7- Getting closer and closer
13:52, 9 October 2018"Where are we going?"
Its the third time that Taylor has asked Karlie the question today, but the green eyed woman just keeps on staring at the road with a grin on her face.
"Come on Karls. Please." Taylor pouts at the younger girl, who isn't even looking at the famous singer but just staring at the long road in front of them. She lets out a giggle, finding it adorable how hard the singer is trying.
"Karlieeee.." Taylor wines. "Tell m-"
"Amsterdam."
"No way?!" Taylor says. "You think thats one of the safest places?"
"Thats exactly why I didn't tell you anything." Karlie says, smiling at the other woman for a short while and then looking back at the calm highway.
"Why Amsterdam?" Taylor asks, pulling her knees up to her chest and leaning back in her chair. She thinks about the last time she was in Amsterdam, for her tour. It had almost already been a year ago, in June 2015. She had liked performing there, crowds in Europe were amazing. But she cant see herself temporarily living in a city which she doesn't necessarily find the safest on earth or even in Europe.
"Cause the CSP has an apartment there for us." Karlie explains. "It was the closest to Austria, so yeah."
"Okay." Taylor replies, suddenly less cheery than a couple of minutes ago. "So how long is the drive still?"
"Six hours." Karlie says, bringing her hand over to Taylor's but stopping herself quickly. She knows she shouldn't get too comfortable with the singer. She's still business after all.
"Oh, thats actually okay." Taylor says, seeing the inner struggle that Karlie seems to have with the hand movement she just made.
"So no complaints anymore, miss Swift?" Karlie asks in an official tone, a smile on her face again. Taylor lets out a laugh.
"Oh, shut up."

Two hours later:
"Im hungry."
"So?" Karlie asks, raising her eyebrows while smiling at Taylor. The two women were still on their way and hadn't stopped yet since they left their cabin.
"So.." Taylor says, smiling at the green eyed woman. "Can we get something to eat somewhere?"
"Yes, princess." Karlie says playfully, taking the first turn off the highway and driving into a drive thru immediately.
"Princess." Taylor scoffs. "Oh come on."
The pair orders a menu with some fries, a burger and something to drink and continue their journey to the Netherlands right after finishing their meals.
"You could be a model." Taylor comments about an hour after their lunch.
Karlie looks over at the singer for about a second then, a surprised expression on her face.
"Oh please.." She says, an amused smile on her face.
"Im serious." Taylor says, still studying the girl's face. "You got the face, the body, the thing. You could be a model." Taylor observes.
"The thing?" Karlie asks, one eyebrow raised now.
"Oh you know. The thing." Taylor says, suddenly shying away from the younger girl and looking outside.
"What thing?" Karlie asks, yet again, a small smile on her face.
Taylor sighs, seeming to struggle with her own thoughts and words. "You're sexy. That thing." She says drily. "Tadaaaa. Surprise, surprise." Taylor looks at Karlie's face then. The agent's cheeks are bright red and she is quite obviously trying to keep a straight face.
Taylor lets out a nervous laugh, knowing she just admitted that 'her protector' is hot. Which she really just is but well... 'Gosh, she's hot. Stop it Taylor. But she's so hot and funny and cute and- Taylor, stop it. She's a girl. And a girl you still barely know. And she's your secret protector for god's sake..'
The singer shakes her head, trying to get rid of all thoughts that include Karlie, Karlie and more Karlie.
———————————————————————————————————————
"This is.. it?" Taylor asks, uncertainty in her voice as she speaks. The two women are standing in front of a large, old looking building, one of many canals behind them. Its already dark outside and Taylor just wants to get in any house really, she doesn't like Amsterdam at night. Actually, she doesn't like any city at night. She finds the darkness scary and never really goes out when its dark.
"Yep." Karlie replies, fishing a key from underneath the doormat.
"Wow. Thats.. thats just so safe and thought through. Great company you work fo-" Taylor starts.
"Tay, please.." Karlie says, unlocking the big, wooden door and pushing it open. She lets the popstar walk in first, being the gentlewoman she is and then closes the door behind them immediately, locking it with the 10 locks it contains.
