Chapter 4
04:34, 26 March 2023A few days went by. Olivia woke up to her alarm going off.
"Morning." Callie said.
Olivia waved to her sister. She got out of bed and started to get dressed.
When she was heading downstairs, she saw Brandon banging on the door.
"Don't tell me you need to get into the bathroom, too." He said.
Olivia shook her head.
"Good morning, Olivia." Lena greeted as Olivia came into the kitchen.
Olivia nodded to her and Stef. "Oh. Before we forget. Here." Lena said, handing her a phone. "A voice app has already been downloaded for you."
Olivia nodded. She noticed Stef making lunches for everyone. She opened the voice app and typed something out. "What are you making?" The voice app said.
"Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for everyone." Stef answered. Olivia slightly bit her lip. "Do you not like peanut butter and jelly?" Stef asked.
"I don't mind it." Olivia typed. "It's just not my favorite."
"Did you want something different?" Stef asked.
"No, peanut butter and jelly is fine." Olivia typed, quickly. "Just forget I said anything."
"Olivia, you don't have to be afraid to speak up." Lena said.
"What is your favorite sandwich?" Stef asked.
"I like ham and cheese with ranch better." Olivia answered.
"Then, I'll make that for you." Stef said.
"No, it's fine." Olivia typed. "I can have peanut butter and jelly or I can make my own sandwich."
"I don't mind, Olivia." Stef said as she grabbed the ham and cheese out of the fridge. "I think we're out of ranch dressing, but we'll get it for you the next time we go shopping."
"That's okay. Thank you." Olivia typed. "I'm sorry for asking for something different."
"And you don't have to apologize for everything." Stef said, adding on to what Lena said. "It's ok." Olivia nodded. "Make sure you get breakfast before the rest of the monsters come down." Stef said.
"Stef." Lena said.
"It was a joke, honey." Stef said.
Olivia giggled and poured herself a bowl of cereal. The rest of the kids came down while she ate.
After she finished eating, Olivia went upstairs to brush her teeth and grab her stuff. "I'm ready, so I'm going to head out." Olivia typed.
"Are you sure you don't want to ride with us?" Lena asked.
"Yeah. I'll just bike to school." Olivia typed. "This way, you have one less person in the car."
"I guess that's one way to look at it." Lena said.
Olivia liked bike riding, so Stef and Lena had gotten her a bike. She put her bag in the basket and hopped on the bike, heading to the school.
At lunch, Olivia walked outside to her spot. A few days ago, she had adopted to, in her opinion, the perfect spot to eat her lunch. A bench on on the beach, overlooking the water. It was calm and quiet, allowing her to eat and read in peace.
"Hey." Came a voice behind her.
Olivia turned around to see her sister standing there, who then joined her on the bench. "Hey." She greeted back.
"You doing ok?" Callie asked. "I know it's been a little overwhelming for you, lately."
"Yeah, I'm alright." Olivia answered.
"Looks like the voice app is working out well." Callie said.
Olivia nodded in agreement. She looked around and noticed her brother sitting with a boy. "Looks like Jude made a friend." She typed.
"Yeah." Callie said. "I'm glad he did."
"Me too." Olivia agreed.
"Now, we just need to find you a friend." Callie said.
"I don't need any friends." Olivia typed.
"Everyone needs friends." Callie said.
"What about you, then?" Olivia asked. "You need friends, as well."
"No I don't." Callie said.
"We have each other to keep each other company." Olivia typed. The two girls laughed.
After school, Lena had told the Jacobs siblings that she wanted to talk to them. Apparently Jude had to take a placement test for him to stay at Anchor Beach.
"This isn't fair." Callie said.
"I know." Lena said.
"What will happen if he doesn't pass it?" Olivia asked.
"Then, he'll have to go to a different school." Lena replied. The three siblings eyes widened. "But, I'm not going to let that happen." Lena continued. "We're going to spend all week getting you ready for the test." The three kids nodded.
While Olivia was working on homework, she heard a huge fight going on downstairs between Brandon and Stef about Brandon moving in with his dad.
The next evening, Olivia was in her room reading. Callie was working on homework.
Just then, there was a knock on the door. "Come in." Callie said.
Jude walked into the room. "Lena said to come downstairs to play a game." He said. The two girls walked downstairs.
"We're playing a game?" Olivia asked.
"Yes, we're playing a game." Lena said.
Olivia saw that Talya, Brandon's girlfriend was here. Jude then came down with Monopoly. H
"I don't think there's enough for everyone." Stef said. "We might have to play in teams."
"I call Jude." Olivia typed.
"I thought I was your board game buddy?" Callie asked.
"But, I want to win." Olivia typed.
"Oh, I see how it is." Callie said. "Some twin you are." Olivia chuckled.
Just as they were about to start, Brandon came home from being with his dad.
"Hey B." Stef said. "We saved you room, if you want to join us."
Brandon hesitated for a moment. "I think I'm going to move in with my Dad." He finally said.
"I'm going to get some tea before we start." Stef said, ignoring what Brandon said. "Does anyone want anything?"
Brandon's announcement gave a lull to the mood it was before he came home, but they continued to play the game.
AN: Callie and Olivia's room.
