18- 2AM and I'm cursing your name

"I just want to sleep Taylor.." Selena wines through the house, half running, half stumbling away from her best friend. "Just let me sleep."

Taylor lets out a tired sigh. "Sel, you can't go to sleep in that dress. You need to change." She says as she finally gets a hold of Selena's arm.

"Now go change." The blonde singer says as she pushes her friend into the bathroom with a set of pyjamas.

"Ehmm Taylor?" A lower voice says. Taylor recognises it as Lauren's. "I could use some help with Camila. The others are all asleep and she doesn't want to change her clothes either."

Taylor lets out a laugh. "What is it with everyone and alcohol and not wanting to change into their pyjamas?" She giggles, opening the door of the bathroom where Selena is in and seeing that the girl is now finally changed and is brushing her teeth.

"Lets go catch Cabello." Taylor says, Lauren and her making their way out of the room and into the hallway. "Camz come here!" Lauren shouts through the hallway as she sees the girl standing at the end of the hall with a sly grin on her face. "I brought Taylor and she'll kick your ass."


Camila lets out a giggle before taking off and running in the opposite direction. "Ughhh.." Lauren sighs, a smile on her face however. Taylor smiles and they both take off too and run after the drunk girl.

A loud thud is sounding through the hallway then and the young, drunk girl is laying on the carpet floor. "Ouch.." She mumbles, reaching down for her arm, which has a cut in there and is bleeding.

"Oh god." Lauren mumbles, sitting down next to the girl. She had cut herself on the picture frame that was now laying on the floor next to her, broken. "Taylor.. I'm s-sorry." Camila mumbles, holding the broken picture frame up for the blonde singer to take it. Taylor smiles and takes it from the frowning girl. "Thats okay." She says. "Ill get a new one. Now lets get you a bandage and change then."

Camila sighs and nods as Taylor goes to a nearby room to retrieve some bandages for the girl. A few minutes later Camila is changed and taken care off, a big, white bandage wrapped around her arm. "Now go to sleep, will you?" Lauren smiled at her band member. 

Camila sighs. "Okaaay.." She says, dragging the word out.

"Good night." Taylor says, winking at Lauren secretly before heading for her own bedroom, where Selena was in her bed, fast asleep. She gets her phone from her purse and opens her texts. She smiles broadly when she sees that Karlie has sent her a text.

Karlie: Hey you, hope you had a great night! Could you please send me a text when you're home safely? Thank you. I love you x

Taylor's grin grows even bigger as she starts typing a reply back:

Taylor: Hi Karls, my night was really good. I'm home now. I hope your day is good or has been good. Sleep well later. I love you too x

Selena lets out a loud snore, making the blonde singer giggle. She heads into the bedroom, changes her clothes, gets her makeup off and brushes her teeth before diving into bed next to her snoring friend. The sun has already risen and so the room was lit up by the sunlight. Luckily Taylor has a special curtain system installed in her house so that she can make it dark, even when it's bright and sunny outside. She presses a small button on a remote control on the small table next to her bed and the room grows dark. She closes her eyes and soon drifts off to sleep, where her mind is filled with one special, secret agent with very green eyes.

"Morning." Taylor says to a very grumpy and hungover Selena Gomez as she turns around to see her. 

"Hmm.." Her friend groans, grabbing the blankets to pull them over her head as Taylor opens the curtain system.


"Alcohol." Is all that Taylor says, smiling at her best friend's grumpiness. "Ill get you some aspirin."

Selena just groans when Taylor leaves the bed, checking her phone. She got another message from her girlfriend saying: 

I miss you. Great to hear you had a good night, I'm going to sleep now x

Taylor smiles bitterly, missing her Karlie too. She makes her way down the stairs and notices everyone is already there. When she checks the time, she sees that it's already 1.32pm. 

"Hey." She says, her voice soar from all the singing and shouting she did yesterday. 

"Hi." She gets back from Zendaya, who is sitting at her kitchen table, chopping away some pancakes. "Hey." Lauren and Camila reply. When Taylor looks over at the two, who are sitting at the kitchen table too, she sees that Camila is practically half asleep, leaning against her band member, who is stuffing some pancakes into her own mouth.

"Who made the pancakes?" Taylor excitedly asks, her stomach rambling in hunger. 