"Where is the light switch.." She hears Taylor mumble, but when she hears a click, she hears the her gasp right after.
"Wow."
Karlie observes the room they're in. The word that she thinks that would describe it best, is white. Everything, is white. Except for the black, leather, couch in the middle of the room, in front of a glass fireplace. The walls are all white, the floor is white, most of the furniture is white. Its all white and luxueus.
"So is this was miss Taylor Swift is used to?" Karlie asks, breaking the silence while pushing the singer's shoulder playfully as she passes her with the two big bags in her arms.
"Well actually.." Taylor says, smiling at the younger woman.
"Don't even say it." Karlie says, smiling back at her and walking up the stairs, towards what she assumes is the bedroom.
"There is only one bed again." Karlie shouts at the older woman downstairs.
"As if you mind.." Taylor says. Karlie can hear that the singer is smiling. She knows that she likes sleeping next to her a lot. Its strange. It makes her feel safe, even though she is the one that needs to protect the superstar.
She places the two bags in a big walk in closet in the bedroom. Everything in the bedroom is white too. The bed, the sheets, the walls, the floor, the doors, everything. Karlie has never stayed in such a luxueus apartment with one of her clients before. She really relieved actually, she had expected some kind of small, filthy shed but this is way, way better.
She makes her way down the majestic looking, glass stairs again and walks towards the living room area, where Taylor is laid out on the couch. Karlie smiles at the sight.
"Comfortable?" She asks while sitting down at the other end of the couch.
"Mhm.." The singer hums in approval. Karlie looks at all of the white walls, in search for a tv. When she discovers none, she looks at the clock. Its 5PM. Time for dinner.
"Are you hungry?" Karlie asks the singer who has now even closed her eyes.
"What kind of question is that?" The blonde asks, sitting up. "Of course."
Karlie laughs before getting up from the couch and putting her jacket on that she had thrown on the floor when coming in. "Well, ill get some food then."
"Can I come with you?" Taylor asks, her voice hopeful.
"Taylor.." Karlie sighs. "Its not safe. Maybe tomorrow?" She hates declining the singer's requests and knows that the blonde only wants to feel normal. Which is just hard when you're famous all over the globe.
"Yeah.." Taylor sighs, laying back down on the couch.
"Sorry." Karlie says, getting the keys out of her pocket and opening the front door. "Ill be right back, I promise."
"Okay." Taylor says, smiling a small smile at the younger girl before searching the walls for a tv. She finally finds this weird looking spot that is slightly less white than the rest of the wall, presses a random button and a tv comes right out of the stone, bricks. She is shocked at first, having no idea where the huge, electronic device had appeared from, but sits back down on the couch again when its turned on. She searches a few drawers of the small coffee table and eventually fishes a remote out of one of them. After zapping through the channels for a while, she eventually settles on a crime channel that interests her and lays down on the leather couch once more.
—————————————————————————————————————
"So you're telling me that you've kissed FIVE people that night?!" Taylor asks the younger girl in disbelieve. The two girls are both sitting on the couch, half-empty wine glasses in their hands, discussing random things that interest them. A fire is softly crackling in the glass fireplace and the apartment has a comfortable atmosphere to it, the fire giving it an orange glow. Taylor has put a playlist on with some music, that is now playing softly over the big sound system in the living-room.
"Well.. I mean.. If you count the toilet lady.. yes."
"There was a toilet lady?!" Taylor practically screams. "Karlie Kloss!"
"Well.. she wasn't a real like.. lady. She was my age.. okay maybe a little older.. but yeah.. she was just working there to earn some money.. I guess.." Karlie has a big smile on her face, her cheeks have a pink glow from the alcohol in her system. She decides that this is her last glass, for sure.
"That's still.." Taylor struggles for words. "That's still.. bad."
"As if you didn't snog peoples faces off in that bar.." Karlie says. Taylor lets out an idiotic loud laugh before saying: "I have no idea what you're talking about." She sits back into the couch, almost kicking the empty wine bottle off the table in the meantime.
