KILLER QUEEN

CHAPTER 6

I was born in space, I've never  felt the sun on my face or breathed real air or floated in the water. None of us have. For three generations the ark has kept  what's rest of the human race alive but now our home is dying and we are the last hope of mankind. One hundred prisoners sent on  desperate mission to the ground, each of us is here because we broke the law but on the ground there is no law. All we have to  do is survive, we will be tested by the earth, by the secrets it hides and most of all each other.

''Octavia'' Bellamy calls.

We walk over to the area where the tents are and open them.

''Octavia'' I call

We keep going until we reach Clarkes tent.

Bellamy crouches before her  '' Your up''

Normally I would say, obviously, but im to focused on finding Octavia.

Clarke crawls her way out of her tent and looks in between me and bellamy '' Yeah, knowing that hundreds of people might be dying on the ark makes it hard to sleep''

''Raven's flares will work''

'' The radio would have worked better''

Screw this '' Hey, not that this isn't important or anything but can we move along to the actual problem that we're facing right now?''

Clarke looks at me '' You really don't care if they all die up there''

I look at her blankly '' At this very moment I don't give a flying shit because we have a bigger problem that's right here, one the ground'' I point downwards.

Clarke scrunches her face in confusion '' What are you  talking about''

Bellamy now buts in '' Have you seen Octavia?''

'' No... its Octavia she probably... chasing butterflies''

''We've checked the camp, she's not here'' you could clearly see the worry on Bellamy's face.

Clarke thinks for a moment ''Okay, ill help you find her'' she starts walking and Bellamy and myself follow.

'' Lets check again'' she looks at Bellamy '' You go to the drop ship, ill check the rest of the tents'' she then looks at me ''Embry, can you do a pe-''

''Perimeter run, on it'' I quickly walk away from the pair, normally I wounld'nt take orders but this is Octavia we're talking about. I'm going to do anything I can to find her.

I done a perimeter run.... three times trying to find any clues, each time I came up with nothing.

''Alright everyone gather around and grab a weapon'' Bellamy said loudly '' My sisters been out there alone for twelve hours. Arm up, were not coming back without her''

I jog over to the group gathered around the weapons, holding my own and went to Bellamy and Clarke, both of them looked at me.

I shake my head '' Nothing, no signs of a struggle or tracks suggesting she went somewhere. If she was taken or if she went somewhere it wasn't recent nor was it by force.

Clarke nods while Bellamy clenches his jaw, obiously worrying for his sister.

'' Hey Jasper'' I turn a bit to see Clarke grab him ''You don't have to do this, you haven't left camp since we brought you back''

He looks down then back up at her, you could see the determination on his face but I could also see fear.

''Clarke... I have to do this''

Bellamy steps towards them ''We need all the people we can get'' making Clarke and Jasper look at him, Jasper nods then continues to keep walking.

Bellamy looks at Clarke '' We need a tracker''

I look at the two idiots before me '' Oh no, its not like I can track or anything''

Clarke sighs at my sarcasm while Bellamy just response '' No, I want you on full alert mode, i've seen you hunt nothing gets by you, were going to need that''

I just nod my head knowing that it is probably the best thing for me to do.

''Finn, get out here''

I look towards the tent that Finn now shares with his girlfriend Raven then to Clarke. I can easily tell shes upset.

'' Finn, we're laving'' Bellamy says impatiently

''Alright, im coming'' Finn yells out as we all start walking, me next to Bellamy, I look back and see Finn stopped Clarke. I shake my head, poor girl he's not making it easy for her.

I then turn my head  towards Bellamy who still looks worried but determined to find his sister.

''We'll find her Bellamy''

He looks at me '' How do you know that''

I smile and look ahead '' Because I will cut down anything or anyone that gets in my way''

He looks at me warily '' And why would you do that''

I stop and he does as well, I turn and look him in the eyes.