"Martha." Zendaya replies with a mouth-full. "She had to leave early for a photoshoot though."

"Whoa, model-life. Tough." Taylor says as she sits down next to all the girls and grabs some pancakes to eat. 

"How's the other drunky?" Lauren asks, her voice even raspier than before.


"Still asleep. Ill bring her some aspirins and breakfast in a bit." Taylor mumbles with a mouth full of pancake and syrup. "Hows that one?" She asks, pointing at Camila.


"Shit." Camila answers for herself.

All the girls chuckle, including Camila herself, as they all finish their breakfast. Around 5pm, Selena is the only one still hanging around at Taylor's place. Both girls are sat on the couch, watching a random episode of 'Friends'. All the other girls had gone home around 3, wanting to lay in bed and sleep.


"Taylor.." Selena says attracting Taylor's attention away from the show they're watching.

"Hmm?"

"What do you think of this guy?" Selena asks curiously, showing Taylor a picture on her phone.


"Well.. a lot of guys are better than Justin was to you." Taylor comments drily, receiving a punch in the arm from her best friend. "I was joking." She laughs. "He looks cute, why"?

"Good." Selena says, content with Taylor's answer.


"Why?" Taylor asks curiously, thinking this was yet another guy Selena wanted to date.


"You have a date with him tomorrow." Selena says, a grin on her face.


Taylor's stomach does a full flip. "W-what?" She asks, her voice almost inaudible.

"His name is Jason, you have a date with him tomorrow at 8. At that cute Italian restaurant we went once." Selena replies easily, still looking at her phone, skipping through the photos of the blonde haired guy.


"I..I..ehmm.. Selena.." Taylor stutters.


"Youll be fine Tay. I thought it would be a good distraction for you since all that.. stuff happening the past couple of months. I mean it doesn't have to be anything serious.. yet." She says, laying a hand on Taylor's shoulder.


Taylor knows her friend only meant to do good with this, but anger boils up inside her as Karlie pops up into her mind. "Cancel it." She says, trying to contain her anger.

"No." Selena laughs. "Come on Tay, I'm sure-"



"Cancel the damn date, Sel." Taylor says, getting her phone from the couch and walking away, upstairs and into her bedroom.

"Fuck.." She whispers to herself as she dials Karlie's number.


"Hey Tay, what a nice surprise that you're calling me, i'm having such a busy day. How are you?" Karlie's voice sounds through the phone.

Taylor's voice seems to be gone.


"Hello? Taylor?"

 

"H-hi.." Taylor sniffs, noticing now that tears are running down her face.


"Hey.. hey why are you crying? Are you okay? Did something happen?"

"I..I.. just would like to tell everyone about you so much. I hate this secret.. shit." Taylor mumbles quietly through her tears.


"I know. I get that.." Karlie says, now calmer. "I.. I mean you can tell people. I wouldn't mind. I do understand that its hard for you though."

"I know.." Taylor breathes. "I just don't know yet."


Both women remain quiet.


"Taylor?" 

"Hmm?"

"I love you."

A small smile creeps onto the blonde singer's face.

"I love you too." She whispers.

"Im really sorry baby, but I have to go somewhere. Work." Karlie sighs. "But you can always text me and we can maybe Skype somewhere this week?"

Taylor nods, soon realising her girlfriend can't see that. "Yeah." She mumbles. "Thats alright."

"Okay. Bye. I miss you." Karlie says before quickly hanging up. Taylor hates that the girl has to work so much, but she understands and respects it. She sighs and puts her phone in the pocket of her grey sweatpants.

A soft knock sounds on Taylor's bedroom door. "Yeah?" She says, wiping the last tears out of her eyes. 

Selena opens the door and sits down on the edge of the blonde singer's bed. "Im sorry, I didn't know it would be such an issue."

Taylor remains quiet, not knowing what to say. 'Should I tell her?' She thinks to herself as she looks into her best friend's eyes.

"Is something up?" Selena asks, almost reading her friend's mind.

Taylor shakes her head quickly, not fully ready to tell her friend about her relationship with the female secret agent yet.


"Then what's the problem about the date?" Selena asks further, noticing something's up. "Is there.. someone else?"

Taylor swears her heart stops beating right that second.

"Wh- what, why would you think that?" The blonde singer stutters. 



"Well, you've been acting strange ever since you came back. And now with this date. Is there someone Tay?"

