Denser than a neutron star

I'm still alive!

Hello, my readers! If there are still any left :) We truly have gone far with this book. I am still so thankful that I see readers reading these fics I made for around 1 year? 2 years? I wanted to say that I feel really all giddy inside with how many people read this. I thought this was just a one month think where I'd lose interest. But here I am, still going strong for Tsukiyachi!

*You can skip this hehe*

Honestly, I make these fics out of impulse, I like writing stories and I've been focusing on my own story during the past 3 years. I made this fanfiction dump because I love Tsukiyachi, but also to get away from my own story. I feel bad that this book became a sort of dumping ground of my idea's. I love writing these characters, but rereading my old stories made me realize how I still lack creativity. Around the time I wrote 'lucky charm' I was burning out with stories. I even took breaks in-between the stories I made. I will still do so, I have little to no motivation to write daily, even trying to finish my studies. Sorry for stress dumping here. Let's go on with the fanfic!

It occurred to me that Yachi would probably be dense to any advances from Tsukishima and Tsukishima being nonchalant at first would start getting desperate to the point where even saying he liked her still wouldn't make her realize XD It's just a cute way to think of how their relationship could develop.

Tsukishima was pretty certain of his feelings and his own body. He knew pretty much what he wanted to do with his life and would do anything to get that. He also knew that he's got a little crush on their volleyball manager, Yachi Hitoka.

It wasn't like he was a robot, he had a type since young and it hadn't really changed at all, even now. It was around where Yamaguchi started becoming his best friend.

"What kinda girls do you like, Tsuki?" The 13 year old boy asked, Tsukishima thought about it. He thought long and hard, thinking of the things he liked and didn't like. It was about time he started getting curious or at least interested.

"Short girls?" He said after a while. He frowned and thought of the many girls in their class, most of them were average height, but they were still short compared to Tsukishima though.

"Hmm- maybe... cute girls?" He was truly racking his brain trying to find his type. He pictured a cute girl with a cute hairstyle, maybe she would be tiny, at least 15 cm shorter than him, she'd have the brightest smile ever.

13 year old Tsukishima blushed at the thought. Imagining how cute it would be how his arms would wrap her whole.

The first time Tsukishima saw her was after class. This cute tiny girl carried such a big stack of papers, her eyes could barely see anything from the paper. She had bumped into him by accident.

"I-I'm sorry!" Her voice squeaked. Tsukishima flushed. The first thing he thought was 'cute'. He cleared his throat and moved to the side.

"Do you need help?" He asked her, without glancing at him, she shook her head and gave a smile.

"This is for practice! Thank you anyways!" Before he could say anything else, she was gone. Like the spring wind, her scent left his nose and as she turned the corner, she was gone.

Tsukishima wondered if she could see her around school.

He could barely contain his heart when the same girl was in front of the gym doors, trying out being their manager.

"She's cute, Tsuki~, she totally looks like your type," Yamaguchi intended to tease his friend. But once he saw Tsukishima's flushed face, he knew the dude fell. Once she left, Yamaguchi couldn't stop himself.

"You... like her!" Yamaguchi said, looking ecstatic. Tsukishima was going to retaliate, but no words ever came out, only a punch. "Ow!"

"Shut it,"

-

Tsukishima knows that bottling up everything would lead to worse situations. The first time Tsukishima saw Yachi, it was a physical attraction. He could hardly call those feelings. But as time passed by, interactions with Yachi and just being in her presence, Tsukishima truly liked her as a person. When did he start liking, liking her?

"T-Tsuki! A-are you okay!? Hold on, let me grab a towel!" Yachi was panicking, Tsukishima wondered why she was panicking so much, it was normal for accidents to happen during practice. A nosebleed after getting spiked from a newly pumped volleyball does hurt but nothing too serious.

But... Why did it feel good getting her fullest attention? She came back with a towel, wiping the dripped blood and then placing it on his nose. He got up, holding the towel now.

"You good? My bad," Kageyama asked, he softened from being with Hinata every day of the week. Tsukishima just nodded, grinning an evil smirk.

"Compared to that Orange, your spikes aren't that bad," Of course he couldn't leave the court without picking a fight. But it was normal for everyone. Kageyama only clicked his tongue but did nothing more. He knows from personal experience how a bitch gets hit full force with a volleyball.

"Don't die during practice, Tsukishima, that'd be embarrassing~" Suga teased from the other side of the court. Practice resumed as normal.

"Are you in pain? I hope you didn't break your nose, I'll get a cool pack to place on your neck, it should stop the bleeding," Yachi said after practically dragging him to the bench. Other than a small nod to their coach, they were left alone. Tsukishima's heart started pacing.

