9.Wishes

(Chanyeol's POV)

   "Hurry up guys, she'll be here any minute now!" I said. It was the evening of (Y/N)'s birthday and Mi Sun and the Exo members were helping me to get everything ready for the surprise party. We had booked a cozy little restaurant beside an amusement park for the evening. It was nearly 7 o'clock and (Y/N) was due any minute.

   I had wished her this morning so she wouldn't be suspicious, though I pretended I forgot to get her a present. With Mi Sun's help, I had scouted out the perfect gift for (Y/N) - a simple yet elegant, midnight blue dress. I knew she would walk into the restaurant in jeans and a sweater because she thought she would be just having dinner with her mother, so I figured it would be a good gift.

   Everyone was rushing around doing last minute check ups and balloon blowing while I fretted and told everyone to hurry up. At one point, Suho hyung told me to calm down.

  "Do you think she'll like it hyung?" I asked worriedly.

  "She'll love it," he said reassuringly. "Don't worry so much."

 Just then, Kai who was on the lookout for (Y/N) whispered urgently "Quick they're coming! Hide!"

  We switched off the lights and dove for cover behind the tables. I positioned myself next to the door with a confetti popper in my hand. We all waited, and then, as (Y/N) pushed open the door, we all jumped out and yelled "SUPRISE!"

   Her lips parted to form a surprised "oh" and then slowly widened into a grin as her eyes took everything in. Everyone surged forward, hugging her, wishing her and giving her presents while I hung back a bit.  (Y/N) saw me and came forward, pulling me into a big hug.

  "Suho said that you were the one who planned all this," she said "Komawo chanyeol. This is the greatest birthday ever! You're the best!"

   "It's no big deal," I said casually but I was glowing from the inside at her compliment. She likes it! She looked so cute and there were a few pieces of confetti stuck in her hair, making her look even cuter (if that was possible). I reached out and softly brushed them aside and a pink tinge crept into (Y/N)'s cheeks. Did I just make her blush?!

   "There's one problem though," she said, recomposing herself. "I'm dressed way too casually." 

  "I've got that covered," I handed her my present "This is my gift for you". Looking slightly bemused, she took the gift and retreated into the washroom with Mi Sun. A few minutes later, Mi Sun stepped out and announced, "Ladies and Gentleman! I present to you, (Y/N)!" (Y/N) stepped in to the room shyly and was met by a wave of whoops and whistles from the Exo members. But I just stood there, stunned into silence.

   (Y/N) looked gorgeous I had always thought she was cute but I never saw how stunningly beautiful she was- perfectly shaped lips, high cheekbones and big brown eyes fringed with feathery lashes. She had taken her hair out of it's usual ponytail and it cascaded down her shoulders in soft waves. The blue, off-the-shoulder dress was very flattering on her and there was a small pendant glinting at the base of her throat.

  I stood there transfixed, unable to tear my eyes away from her. The temperature in the room felt like it had shot up 50 degrees. Was it possible to fall in love with the same person again and again? I thought. Because I think I just did.

(Y/N's POV) 

  The party was AMAZING. Totally the best birthday ever. There was delicious food and the music was a blast too- as it should be, considering there were 12 singers present. Of course, with Exo being present, there was endless chaos and loudness so at one point, I went out to the balcony to take a breather. 

  The night air was cool and refreshing. I could see the Ferris wheel of the amusement park, off to the right. There was something so magical about a Ferris wheel at night, when it was all lit up and the crowds were less. Though I've been on one during the day, I've always wanted to ride one at night.

  "It looks beautiful doesn't it?" a voice behind me said. It was Chanyeol. He came over to my side and leaned on the railing. 

  "It is," I said "I've always wanted to ride one when it's all lit up in brilliant lights and looks enchanting...like something out of a fairytale."

  "We can go now if you want," Chanyeol said turning to me "It'll be a lot less crowded too"

  "Jinja?!" I said excitedly. We went indoors to grab our coats and to tell omma where we were going. We stepped out into the quiet night and walked the few paces to the amusement park in silence. Chanyeol had his mask and cap on as he didn't want anyone to recognize him. He was right about the amusement park- there were hardly any people about. He got tickets for the two of us and we made our way to the Ferris wheel.

  "You know something?" Chanyeol suddenly said as we waited for our turn. "There's a story that if lovers kiss on top of a ferris wheel, they'll be together forever"

  "Oh," I said unable to think of anything else to say. My cheeks were flaming and hopefully it was too dark for Chanyeol to notice. Was he implying something? Don't be stupid! It's probably nothing.

  It was finally our turn and we got into the little car. As we slowly rose, I could see the whole city spread below us like a magical carpet. The higher we rose, the more further we could see, until we reached the top and a sea of tiny lights twinkled below us. The wind blew and the car rocked softly.

  "This is so beautiful," I said turning my face towards Chanyeol.

  Everything else I was going to say instantly melted away as he suddenly leaned in and kissed me.