''Because she's my friend, even when she found out who I was she didn't judge me, she didn't look at me differently, she looked at me exactly the same. If there's anything that you want to believe about me believe this, when I find her and I will I will protect her like she's my own sister''

He shakes his head in disbelief at my words '' Why''

I let out a little smile '' Because she reminds me of someone ''

he lets out a sigh and nods his head '' I may not like all the secrets your hinding......but i can tell all you want to do is keep her safe''

I nod my head in appreciation.

He suddenly continues '' So, when she's back in camp and I can't watch over her you better be''

I smile a little and nod again.

Though our moment was suddenly over when someone yelled out.

''Guys, guys, come here, what is that''

''Woow''

'' Its so bright''

''You see that''

Me and Bellamy look at eachother confused then walk over to the group to see whats going on. When we got there I noticed everyone looking up.

As soon as I look up I knew what it was and apparently I wasn't the only one.

'' They didn't work, they didn't see the flares'' Raven barely says.

Bellamy  looks at her '' the meteor shower tells you that''

I shake my head ''Its not a meteor shower its a funeral''

Clarke then speeks '' Hundreds of bodies being returned to the earth from the ark, this is what it looks like from the other side, they didnt get our message'' she finishes.

Raven suddenly launches towards Bellamy '' This is all because of you''

Clarke and Finn go to grab her but miss so I quickly shot out my hand and hit her shoulder with enough force to push her back and almost make her fall back, if it wasn't for Finn catching her.

Bellamy steps forward '' I helped you find the radio''

'' Yeah after you jacked it from my pod and trashed it''

Clarke tries to hold her back ''Yeah, he knows.. now he has to live with it''

I sigh in annoyance  ''Great, we solved that can we leave now'' I say in a tone that left no room for discussion.

Bellamy looks at me then to Finn,Clarke and Raven ''All I know is that my sister is out there and im going to find her'' He looks at Finn '' You coming or what''

Finn nods his head and lets go of Raven.

'' Then what are we waiting for, move out!''

With those final words I start to follow Bellamy and the rest of the group.

'' Hey, over here'' Someone yells out.

Everyone rushes over to the boy while I stay where I am, looking out into the forest. I know there's a grounder out there, I can occasionally hear the small thud of a foot but I know that the grounder is just a scout because he's kept his distance the whole time.

''What is it''

''Right there,you see it is that Octavia's''

''Rope''

I look away from the forest and walk over to where Bellemy is tying rope to a tree stump so he can go down the steep hill.

'' What are you doing'' Finn asked.

''I need the rope to get back up''

I scoff and walk to the edge then start to make my way down but not without hearing Bellamy huff at my actions.

When I make it down I pull the small piece of fabric off the tree and study it.

Feeling Bellamy come up behind me I say '' Its hers'' and pass him the fabric.

I look around the area then stop when I see a dark liquid on a rock, I  dip my fingers into it then rub them together.

Bellamy kneels down next to me ''Blood?''

I stand and continue to look around '' Its fresh''

He stands next to me '' What are you thinking?''

I look back at the hill and notice some marking in the dirt then back to the rock.

''She tripped  from up there, then she hit her head, most likely knocked her self out'' I tilt my head and follow the marks. I stop when I notice footprints that didn't belong to Octavia.

''Someone else was here'' Bellamy said

Finn kneels down '' The prints are deeper going that way''

''He was carrying her'' I say

''if they took her she's alive like when they took me'' Jasper said

We all look in the direction of the footprints and quickly follow them.

******

Well the grounders are a creative bunch aren't they.

I'm standing in front of either an entrance or a graveyard.

Decaying bodies hung up on sticks around the area though most were forming a path.

Finn breaks the silence ''I don speak grounder but im pretty sure this means keep out''

''Lets get out of here''

'' Its crazy ''

''I'm out of here''

''Go back if you want... my sister, my responsibility'' Bellamy whispers the last part then starts to walking through the bodies.