"M-my nose is fine," He muttered. He looked at the girl who opened the cool pack and took one out. She got up and got behind him. He flinched feeling the cool pack being placed. The cold didn't make him flinch, it was her hot fingers that brushed against his neck. He couldn't help but blush. Only after she settled down beside him, he muttered a thank you.

Yachi grinned, giving a small laugh.

"I'm glad you're fine, Tsukishima-kun,"

Tsukishima's heart confirmed his feelings that day.

'Date'

It had been 4 months since he had confirmed his feelings. His emotions were pretty much overflowing at this point, the girl was too cute for him to handle.

"Yachi-san... are you free this saturday?" Tsukishima took the first step. Everyone in his team who heard him quickly hid and stalked them. Yachi looked at the boy, tilting her head in curiosity.

"Hm? Why'd you ask, Tsukishima-kun?" Yachi asked. She was too dense for her own good. Still, Tsukishima wasn't going to give up.

"Want to accompany me to a bookstore? Maybe even a cafe before that?" He started feeling a bit more confidence once her eyes twinkled at the word 'bookstore'. She grinned and nodded.

"Sure! I'm glad to be with the group on saturdays!" She cheered. Tsukishima and everyone else who were hiding and eavesdropping on Tsukishima's movements froze. He took a few seconds to recover.

"I-It's just the two of us, Yachi-san," He cleared up the misunderstanding. Yachi, now looking serious nodded.

"I see, I didn't know you liked romance books too, Tsukishima-kun. I know how scary it is to buy them on your own. I used to be like that too," Tsukishima was too stunned. He wondered just how the misunderstanding got worse. He could do nothing but give a small muttered yes. He couldn't say anything after that, she looked too happy to 'help' him out.

After Yachi left, he heard the laughs and snickers from his teammates. He was irritated and embarrassed. He wanted to dig a hole and bury himself.

At least he got a 'date'

Saturday came around, he had texted Yachi that he would pick her up from her bus stop and walk to the station together. He came 20 minutes earlier just in case she was already there.

Yachi being Yachi, she came on time. Tsukishima's heart fluttered as she got off the bus. She wore a cute blouse with shorts and a thin jacket on her hand. She was smiling brightly, but she could smile even brighter as her eyes met him.

Tsukishima swore he saw an Angel.

The 'date' itself wasn't bad. Well, if only both parties agreed it was a date. To Yachi, it was a hang out with a friend. Tsukishima wasn't really in a rush though, he wanted to take time and get to know Yachi anyways, so getting closer to her like this would be more natural than saying it upfront.

Their day ended pretty great. They read many books in the bookstores and then had a little embarrassing moment at the cafe. The staff asked for a picture of them, they had this cute event where they'd take pictures of couples and hang them around the wall. Yachi was going to protest, but Tsukishima cut her off, pulling her close for the picture.

"S-sorry that you had to sit through that, Tsukishima-kun," She muttered, giving a guilty pout. Tsukishima could only laugh and shook his head.

"It's alright, besides... It's our first picture together," He explained, holding up the 2 copies of the photo they took. She flushed and nodded, her smile returning.

At night, Tsukishima could do nothing but stare at the picture. His hands wrapped around her shoulder, her cute flushed cheek as she leaned onto his chest. He had such a dorky grin in the photo... but it was their first ever photo.

His heart thumped a little faster.

He said he would take it slow, but God does he want her bad.

'Flirting'

If asking her out on a date didn't work, he had to go back to the basics. Flirting. It wasn't too sexual or cringy like most of the movies made out flirting to be. He wanted to compliment her, make her feel nice and maybe even tease her a bit.

He was going to succeed this time. He was confident! With a determined look, he would finally get her to realize!

"You look really cute today, Yachi-san,"

.

.

"Did you change your perfume? You smell different,"

.

.

"Eyy, no way, you look too cute to not have a boyfriend,"

.

.

He was so sure he made it obvious. He made sure! Instead of her getting embarrassed or flushed, it was him! He looked at the girl who was so painfully oblivious to his attempts. He wanted to bash his head in with a volleyball!

How can such a smart girl be this dense!?

.

.

"Y-Yachi-san, your eyes look dazzling," Tsukishima had no other choice. If movie flirting can actually work, he will take his chances.

Yachi looked at him before laughing.

"Thank you, Tsukishima-kun. I am excited for today's practice, it is near our friendly match with the neighboring school afterall!" Tsukishima's heart wanted to break into pieces. Did he fail? Did he really fail at flirting!? He was so sure that it would work, was he just that bad or was Yachi just that dense?

