Zeref was watching the sunrise at Shisui's shrine.

He didn't get much sleep, no matter who he was in the past, in this life, he's haunted by nightmares.

Mostly one of Shisui calling him a murderer for killing him. He knows Shisui asked him too, but it doesn't take away the fact he still did it.

It was currently 5 am.

Zeref saw Sasuke heading to his test about half an hour ago.

He still had time to kill, but he couldn't move.

He just sat there, legs dangling off the edge of his favorite, yet hated cliff. Staring at the ball of orange rose over the horizon.

No, he wasn't talking about Naruto.

Zeref did consider himself lucky though, the training ground they are going to meet up at, is the one at the bottom of the cliff near the river.

A light breeze blew through his hair. 

He could almost hear his Nee-san.

"Come on Imouto SMILE!"

He remembered that day so well, the day he was angry at the village for what they said to Naruto when he was 5.

Zeref dragged Naruto away from the crowd and escorted him home. It was late a Zeref had no doubt the Shisui would be hunting for him soon.

"Stay safe tonight ok?" Zeref asked.

Naruto gave a nod and a quick hug accompanied by a short 'Thank you' since Zeref gave him some Ramen.

Zeref headed home with a scowl locked on his face.

When he got home, Shisui was about to lecture him until he saw the look on his face.

It took Shisui about 2 seconds to change his mind into then spending everything he could to make his Imouto smile.

He cracked dad jokes.

"Ok, ok here is another one.. a man walks into a Bar... ouch, hahaha!"

Nothing.

The next day he took Zeref out to annoy Itachi and Sasuke.

Still Nothing.

"Come on Imouto SMILE!" He shouted.

Zeref saw the distressed look on his brother's face a pulled a small smile for him.

"That's better. Remember, there will always be ups and downs in the path we call life, but the most important thing is to make sure you stand back up every time it knocks you down."

He remembered it like it was yesterday.

When Zeref looked at the time he saw it was around half 7.

He jumped off the cliff and let himself free fall for a while, before flipping over and digging two kunai into the cliffside to slow his fall.

When he came to a complete stop he was basically on the ground so he pulled out his kunai landed in his feet and went on his way.

He hopped across the river and sat down in the training field meditating.

It wasn't long before Mika showed up.

"OIIII!! Hi Zeref!!!" She shouted she was clearly a morning person.

Zeref grunted in response.

Katsu was next.

"Hey, morning guys," he said. He looked slightly tired like he forced himself awake.

Finally, Neisho arrived he looked the worst.

"*yawn* hey guys le*yawn*ts get this over with *sigh* how troublesome," the man said.

All three students sat in silence.

"Ok, all of you hand over one thing that's important, but you don't use to fight with," he said.

Katsu handed him his Headband, Mika gave him a bracelet she had on Zeref hesitated on what to give him.

"Hurry up we're burning daylight," Neisho said.

Zeref gripped his scarf and necklace tightly, he needed to give one over but there was no way he could.

With great force, Zeref handed Neisho his scarf, and he felt empty without it.

Neisho immediately noticed the change in the boy. His eyes looked more dead, he looked like the world had ended and he had watched it crash and burn.

"*sigh* how troublesome, you ok kid?" Neisho asked Zeref. He gained no response.

"Zeref you alright there?" Katsu asked.

Again no answer.

"Hn" was the forced noise that left his mouth, he tightly gripped the necklace that was tucked under his shirt, no way in hell he would let that go as well, and he was getting that scarf back one way or another.

"Ok, you guys have until 12 to not only find me but capture me as well, if you don't I guess these items are mine to keep. You'll also be sent back to the academy." Neisho explained.

Mika and Katsu looked confused and frustrated.

Zeref, when he heard about Neisho keeping his scarf, he gained a murderous glint in his eyes.

"Alright, the timer has started, Go!" He shouted.

They all disappeared Into hiding spots.

Mika in a Bush.

Katsu behind a boulder.

Zeref in a tree.

Neisho observed their hiding spots and was impressed that they all hid so well, not enough to escape a Jounin, but well enough to keep a Chunin on their toes.

Immediately Kunai flew at him.

Neisho hit them away while yawning, and looked at a Bush.

'Mika' he thought.

Honestly, Neisho was worried they might not pass his test.

Neisho wanted to see how they would react if their previous items were on the line and if they would help each other get them back.

So far he was most cautious of Zeref, not because he was an Uchiha, but because he looked like a piece of him died when he handed over the scarf.

Neisho knew how to handle these Gennin, he was a Nara after all, if he couldn't come up with a way to deal with these kids then he should be ashamed of himself.

The plan was simple to attack their weaknesses.

Mika: Ninjutsu

Katsu:Genjutsu

Zeref:Teamwork

It was easy to do.

First made two Shadowclones.

One went after Mika, one after Katsu and he went after Zeref.

When he found Mika, he immediately shot out some wind Style Jutsu, he gave her no chance to defend.

Mika managed to dodge a few, she even ran up close to engage with Taijutsu and almost touched her bracelet which sat around his right wrist, but Neisho pulled his arm back, punched her in the stomach and threw her at a tree.

