𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞

ALANNA'S POV

It was now form time and I was sat against the wall , staring out the window . Mr Malik hadn't showed up for class yet so everyone was pretty much doing what they wanted , which included making a lot of noise .

" Guys stop it , sit " Mrs Fenumore shouts as she walks into the classroom , the two police officers following closely behind

" Where's Mr Malik " She asks when the noise had subsided

" He's late miss don't grass on him " One of the boys in my class said followed which a laugh

" Right this is detective inspector Bascombe " She says making her voice heard as she pointed towards him .

" Hi " He says akwardly

" he's got something he wants to talk to you all about " She adds whilst looking around the room .

" All right guys , look as many of you may know " Detective Bascombe starts speaking before he is interrupted by Mrs Fenumore

" oh i'm so sorry and uh Dectective Seargant Frank " Mrs Fenumore says however it sounded more like a question

" It's fine " Dectective Frank says with a smile

" As many of you may know there was a tragic incident that took place the night before last , it involved a fatality among one of your schoolmates " He says trying to use fancy words to try and make it seem somewhat better

" Did Jamie do it sir " Moray says from the front of the classroom

" course he did " I say with a scoff

" listen to the man " Mrs Fenumore says which made that pair of us shut up

" Oh shit he did " Moray shouted out causing the whole class to start laughing

" stop swearing please " Mrs Fenumore said angrily

" Look , calm down , We have made one arrest but we are here today because we still haven't found the murder weapon and I know that sound very serious and scary but you guys may have some information that we need " Detective Bascombe says seriously

" oh yeah cause all of us were best friends with Jamie " I say sarcastically

" Is it true you've got a video " Moray jokes

" Any other situations , any other issues connected to his case you can also come and talk to - " Detective Bascombe says but before he could finish what he was saying Mr Malik walked through the door

" Mr Malik , we protected you " Moray says

" Sorry i'm late , you must be the police yeah " Mr Malik says whilst tucking in his shirt

" you must be the police , I love you Mr Malik " Moray says bursting out into fits of laughter

" I'm going to give Mr Malik my card , it has the police stations number on it so if any of you wanna talk or you've got information go to Mr Malik and he'll come to us alright " Detective Bascombe says , ignoring all of the chaos that was going on inside the classroom

Both the detective start to head out of the classroom, I'm guessing that all of the chaos was getting to much for them . I mean it didn't really look they were used to it . The strange thing for me was that just before Bascombe went to leave the room we locked eyes , it was almost like it was searching for information that was stuck behind me eyes or something like that .

D.I BASCOMBE'S POV

" you know the Alanna girl " I say to Misha

" Yeah " Misha replies, questioning on what I was actually saying

" I don't know what it is but there is something off with her " I say , trusting my gut instinct

" What do you mean " Misha says obviously not following what I was trying to say

" She just looks so familiar but I just can't put my finger on it " I say

" Well I think that you're just over thinking it all " She replies shutting down all of my thoughts

ALANNA'S POV

We were in the middle of watching the film that Mr Malik had put on for us when an alarm started to ring loudly throughout the school .

" Walk out quickly but safely everyone " Mr Malik shouted but everyone ignored him and ran towards the door of the classroom . Everyone ran through the corridors to get to the tennis courts where our assembly points where , I was just excited to speak to Jade to see if she was alright .

" Okay everyone get into line in your form groups " A teacher shouted from the front of the tennis courts

I see Jade lined up with her form , her arms folded which made me know that she was upset about the whole ordeal.

" Hey Jade , you alright " I say stopping next to her in the line .

" yeah , the fucking police were asking me some stupid questions about Katie " Jade said , tears still slipping from her eyes .

" Same here , Mrs Bailey had too drag me out of the office " I say with a little smirk on my face

Before Jade could even reply , D.I Bascombe walked past us as he kept his eyes firm on the pair of us the whole way down the line .

" Alanna Johnson get to your form group " I heard Jade's form tutor yell at me from the front of the line

" i'll see you later " I say to Jade as I start walking away from her .

I deliberately go the long way round just so I could walk past detective Bascombe and just as I guessed he stared at me once again .

" oi , Ryan what have you done " I hear the voice of Jade scream as she comes storming into Ryan who was stood a bit further infront of me .

The next thing I know is Jade is laying a swing at him , my first instinct was to try and get Jade off him but i'm reality I decided to leave her to it and instead cheer her on .

" Go on Jade " I shout along , there was some part of me that just wanted to jump in to help Jade out but I only realised how much trouble that would get me into and I didn't need that right now so I decided to just watch on .

" You fucking bastard , you killed my best friend , you killed my best friend , you fucking ... fucking " Jade kept shouting as she repeatedly punched Ryan as everyone surrounding her cheers on with excitement.

" Jade , Jade " a teacher shouted as another teacher pulled Jade off of Ryan

" He killed my friend " Jade shouted to the teacher like she was trying to explain her actions

" No he didn't " The teacher said

" the fucking freak , get off of me miss " Jade shouted as another teacher entered on to the scene to try and stop the crowds that were forming around Ryan , who was still on the ground .

The teacher didn't listen to Jade , no matter how many times Jade begged to be let go the teacher just continued to drag her away . I went to go follow along behind her , I mean after all she was my best friend, the only one I had left  but just as I was trying to push through the crowd Mrs Baileys arm stopped me in my tracks .

" it's fine love , I'll deal with it " She says pushing me back a bit and walking quickly to catch up with Jade , probably to try and calm her down .

As all of the other teachers were now occupied with Ryan who was still sat on the gravel injured , I used the opportunity to escape from the scene with a plan to head home . It was just my luck that Detective Bascombe saw me make my escape and decided to follow along behind me . At first I thought that maybe he was just heading the same way as me but when I started to head towards the science block was when I knew that it wasn't just a coincidence.

" Why are you following me " I ask , stopping in my tracks and turning around to face him .

" why are you trying to leave school " he questions me

I stay silent not giving him a response and just kept walking towards the school gate hoping that me wasn't going to keep following me .

D.I BASCOME'S POV

I watched on as Alanna just carried on walking away from me and towards the school gates , I reply the interaction we just had over and over in my head because something  just wasn't right with it . That is when it clocked . Alanna had a scar right below her right eye , not huge but most definitely noticeable. The mystery girl that was caught on CCTV with Jamie minutes after the altercation with Katie had the exact same scar , it had to be here .
