Chapter two: Katherine

A/N: hello readers! sorry if it took a while for me to rewrite this. i'll make a few changes in the next chapters and leave a comment if it's better or whatsoever. imma focus on hermione and fred and other otps included here. let me know what you think or leave your opinions too. enjoy the chapter!

HERMIONE'S POV

"okay hold on to the portkey" mr. wealsey ordered.

next thing i knew we were flying up in the air. 

"let go kids!"

"what?!" i shouted

"LET. GO!" next thing i knew we were on the ground groaning. well that hurt my back 

"need a hand miss granger?" i looked up and saw fred smiling... he's that handsome... okay i have got to stop thinking about that... i smiled and took his hand and pulled me up offering me his arm.. i laughed and held it... he's working out i think... oh hermione stop thinking 

"well here we are..home sweet home" mr. weasley said proudly as we looked at the tent... 

we all looked at each other and shrugged. each of us entered the tent. my jaw dropped as i went inside. how lovely and it really feels like we're camping. in a muggle way though. 

"i love magic" harry whispered and i nodded and smiled.

 i followed ginny and sat on the bed between fred and ginny's. 

"hermione why did you brought a book?" ginny said as i opened my book. i shrugged at her expression

"you know me ginny" i said turning the next page. she rolled her eyes and grabbed my book.

"well..." she said and took the book and kept it in her bag

"so what if i was doing a bit of light reading?" i grumbled and crossed my arms. she ignored my comment and pulled me up.

"now you'll come with me and the twins to buy some souvenirs" she said puts her arm around mine and went outside.

 we saw fred and george waiting outside and looking around the crowd. boy it was really crowded. 

we saw a stand and bought green scarves and hats since we're supporting ireland... the two painted each other's faces with white and green to match their hats whilst ginny bought a miniature broomstick that floats and flies around you. as for me  i bought a green bonnet to match my scarf.

"hey 'mione it suits you" fred said pointing at the bonnet

"thanks freddie" i smiled and blushed as i turn around to walk with ginny.

"why are you blushing?" she asked eyeing me in a skeptical way

"no i'm not"

"yes you are"

"no i'm not" 

"okay... if u say so" she mocked me in a sing song voice.. as we all went back to the tent, we saw a couple of our classmates and friends with their families. i fell back into my bed playing with my wand. 

"i can't believe my eyes forge" george said as they stood in front of my bed

"our little granger isn't reading gred" said fred

i laughed "ginny hid my book"

"really?? how devastating" george sighed and touched his chest as if he felt sad and smirked. 

"well one thing's for sure, you're not getting that book that easily. may that crumpled pages enjoy the rest of the summer wherever it is" fred said.

i laughed and shook my head. these two really are something.. especially fred 

"come on kids the match is about to start" mr. weasley said excitedly and started to leave the tent with mr. weasley leading the way. 

"you first milady" fred said, his arm gesturing the way out. i smiled "thank you kind sir" i curtsied as i let my hand rest on his arm.

GINNY'S POV

well i guessed my plan is working better that i thought it would be

"hi ginny"i smiled as harry stood right next to me

"hello harry" he nodded and gave me a smile. 

hermione was standing next to me with fred and george. i winked at george as i pushed hermione to make it look like an accident.

"whoops! sorry almost slipped" george looked at me with the nice-move-sister look. i grinned. 

"careful 'mione" fred said as he caught hermione in her shoulders

"guess my seatmate here is having a clumsy day" she gave me a warning look

"i didn't do anything" i winked at hermione as she rolled her eyes at me.

Hermione's POV

well well the twins won the bet. Ireland won but Krum got the snitch!

we heard banging outside. i guess ireland must be celebrating.

"ginny i have to tell you something" i said loud enough so she can hear me since the celebration outside got a little bit louder. 

"what about?" she asked. i look around and said "in private please?" she nodded and went inside the bedroom. 

"so what is it?" i sat beside her and sighed. well.. here it goes. 

"i... uh...  fancy someone you.... know" her eyes widened at what i said. 

"merlin! don't tell me you fancy harry!" i chuckled at her statement and held her hand

"of course not. i will always love harry as a brother." she calmed down and gave me a confusing look.

"who then?"

"its-" i was cut off by mr weasley's warning voice.

"we better get out of here. NOW!" we all went out with our wands tucked inside our jackets. i felt like all my blood has drained from my face as wizards in masks were in the area and everyone was disapparating and leaving. my ears were drowning in people screaming. 

