telling the truth
14:02, 23 December 2024The first 2 hours seemed to fly by. The team had gotten a lead on a location but it was all a set up cause all they found was Clarissa empty diaper bag with a cell phone inside.
The cell phone rang and amanda answered it. "Hello?!"
"Ah detective rollins we speak again. You miss me?" He said in a taunting tone.
"We are going to find you lewis and you better have not hurt a hair on Clarissa head you understand me?!" Amanda yelled back.
"Oh well you see thats up to olivia. I. Giving her one more hour to tell the truth or I promise her and all of you will never see this little sweetie ever again." He said as Clarissa was crying again in the background "say by to aunt Mandy Clarissa." He taunted yet again before hanging up before they could get a trace.

As soon as the squad arrived back at the precinct they told Murphy and olivia about lewis threat.
Olivia shook her head "immediately calling the press conference now. I don't care what happens to me but I will not let my daughter suffer for my mistakes."
Murphy tried to talk her out of it but it didn't work. She went and dressed in her formal police uniform and prepared to tell the truth about what happened that day in the beach house. She stood in front of her locker looking at herself in the mirror as she took a breath and touched a picture of Clarissa on a swing at the park that hung in her locker "I'm gonna find you my love no matter what." She said to herself.
She made her way to the squad room where the cameras were set up and she stood behind a podium taking one last calming breath before she began to speak. "My name is sergeant Olivia Benson, NYPD, and on the 6th of January of this year I testified in the New York state supreme court at the trial of William Lewis. And on that day, under oath, I swore that, when I beat him with a metal bar, he had broken free of his handcuffs. And I only used the force necessary to subdue him. That was a lie. The truth is, when I beat Mr. Lewis, fracturing his skull, his orbital socket, shattering his kneecap, breaking multiple ribs, and causing permanent damage, he was handcuffed. He and I were alone, he offered no resistance, and I was not in danger." She kept her composure the best she could as she continued "The assault was nothing less than police brutality and excessive force. I apologize for the inhumanity of my actions and for my perjury. Since William Lewis was convicted based on my testimony, I request that D.A. Rafael Barba inform the judiciary committee of my actions and take appropriate steps to rectify the unjust conviction of Mr. Lewis. I make this statement of my own volition, under no duress, under no coercion, and under no expectation that there be a quid pro quo from Mr. Lewis. I'm sorry that I didn't come forward earlier. Thank you."
As the cameras cut off she felt her tears escape as she rushed back to the cribs as she began to hyperventilate. She knew what she just said could be the end of her career or worse but she had to do this for Clarissa.

A couple more hours went by with no word or contact from lewis and olivia began to wonder if Murphy was right. Maybe lewis would kill her daughter either way.
"Benson you need to go home and rest." Murphy said.
"No not until I hear from him." She said pacing the floor and biting her nails. "Maybe you were right Maybe it didn't matter."
"You can't think that way. You have to keep hope but I'm giving you an order to go home and get some rest. These two agents will take you to get food and then get you home." He commanded.
She was too exhausted to fight him so she grabbed her jacket and left frustrated.
The agents took her to a restaurant that wasn't too busy. She rolled her eyes as she waited for food and sat through the two agents flirting with each other. She finally stood and said "I need to use the bathroom."
The female agent checked the bathroom and then allowed olivia in standing by the sink. Olivia looked at the woman and sighed "can I get some privacy?"
"Yeah I'll be right outside." She said and left the bathroom.
Olivia was leaning against the bathroom stall taking a breath as her phone buzzed with a text from an unknown number. It was William text her to meet him and that he would text the directions but to come alone or Clarissa would suffer. He then sent a picture of Clarissa in her car seat with a gun near her. Olivia then texted back "I'm on my way."
She peeked her head out the door and seen the agent wasn't there so she looked around the corner and seen they were too busy flirting to pay attention so she slipped out the back door and up an alley pulling a man from a car and showing her badge "police business I have to take your car." She got in quickly before he could fight her and she drove off following the directions that william began to send her.
