"I'm alright. I'm calling because... Have you heard from Joe?" He asked a bit frantically.

"No, what's wrong?!"

"Minx..." Graham breathed wearily, "He's gotten in a car crash."

"What?!"

"He's been rushed to the hospital in the emergency room."

"When did this happen?" I said, trying my best not to cry.

"Only just. Police said a car sped through a red light and slammed right into him, hitting the drivers' side."

"Oh my God," I cried.

"Minx, he'll be okay. You need to stay calm so you can go down to the hospital, okay, love?"

"Yeah, okay," I sniffled.

"Be safe now, yeah?" Graham said sympathetically.

"Of course. Thank you for calling me."

I buckled Noah in the baby carrier, grabbed my phone and keys and the baby bag and quickly went down to my car.

"Shh, baby," I hummed as I drove to the hospital.

Noah cried the whole way there. Once arriving, I rushed inside and was directed to where Joe would be.

"I'm sorry darling, family only," A receptionist told me as I asked to know where Joe's room was.

"I am family. This is his son," I said, rudely.

"Down the hall, third door on the right."

I tried to quiet Noah as I rushed down the hallway. Right as I was about to enter the room, the door opened and a nurse walked out.

"Sorry, miss," A nurse said blocking the door.

"No! What's happened?!" I cried.

"Come in here, I'll explain everything," The nurse nodded.

I nodded, following the nurse into a different room.

"Go ahead and have a seat. Are you Joe's sister?"

"Oh, no! His fiancé, this is our son," I nodded, lifting Noah out of the baby carrier so he stopped crying.

"How sweet. But anyway, Joe, as you know, was involved in a car accident. He's suffered a minor hit on his head and then when the ambulance arrived, his leg was stuck between the dashboard and side of the car. At first, paramedics were afraid the only solution would be to amputate his leg, however they managed to get him out but he's suffered a fracture on his ankle, so he will need a cast. We are keeping him awake right now in case of a concussion."

"Can I see him?" I asked, wiping a tear off my cheek.

"Yes, but I'm warning you. He has some bruises and may not totally understand what is happening, and quite possibly may not recognise you, due to some of the pain medication we've given him. However, as the medication wears off later, everything will come back to him," She nodded.

"Okay," I sniffled, "Can I take Noah in with me, please?"

"Yes, darling," She nodded.

I carried Noah and the baby bag into the room and the nurse helped me by carrying the baby carrier and placing it in Joe's room as I went in there.

"Joe," I breathed, rushing over to the bed.

"Minx?" Joe asked.

"Mhm, baby," I cried, pushing his hair out of his face.

"I'm okay," He said, his voice sounding scratchy.

"Noah's here," I said, trying not to cry.

"Who?" Joe questioned.

"Noah, our baby," I assured him.

"No, no. I don't have a... No," Joe shook his head.

My eyes stung from tears and I could feel my throat tightening as I tried not to cry.

"No, Joe," I said quietly, "Our son," I nodded.

"Minx, we don't have a son!" Joe said.

I knew it was the medicine, but having him deny Noah simply made me sad.

"Miss, I know it's hard because he doesn't understand, but it'll be okay," Another nurse nodded.

"I do understand," Joe said angrily.

"I know, Joe. We need you to keep calm, alright?" The nurse smiled calmly.

"I'm going to step outside really quick," I announced quietly.

I carried Noah and stepped outside of the room to call my mum.

"Hello Minx!"

"Mum, can you come down to the hospital? Joe's been in a car crash and the medicine that he's been given makes him not remember some things and he doesn't remember Noah right now."

"Is he alright?!" My mum asked.

"Nurses say he'll be okay. But I need you to come and take Noah for right now, please?"

"Of course. I'm on my way right now, darling."

"Thank you."

Only about ten minutes later, my mum came and picked up Noah.

"I haven't any bottles in the bag, but there's a small container of formula in there if he gets hungry," I suggested.

"He'll be fine. Take care of Joe, I'll take care of Noah."

"Thank you."

My mum took Noah and left, leaving me alone with Joe.

"Minxie," Joe breathed.

"Hi," I smiled.

Joe held my hand and rested his eyes. I turned to the nurse to ask her a question.

"When will his medicine wear off?"

"In a few hours."

"Okay," I nodded, "How do you feel?" I asked Joe quietly.

"Sore. I can't remember what happened though?"

"You got in car accident," I smiled softly.

"I'm sorry, baby," Joe apologised.

"Don't be," I shook my head.

A nurse came to monitor Joe's vitals and put fluids in his IV.

"This should help his medicine wear off faster," She nodded.

"Okay," I nodded.

I sat next to Joe's bed for a while. Nurses came and went to check his vitals. Joe couldn't go to sleep because fear of a concussion, so he talked with me for a while, not making much sense of the conversation because of the intense pain medication.

"Minx, you're f.ucking hot," Joe mumbled.

"Oh my God. Joe," I laughed lightly.

"What?"

"You don't make any sense right now, but it's okay," I laughed lightly, holding his hand.

"My leg hurts," He groaned.

"Because you've hurt it," I shook my head.

"I'm hungry."

"Joe, we can get you a small snack. Or Minx can go down to the cafeteria and get you something?" The nurse smiled.

"I can go and get him something. Is there anything he's not allowed to eat?"

"He should be fine. Just keep it light," She nodded.

I gave Joe a kiss on the forehead before going down to the cafeteria. I found something small and paid for it before heading back up to Joe's room.

"Minx, I'm sorry," Joe apologised again once I got back to the room.

"Joe, as long as you are okay, it'll be fine," I nodded.

Joe ate the sandwich I had gotten for him and rested.

I still couldn't get the idea of Joe not remembering Noah out of my head and had to ask him again.

"My mum took Noah," I casually mentioned.

"That's good," He nodded, "How was he today?"

"Great," I smiled happily.

"Hm, what's wrong?"

"You remember Noah," I quietly cheered.

"Of course," Joe questioned.

"Your medicine wore off," I smiled.

"I can tell. My leg f.ucking hurts," He groaned.

"I love you," I smiled.

"Mm, I love you too," Joe said quietly.

"Alright Joseph. So as you can see, we've put a cast on your leg for your ankle fracture. Your medication mostly has worn off, but I'll have the nurses take some blood-work to make sure it's out of your system before we think about releasing you. Then I will want to examine your bruises again before we release you, as well," The doctor said as he came into the room.

"Okay," Joe nodded.

"Then you can go home with your beautiful wife and child," He smiled confidently.

"Oh! Well... Yeah," Joe shrugged, smiling.

I smiled, giving Joe a small kiss on the cheek.

"Almost," Joe whispered, referring to me being his wife.

"Mhm," I smiled happily.

"Are you feeling a bit better?"

"Yeah," Joe nodded, "Just a bit sore."

I nodded.

"I'm so sorry Minxie," Joe apologised.

"We'll be fine," I assured him.

I hate seeing him like this. Although he says he's okay, his face has a bruise on it. Bags under his eyes and bruises scattered across his body. His hair was also messy and he has a small cut across his eyebrow and a small one on his lip. I mean, if he wasn't was in pain, I'd say he looked quite hot, like a bad boy. So, I guess I just hate seeing him in pain. Oh my God. I could feel a blush spreading across my cheeks.

"What's up?" Joe smirked.

"Nothing," I shook my head.

"Minx," Joe warned.

"Don't worry about it," I assured him.

"Alright baby," Joe nodded.
