Chapter 3: The Compartment

A/N: hello readers! i hope you enjoyed the last chapter. 'll make this chapter more complicated for hermione and fred. they are on their fourth year at hogwarts and it's my favorite year ever! do you think he'll finally tell his feelings for hermione? let's see!

FRED'S POV

we arrived at home nearly dusk. it was a bit quick since mum wanted to return home early to cook for us, since we only have one more week as an almost complete family. i was holding hands with hermione since we left the book shop. i wasn't speaking to her that much because i was infuriated on how that malfoy git treated hermione. 

"you alright? you haven't talked much" hermione said as she grabbed 2 glasses and poured mum's home made pumpkin juice and gave the other one to me as we sat down at the living room. i pulled her closer to me and stared at the fireplace. 

"yeah, i'm fine. i'm already calm. sorry for the silent treatment mia" she gave me a soft smile

"it's fine. you're not the only one malfoy pisses off. harry and ron would do the same you know" 

"he should run off to his father like the coward he is" i grunted as i sipped my juice. 

"malfoy's having a hard time since his father is a very influential  wizard in a bad way" i said trying to make him understand

"still. he shouldn't call any muggle born that. or treat other people like vermin" he said and placed our glasses at the table. mum was in the kitchens with ginny while the boys helped setting up the table outside. mum predicted that it wasn't going to rain since the stars were shining like diamonds.

I pulled hermione up and went outside. Showing her the most beautiful scenery we have everyday. 

'oh wow. this view is extraordinary. like in the books" i smiled as i slowly lock our fingers together. 

"you're beautiful. just like the moon above" as i brushed strands of hair out of her face. should i tell her right now? 

"hermione. i've been waiting for this time to talk to you personally" 

"about what fred?" she said in a confused way. i pulled her a bit closer to me

"Mia, i have always-"

"Kids! dinner time!" mum shouted and closed my eyes in a frustrated way. ugh. nice one mum. she chuckled at my expression and kissed my cheek

"we'll talk later fred. without any interruption" she smiled and left to sit with ginny and harry.

"let's go- fred? why are you smiling?" george asked. 

"i'm in love dear brother. do me a favor will you?"

"anything for my twin. what is it?"

"i want to talk to hermione in private without anyone interrupting. can you do that for me?" george smirked.

"got it brother. but i might need a little help from our little sister"

Hermione's POV

after dinner, we helped mrs. weasley in cleaning up since we'll be going back to hogwarts tomorrow. george was telling everyone a scary story as he stands behind the fireplace when ginny decides to go outside for some fresh air. when i went out ginny wasn't there

"gin?" i look around and saw someone else standing behind me. my favorite weasley.

"fred. have you seen-"

"she's all yours brother" ginny said as she came out behind fred and winked. we laughed as fred stood next to me and pulled his wand as he summoned blankets outside. he sat down and pulled me down next to him

"so fred what is this all about?" i asked

"well... i wanted to talk to you properly" 

"about what?"

"uh.. well.." i can feel him getting nervous 

"oh my god, did you knock someone random girl?" i said jokingly my eyes widens and laughed

"HAHA mia very funny" he said and rolled his eyes

"just tell me fred. you don't have to hide it" as i wrapped my own blanket around me and rested my head on his shoulder. 

"hermione granger. i think you are the most wonderful witch i have ever met. you're sweet, caring, the smartest and brave. you're perfect." he paused. 

"Mione i really-" we both stopped when we heard noises inside the house. we looked at each other and ran inside

"GEORGE WEASLEY I TOLD YOU NOT TO LEAVE ANY PRANKS IN ANY PART OF THIS HOUSE!' mrs weasley screamed as the boys put out the fire coming from the box. he gave us an apologetic look.

"mum found our dragon" he smiled awkwardly. fred looked at him like his twin will be dead no sooner than later. 

"YOU TOO FRED WEASLEY! YOU TWO BETTER LOOK FOR YOUR ITEMS. IF A PERSON IS HARMED BECAUSE OF THAT, I WILL NOT SEND YOU BACK TO SCHOOL!" 

both of them groaned. i laughed and went upstairs while ginny was right behind me

"so did he already told you?" she said giggling

"tell me what?"

she suddenly frowned. "i'm gonna kill george for this"

"ginny." i pulled her back inside my room and closed the door

"what is fred going to tell me?"

"well... you have to ask him"

"ginny weasley tell me the truth or else i'm telling harry your-"

"MY BROTHER LIKES YOU!" she covered her mouth as soon as she blurted out

"wha-what?" 

"fred weasley. fancies the brightest witch of our age" i faked a laugh

"funny gin"

"but it's true! can't you see the way his eyes shines when he's with you?" 

"but... he's still with katie bell. they are still writing to each other. i can see her letters under his closet"

"i'm telling you-"

"i'll believe what you say ginny. if he says it himself. for now, i don't want to think about what you said." sat on my bed and let my thoughts wonder.n is it true? does the boy i fancy since 2nd year fancy me too? i fell asleep as i kept thinking about him.

it was morning and everything was already set. we arrived on time and bid goodbye to mr and mrs. weasley. we looked for a vacant compartment. fred and george sat immediately and closed their eyes. fred used me as his pillow, his head on my thighs. i smiled as i continue to read my book. harry and ron sat on each side of george, stuffing themselves with sweets. 