'' I'd walk in hell to find her'' Jasper say then starts walking.

Finn looks at him ''I think we just did''

Our once small group got even smaller as only some followed Bellamy, me included.

Finn huffs '' I got nothing''

We have been looking all night and the sun is now shinning above our heads.

I look at Bellamy ''I'm  going to go look up ahead, see if I can find anything''

He just givs a slight nod.

''We've lost her trail'' I hear Finn

''Keep looking''

I walk ahead away from the group then look around me and try to spot any grounders, I know there out there. I look to my right and see a very big tree and immediately walk over to it and start to climb it, this whole area is polluted with trees so it makes it easier to get from one tree to the next.

I'm suddenly hit with an idea.

I use trees because it's an advantage, no one thinks to look up. A crooked smirk appears on my face and I look back toward Bellamy and the group then I look above them.

There, a grounder who's tied to the tree above them. I watch as he drops down and grabs the  dark guy who was at the back of our group. I quickly start swinging and jumping from tree to tree making sure I don't make any noise while I go.

'' Wandering around aimlessly isn't going to find your sister we should back track'' I hear Finn

'' I'm no going back'' Bellamy agures

'' Hey where's John''

By their silence I can tell their all looking around but I don't focus on that I keep making my way towards the grounder holding the boy I now know as John.

'' I just saw him a second ago''

'' Spread out, he counld have gotten that far''

Just as Bellamy said that I was coming up behind the grounder and I saw the glint of a silver blade and then watch John drop. I know he just killed him.

I quickly pounce on the grounders back making both of us propel through the air and land next to John's dead body. As soon as we land I grab his shoulder and spin him so he's on his back then like lightning grab my small dagger from my belt and bring it right down into his chest. I watch as his eyes go dull and his body limp. I look towards the group who look completely shocked at what just happened.

I stand '' Their using the trees''

It was silent for a moment but then the sound of branches braking makes its way to everyones ears.

'' We shouldn't have crossed the boundery''

'' Now can we go back''

'' There'' Jasper points to a grounder about thirty metres away.

'' Another one ''

I look around and see six maybe seven grounders around us.

''We should run'' Finn says quietly

'' you better hope you can run fast'' I say

We all look at eachother then to Bellamy who gives a quick nod making us all start running with the grounders not far behind.

Bellamy, Finn and I are running ahead of the others, me just infront of Bellamy and Finn. I notice something coming from the side of us and quickly reconise it as a grounder. He jumps from the side of me but I'm already prepared for it and just as he's about to hit me I spin and stab his chest making him drop then keep running next to Bellamy and Finn, who give me side glances.

'' I don't know about anyone else but im happy your here''

I laugh aloud at Finns words and continue dodging fallen trees.

'' What are we going to do they keep cutting us off''

'' Just keep running''

'' I cant run much longer'' Jasper yells from behind everyone.

'' I'm not stopping for him''

'' I'm sick of running anyway'' Bellamy says and stops running causing me and Finn to stop too.

'' What are you doing'' Finn say to him

'' They know where she is'' Bellamy answers

We all stop for a minute and look around at the grounders who are closing in. I put my dagger in my belt and grab my bow off of my shoulder.

'' Diggs, where are you'' I turn and see a girl run off.

'' Roma'' Bellamy calls after her then starts to follow making everyone follow him but I stay where I am.

I watch as five  grounders follow Bellamy and the others. Then the other  grounder  starts to run up to me, weapon raised. I look at him laughing  then raise my bow and not even a second later an arrow sores through the air then hits the grounder right between the eyes. I smirk as I watch him drop.

'' Aahhhhh''

I look towards the sound of the scream and shot forward taking off in a full sprint. I come to a quick stop when I see Bellamy, Jasper and Finn.

'' They were leading us here, its the only direction we could run in'' Jasper says

I look past them to see a brown hair boys chest impaled with several pointed branches.