Mika was weakened and tired from the pain, and from the Jutsu, she managed a substitution Jutsu and ran to find the boys, she knew she needed help.

The clone went to go join the real Neisho who was taking on Zeref.

Katsu was a bit different.

Katsu was planning on asking the other two for help but realized he had no idea where they were.

The boy heard a crack and instantly unsheathed his sword. He held out in front of him with a steady grip and glanced all around him.

He knew he had to get that headband back, it was the only way to prove to that person that he could protect his Mother.

"K-katsu..... h-help"

Katsu turned around and saw Mika on the ground bloodied and badly hurt, weapons were sticking out of her if he rushed to the hospital no she would make it.

"Shit... Mika, you ok?" He ran over to her and started to clean her wounds.

"She will die"

Katsu looked at where he heard the voice from and saw a pair of red eyes staring back at him.

"Zeref what are you talking about helping me," he said.

Zeref gave a smirk one that sent shivers down Katsu's spine.

"No, I want her to die. The weak cannot live in a world for the strong" he said.

Katsu got pissed.

"Don't act all high and Mighty you Jerk, your teammate need help, So help!!!" He shouted anger evident In his eyes from the Uchiha's response.

"How about you die in her place then," Zeref said.

He pulled out his own sword and charged, Katsu charged with his own weapon.

Sword clashed against each other as the two swordsmen fought against each other.

Blazing red eyes met a pair of harsh brown.

"You Jerk!!" Katsu shouted performing a mud wall Jutsu.

Zeref smashed the wall to pieces only to discover Katsu was gone.

Katsu who was underground then realized something.

Zeref had his Sharingan on, he knew what it did so how come he didn't know where Katsu was.

Katsu used the headhunter Jutsu and pulled Zeref up to his head before holding his hand in a hand sign.

"Kai!"

Zeref and Mika rippled out of existence to show the damage he had done to the area. He was alone.

"If Sensei can use Genjutsu I'm gonna need help" Katsu confirmed a serious look in his eye.

'Zeref wouldn't actually abandon his team..... right?' He thought jumping off to find his two teammates.

Neisho's clone gave a small sign before going off to join the real Neisho.

Finally with Zeref Neisho had to admit the boy was smart.

He had hidden in a tree and covered it with Genjutsu so it would be harder to detect him. He just didn't think about how easy it is to detect the Genjutsu.

When Neisho found Zeref he immediately performed his family bloodline Jutsu.

"Capture complete" he stated as Zeref was held still by his shadow forced to follow his Sensei's every move.

Neisho brought him to an open area surrounded by the forest.

"Your smart I'll give you that, so wanna tell me why you look like your about to murder me?" Neisho asked.

He may be a Lazy Nara but that didn't mean he didn't care about his students.

"When we had to hand our items over the only thing I could give was my scarf and Necklace, both of which are gifts from my dead brother. I swore to protect them and never take them off unless needed. Having that scarf gone is like a piece of him and I have gone with it." Zeref explained, his three tomoe Sharingan spinning very slowly.

"So that's why...." Neisho trailed off. He then noticed the small smirk on Zeref's face.

Another Zeref broke through the ground and punched Neisho right in the jaw.

Both Neisho and the captured Zeref disappeared in a cloud of smoke before they appeared in the clearing.

"You knew I was there before?" Neisho asked impressed.

"Hn"

"What a drag"

They both stared at each other in silence, a light breeze blew past and Zeref made the first move.

Zeref used a burst of speed and bolted towards Neisho who was impressed by his speed.

They engaged in a close-range Taijutsu fight, both were kicking punching and dodging. Zeref went to punch Neisho's stomach but the man caught it.

Zeref immediately jumped to kick Neisho in the Chin but he caught his leg with his other hand.

With both hands occupied, Zeref went to grab his scarf which sat around his Sensei's neck.

Neisho leaned back to dodge the grab and threw Zeref away.

Zeref rolled before using his hands to flip off the ground and immediately started creating hand signs at a high Chunin pace.

"Fire Style: Great Fire Ball Jutsu!" He shouted.

A huge ball of fire flew towards Neisho.

"Earth Style: Mudwall" Neisho countered.

When the flames disappeared Nesiho stood tall, Zeref activated his Sharingan and tried to lock Neisho in a Genjutsu.

Neisho went still and his head dropped.

Zeref smirked and walked over to his Sensei right as he went to grab his Scarf Neisho punched him in the chin hard.

Zeref flew up into the sky, he looked down and Saw a clone, it looked slightly damaged but nothing more.

Another clone came from the woods and kicked Zeref back towards the ground.

Zeref's back smashed against the ground with a force that bounced him back up into the air.

The captured Neisho disappeared in a cloud of smoke as the real Neisho came from underground punching Zeref in his back hard.

Mika appeared out of the wood, grabbed the damage Zeref from the air and retreated to the forest.

When she settled down she was with Katsu who met up when they headed towards the commotion.

"Guys this is impossible alone what to do??" Mika said.