"I..I.." Taylor stutters, avoiding eye contact with the other pop-singer.

"So there is.." Selena smiles.

Taylor keeps on looking away from her best friend, who smugly grins at her.

"I knew it." Selena says. "I know you must have met someone abroad."

 

Taylor's heart is pumping in her throat as she now looks back at her best friend. 

"Is it some Italian hottie? I know you like those." Selena smiles, not understanding why her best friend is making such a problem out of this.

Taylor shakes her head 'no'. "American." She mumbles.

"Girl, you travel the world and you end up with someone from here?" Selena says, as she sits next to the singer. "Who is it?"

Taylor sighs and looks her friend in the eyes. She starts panicking and practically sits there, hyperventilating. "Hey, come here." Selena says, pulling her friend in a hug. "It's okay. You can tell me."

Taylor is sat there with her head on her friend's shoulder. Could she really tell her? She sighs deeply before lifting her head up and looking at her friend with teary eyes. Selena smiles a small smile at her before nudging her with her elbow.

"Sel.." Taylor starts, her tone serious. "It's going to sound super weird." She says. "Like insane weird."

"Come on, you're making yourself crazy." Selena says and Taylor sighs again.


"Okay so I've been away for what? Half a year that I was been gone?" Taylor asks.


"Something like that yeah." Selena says, still smiling at the blonde singer.


"Well.. I was helped or well kinda kidnapped by this secret agency right?" Taylor asks, her cheeks heating up and her heartbeat picking up once more. Selena nods for her to continue. 



"Ive been dating.. or well I've been with someone a lot of that time." Taylor says then, Selena's mouth falls open.

"Whoa, all that time?" She asks. "You should've just told me dumbass." She says, playfully slapping her friend's shoulder, still smiling. 



"Yes, well a lot of that time. We have kinda gone on and off at the start." Taylor says. "But yeah.."

Selena jumps up in excitement. "Oh my god!" She squeals. "And no one knows this right? Not even your parents?" She asks.


Taylor shakes her head 'no' once more. "You're the first one to really know." She says.


Selena does a little happy jump and sits down next to the blonde singer again. "So who is this lucky guy?" She asks. That's when Taylor audibly gasps and she feels her hands starting to shake.



"Well.. I.. ehm.. you're probably not.. hmm.. expecting th-"



"Tell me, tell me, tell me!" Selena shouts happily, grabbing the singer's hands.

Taylor swallows. "It's.. the secret agent that was with me the last half-year." She spills out, stuttering.

"Oh my gosh thats so- wait what? Wasn't that a.. woman?" Selena asks, smiling at first but her smile faltering in confusion a second later.


Taylor looks away from her best friend and nods shyly, a single tear rolling down her cheek. Why was it so incredibly hard for her to say this to her friend?


"Oh.." She hears her friend say. "Tay.. I.. don't.."


Another tear rolls down Taylor's cheek. She then feels a hard stump against her arm. "You could've just told me that, silly!" A smiling Selena says. Taylor looks to her side in relief. "I don't understand why you kept that for yourself all this time."

Taylor sighs, a major wash of relief washing over her. "I.. I didn't know how you'd react.." She mumbles. She feels her friend hugging her tightly from the side.

"You really thought I would mind you dating a woman?" Selena asks, her voice highpitched. "I don't care who the hell you date, Tay. As long as he or she makes you happy." A little smile appears on Taylor's face.


"Does she make you happy?" Selena asks. Taylor's smile grows bigger. 

"Yes." She says while nodding. Selena lets go of her best friend.

"Girl, I have some catching up to do. What's her name?"

"Karlie.." Taylor smiles.

The girls talk for hours and hours about how Taylor fell in love. Who Karlie really is and all the things Taylor likes about her. The blonde singer could now finally tell someone the whole story of her disappearance.

"So when will I meet her?" Selena asks after they've sat on the bed for a long while, talking about the girl Taylor loves with a cup of warm tea in their hands.


"Probably not anytime soon." Taylor says sadly.



"What? Why not?" Selena asks, surprised by her friend's answer. 



"She's working with some celebrity in Australia for about half a year." Taylor responded, looking down at her hands. "She probably can't visit until that job ends."

"Girl no offence, but you have a shitload of money. Cant you just let her move in with you?" Selena asks.


