12. operation: rescue minho pt2

*THOMAS' POV*

we land in a safe place. newt and two other guys drill open the door as sparks fly everywhere. we push the door open and walk inside. around 100 kids were chained to the chairs and ground. "aris...sonya". i continue to walk forward, looking around for minho. i keep reassuring everyone they're safe and that they're free. "thomas, he's not here". sadness filled y/n's eyes as the words left her lips. newt pulls her into his chest, kissing the top of her head.

*Y/N'S POV*laterwe gather into a room, helping aris cleanse his cuts and bruises. "took you guys long enough to rescue us". thomas chuckles. "good to see you too buddy". aris and sonya explains to us where they were heading. a city. there aren't any cities left in the world. thomas, vince, brenda, fry, newt and i sat in a room. thomas pulls out a map and gives us a new plan. "thomas that'll take weeks. it took us six months to get us to here". i look at vince processing what he's saying. "he's right thomas. and now there's over a 100 kids here. we can't just pack up and leave". jorge walks into the room and starts talking about the last city. apparently it's wckd's base of operations.

"does anyone else hear that?". they all look at me, newt turns his head to the radio. "get the light!". thomas yells and we head outside. it was helicopters searching the area. "it's close. they're never gonna stop looking are they". vince walks back to the others, leaving thomas and i alone.

*THOMAS' POV*

i pack up a bag and walk out of the building. "where do you think you're going". a light switches on. newt and y/n stand in front of me. she walks up to me and grabs my bag. "whatever your plan is...we already in". i look and examine their faces. they're seriously gonna help me. "no guys...". newt cuts me off and opens the car door. fry sticks his head out and gives a small wave. "we started this together mate, may as well end it that way too".  we hop in the car and quietly drive off.

the night sky turned bright quickly. we've been driving non-stop for hours. we arrive at an abandoned tunnel with signs everywhere, 'mandatory infection check'. we walk towards the tunnel and stare in silence. newt breaks the silence looking at me and back at the tunnel constantly. "i don't wanna across as too negative, but if i was a crank that exactly where i'd be".  i look down at the map then at the tunnel. i look over at y/n, her eyes lost in the tunnel. "alright i get shotgun". newt says walking back to the car. "you ok y/n?". she snaps back into reality and looks up at newt, nodding and walking with him.

we slowly drive through the darkness, using torches to brighten it up. we come to a stop as we see a crank in our path. "it's just one guys". her voice was shaky as she stared out the windshield. we wind up our windows and turn the torches off. a bang is heard by my window. a lady telling us to help her. more start to pop up around the car, banging the window and pulling on the door handle. "drive fry!". y/n yells out. we speed past them, more showing up out of the shadows. they filled us trying to get on top of the vehicle. before i knew it, the car flips over, smashing into the ground. "is everyone alright?". everyone gave a response but y/n. "tommy, is she ok?!". she look over at her, her head bleeding a lot. i kick the door open, pulling her out first. newt follows shortly after, taking y/n from my grasp. she was awake, just very out of it.

a crank start coming our way. "fry come on!". we all yell to him. we pulls out a shot gun and shoot the crank in the head. "nice shot fry"."thanks y/n". more start coming out from behind rusted cars and metal boxes. we start running out of the tunnel. we stop in our tracks as more come from the other direction. frypan starts shooting them from both sides, until the gun runs out of ammo. a car comes towards us, stopping right in front of y/n. it was brenda and jorge telling us to get in. we do what was told and drive out into safety.

"if that tunnel is overrun with cranks hermanos, chances are the city will be too". i look over at the guys and y/n beside me, newt looking out into the distance. "unless they figured out some other way to keep the cranks out". y/n's head snaps up and looks where newt is looking. "holy shit". she always had a bit of a mouth on. jorge pulls over, all of us getting out of the vehicle. the city was surrounding by large brick walls. "so after many years of breaking out of walls, we just wanna break back in?". the sass in her voice got all eyes on her. brenda calls us back into the car to make tracks to the city.
