclaimed, running her hands on his sweaty hair, making it neater. It didn't matter if he was sweating or not, she was just so proud of her boyfriend- fake... fake boyfriend.
"I did it!" Tsukishima shouted, pulling her and spinning her around before placing her back down. He still had plenty of adrenaline left. He noticed his sweat. "S-sorry, Hitoka, I was sweaty and hugged you-"
He muttered, quickly running to get a towel and getting back to her, wiping away the sweat off her. Yachi chuckled and took the towel, wiping him.
"You're sweating more," She pointed out, wiping his face and neck. Tsukishima stared at her before smiling again, agreeing with her.
"Right..."
"Dammit! I should've brought my girlfriend!" One of his teammates shouted, angrily biting his towel in frustration. They were bickering but happy to have won.
"Hurry and come here, Tsuki! The formalities are starting!" One of his seniors shouted. Tsukishima muttered angrily and nodded.
"I'll be back," He said, feeling a little bummed. Yachi only chuckled and nodded, pushing him to his teammates.
"Take all the time you need,"
She looked at Tsukishima's back as he walked away from her. It was soon. The end was soon. And it hurts to think about it.
-
There was a small dinner party held for the teammates, coaches and some of their close friends that got invited. Of course, Yachi was invited without having to ask.
As soon as Tsukishima and the rest of the team finished showering and changing, she was dragged by Tsukishima to the restaurant and got dragged along with the already drinking team.
It was fun. To how everyone shared old stories of the past to teasing the single ones on the team and then to another round of drinks. Yachi fully enjoyed herself today. Before Yachi could even get a sip of alcohol, Tsukishima asked if they should go.
After drunk goodbyes from the team and the coaches, Yachi and Tsukishima finally got out.
"That was fun!" Yachi said, grinning. Tsukishima hummed, agreeing.
"Your apartment is on the same street as mine, right?" Tsukishima asked. Yachi nodded. "I'll send you home then,"
"You don't have to! I'll be fine, besides, you must be tired," Yachi tried to refuse, but Tsukishima insisted. In the end, she agreed.
They took the bus and then got off on their shared street. Both comfortably taking in the silence. It was calming until Yachi remembered that she had to break it off with him.
A month. A whole month with Tsukishima Kei. The best month Yachi had, to be honest. But if she continues this, she knows she'll never ever go back to being the same Yachi who ignores her feelings.
Her feelings for him wanted to burst every single moment for him. She couldn't risk it any more. Besides, the fangirls are mostly gone now.
"Hey... Any girls bothering you today?" Yachi started, her voice trembling a little. Tsukishima tilted his head and shrugged.
"I guess none bothered me much, except for that girl before my game," Tsukishima said, smiling. "We did a pretty good job, huh?" He patted her head, looking happy.
Yachi gave a forced smile, nodding.
"Then... We should fake break up now, right?"
.
.
.
"W-what?" Tsukishima stammered, of guard by what the woman had said. He looked at the girl who was beside him.
"I- I mean-... the fangirls are gone now! A-and I'm sure you wouldn't like having to be labeled unavailable," Yachi explained, trying her best to not look at him directly. Tsukishima's heart felt a little hurt, scratch that. It hurt. He looked at their intertwined hands.
To be fair, The whole fake girlfriend thing was just a cover up. In truth, he wanted to... he wanted Yachi to himself. He squeezed her hand tightly. He wanted so badly to say no. But he truly doesn't know what she feels about this. He looked at the girl who looked tiny in his jersey shirt.
"If... I-...." Words seemed to get stuck in his throat. The woman was slowly letting go of his hands.
"K-kei?" Yachi asked, he hadn't utter a single word yet. She looked at his conflicted expression.
"C-can I test something out, Yachi-san?" It was rare to call her formally. She gave a nod.
"You can push me away if you don't like it- y-you can even slap me if you want... just, close your eyes, okay?" He asked, cheeks turning red. Yachi, confused, still closed her eyes. She trusted Tsukishima.
Tsukishima looked at the girl, completely available to grab. He will either regret or be satisfied with this.
He gently cupped her cheeks, leaning close.
Long eye lashes, cute round nose, rosy cheeks- beautiful lips. This was Yachi Hitoka. This was Tsukishima's one and only crush.
He ran his thumb over her lips. His heart fastened its pace as he closed the distance. Kissing her.
What was it again? Cherry blossoms? A firework explosion? Maybe the drop of a waterfall or the sound of thunder. Tsukishima felt so good. She felt good. Lips that could forever be kissed, he'd like to imagine that this was it for him. After this, she was going to slap him and push him away and hate him for the rest of his and her life.
But she kissed back.
Oh God. she kissed back.
-
When did they get to his house? It was a blur after that kiss. He grabbed her arm and turned right back around to his apartment, it was nearer after all.
Once they were in the lift up, his hands couldn't keep to himself. He pulled her for a messy kiss.
They fumbled to get out of the lift and he tugged her quickly to his front door. Kissing her again.
Hands rummaging for the key's, then pulling each other in the apartment. How they dropped everything at the entrance and stumbled their way to the living room as they made out. He plopped her down the sofa, making sure she wouldn't try to get away from him again.
Tsukishima couldn't tell you just how much he wanted this.
Yachi gasped, Tsukishima finally letting her rest. He was on top of her, legs on both her sides. He quickly took off his black top he changed into after he showered just now. He quickly got back to her lips. Biting her for entrance.
She gladly gave in. She tasted like the champagne from the dinner. Strawberry desserts couldn't compare to her. Tsukishima pulled her into a more comfortable position. Her head rested on a throw pillow, his left leg in between her legs, stopping her from closing in on him.
"H-How long? Did you like me?" She muttered between kisses. He smiled.
"Second year high school, dummy," He said, looking at her. Yachi's eyes widened. They stared at each other for a solid minute until tears began to form in Yachi's eyes. Tsukishima panicked. He wiped her tears away.
"Was I too rough? I- I'm sorry, I got carried away-"
"No, idiot! You liked me for that long?"
"Yeah..."
"I-.. I started liking you during our last year in high school, I didn't know..." Yachi confessed. Tsukishima's heart thumped. It meant that she liked him the way he liked her. His heart wanted to explode. He deflated onto her, hugging her tightly.
"Really?"
"Really,"
He could feel his heart jumping out of his chest. Yachi could probably feel it against her own. They stared at each other for a while, neither breaking contact nor starting a conversation. They smiled.
"Can you be my real girlfriend, Yachi Hitoka?" Tsukishima asked. Yachi's face turned red, but her smile never left. She chuckled.
"Gladly,"
"W-we can continue right? I-if that's alright..."
She chuckled, her hands pulled his head close. She gave a hum.
That was all Tsukishima needed for confirmation.