Taylor laughs. Not even having thought about such an extravagant idea yet. "I.. don't know about that." She says. "She's.. she kinda is the best in her job in the world you know."


"Hmm." Selena sighs. "Well, have a think about it. You cant continue like this for the rest of your lives."


"I know." Taylor sighs. "Thanks Sel."


The two women spent the rest of the evening watching recaps of 'Friends' until Selena decides to go home, leaving Taylor alone in her apartment.


The blonde singer decides to try and Skype-call her girlfriend.

Her laptop rings for about ten times and right before Taylor wants to give up, she hears a short bleep and sees her beautiful girlfriend on her screen.

"Karls!" She squeals happily. Karlie smiles.


"Hi babe, this is a surprise." She says.


"I have something to tell you." Taylor smiles, watching how Karlie sits a table close to a window where the sun is shining through brightly.


Karlie's eyebrows rise up. "Oh. Tell me!" She says curiously.


"I told Selena about us." Taylor says, spilling the good news out. "And she's so excited about it." Taylor giggles. Karlie's smile grows even bigger.


"Whoah!" She says. "Im so happy for you Taylor!"


Taylor feels her smile grow bigger as well. "Thank you." She says. "Im so happy."


They stare at one another in silence for a while then. "I miss you." Karlie says then. 



"I miss you too." Taylor says. "I.. I was thinking.." She adds then, thinking back about what Selena had talked with her about. "I.. I'm wondering when you'll.. you'll be in the US for a long time?"

Karlie's smile falters. "I don't know." She says. "I never really know." 



"I know but I mean after Australia?" Taylor asks. 



"I.. don't know Taylor." Karlie sighs. "I think i'm free for a month and that they can sent me away again after that."


"But.." Taylor sighs. "Ah never mind, lets talk about this sometime.."


"No, tell me what you wanted to say." Karlie pushes. "I wanna know."



"Well I.. was wondering if you can't.. get a job around here? Like.. as some other kinda agent of officer or whatever?" Taylor asks. "Im not saying you have to do that. I was just wondering about it since I.. I wanna spent a lot of my time with you and.. We can't really do that this way."

Karlie sighs and looks away from the laptop screen. "I know.. it's hard huh?" She says. 

Taylor nods, making Karlie look back at the screen. 

"I.. can't just stop now. I'm the best secret agent in-"



"In the world yes. I know." Taylor sighs. "I.. was just thinking about it and thinking about how it could be you know. We cant always live like this, can we? We never see each other.."



Karlie sighs once more, tears appearing in the corner of her eyes. "I know." She breathes.

Taylor is fighting her tears as well. "Lets just.." She sighs. "Lets just think about it yeah?"

Karlie nods. "Okay." She says. Both women share a short, small smile and stare into each other's eyes through the laptop screens. 



"Can.. can you come here anytime soon?" Taylor asks. "Maybe christmas?" It's only the end of September but Taylor was already trying to plan something with her girlfriend.



"I.. Ill see if I can get away from here around christmas." Karlie says. "I promise Ill try my best." 



"Okay, thank you." Taylor says. "Gosh, I miss you."


"I miss you too. I love you so much Taylor, I hope-" A loud sound is audible through Taylor's laptop screen and Karlie turns around abruptly. Taylor hears her swearing and sees that her girlfriend grabs her gun from her desk before jumping up from her chair. Another loud bang sounds and Taylor's breath hitches. It sounds like.. gunshots?

 

"I have to go. Ill call you." Karlie says sternly before closing the laptop. 

"I love you!" Taylor shouts, but the screen is has already gone black.

Taylor is pacing around in her bedroom, hoping that her girlfriend would shoot her a text or call her soon. It's 2AM and she still hasn't heard a thing from her. She shouts her name out loud. "God dammit Karlie, sent me a damn text.." She lets herself fall onto her bed, tears rolling down her cheeks. "Please be okay.." She whispers.

When she still hasn't heard anything from the woman at 4AM, sleep eventually takes over. Taylor falls asleep, exhausted by the strange events that have taken place today.

HI EVERYONE! I HAVE REALLY EXCITING NEWS!!

I'm writing a CAMREN fanfic and i've published a few chapters already so if you like, maybe ya'll could go check it out?! It's called 'Potions' and its about Camren at Hogwarts.