We ran and hid somewhere from the evil wizards when we saw a girl was in a duel with one of the wizards. she stunned him successfully but since she was wounded and too weak, she suddenly fainted. 

"these wizards are looking for muggles or half bloods. we have to help her" i said as we walked to her slowly. 

"but we don't even  know her" ginny said in a disapproving way. i looked at fred. 

"oh come on fred... please?" fred  looked at george and sighed. 

"fine. but if she's like them it's going to be your fault" he said. i smiled at him and looked around. harry and ron weren't with us. i whispered to ginny that i'll be looking for the two. harry might be in danger. 

Ginny's POV

hermione left without the two noticing. harry and ron might be in danger so i had no choice but to let her go. fred carried the girl as we looked for dad. 

"who do you think she is?" i asked fixing her hair. fred stared at her like it was his first time to see a girl.  ugh. boys. 

" i don't know... but she's really pretty" george said as he stared too

"careful georgie. angelina might hear you" i teased.  i can see fred hasn't said anything when  found her. he looked like he's fond of her. 

"first time seeing a girl fred?" i mocked him. he rolled his eyes. 

"very funny ginny" he said as we lay her down on the ground.  i tried cleaning her wound but it won't stop bleeding so we thought of bringing her home so mum can fix her up. 

"i found them" dad said as harry hermione and ron were walking right behind him... fred stood and hugged hermione. they were talking as he continue to hug her like he hasn't seen her in ages. 

"how is she?" hermione asked as she put a bandage around her wound. she still looks pale and cold. 

"we should take her home." dad said... we took our stuff as george was now the one who will carry her.

AT THE BURROW

FRED'S POV

we all walked after we apparated back home. a few were still shock about what happened last night. 

"oh arthur! goodness all of you got home safe and- but who's that? george what did you do?!" dad tried to calm her down as we all went inside. george set her down to our couch. 

"molly calm down it's not his fault. they saw her at the woods unconscious so they helped her but we don't know who she is" dad explained so mum went beside her to check on her wound

"i can see that you can't take your eyes off her" hermione said as she sat beside me. resting her head on my shoulder.

"just curious about her. she might be a death eater." 

"you like her..." she said poking me. i laughed at that accusation

"that's absurd. to be honest i like someone else" i said.  and she's sitting beside me 

"who then?"

pack up the courage fred! "well... she's-"

"she's starting to wake up" mum said. they all looked at the girl as she opened her eyes and scanned our living room. well that's great whatever your name is! 

"where am i?! who are you?! why am i here?!" she nervously

"well well she's awake then...." george said.

when no one answered her,  she stood and pulled her wand out pointing it at us

"calm down. may we know your name?" hermione  asked as she walked slowly toward her. she looked at her and answered. 

"K-Katherine. people call me kate" she stuttered

"katherine.. put your wand down. we won't hurt you dear." said mum... she looked at mum. she slowly put her wand down.

"where do you live exactly?" dad asked. 

"godric's hollow" she said and slowly sat down. still nervous. 

"who were you with yesterday?" asked ginny

"my parents. we're pureblood"

"what school do you go to?" i asked

"hogwarts" 

"what?!" we all shouted in shocked. 

"but...... i can't remember what house i'm in... must have hit my head pretty hard" she said as she rubbed a part of her head. 

"name of your parents dear?" dad asked. 

"Ella and Rupert Grimstone" she said and looked around. 

"do you have a telephone?" she asked. 

"a what?" they said confused. hermione chuckled. 

"a muggle object where you can call someone" hermione said.

"oh no we don't... but we have an owl" ron said. 

"guess she forgot she was a witch" george whispered to ginny and stifle a laugh. 

"oh right... forgot. i'll send a message through my patronus then." she said kindly. 

 she picked up the telescope on the table and admired it "nice telescope-"

"oh dearie put that down!" mrs. weasley said and but too late. the telescope punched percy who stood right behind the couch. 

"oh gosh i'm very sorry!" she got up and helped percy with his papers. george and fred smiled and gave each other a thumbs up. percy suddenly stared at kate. 

"and who is this lovely lady?" percy asked as his eyes twinkled. 

"her name is katherine and don't be sorry dear.  it was the twins fault they left another one lying around"

"oh... i should send a patronus to them.. if you'll excuse me..." she left the living room while they all went back to their rooms exhausted. 

"is it me or are you fond of this.. katherine?" george whisperedas we went to our room. i closed the door and locked it. i sat on my bed as i removed my shirt. 

" that's absurd dear brother" i said

"so why can't you take your eyes off her then?" george asked as we changed and went down for lunch

"i.... don't know really" i said confusingly. kate was already at the living room observing each photo. 