"We work together" Katsu agreed.

"No, he's mine!, I'll get that scarf back if I have to die to do it," Zeref muttered.

"And what good will that do, let's work together and we can help each other get what we want it's a lot easier than doing it on your own," Katsu explained.

"Fine, any ideas?" Zeref asked.

The other two shook their head.

"Ok, here's the plan" Zeref whispered.

Time skip

Neisho stood in the open field, they have less than an hour left.

He looked up to the sky and gave a sigh.

He then leaned back slightly to dodge a Kunai thrown at him.

He looked at the direction it came from and saw a pissed Katsu.

"You think that Genjutsu was funny" he growled out.

Katsu charged at Neisho with his sword and engaged in a battle Kunai against Sword.

Neisho was about to hit Katsu when the boy suddenly disappeared.

Neisho's eyes widened before he fluctuated his chakra.

"Kai"

In front of him was no longer Katsu but Zeref with his Sharingan blazing.

Zeref landed a solid blow on Neisho's side, he jumped into the air and threw some chakra infused Shuriken at him.

Neisho blocked them all, but one flew past him, when it was right behind him, Katsu popped into existence and Grabbed his Headband, he rolled onto the ground and tied it back around his head.

Katsu then charged at Neisho with Zeref.

Neisho immediately spotted that Zeref was a much better Swordsman then Katsu but it was clearly from Training.

The two boys tagged teamed against Niesho well, giving the man little time to breath, but both Zeref and Katsu were running out of breath.

Mika suddenly appeared from Zerefs headband, when Neisho was about to right hook him, she grabbed her Bracelet and jumped back.

She performed some hand signs before the world around the boys slowly disappeared.

Katsu backed out of the fight and eventually disappeared.

Zeref was panting like a dog.

With his now sluggish movements, Neisho connected a hit that even though his Sharingan caught, his body wasn't fast enough to keep up with.

Zeref was sent flying when he suddenly poofed out of existence.

"Kai" Neisho shouted, fluctuating his Chakra.

He then noticed that Katsu and Mika were charging at him.

From above Zeref kicked Neisho hard, he grabbed his scarf, before using the man as a springboard, flipped and landed next to his team.

All three teammates had their items back.

The bell went off and signaled the end of the task right as Zeref wrapped his scarf around his Neck when it and the other two items disappeared in a cloud of smoke along with their sensei.

"WHAT!!" Mika shouted in anger.

The real Katsu walked onto the training field a bag of Ichiraku's Ramen.

"Oh hey, you guys are done?" He asked.

They all spotted their items were still on him.

"The hell," Katsu said.

Zeref only twitches at the felling of his scarf missing.

"Hmm? Oh right here" Neisho said.

He handed them all Ramen and their items.

"Well done you passed. I wanted to see if you could work together, to get hold of your precious items." Neisho explained.

"We passed?" Mika asked, wanting to confirm.

Neisho nodded his head, a small but proud smile rested on his face.

"We are officially Team 5, we will be Training tomorrow before we start Missions, so meet here at 5 am," Neisho ordered before disappearing.

"TEAM 5 RULES!!" Mika shouted.

Zeref rolled his eyes before walking over to the bottom of his cliff.

"What are you doing?" Katsu asked.

"I'm going to my favorite spot, while training," Zeref said.

He started climbing the cliffside without any help from Chakra.

"See ya tomorrow then," Katsu said with a sigh.

Mika smiled.

"Goodluck Zeref, bye!" She shouted bolting off to go get some food.

When Zeref got to his brother's shrine he sat there peacefully.

"I'm an official Ninja Nee-San. I'm close to getting the information I want. I just need a large distraction. If nothing happens at the upcoming Chunin exams, I'll make a distraction." He said.

Zeref heard footsteps but didn't turn around.

"How did your team do?" Sasuke asked.

"Passed, you?" Zeref muttered watching the sky darken.

"Passed," Sasuke said.

Sasuke sat next to Zeref and leaned on him slightly.

Sasuke did this a lot so Zeref didn't mind, but Sasuke's heart was pounding in his chest.

"We should go eat" Zeref muttered.

"Let's stay like this for a bit," Sasuke said lightly.

Zeref looked at the boy in confusion, he's never sounded so...... small.

"Please" he whispered. Red bloomed across the younger Uchiha's face as he looked anywhere but at the source behind his drumming heart.

"Ok"

Zerefs voice to Sasuke sounded so smooth and calm that he turned Into his favorite food.

And so the two Uchihas sat on the cliff leaned against each other watching the stars, in peace with a bond that slowly started to grow between the two.

Well, I've given you guys some Zersuke since its currently winning, but Gaaref ain't that far behind. I'll give you some Gaaref soon.

Also for you guys who are somewhat confused about what Zeref looks like, he looks like Sasuke in a way, he was Roborn after all, I drew it to the best of my ability. I don't think it looks good but here. He still has the same eyes and the little piece at the top but the rest I redrew to make him look more like an Uchiha, though as a child he looked more like himself, ill draw that later on. I'll also draw him as a 16-year-old later when we hit that stage.