He couldn't choose which answer was more plausible. any more.

He had to take it up a notch.

"I- I got you flowers, here," It was after practice, he gave her red tulips, indicating a love confession. She smiled brightly.

"How did you know I wanted flower bookmarks for my books!? Did Hinata tell you?"

He failed.

.

.

"I- I brought you chocolates!" He said, embarrassed. He held out a cute pink heart-shaped box filled with heart shaped chocolate. No way she doesn't get his hint.

"Ah! I was craving for chocolate, thank you so much, Tsukishima-kun, you always know what I want," Yachi cheered, grinning from ear to ear as she ripped open the box and ate the chocolate, ripping the confession card inside along with it.

He failed, again.

.

.

"Y-Yachi-san!"

"Yachi-san! I got you..."

"W-wait! Yachi-san!"

It had been like this for a week. The entire team already knew what was going on. They felt pity for the boy.

"She... she knows right?" Daichi asked, squinting his eyes to see Tsukishima with another gift and her densely receiving it. Shimizu sighed sadly, shaking her head.

"She thinks Tsukishima is a caring person," Everyone sighed after that. While it is funny seeing Tsukishima getting rejected all day, it was truly starting to look desperate at this point.

"Ah, hang in there, Tsuki," Suga and Asahi muttered, they will pray for their juniors today.

'Confession'

Tsukishima just might have done everything his brain could possibly think of. There was no other choice. He had to tell her now. There was nothing else he could do to make her take a hint!

His monthly allowance was also tiring.

He was going to do it. He will confess to the dense girl and he'll just hope for the best. Like the many attempts he had done, he was confident- kinda.

He looked at the picture with Yachi. He kept it safe in his room. He was so confident, but right now, he was so unsure. So many attempts and Yachi still couldn't get his hint. Was he doing something wrong? Or maybe she already took the hint but didn't like him so she just acted dense.

Tsukishima didn't know which one hurt more. He was truly terrified this time. Subtle signs of liking someone is so different than actually saying it! He never experienced such a strong feeling ever.

His mind wondered. What if Yachi rejected him?

"Ugh..." He couldn't stop the tears dropping. He usually isn't such a crybaby. But just thinking of Yachi rejecting him and ignoring him hurt. But bottling up his feelings also hurt.

This time... this time he'll tell her his feelings. Even if she rejects him. Even if he's so scared of losing her in a single moment. He'll do it.

"Yachi-san..." He muttered. It was during a break that he plucked up the courage to ask her. Yachi smiled and turned to him, her attention all on him. He cleared his throat. "...Today... I need to tell you something after practice... is that alright?"

"In private?" She asked, tilting her head. He nodded. Once again, she looked serious. "I'll make sure no one listens to us, Tsukishima-kun!" He gave a small smile and nod before seeing Yachi make her way back to Shimizu.

'This is it' he thought to himself. There was no backing down now.

It felt like time moved faster. 3 hours of practice quickly passed by like a minute. Soon he was in front of Yachi, fiddling with the ends of his uniform.

Yachi was in front of him. The distant glow from the Gym hit her pretty face. She was still so cute under the moonlight. She had a pretty smile and bright eyes that looked like they stole the stars. Yachi was so- so cute.

"Tsukishima-kun? What did you want to tell me?" She talked first. Tsukishima took a breath and then two. He closed his eyes shut, like not seeing her would make his heart race any slower.

"I-... I like you, Yachi-san," He said. He really said it. He opened his eyes to see the girl happy.

"I like you too!"

Tsukishima finally did it! And Yachi said yes!

.

.

Tsukishima couldn't believe it. He really did it. His heart wanted to explode in glitter and sunshine, which is rare, he hated those things. But he just couldn't describe it any better than that. His heart was bouncing about in his chest.

He really is with Yachi-san. Will he be able to plan their future now? No- that was too fast, he should take it slow and get to know her better... then they can hug and hold hands all they want!

It had been a week, Tsukishima was in heaven. He'd eat with Yachi, go to practice with Yachi and then escort Yachi to the bus stop before going home himself. Yachi opened up to him more, talking about her likes and dislikes. She'd even initiate the talks now.

Well... It was going well.

"Tsukishima-kun? Oh, he's my bestest friend!" Yachi cheered, happily branding him as 'best friend'. He'll probably hear the never ending nagging from Yamaguchi if he ever found out, but that didn't matter.

Tsukishima was truly and utterly embarrassed.

A whole week.

A whole week of thinking they were together. A whole week of him being the dumbest person alive. Can he even recover from that?