I walk closer '' Very creative'' I mumble

I look towards Bellamy '' Well, their one down I took him out''

Bellamy nods while Finn starts looking around '' Where'd they go''

Bellamy thinks for a moment '' After Roma''

We then hear a faint shout and start to run to the direction of it though I  sprint past the others. just as I caught sight of Roma I see a large spear fly through the air at her. It hits her right in the chest with such force that is pushes her back into a tree but I don't stop running. The grouder that just threw the spear pulls out a knife running towards me and throws the knife but I saw it coming. I swing my bow and knock the knife aside and in a fluent motion keep swinging my bow up onto my shoulder and pull out my dagger. He's now right infront of me and swings another knife threw the air but I duck and roll to the side while also kicking his legs out from underneath him making him fall forward. I quickly jump on his back and take a fist full of his hair and pull it back so I can bring my dagger across his throat.

I stand up looking down at my arms seeing blood covering them.

I huff shaking my head '' Just great''

'' There she is, Roma''

I hear a whisper and open my eyes. I look up from my spot on the forest floor where I am leaning against a tree and see Bellamy, Finn, Jasper and another girl and boy that I don't know the names of.

'' She's dead'' I say making them jump.

I stand and walk up to them '' I got the one who did it'' I gesture to the dead grounder a few metres away who in covered in blood.

'' Their playing with us'' Finn breathes out.

Bellamy closes Roma's eyes '' She only came because of me''

'' They can kill us whenever they want'' Finn realises.

'' Then they should get it over with!'' Jasper yells '' Come on!''

Bellamy and Finn rush to him to shut him up.

''We know your out there, come on!'' Jasper continues yelling

I look  around and notice the groundes have come out of hiding and are running towards us.

'' Their coming'' The girl yells

We all stand in a circle, weapons raised.

Suddenly a horn go's off causing the grounders to stop running and look around then quickly run off.

'' Their leaving'' Bellamy states.

'' Way to state the obvious'' I say blankly at him which earns me a glare.

'' That horn'' Jasper starts '' What does it mean?''

Finn jumps in ''Acid fog'' He starts to pull out a tarp from his bag

''We have to run '' The girls says worriedly

He shakes his head at her '' There's no time''

I huff.

I'm stuck under a tarp next to Bellamy hoping not to die from acid fog....that has not even come yet.

'' How long are we suppose to wait'' Jasper whispers

'' Will this even work'' The girl who's  name I found out  is Monroe

'' We'll find out'' Finn says to her

Its quiet for a second ''No we wont'' Bellamy stick his head outside of the tarp.

''Thank god'' I mutter then emerge fro  the tarp '' There's no fog''

'' Maybe it was a false alarm'' Bellamy says standing up '' There coming back'' he says as he spots a grounder running alone.

''I think he's alone'' Jasper says as we loose sight of him.

Monroe breathe out '' Now can we run''

'' He doesn't see us, I'm going after him'' Bellamy says

''And then what, kill him'' Finn says back

Bellamy shakes his head ''No, catch him, make him tell me were Octavia is... then kill him''

With that he starts to follow the grounder.

Jasper looks at Finn '' How do we know he's not leading us into  trap''

I smile at him and start walking after bellamy ''We don't'' 

*******

We all hide behind bushes as we watch the grounder go down into a hole near a big boulder. It must be an underground cave like Talons.

'' I'm going in, everyone except Embry follow me'' he looks at everyone then to me '' You, stay up here and guard the entrance''

I give a sharp nod and follow them towards the hole, watching them jump in one by one till I was alone staring out at the forest but also listening to the noises in the cave.

After a minute shuffleing comes from the hole and I look down into it to see Monroe. I look at her expectantly.

'' They found her'' She said trying to get up.

I reach down and grab her wrist and pull her from the hole.

She looks at me amazed  '' Your strong''

I don't respond, just look back out at the forest. We stand for a moment in silence till I hear loud voices and banging.

