Chapter 8

Athanasia p. O. V.

On our way  home cabel got a call and panicked after he was  done with talking ..

"what happen caby ..?"  lucas asked in a bored tone.. I think  He was tired from everything happened today..

"lu.. We got a problem dude.. Gabriel  grandpa  and rosy granny  are coming.."

he said which made lucas jerk up from his lethargic position.

"what the.. Why..?" he asked a bit shocked and more  irritated.

"why else do you think other than  to  spy on us..?"cabel said and sighed.

"what do we do now..?" lucas  asked  leaning back on his seat going back to his former position.

"is something wrong..?" I  asked looking at lucas cause why they are panicking so much..?

"yeah everything is gonna be wrong.. Two old guys are coming.. I  lived with them  back in NY .. They must be sent here by that damn old man.. Haah.. Why the fuck he is being so annoying..? "

lucas said irritated. From what I know lucas was always calm and collected but  he got so irritated whenever it's about his past.

" so your former boss wants to see if what you said back then was true or not..? then isn't the problem already solved.. You have her now. "helly said pointing at me 

" it won't end with them checking whether I really have a  girlfriend or not helena.. "

lucas said  and sighed.

" then.? " I asked..

" it's.. They are gonna stay with us  and rosy  aunty  is so nosy..  And you know right.. their relationship setup  is living together not dating.. So it would be uncomfortable for athy.." cabel said in a worried  tone.

" they are gonna stay with us..?" I asked a bit shocked.. How I can't be..?  

"that.. Don't worry I will convince them somehow and sent them back.." lucas said with a sorry face. I  just nodded back  a yes.

When we  reached our  home.. We saw a BMW car and everyone in the neighbourhood is peeking at the foreigner couple standing in front of my house.

Oh  God..now I have to answer to  everything  these neighbourhood aunties gonna  ask.. They are good people  but a bit  nosy..

The four of us  sighed  in unison .. I sighed thinking about them prying  me to feed their curiousity .. But I don't know about others.. as soon as they saw us .. Lucas first get off the car and  we  followed him .

" hii.. grandpa and  granny ... Welcome.. Why didn't you inform me in advance..?" lucas asked.

Wow..!! Look at his business smile.. So perfect. No wonder  he found  out whenever I fake smile.. I should learn from him..

" hey what are they taking about..?" 

helena whispered to me .. Helena know English but their accent it too fast so she might find it difficult to understand.. After all most of the Koreans find  English hard ...i used to live in Newyork until I was ten so I am not  that bothered by it  .

"lucas is trying his best to convince them to  stay on the hotel but they are not giving in.. It's like they were   fighting without actually  fighting.." I  whispered back.. And she nodded a yes.

I mean they are more professional than lucas.. I think they were  already determined to stay here.. What more can we do..?  You have to give up lucas.. As I was drowned in my own thoughts suddenly their attention turned towards me..

" so which one is your girlfriend..?"

That granny  asked.. Lucas looked like he is gonna faint.. Even though he talks well, He can't  do that for more than ten minutes.. Lucas suddenly pulled me towards him by my  waist..

Haah.. This jerk ... I know we have to act like lovers but I got flustered by his sudden pull .. I have to be calm... Yeah.. Now I have to be as  natural as possible.. Why this grandma is staring at me like I am some sort of weird creature..? 

"oh my..!! Such a beautiful girl.!! No wonder you came all the way here.. Nice to meet you young lady.. I am rosaline  Fernandez.. This is my husband Gabriel Fernandez..". She said and smiled..

" it's my pleasure meeting you Mr & Mrs. Fernández.. I am Athanasia de Alger obelia"

She looked suddenly so happy for no reason and the old couple smiled looking at each other.. I turned to look at  lucas who is staring at me  surprised.

What..?  I asked him by raising one  of  my eyebrows .. He leaned  closer so close that I felt his breath on my ears..

" I dont know if I  should be happy or sad about this.." he whispered..

"huh.. About what..?" I whispered back to him.. Seriously this guy have to explain things fully. He always talk only  half of  the thing..

" you have  accent as perfect as   people living in Newyork you know.. These guys  love people who have rich accent like you.." lucas whispered  back and I sighed...

"I am sorry I don't know.. You didn't told me you are from Newyork.. And we never talked in English.. There is no way I know "

" I also don't know you lived there.. Haah let's leave it.." he said and the couple stared at  us with wide smile..

" let's get inside.. Please come this way.." I said  and took  them  inside parting away from lucas's hold.. He stared  at me confused.. But followed me.. Helena said bye and went back to her house.. I think she have to explain thing to her mom before anyone else.

When we get inside they Sat on the couch and looked around..suddenly lucas  whispered to me  from the  back which  got me  startled 

" hey  why did you let them  inside..? It's already hard enough talking to them on  outside."

he whispered in my  ear while smiling at the old couple who are busy  talking with cabel.