"Ben, Richard, Tom, oh and what was that guy's name.."
"How do you know their names!?" Taylor asks in terror, looking at Karlie with wide eyes.
"You do realise by now, that im a spy. Right?" Karlie says, taking a sip from her wine before putting the empty glass on the table.
"You saw.. everything that happened.. there?" Taylor asks, still in pure shock.
"Yep."
"Oh my gosh!" Taylor exclaims, smacking her own forehead as her cheeks turn bright red.
"I didn't know I would see the Taylor Swift make out with Selena Gomez.. That.. that wasn't exactly in my job description." Karlie says, an ever present smile on her face as she studies Taylor's face.
"You.. no way.." Taylor sighs. "Come on.. that was a one time thing. We were very, very drunk."
Karlie gives the blonde a skeptical look.
"Ughhhh.." Taylor sighs. "I don't even roll that way.." She says. "I mean.. I think.. I mean I've never.. well.. you know.." Her cheeks that had just turned back to normal again, shoot back to bright red.
"You're cute when you blush." Karlie says, imitating the older girl's sentence from a couple of days ago.
"Shut up." Taylor says, throwing one of many white pillows at the girl. She finishes her wine and places the fancy looking glass on the table too. "You still kissed the toilet lady." The blonde says, a smile back on her face.
"Ughhh.." Karlie groans, throwing the pillow right back at the singer, right in her face.
"Ouch!" Taylor exclaims dramatically. The pillow bounces away and onto the ground a couple of metres from the couch. The singer gets up from her place then, feeling quite dizzy when standing on both feet. When she starts walking, she notices that the room seems to be spinning a bit and she holds onto the couch's armrest when making her way over to the pillow on the floor. She feels herself slowly falling forwards when two strong arms wrap around her waist.
Karlie was suddenly there, standing in front of her with that big smile on her face. Taylor has no idea how the younger woman got there, but she's there.
"You've had too much to drink. I think Im having a deja vu." Karlie says, making Taylor dumbly grin at her. The singer bends down to get the pillow from the ground and throws it towards the couch, when she is standing up again. Karlie is still holding her so that she won't fall, Taylor has to look up a bit to look into the girl's eyes.
"Your eyes.. are green and.. pretty." The singer mumbles. "Ive noticed that from the night when I first saw them."
Karlie giggles softly but steps back a bit, knowing where this situation might be going. Taylor steps forward however and lays her chin on the girl's shoulder while hugging her.
"Tay, we should go to bed." Karlie mumbles, liking the smell of Taylor's hair so much.
The singer steps back again, looking into Karlie's green eyes once more. "Oh you'd like that huh?" She asks cheekily, wiggling her eyebrows.
Karlie lets out another laugh and stares back into those happy looking blue eyes. Theres this little twinkle in them when she looks at her like that. That little sparkle. It makes her happy.
"Come on." Karlie says, taking one of Taylor's hands in hers and guiding her up the stairs carefully after turning the fire in the fireplace off. She guides the singer all the way to her side of the bed and lays her down carefully.
"Thank you." The blonde says gratefully, smiling widely at Karlie's sweet gestures.
"My pleasure, miss Swift." Karlie replies formally, getting out of her clothes in a dark corner of the room and putting on a white, oversized shirt before crawling into bed next to the singer.
"Stop calling me miss Swift." Taylor says, turning on her side clumsily to see Karlie. Its dark in the room however so she can just make out where her eyes are.
"Why?" Karlie asks, turning on her side too.
"Because.. it sounds so.. superstar ish." Taylor sighs. "I just want to be Taylor around you. Not Taylor Swift."
Karlie remains quiet, wondering where this serious topic suddenly came from. "Okay, I think I can do that." She says then. She feels one of Taylor's arms wrapping around her waist then and stiffens. Even though the alcohol in her system makes it easier to talk with the blonde, she is still very well aware of every touch that is made.
"Is this.. okay?" Taylor mumbles sleepily.
"I.. uhmm.. I.. hmm.. ehmm.." Karlie stutters, still confused by.. everything. "Yes." She eventually mumbles.
