15 - finn the cat

Time flies. like literally. It's January and it's past new years now.

The last few weeks, Mark and Jieun had been inseparable. Going out on outings which they don't call dates cause they're not dating.

Jieun was there whenever Mark needed a study partner, though she was just there being on her phone and Mark did all the studying. He did however enjoy her presence.

Mark was there whenever Jieun needed someone to do her midnight shenanigans with. He went to tons of parties, met a lot of different faces and discovered drinks that you never knew you could order at the bar.

They've gone shopping, ice skating, watching the premiere for the new spiderman no way home, going to a newly opened ice cream shop and even did countdowns for new years together.

They'd hang out in the day and end up fucking each other in their beds at night. The same old routine that they never seem to get tired of.

Occasionally Mark would surprise Jieun at her shared apartment with Seolla, knowing well that she was out with Haechan, and so they could have the whole place for just the two of them.

And Jieun would do the same at Mark's. His hoodies would end up in her closet and her undergarments can be found in his laundry.

Jieun had even done the impossible - she made Mark watch a horror movie with her. It took her three days to convince him. And in return he made her buy him a vanilla frappe for the whole week.

It's been three months and more since this whole 'friends with benefits' thing has started. Jieun had grown fond of Mark and Mark had gotten used to her antics.

Time flies. It really does.

and now it's January, which means a new year, and a new semester.

Today was your typically Tuesday morning.

The voice of Ms Choi, their lecturer, fills the room.

"Alright, I think that's all for today, you may all be dismissed" She said as she concluded the class, "remember to submit your heat transfer work on Turnitin this Sunday! and don't procrastinate your work" with that she exited the room.

"Damn, it's Tuesday and I'm beat" Jaehyun groaned as he stood up for a stretch.

"by the way how's your pinch analysis work going?" The boy looked over to his buddy.

Mark who was laying his head on the table exhausted from their chemistry class, "Not very well, I think I'm gonna start pulling all-nighters from now on. I need to work hard for our last semester"

"all-nighters huh? why, have Jieun been messing with you lately?" He cocked one of his eyebrows.

"what? no. there's just so much work for this semester dude, and you know very well how I feel about my grades" He said, almost defensive.

The girl wasn't bothering him in any way for sure. He might find her annoying at certain times, but it her annoyance entertains him and keeps him sane from all his work. 

"yea I know I know, just surprised that you guys still have that thing going on" He nodded.

"being friends with benefits?" He questioned and Jaehyun gave him a little nod.

"yeah me too" Mark replied with a small chuckle.

Three months surely didn't seem like a long time, and it surely didn't feel like it has been three months since they had first met.

Mark didn't know what kept him going, but somehow he always finds himself going back to her whenever he needed company.

3:23 am.

Mark looked over to his phone, "dang already three?" a sigh came out as he muttered to himself.

Exhausted from his pinch analysis work and lab report, he decided he needed a break. A very much needed one.

What better than ramen at 4 am? and so he went to his kitchen, with a mission to cook the best ramyun at 4 in the morning. 

To his dismay, he was greeted with an empty cabinet. All ramyuns were gone even the cups ones too. He blamed it on her for always coming over and eating all his ramyun.

Great. He mentally rolled his eyes and sighed. Then there's no other choice left, to the convenient store it is.

But he ain't going alone. And so he decided to hit up his best friend, his partner, his other half, his ride or die.

He quickly went on his phone to text her.

It didn't take long for her to reply. Surprised that she's still awake.

The walk from his apartment to hers wasn't long. Which is why they often hang out so much.

Considering both of them lived near their campus. Sleeping over at each other's apartment wasn't something new. They'd stay over the night and walk to campus together in the morning.

Once, Jieun even showed up to campus in Mark's hoodie. Mark was sceptical about her decision at first, but Jieun convince him that she was doing it for their so called publicity stunt.

The scene obviously caused a stir on campus. Be it, boys or girls, many were broken-hearted when they saw them walking together to campus, not to mention Jieun being in Mark's hoodie.

They were the talk of the town for the whole week. Mark grew fond of the fame and Jieun enjoyed being the centre of attention. A win-win situation.

It didn't take any longer, now they're both at the convenient store picking their ramyun of choice.