" then what to do..? We can't let them stand  outside forever.. They seems to be determined to  stay here.. Let's just give up.. If you try so hard that also will  look suspicious don't you think..?

I asked and he sighed..

" baby.. I think you forgot an important point...OK fine .. Just remember you are the one who let them inside.. so you have to take responsibility for everything hereafter OK..?" he said in a blank tone .

Take responsibility for what..? Why he sounds so worried.?  Anyways  like he said I already let them in..so..

" yeah yeah I will.. Now let's prepare the room for them  come.. "

I dragged him with me to the room downstairs and we cleared it for them to stay.. Cabel and lucas helped them settle on the room Mrs. Rosy asked me to call her grandma.. And so I did..

She told me they are here for vacation.. And they will stay for two weeks.. So I have to act lovey  dovey with lucas for fourteen days.. Now I kinda regret  letting them stay.. Haah.. I sighed as we set the table for lunch helly and aunty  helped me prepare lunch..

I explained the dishes to  them and  thank goodness  they enjoyed the lunch.. Grandpa said he loves Korean food.. They went out for a walk in the evening  along the shore...and that's when lucas told me the real reason for his hesitation..I am doomed..!! This jerk.. If  he didn't explain things fully from now on I am gonna  break his head into two..

" see.. This is why I told you I will take care of it.. Who is the one took responsibility..? " he said and I glared at him.

" when did you tell me..? that's the problem.. You never finish things and left them hanging.. How can I know everything on my own.. So we have to sleep in the same room now..? "

I asked and he nodded his head slowly leaving a big  sigh..  I totally forgot the reason behind their words.. Living together.. Yeah we have to sleep together in the  same room... For them to believe.. I am  the one who have to sigh.. Why are you doing it idiot..?  I stared at him for a while..

" then which room..? " I asked and he looked up at me surprised..

" what..? Are you OK with it..? "he asked in a doubtful tone..

" it's not important if I am Ok or not..  We can't do anything about it now right..?  Let's just do it.. "I said standing up..

" then lucas will sleep on yours. "cabel said making the two of us turn towards him

" yeah.. Lucas room is particularly not bedroom.. You can't sleep there athy.. You may get startled at dark by  the systems  and the  amount of wires dangling everywhere   so you stay in your room he will come to yours.. "he said and lucas slowly nodded his head.

" is that okay..? " he asked scratching his nape.

" yeah OK then.. " I said as I walked towards my room..

I cleared my drying stand where I usually dry my lingeries.. Now where should I dry them..? I put them on my closet. He knocked on the door and when I opened he came inside with his things..

Lucas. P. O. V.

She opened the door and I got inside... I already feel nervous.. I was standing inside not knowing  what to do  but she took my bag  and started arranging my clothes on her closet..

"wait..  I Will do them.." I said stopping her but she slightly smiled.

" it's ok then let's do it together.. We have to set everything before they came back."

she said and we ended up arranging my things on her room..  Together.. Strangely I got comfortable in her room in just ten minutes.. When we finished we both flopped  on the bed tired..

" I am really surprised  you know... Why are you so caresless  like this..? "

I asked as I turned my head towards her. She glared at me... Pfft.. Even her glare  is cute.. Yeah she told me say the full sentence but habits can't be changed in a day you know...

" you told me to sleep in your room... What if I do something to you.. Even though we are dating its just for  a show right..? Aren't you too careless..?"

I asked and she smiled.. This girl.. always smiling..

" pfft... What are you saying..? Of course I won't just casually let anyone inside my bedroom.. I did it  because  it's you.. "

she said and smiled.. The emotion I felt at that time I don't know what it was.. Whether I was surprised that she have this much trust on  me ... Or happy... Or what the hell  it was.. I don't know.. Why she always believes in me..? When even I don't believe in myself..? Why she is always making me feel strange inside..? While I was in my own train of thoughts... It looked like she  understood  my reaction

" I am now confused who is the girl in this  room ..?  You or me..? I know you won't do anything.. So stop squeezing your brain.." she said as her hand caressed my temple and I relaxed from frown.

" you always frown when you think deeply you know..."

she said and smiled... Suddenly I wanted to tease her.. I stood up and held my hand out to her.. She stared at me confused but hold my hand and got up and I pulled her towards me... I just pulled a little but she came all the way  towards me.. I don't expected her to be so light.. Her face hitted my shoulder and she looked up at me caressing her nose which was red from hitting me pouting...pfft I wanted to squish her cute cheeks..

"why did you.."  athy stopped when lucas leaned forwards with a smirk..

" why you say.. You are so confident that I won't do anything to you right..? But What  if  I really do  something..?"

he asked  in low voice his face so close to hers  that their nose almost touched..

" wh.. What something..?" athy stuttered her face flushed red.. Lucas was enjoying the situation so smirk never left his lips.. When he was about  to say something thier room door got opened with a loud thud they turned to see  rosy granny standing there surprised

" I am sorry to disturb your lovely time. But lucas help grandpa. He got stuck outside.."she said and lucas let go off athy's hand  and walked outside..