"Night Karlie."
"Night."
——————————————————————————————————————
A loud thud that sounds throughout the dark bedroom, wakes Karlie up immediately. She jumps out of bed and notices that it's already light outside. To her biggest surprise, Taylor isn't in the bed anymore. She looks around the room and notices the door to the bathroom is open.
"Taylor?!" She shouts loudly, her worst fears already playing in her head. 'Could someone have come in here and kidnapped her without me waking up?' She thinks as she storms into the bathroom, opening the door with a loud bang.
She looks at the ground and sees her laying there, looking at her with pained, blue eyes. There is a small pool of blood gathered around her head.
"Oh my god. Taylor what happened?" She asks as she kneels down next to the singer on the ground. She lifts her head up a bit, making the blonde groan in pain.
"I.. I fell." She mumbles softly, her voice groggy and filled with sleep. Karlie examines the blonde's head, there seems to be a small cut where the blood is gushing out off. "Is.. Is it bad?" Taylor asks softly.
Karlie sits down on her knees behind the older woman, supporting her head with her knees while in the meantime searching for something to stop the bleeding with. "It.. its okay." She says, grabbing a pack of tissues from the table next to the sink. The table that Taylor probably bumped her head against.
"What were you even doing here?" Karlie asks as she presses a paper tissue onto the bleeding cut.
"I forgot to take my contacts out last night, and so I wanted to do that now. But then I felt dizzy and well..I fell." Taylor explains calmly. "Its okay now though. I mean it barely hurts." Karlie presses the tissue a bit more and Taylor flinches immediately.
"We need to clean the wound." Karlie says, laying the singer's head down carefully before standing up. "If you get up, we can clean it with the shower head."
"Okay." Taylor sighs. Karlie takes both her hands and pulls her onto her feet. Taylor stumbles forwards immediately and falls into Karlie's arms. The green eyed woman holds the woman tightly against her, not wanting to let her get hurt any more. After a few minutes of being in the calming embrace, Taylor stirs. "Can we clean it? I wanna go to sleep again." She asks sleepily.
"Yes." Karlie says, walking the singer over to the shower and turning it on. She doesn't want to make Taylor undress and so she decides its probably best to just clean the wound with some streaming water coming from the shower-head.
"Is this warm enough?" Karlie asks while moving the shower-head closely over Taylor's head, making sure not to wet her clothes.
"Mhm.." Taylor hums in approval, her eyes closed.
After a while, when the younger girl is finally done with the cleaning of the wound, and it stops bleeding, she dries the singer's hair and head carefully. The cut has fully stopped bleeding now and so she thinks the girl can go back to sleep in her bed after pouring this painfully, disinfection stuff on the wound. Karlie will wake her up every two hours though, in case the singer has a small concussion.
"Thank you for taking care of me." Taylor says. "Gosh, I have a horrible headache.." She lays down in bed again, her eyes only slightly opened now.
"Ill get you some water and some asprins." Karlie says, smiling at the blonde. She thinks she looks beautiful. Even without her make-up, her perfect hair, her styled clothing or her whole media look. She looks beautiful being just her. She grabs some water and medicine for Taylor and hands it over to the poor girl. Their hands brush, making Karlie look into those pretty, blue eyes. Taylor is staring right back into Karlie's, getting lost in those green orbs. They stare at each other like that for a while before Karlie takes the bottle of water from the singer and puts it on a small, glass table in the room.
"You should go to sleep. Ill wake you up in two hours." The green eyed woman says, laying down in bed again too, next to Taylor, setting an alarm on her phone.
"What time is it?" Taylor asks, not even seeming to be surprised by the fact that Karlie wants to wake her up every two hours.
"6:10AM." Karlie says. "Way too early for two girls with a hangover."
She hears Taylor giggle softly before the girl's breaths turn into steady, heavy ones. Karlie sighs. She's tired. Tired of her lack of sleep, tired of hiding her feelings for Taylor, tired of the two of them having to live in constant fear. She's just tired.
