Dragon Trap

Krystal's POV

A couple of months had passed since Krystal had come to the Edge and it had been the best months Krystal had ever had. The rest of the gang quickly found out about the whole meadow episode, and they wouldn't leave the two alone. Ruffnut constantly asked questions and Astrid gave Krystal advice about boys. Fishlegs, Snotlout, and Tuffnut all cheered for Hiccup, Tuff taking it a bit far by smacking Hiccup on the rear. Krystal and Hiccup had come closer over the days, often taking patrols together.

"Hey, Krystal! Try to keep up!" Krystal laughs as Hiccup and Toothless dive away.

"Come on, Shadow." She whispers into the dragon's ear. Shadow purrs in response, instantly camouflaging into the sky. When Hiccup looks back, Krystal was gone.

"Krystal?" Hiccup pulls Toothless to a stop, who growls in curiosity. "Krystal? Krystal!"

"Hello." Hiccup screams as a voice whispers in his ear. He turns to see Krystal, who was laughing so hard, she had to hold onto Shadow's horns to keep herself from falling. "Your face!"

"Ha ha, very funny." Hiccup leans over and kisses the girl on the cheek. Since the meadow, he had gotten much more comfortable with her, expressing his love for her in little kisses and touches. Krystal still caught herself blushing, constantly telling herself that she shouldn't be after all this time. This time, she simply smiles, the same smile that sends Hiccup's heart racing. The moment is interrupted when a horn is heard from far below.

"Distress signal?" Krystal looks at Hiccup.

"Only one way to find out." Hiccup sends Toothless into a dive, Krystal and Shadow right behind them. The two riders spot a ship, which looked as if it had just been through a fight.

"That's odd. There's no symbol on the main sail." Hiccup says. Krystal flies Shadow closer, looking for survivors.

"Help us!" A man appears, limping heavily. Krystal, having always had a kind spirit, immediately flies closer. That's when she realizes her mistake.

"NOW!" Chains from unknown sources explode from the ship, tying around Shadow's legs and wings. The dragon lets out a roar as he falls onto the ship's deck. Krystal tumbles off, landing with a thud.

"Krystal!" Hiccup shouts, but he and Toothless are unable to draw closer without getting hit as well.

"Hiccup, go!" Krystal shouts. "Get out of here!" Krystal could see that Hiccup was torn between helping Krystal and saving himself.

"Go, Hiccup! Go get help!" This snaps Hiccup out of his inner battle and he steers Toothless away. Krystal sees him cast one more glance at her before disappearing.

"Hurry." That was the last thing that Krystal says as one of the hunters hit her over the head and she drops into unconsciousness.

Astrid's POV

"They've been gone for too long." Astrid says, pacing the floor.

"They probably just got held up." Fishlegs guesses.

"Yeah, got 'held up'." Tuffnut says to Ruffnut, adding the finger quotations. Fishlegs shoots the boy a glare while Astrid huffs in annoyance.

"We should go out and find them." Astrid says. Just then, Hiccup bursts in the room, panting.

"Hiccup! Are you alright?" Astrid hugs the boy.

"Where's Krystal?" Snotlout looks behind Hiccup, expecting to see the girl.

"The Dragon Hunters...they ambushed us...they took Krystal and Shadow..." Hiccup says. Astrid fully looks at the boy. His eyes were red from crying and his face was scrunched in distress. Astrid turns Hiccup to her and looks him in the eye.

"We're going to find her." She says. Hiccup nods, some relief spreading into his eyes. Astrid looks at the others. "Mount up, gang. We need to find Krystal and get her back."