"T-Tsuki?" Yachi asked, looking worried. When did they start staring at him? Tsuki touched his cheeks. He felt the warm tears. Like he could be more embarrassed than ever.

"S-Sorry... I have to go," He couldn't take his emotions. They were completely in scrambles. Where did he go wrong? Where!?

So all those times Yachi talked to him and ate him was because she thought they were close friends now... It hurt that all he could ever be to her was a 'Friend'

Why did he even get all giddy and happy when she's around him? He feels so stupid for misunderstanding everything. He hated feeling so weak because of his feelings. He hated just how much the girl affected him. And most of all, he hated himself for making up everything.

He hated himself for thinking so stupidly.

Still, he held their photo tightly from months ago like it would disappear if he didn't.

.

.

Yachi was not a person who could take a hint even if it was right in front of her face. Seeing Tsukishima crying and running away, it hurt her to the core. She didn't want to make him cry, she wondered what she did wrong, if she did anything wrong.

It didn't help that Tsukishima was nowhere to be found in the Gym.

"I-is Tsukishima here?" She asked her seniors. They look at the girl in pity.

"He was here, but he said he needed a break," Suga explained. Everyone awkwardly shuffled back to practice, hoping Mama Suga could help the dense girl.

"Is he alright!? I- I wanted to say sorry if I d-did anything wrong... he... he looked really sad," Yachi asked, concerned and worried. Suga sighed and nodded.

"He pretty much told me everything," Suga muttered, remembering the tall male crying in a river and then acting like he didn't care and then crying again. But he won't mention that to Yachi, that would truly crush Tsukishima's soul away.

"P-Please... Please tell me!" Yachi asked after much hesitation. She bowed low to her senior. Suga panicked and pulled her back up.

"I-it's not my place to tell you what Tsukishima feels, I think you'd have to ask him directly," Suga said, giving a small apology to the girl. Yachi fiddled with her fingertips. She pouted.

"B-but isn't he sad because of me?"

"Yes, but this won't get resolved if you both don't talk and work it out, no? He's pretty hurt about this, you know, the whole liking thing?"

Yachi's eyes twinkled, understanding what he meant. Suga gave an encouraging smile before he told Yachi where Tsukishima currently hid.

.

.

"Tsukishima," Was he going crazy? Maybe he needed therapy after this. Tsukishima wondered if he could even recover from everything.

"Tsukishima-kun!" His shoulder was pushed up, now face to face with Yachi. Even now, his heart still raced. He looked away, blushing evident on his cheeks. She was panting, probably from running all the way here. They were at the back of the Gym, nearer to the forest, behind a big bush.

"I finally found you, we need to talk," Yachi said, sitting down beside him, giving a small smile.

Tsukishima wondered what this meant. Did he have to confess again? Did he have to explain everything? Will he finally get rejected? Many questions ran in his head.

"Firstly, I'm sorry, Tsukishima-kun," Yachi muttered. She was looking down on the grass below. Tsukishima's eyes widened.

"W-what!? You don't have to be sorry! I-"

"No! Listen!"

He shut his mouth. She took a short breath, looking determined.

"Y-you see, I don't really know much about liking people and people liking me back... I- I just assume that when they say like... it meant as friends," Yachi's cheeks began to turn red. She struggled to sort out her words whilst he stared at her with such an intense gaze.

"Uhm a-and when you invited me to the bookstore, it felt like I was truly getting to know you! Then you started complimenting me and giving me gifts... I... I felt so special and giddy inside- I didn't want to ruin it just because I was overthinking things... I'm sorry if it hurt you in the process, Tsukishima-kun-"

Tsukishima really did like cute girls. How tiny they felt around his arms, how soft and squishy they were. He especially loves this girl named Yachi Hitoka. No girl could be cuter than her.

"...I-idiot," He was muffled from her tiny shoulder, tears streaming down. It felt like a balloon filled with water exploded. His heart felt so stuffy inside his chest. His palms were sweaty and stomach was flipping.

"I like like you, Yachi-san, please get the hint," Tsukishima said after a few minutes of silence. The girl flinched, but her grip on him tightened. His hands were trembling.

"R-really?" She asked.

"Yes, Like as in Boyfriend and Girlfriend like," He confirmed. "As in I want to hug you and hold you and kiss you, Yachi-san," Tsukishima would confirm it again and again until he was so sure that she understood.

Their hearts pounded at the same rhythm.

"R-right.. Then l-let's be boyfriend and girlfriend,"

"For real this time?"

"For real this time,"

This time, Tsukishima didn't need to be scared. Because Yachi truly knows how he feels and he knows how she feels.

Tsukishima had finally, really done it.