"did you send them your patronus?" mum asked as she invited her to the kitchen 

"yes i did ma'am thank you" she said with a smile. she sat next to ginny and hermione. 

ginny told her what happened last night and how we found her at the forest.

"well fred was a bit fond of you when i found you" ginny said with a smirk

"very funny sis" i rolled my eyes.  

"really? why?" she asked as she tried to identify which twin is me. 

"let's eat!" mum said happily as the food she made slowly landed on the table. they were having a great time  when someone knock on the door. dad excused himself and opened the door. a couple was at the door as we stopped eating.

"sorry to interrupt but is katherine here?" the man asked. "you must be her parents" dad smiled and invited them in. 

"mom! dad!" she said and ran to them giving them a big hug.

"oh my daughter" the woman spoke. we can hear the slight french accent. we saw that her mother is half veela. no wonder. her father approached our parents. 

"thank you for taking care of our katherine."

"we were so worried especially after  what happened" her mom spoke. 

"it was nothing really. come join us for lunch!" mum said and katherine pulled their parents to sit with her.

"uhm why don't you leave her with us since school is coming? we'll take good care of her" mum offered.

"well dear? we don't mind at all if you want to stay. " her father looked at her and smiled

"no thank you... you already took care of me.. it's really embarrassing if i stayed longer" she said.

"it was nothing dear. are you sure?" mum asked

'yes ma'am. i want to spend the rest of the days with my parents. " she rested her head on his father's shoulder

"alright dear. if you like, the boys can accompany the three of you back. for safety" mum said and the boys agreed too. 

"i'm staying here" i whispered to hermione who suddenly looked away from them and stared at me.

"it's fine-" hermione object but i cut her off by holding her hand.

"i'm not leaving your side. you scared me last night" i whispered. she smiled

"i can take care of myself you know" i stared into her chocolate brown eyes.

"i would never forgive myself if something bad happens to you mi- hermione" hermione blushed and looked at her lips.  i was startled when ginny pinched my arm.

"save it for later big brother" she teased.

after we ate, the girls were the ones who washed the dishes while dad and charlie accompanied katherine and her parents home.

i woke up very early because of george's snores and couldn't get back to sleep so i grabbed my shirt and went downstairs to make coffee. i was drowning in my thoughts when i saw hermione humming to herself as she stood at the door way after she tied her bushy hair. 

"hey gorgeous' i said and asked her to sit beside me on the couch as i put the mug on the table. 

"hey handsome" she smiled and yawned. "why so early?" she asked. 

"george snores every night and it's the only habit he has annoys me. i mean come on. i need my beuaty rest too" she laughed at my statement

"then use a silencing charm so you can sleep peacefully" she said in a smart way. 

"right. almost forgot that-"

"we can do magic?" hermione chuckled. i watch her blush i sat closer to her and wrap my arm around her. she leaned and rested her head on my chest. wishing we can stay like this for a while. so this is what it feels. 

"Mia" i whispered. she looked up to me with adoration. i think. 

"yes fred?" she whispered

"when will you-"

"GOOOOOD MOOOOOORNING GUYS!" Ginny and george interrupted. we both jumped and gave each other space. great. i shot them an  annoyed look as hermione went to the kitchen. ugh! so frustrating!

"hey guys.. so uh breakfast?" she asked as she grabbed an apple and took a bite trying to act normal.

"i'll have toast and coffee." ginny winked at her. she rolled her eyes playfully and sat at the end of the table taking another bite on the apple. i sat next to her as i drank my coffee and gave me a smile

"so what's our plan for today?" george asked as he broke the silence

"well, i was thinking of buying my school stuff since i have nothing else to do" hermione said 

"great idea 'mione! can we go shoe shopping in your muggle world? i really want new shoes" ginny asked while taking a big bite on her toast.

"i don't think that's a good idea sis" george said

"yeah gin, i mean the death eaters just revealed themselves out in the open. it's a bit dangerous" i said. i remembered the group of death eaters on the forest tortured anyone on their way that night.

"with or without companions to protect you. and in the muggle world. we should lay low for a while. " george said as i nodded at his suggestion.

"maybe next time gin. it's a bit risky since... i'm muggle born" she said softly

"hey, it's fine. at least come with us when we go to diagon alley later." ginny looked at us. 

"sure why not? i need new robes for quidditch. they're starting to shrink forge" and laughed. 

'great i'll tell mum." ginny left as she looked for mum outside. 

