9(Shadowhunters)

An Au where after you turn ten, you start receiving your soulmate's favourite things(objects, not food drinks or people...I would say that pets could be it but I can't see Magnus without Chairman Meow besides he probably would start a war to get his cat back).

Magnus once he turned ten, didn't receive anything which made him think that he didn't have or didn't deserve a soulmate for being a child of a demon but once starting to know more about being a warlock he learnt that many warlocks' soulmates were many years younger then them so it could take a long time till he finally received something from his soulmate.

For the first centuries Magnus was hopeful but slowly he lost that hope which lead him to Camille which didn't end up well.

It was only a few years after the defeat of Valentine that Magnus for the first time received something from his soulmate, he had been so happy about it until he noticed that one of the things he got was something that only shadowhunters were given.

That made Magnus feel a bit unsure if destiny wanted him to suffer seeing how shadowhunters treated downworlders but in the end, he decided to wait until he met whoever was his soulmate to make a decision.

So imagine his surprise that on the day he decided to wear his soulmate's favourite necklace, he met a beautiful shadowhunter that was wearing his favourite ring that was the last thing Magnus had from his mother.

Unfortunately, they didn't have time to even exchange names as two circle members appeared in Pandemonium and the shadowhunter was called by another one but both couldn't forget the other.

It took a week until Magnus' soulmate contacted him to set a meeting between them by using the excuse of the wards of the Institute which made Magnus realize that his soulmate was no other then the eldest son of Maryse and Robert Lightwood.

Despite finding it hard to believe his soulmate was the son of two people Magnus hated, he still went to the meeting as the crimes of the parents were not the crimes of the child and he had promised himself to give a chance to his soulmate.

How things go from here(if they follow canon, what changes will this make happen, if the other ships are canon ones, etc) is up to the writer.