Jieun went for the good old classic nongshim shin ramyun and Mark chose Jin ramyun but in mild flavour.

Jieun teased him for his choice. Saying how he doesn't have the balls and won't go for the spicy one.

Mark snorted back saying how she's already seen his balls, in fact, multiple times.

His reply made her blush, she hit him slightly on his shoulder. Mark smiled at her reaction, he finds it cute. Their laughter filled the convenient store. It was once again, just the two of them.

And one of the staff.

"shut up marker, you're no better yourself" Jieun snorted and Mark just shook his head.

There they were again, going on bickering about some random topics. It seems to be their daily routine now. They'd meet up, dine, chit chat and fuck.

Jieun being the extrovert would constantly initiate the conversation and Mark being the good company would always know how to reply to her. Every now and then, Mark would chime in with his topics while Jieun listened to him attentively.

It didn't take long for them to break the ice between them. Not considering the fact that the first thing they did was make out and have sex in the public toilet but oh wells.

The two were sitting outside of the convenient store, where they had tables and chairs for people to dine.

"OH MY GOD! MARK LOOK" Jieun yelled as she pointed at one of the dark allies.

It was now 4 am, and it didn't help the fact that everything they see was pitch black and the lights were dim-lit.

"Jieun stop playing around, it's dark come on" Mark said, trying to drag her away.

Knowing well that Mark is a scaredy-cat Jieun ran towards into the ally, leaving him behind.

"YAH PARK JIEUN!" Mark yelled, now he was all alone. With no choice left, he ran after her into the ally only to be welcomed by soft yowling.

"look, it's a cat" Jieun smiled as she carried the cat in her arms.

The street light was dim but it was enough to see the shape of the feline. Its large glistening eyes, glowing bright yellow just like the moon. And its fur was pitch black.

It was a Bombay cat.

"Don't touch it! it's dirty!" Mark said as he judge the feline.

"That's not very nice, just because it has black fur doesn't mean they're dirty!" Jieun defended the cat. Mark tsked, "It's a stray cat Jieun, not to mention that black cats brings bad luck!" 

"why are you being so mean? they have feelings too you know?" Jieun said pissed at Mark's behaviour.

Jieun being the cat lover that she is, just had to pick up the cat and play with it or at least just for 5 minutes.

She carefully caresses its body making sure not to apply too much pressure. The cat was small in size, barely fitting in both of her palms. It must have been young or at least just a few months old.

Jieun carried it in her arms gently. Trying to find its genital area. To which she finds its penis with his testicles attached in the middle. It's a him.

And that's when she made up her mind.

"we're taking him home" Jieun without second thoughts.

She had always wanted a cat, but just never know when to get one. One of her dreams was to grow old and be a cat woman.

Not the fictional superhero, or maybe that too. But basically, a woman who loves cats. She had imagined herself growing old, sitting on a rocking chair, with tons of cats surrounding her.

It was as if God had sent him to her. A sign for her to adopt him. A move for her to complete her dreams.

"We? No no no, no cats in my apartment princess, you can bring it to yours but not mine" Mark said rejecting her idea.

Jieun ignored his comment and continued to coo the cat, rocking it in her arms as if it was a newborn baby. 

"Did you not hear what I just said?" He raised a brow.

"Seolla is allergic to cats, so we can't have it at ours," Jieun explained.

Mark looked at her trying to figure out if it was a lie.

"Please?" She begged with her doe eyes. "I'll do whatever you say! I'll buy you your vanilla frappe every day!" She continued to plead. 

Her eyes were big and shiny, almost glistened, and her lips forming a pout. A face that Mark was all so familiar with, a face that he never said no to. 

After a long series of coaxing and persuation from her, "Fine" He rolled his eyes and a sigh came out. "But you're taking care of him okay?" He said sternly and the girl jumped around in joy. 

"Thank you! thank you! thank you!" Jieun said and gave Mark a kiss on his cheek. 

Too busy with the cat, Jieun hadn't notice the smile on his face when she kiss him. 

"I'm naming him Finn, Finn the cat"

"why Finn?" Mark knitted his eyebrows.

"because it was dark, and he was all alone, he's a hero"**reference from adventure time- Finn the human is a hero from The Land of Ooo