" I am sorry dear.. "she said but athy smiled..

" no grandma. It's ok .. Let's go down... Please breath slowly.. " she said as she took her down..

'no granny you don't have to be sorry it's not what you think... He was teasing  me and I was about to become a  rival to tomato. Thank you for  saving me..' she thought and sighed.

'huh.. So grandpa got stuck outside huh...ten days ago lucas suddenly changed the door lock into advanced one. It can only be  opened by lucas or me... Even helly and cabel have to use calling bell.. He changed it into fingerprint one and for alternate option it have  face recognition with only our faces.. He said it was for safety so I didn't bothered about it.

After he come inside we had a small chat with tea and snacks.. Grandma liked lippe  tea and we continued chatting while lucas took grandpa to garden to talk about something..

" dear.. I am very  happy for lucas.. Please take good care of him.. He came all the way here to stay with you.." she said and smiled..

"yeah I will don't worry..and to be truth he was the  one always taking care of me..."

  I said and smiled back.. Yeah he was the one who always drop and pick me up from uni.. Give me company if I go out alone.. Now that I think about it.. I didn't take care of him that much..

" you may already know but.. Since he is a adopted child he always lived away from us.. He set a boundary around  himself  which no one can surpass and reach him... We are quite shocked when he said he have a girlfriend in his hometown.. We are so curious about you so we used the vacation to come here.. Sorry to bother you two "she said and smiled..

"not at all.. don't think like that grandma.. We are just surprised since you came without prior notice.. We are happy that   you two came all the way here to see us .." i said

'I feel guilty lying to her. But wait.. They are his family..?!! Lucas didn't said anything about that.. Yeah I also  don't  share everything with him..'

The grandma started talking again and their conversation continued.. When athy came out of the  guest room she saw lucas arguing with his  grandpa and then stormed  out.. Grandpa sighed as he came inside.. He smiled at  her and went back inside his room... Athy stood at the entrance and saw lucas was no where to seen

'where did  he go..?' she thought as she went upstairs.. Time fled as she was busy with her studies ..

" oh shit.. I lost track of time. I have to prepare dinner." she mumbled as she got down and helly came to her house at the right  time..

" oh thanks helly.. You don't know how grateful I was to aunty.." she said taking the food tray she is holding..

"what's the big deal mom loves  to cook and she made some extra dishes.. She got ecstatic when granny praised her cooking.. Pfft...do  You know what  my mom  thought about while cooking dinner... How to open a korean restaurant in Newyork.. Haha.."

helly said and they giggled.. They continued  chatting as they set the table and athy invited them for dinner...

" thanks for  the dinner dear... "grandpa said and she smiled at him..

" did that rascal came back or not...? " he asked looking around for lucas..

" he didn't.. "athy said and noticed a sad expression on his face..

" he isn't answering  my calls.. will you try calling him..? " he asked and she smiled apologetically.

" sorry grandpa he left his mobile here.. " she said and he slowly nodded his head.

After they finished dinner athy cleaned the dishes and chatted with the old couple helping them took thier medication.. She went upstairs to her room after waiting for lucas for a while.. She got surprised when she saw lucas standing on the balcony.. She walked towards him..' when did he sneak inside..?' she thought.

" when did you.." she stopped when she saw his face..

'is he crying..? What happened..? ' she thought surprised..

"are you okay..?" she asked in a worried tone.  He turned the other side wiping his tears and nodded a yes.

" I thought you are good at lying  but you aren't"

she said in a blank tone..he turned towards her and when thier eyes met.. They stood there silently.. Staring at each other.. Athy suddenly walked closer to him and hugged  him tight.. Lucas was surprised by the sudden hug and stood like a statue letting  her hug  him..

"it's okay.." she said patting his back..

'The tears I  held  back after trying so  hard  started running down again ... Her words made me  lose control and cry.. Her gentle pat on my back  and the tight hug.. It felt  warm.. Safe.. I.. I felt loved..'

he thought as his hands slowly hugged her back..

"what is okay..?" he asked his  voice cracking.

" to be not okay.. You don't have to be ok all the time you know... You can't... It's ok.. Just cry.." she said patting him..

' after hearing her words  my tears started flowing like a faucet is opened in my eyes.. At that time I realised she have  another side to her ..her mature  side which Consoled  me, pampered me and showered me with love.. Told me it's ok.... Her words stirred my deep buried feeling to pour out.. I felt like.. may be I was waiting for someone to say them to me .. I never cried  in front  of others.. Not even infront of  cabel.. I hate it the most when others see my weak side.. But if it's her.. I strangely didn't cared ..  I want  to always hugged  like this by her ...this is so warm.. '

he thought as he buried his face on her neck and  tightened the hug.

They stood there  hugging with athy gently patting his back.. He cried to his heart content..