I look to Monroe ''Stay here''

Then jump down into the hole and through the passage and around the corner. I see Finn on the floor with Octavia leaning over him then Bellamy fighting the grounder. The grounder pushes Bellamy to the ground and holds a spear to his throat while a desperate Bellamy is pushing against the spear.

'' Stop that's my brother'' Octavia yells

I rush forward and tackle the grounder with all my streangh making us fly through the air away from the others. I straddle him and bring my knife to his throat ready to slash it but then am halted by the familiar face.

'' Lincoln?'' I whisper

He looks at me then to the others I look at them too seeing Jasper crowd Finn and Octavia checking Bellamy.

I look back at Lincoln ''Sorry but I have to make this look real''

Knowing what I meant he nods, I bring down the hilt of my dagger knocking him out. I stand and look down at him then walk over to the others who are all gathered around Finn.

''Move!'' Making them move out of my way instantly.

I look over Finn seeing the hilt of a blade sticking out of the rib area. Jasper reached forward for the hilt but I quickly grabbed his wrist.

''No, because of the placing its probably already hit something we need to leave it in for now taking it out could do more harm''

''What do we do then?''

Bellamy buts in ''We need to take him to Clarke''

*******

''Clarke'' Jasper shouts as we walk into camp

''We need Clarke'' Bellamy yell

Jasper looks at some guy '' Get Clarke now''

'' Hey, im here'' Clarke emergies through te crown '' I'm here, whats up''

Just as she said that Bellamy comes through the gate  with a deathly pale Finn.

'' Finn'' she breathed out '' Finn, oh my god'' she checks his pulse '' He's alive''

Jasper looks her ''Embry wouldn't let me take the knife out''

She looks at me then back to him '' No, that was a good call. Get him in the drop ship now, go!''

I watch as four guy come up and take Finn to the drop ship while Bellamy, Clarke, Raven and myself follow.

''Clarke, can you say him'' Raven ask desperately stopping Clarke,  I stop aswell

''N-no, not me I need my mother, I need to talk to her'' Clarke barely makes out

'' There's still no radio'' Raven says frustrated

''Raven fix it!,go!'' She says and pushes Raven

Octavia then hobbles over and Clarke stops her '' Hey, are you okay''

''yeah, just go'' Octavia say pointing towards the way Finn was take making Clarke rush off.

I watch as Octavia then turns to go back outside of the gate but only to be stopped by Bellamy.

''Hey, hey, why were you defending him?''

''Because'' she breathes out '' He saved my life. That spear hat hit Roma that was-''

He cuts her off ''No, your wrong. I saved your life...for all you know he was keeping you alive as bait for one of their traps''

'' No, I don't think so''

''You don't think O, that's the problem. They killed three of our people today and if you had let me killed him when I had the chance Finn wouldn't be in there dying-''

Octavia now cuts him off ''Okay stop, stop blaming me for your mistakes'' She yells at him '' What happen to Finn was not my fault. I wanted to leave so if Finn dies in there that's on you....Everything that's gone wrong is because of you... You got me locked up on the ark, you wanted me to go to that stupid dance, you got mum killed'' Octavia  snarls.

He paused for a moment ''Me..mum was floated for having you, she dead because your alive.. that was her choice. I didn't have a choice. My life ended the day you were born''

A deathly silence passes between them before Octavia shakes her head and trys leaves through the gate but Bellamy grabs her.

'' Where do you think your going''

'' You cant keep me locked up in here forever'' She pulls free her arm and walks back into camp.

Bellamy walks over to the gate ready to close it ''Get inside'' he says to a boy '' Go!''

The boy rushes in. I walk up to Bellamy and see he's lookin up at the sky. I look up and stare for a moment watching the lightning strike and listening to the thunder boom through the sky.

'' A storms coming''

I look at bellamy and he looks back at me then we both look back at the sky knowing that I mean it in more ways then one.
