Chapter 14

      Chloe felt Nathaniel close the space in between them on the last move, and he leaned in, his hands on Chloe's waist. Chloe's face flushed as he got closer and closer. Was he going to make a move? If he did, was Chloe ready?

   It was at that moment that the door to the gym burst open. Nathaniel and Chloe jumped apart to see Dark Cupid. Chloe felt distressed as she realized that she had caused the pain in Kim that got him akumatized. Chloe had to shake off her prick of guilt, and ran off to transform.

"Pollen, Buzz On!" Chloe exclaimed once she got in a safe place. Chloe reveled in the feeling of transforming as she did a lot. At this point, it was almost inevitable that she would transform and stay there for a moment enjoying the feeling of power and confidence that she couldn't have as Chloe.

Queen Bee, however, was a totally different story. Queen Bee always had a solution. Queen Bee was kind, smart and quick on her feet. Queen Bee was beautiful. Queen Bee was nothing like Chloe.

And that's why Chloe prayed that a akuma would come sometimes. She needed to transform and be herself, ripping off the facade that she had so easily grown with her civilian form.

But today was not a day to stand there. This was her fault, and she needed to fix it. She felt so bad. Kim had always had a thing for her, but she couldn't feel for him like he did her. She had tried, and it had failed.

The words she had spoken to him once....

"I'm erasing myself from your narrative" and then leaving him alone. Queen Bee wanted to cry thinking about it. She couldn't even remember why she had said it. Chloe needed to fix things, and Queen Bee would empower her to do it.

Queen Bee ran out of the bathroom, and found she couldn't find Dark Cupid. She searched the whole school, he just wasn't there. Queen Bee left the school, and had just begun to search nearby when she heard a voice. And what made her freeze was that it sounded like Nathaniel.

Queen Bee ran towards the sound, adrenaline keeping her moving at a fast pace. When she got there, Dark Cupid was wrestling with Nathaniel, and Nath was losing. Queen Bee let out a gasp before she could stop herself. Dark Cupid turned to her and smirked.

"Ah, so the Bee comes to join! What, defending your little friend?" Dark Cupid taunted. Queen Bee gritted her teeth.

"Leave. Him. Alone." She snapped. Dark Cupid laughed, and lunged at her. Queen Bee did a double back flip, and used her spinney-top to grab Dark Cupid's arm. He swerved, and aimed his bow at Nathaniel, who had just begun to leave.

"NO!" Queen Bee screamed. She couldn't watch Nathaniel get shot with the arrow. She jumped in front of him, and took the blow for him. It hurt a lot. Queen Bee fell midair, and laid on the ground there for a moment. Dark thoughts were overwhelming her.

"Queen Bee!" Voices that sounded distinctly like Nathaniel and Ladybug sounded in Queen Bee's ears.

Her trembling lips now black, and eyes magenta, Queen Bee got up to face them. Dark Cupid stood beside her, smirking, success making him cocky.

Queen Bee moved to get her weapon when she was attacked by Nathaniel throwing himself on her, and she fell on the ground again.

Nathaniel kissed her, Ladybug half smiling in the background of Queen Bee's vision.