"what do you think was mum, dad and percy were talking about this year's event?" ron said as he opened the box of bertie bott's 

harry shrugged. "i don't know. i mean, i still have to write to sirius about the other night and my dream. i fear something bad is going to happen" he said as he grabbed a piece of parchment and his quill and ink. 

"sirius needs to know that. it might have a connection with-"

"with what?" we looked at the girl with the pixie hair

"Katherine!" she greeted us with a smile, trying not to wake up the twins

our eyes look from her smile down to her robes. green and white.

"you're in slytherin?" she gave us a small nod.

"yeah, i forgot to tell you. but don't worry-"

"well well.... talking to a mudblood and blood traitors" a boy with gray eyes and silver hair said. draco malfoy stood right beside katherine. she began to frown.

fred stirred and slowly sat up. he looked at the door and saw malfoy. he gave him an irritating stare

"what are you doing here malfoy? is he causing trouble?" he laughed as he wrapped his arm around katherine's waist. we all stared at the two

"just telling my girlfriend to avoid you lot,  she's wasting her time talking to you filth" fred stood anger written on his face. before anyone can react, katherine twisted malfoy's arm. he moaned like a wounded pup as we all laughed.

"i'm pretty sure we ended our fling since i saw you with pansy. remember? and don't say anything foul to my friends. they saved my life. what good did you do to me?" she gave us an apologetic smile and dragged malfoy.

"okay that was hilarious!" harry said holding his stomach as he continue to laugh

"malfoy was beaten by a girl!" 

"he's a git just like his father. " i said as i calmed fred down. he kissed the top of my head. 

"mia" he whispered. they groaned

"get a room when we get to hogwarts. you're going to make us barf" george said and pretended to barf next to ron. ginny slapped his arm hard 

"just because you haven't told angelina your-"

"shush ginny!"

i can feel fred's hand slowly going to my hand when katie passed by and opened the door

"hey! i miees you my weasley!" she pulled him outside and gave him a quick kiss. all of us stared at the two. i can feel my heart slowly breaking into pieces. 

"excuse me" i said and left

"hermi-"

"why didn't you write to me fred? i missed you!"

GEORGE'S POV

"i told you katie we are done!" fred said in frustration. ginny leaned next to my ear

"why didn't you tell me fred dated a desperate woman? am i gonna hex her?" i shook my head as a sign of no because her bat bogey hex is the most brilliant and at the same time the worst spell. and she's known to be brilliant at that spell

"let freddie deal with his fling" i said and watched. we both looked at katie's expression

"looks like she's not going to let him go that easily" harry whispered. ginny shoved her way out as she looked for hermione. 

after that confrontation, fred sat with his head on his hands. i sat next to my brother

"well, we can't blame ourselves. we're so irresistibly handsome" i joked but i can see it didn't work. i sighed

"don't worry mate, you'll figure this out" ron said 

"why don't you tell hermione that you love her? that way katie should know her place in your life" 

"if hermione talks to me." he groaned "i don't know what to do!"

"well one thing's for sure, we're nearly there so let's change shall we?" we nodded and went to grab our robes. 

At the Great Hall

everyone was watching the sorting ceremony while i continue to talk to angelina, i missed this girl even tough he always wrote to each other this summer. fred kept glancing at hermione and how he sighs and stared at his wand instead. hermione on the other hand is talking to harry and ron. i can see herself forcing a smile on her face.

sometimes, i wish i could just put them in a room and leave them inside the whole night

"let's just leave them inside a room" ginny whispered

"i was thinking the same sweet sister" i whispered back. after the sorting was done, food appeared on the table

"come on fred eat!" ron said as he stuffed chicken inside his mouth

"not really in the mood to eat, but please brother behave like a human not a dog" he said which made everyone laughed

"eet tastees eally goud" he said while hermione looks a bit disgusted. 

"i don't even know where they all go mate" harry chuckled as he drained his pumpkin juice and burped

"that's what i can a feast" ginny laughed as we mostly enjoyed the night. 

At the gryffindor common room

we were sitting on the couch as we talked about the triwizard tournament

"isn't it unfair that only at the age of 17 are allowed to enter?" fred said as he wrapped his arms around hermione

"yeah! why can't we enter? dangerous huh?" george said 

"and they said that hogwarts is the safest place" harry murmured as ginny agreed.

"yeah, i mean you know who hid a basilisk under hogwarts"

"talk about professor quirrell" hermione mumbled

'and the dementors" harry rolled his eyes

"but still, this is very different. maybe even worse" hermione scolded us. 

"now don't do anything reckless or stupid because you can't outsmart dumbledore."

"puhlease granger. fred and i can do anything" as we gave each other a high five. 

"don't say i didn't warn you boys" she winked at fred and went to their bedroom.