"i should go and help mum outside. 13 people won't fit in here you know" george winked at me and left as the others were outside to fix the tent and tables so we can eat outside. 

there was an awkward silence wound us and for the first time i don't know what to say to hermione.

"i should um.... i should check if i still have.... uh" she stuttered as she stood and walked away

"'mione" she looked nervous as i walked up towards her. 

"y-yeah fred?" 

i tucked a strand of her hair behind her hair. "walk with me later?" i said as i can feel my fingers wanting to touch her hand. her cheeks turning red.

"yeah. i will fred. i'll see you later" she stood on her toes and gave me a quick kiss on my cheek and left the kitchen. woah.

"why so petrified brother?' george stifled a laugh as ginny tried not to scream out of happiness

"you're turning crimson fred. let it out" ginny said

"she kissed me! merlin i think i'm gonna faint" 

"man up brother this is the time you tell her you like her" george said as they both pulled me outside. i kicked one of the gnomes since he punched my leg and grunted. 

"how can i? i was about to when-"

"about to what fred?" harry asked as he tucked his wand on his pocket. the tent was finished putting up and the table and chairs were floating down 

"about to help but you guys are already done. well done mate" i said nervously and went inside the house. so much for man up.

Hermione's POV

after breakfast and cleaning up, mrs weasley decide to join us at diagon alley since the others were too busy or lazy to buy their own school stuff. i tied my shoe laces, grabbed my wand, bag and went downstairs to wait for the others. ginny was already at the living room with her bag waiting impatiently

"where are the boys?! i hate it when they make me wait" i laughed and looked at the time. it was past noon

"it's fine ginny, mrs weasley is still-"

"FRED GEORGE I TOLD YOU TO STOP MAKING THOSE PRANKS!" mrs weasley shouted as the twins ran downstairs laughing

"alright what did you guys do now?" ginny crossed her arms and gave her a molly weasley look.

"we kinda switch ron and percy's shampoo with our product and" they looked at the stairs as ron and percy were coming down fuming mad with long purple hair while percy is completely bald. ginny and i tried to keep a straight face. okay this is hilarious

"i will not be humiliated like this! bring my hair back fred! george!" percy said as mrs. weasley went downstairs with the list of needed to buy for school

"you two are going to fix this when we get back!" she said angrily. we left and went to diagon alley.

'that was a bad move fred" i said as i laughed about their pranks "but great magic. is that what you and george have been doing the whole summer?"

"yep! george and i are going to make products and test it on first years. just to get out of class products and pranking on others. we call it-"

"weasley wizard wheezes!" they said in unison. 

"now that will definitely put you in trouble." i gave them a smug look

"no harm though. we tested first on us before selling it. we're not that dumb mia" fred said

"mia?" george and ginny looked at us. we looked at each other in a awkward way

"it was a name made by my parents. how did you even know that fred?"

"kinda saw it written on one of your journals" he said.

"you've been reading my journal?!"

"no no" he shooked his head. "you fell asleep in the common room oen time and i saw you. all your books and notes are out including your journal. i looked closer and saw on the front cover. Mia." he said apologetically.

i sighed. "i'm sorry i snapped. it's just that. i don't like anyone knowing the content of my personal journals"  he slowly touched my hand and pressed his lips on it. i swear i can feel my breathing stopped. 

"don't worry about it mia" he smiled and winked. i nudged him playfully and pulled him as we were being left behind.

we went inside flourish and blotts since we had to buy new school books. each of us holding a few books mrs weasley grabs from the shelves. we saw familiar faces but we never expect one who suddenly spoke:

"well well.. didn't know you the weasley family's pet granger." i rolled my eyes and gave him an annoying look.

"at least i don't cry out for my father to help me. malfoy" i said annoyingly

"draco, who is this lovely lady?" i looked at the woman behind her. with white hair wrapped in a neatly bun. wearing a dark green dress and a hat. mrs malfoy stood with her head held high just like his father. 

"she's a mudblood. a no one. one of potter's puppies. let's go mother" he said and walked away. i turned around and saw fred with his hands in fists. turning white as he clenched his jaw. 

"i apologize for my son's behavior ms. granger" i gave her a shocked expression. i didn't know his mother is... nice?

"he just wants to be like his father" i laughed sarcastically

"he'll need more practice then. sorry to disturb you" she was about to speak again when i saw draco staring at us. i walked away and held fred's hands

"calm down. just ignore it."

"he called you the 'M' word. that's the most insulting thing he did" i touched his jaw and felt him starting to calm down

"he's not worth it. let's just go okay?" he nodded and held my hand as we left flourish and blotts.
