Chapter 25: The Day Before Our Anniversary

HyeRim POV

It's been 5 years since Kai and I got married. We even have a little one already. We named him YoungJun. YoungJun is only four, but it feels like a mini YoungJoo. Chanyeol has also been getting back on his feet. His boss let him keep his job, his house is clean, and he is also trying to stop drinking. Kris finally got married to his girlfriend and Sehun just recently got a second kid. It's like everything is a dream come true.

I was just about to open the door of the house after doing some errands, when...

"YOBO HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!"

I heard a shout when I opened the door. I looked up and saw Kai smiling and in his suit. He wore our color, red, and he held roses that sparkled. He smiled brightly and hugged me tightly. I hugged him back and pecked his lips.

"You look panicked.... Did you forget our anniversary?"

He asked.

"W-What? I-Isn't our anniversary tomorrow?"

I asked.

"Maybe... I wanted us to go on an overnight trip!"

Kai said. I chuckled and replied,

"Really?!"

I said excitedly. Kai smiled.

"Yeah! We are going to a secret place for our fifth anniversary!

He said. I was happy, but...

"But what about YoungJun?"

I asked.

"Ah.... I forgot... I already planned for Chanyeol to take care of him, but I forgot to drop him off."

Kai said.

"Ah... Okay.. I'll drop him off."

"No! It's okay yobo. I'll drop him off... Just relax and pack up."

Kai insisted. I smiled and nodded. Kai then went upstairs to get YoungJun and I went ahead to my room to get ready.

As I got ready, I suddenly felt someone grab onto my calf. I looked down to see YoungJun hugging my leg. I smiled and picked him up.

"YoungJun-ah~"

I said.

"Eomma!"

He said happily. I kissed his cheek and he pouted.

"YoungJun-ah, what's wrong?"

I asked.

"Is eomma and appa going somewhere?"

He asked sadly.

"Ne... Eomma and Appa are going to go somewhere for a while, but we will be back in a few days. Okay?"

I said. YoungJun was an understanding child, so I knew he would be okay with it.

"Ne..."

He said and pouted. I then laid him on the bed and blew raspberries onto his stomach. He giggled and smiled brightly, just like Kai.

"I love you eomma."

He said.

"I love you too..."

I said while caressing his head. I then put him down on the ground and he ran off.

A few moments later, Kai suddenly went into my room and back hugged me.

"Yobo.... I'm about to leave."

He cooed in my ear. I held his arms around my stomach and smiled.

"See you later, yobo."

I said.

"Actually.... I'm going to go pick up a few things before I go... You can go ahead and wait at the room and I'll see you there."

He said while kissing my cheek.

"Okay. I'll see you there."

I said while turning my body around. I pecked his lips and hugged him tightly. I could hear his heart beat and I could feel his warmth. I could feel Kai breathing on my head and he then let go. He looked at me one more time and said,

"I'll see you later."

He kissed my forehead and left after that. I smiled. I was excited for our anniversary.

"Kai isn't the only one that has a surprise in store for the anniversary."

I quietly said to myself while rubbing my stomach.

Narrator POV

Kai and YoungJun headed to where Chanyeol was going to pick up YoungJun. They headed to a nearby park and they immediately saw Chanyeol.

"Daddy!"

YoungJun shouted while running over to Chanyeol, who was sitting on a bench. Chanyeol's head quickly looked over to the small voice and smiled brightly. He hugged little YoungJun and said,

"My son!"

Chanyeol hugged YoungJun. Kai came over with his hands at his hips.

"What did I tell you?"

Kai said.

"Mwoh?"

Chanyeol said, holding YoungJun.

"I told you not to teach my kid weird things!"

Kai said.

"Whatever do you mean?"

"Appa! Appa! Am I sleeping at Daddy's house?"

"Y-YoungJun-ah! D-Don't call Uncle Channie that anymore! It's not Daddy! It's Uncle Channie!"

Kai tried to say.

"Arraseo."

YoungJun pouted.

"Awww..... Kai! Why can't he!? I mean, look at him! Look what you did!"

Chanyeol said patting YoungJun's back. Kai was at loss for words.

"Aish... Never mind that. Hey. I need you to take care of YoungJun for a the next few days."

"Waeyo?"

Chanyeol asked. Kai smiled and said,

"Our anniversary is coming up."

"Ahh.... I see... Okay. No problem. I'm excited to spend time with my son."

Chanyeol said smiling at YoungJun.

"Yah! He's not your son!"

Kai retaliated.

"Mehrong~"

Chanyeol said while sticking his tongue out. YoungJun did the same at Kai. Kai was both at loss for words.

"What have you done to my son?"

Kai asked quietly.

"I did absolutely nothing~ YoungJunnie just likes me more than you~"

Chanyeol teased. Kai sighed...

"Every single time I leave him with you, I worry that you brainwash him."

Kai said.

"Daddy! Are we going to watch the new Digimon series at your house?"

YoungJun asked Chanyeol.

"Mm~ We are!"

Chanyeol smiled.

"Yay!"

YoungJun cheered while Kai just stared at them from a distance.

"It's like YoungJun isn't even my son anymore."

Kai said.

"Yah~ YoungJun-ah! Don't call Uncle Channie that!"

Kai said, chasing after them.

Kai and Chanyeol began walking over to Chanyeol's apartment nearby and talked of the anniversary.

"So... What are you going to do?"

Chanyeol asked.

"Well... I was planning on a dinner, have a romantic walk on the beach.... Umm... Maybe watch a movie under the night sky... Stuff like that."

Kai said while smiling his face off. Chanyeol smiled, while YoungJun was happily sleeping in his arms. Kai and Chanyeol started walking across a street. Chanyeol carefully held YoungJun, so he wouldn't wake up, while Kai just thought of the anniversary. As they were halfway across the street...

"WATCH OUT!"

*BEEP BEEP*

*Boom*

"We have an injured man from an accident! Get the emergency room ready!"

A paramedic said while pushing the gurney into the hospital.

"He's losing a lot of blood!"

"Hurry! We can't lose him! We need another bag of blood! Stat!"

All of the nurses and doctors were rushing over to the injured person. They all crowded around the gurney. They were quickly pushing the gurney to the emergency room and they tried to keep him awake.

"Sir! Sir! We need you to stay conscious!"

The nurse said to the person. The person tried to nod, but he was too hurt to nod.

"We have to hurry!"

The nurse said breathlessly. The other nurses and doctors nodded and ran as fast as they could to the ER.

In the ER

"Most of his ribs are broken. Some of the broken ribs have punctured his lungs too, so there's a lot of internal bleeding. We are going to need more bags of blood. Also... There's a small percentage that he will live. But... We will have to try our best for this man to live."

One of the doctors said. The other nurses and doctors nodded.

In the Waiting Room....

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry.. I-I'm sorry."

He muttered to himself.

"I... I didn't mean for this to happen.. I-I'm sorry...."

HyeRim POV

I arrived at the room and saw how beautiful it was. The room had the best view of the ocean. I could even smell the ocean breeze from here. I noticed there were roses on the table nearby the kitchen. I smiled and headed over to the roses. I picked one of the roses up and smelled them. I can't wait for our anniversary to start....

Narrator POV

"WE'RE LOSING HIM! HE'S GOING INTO CARDIAC ARREST!"

"WE NEED THE DEFRIBULATOR!"

"READY! 1, 2, 3, SHOCK!"

"HE'S NOT RESPONDING!"

"ONE MORE TIME! 1, 2, 3, SHOCK!"

*Beeeeeeeeep*

"HE'S STILL NOT RESPONDING!"

"1, 2, 3, SHOCK!"

"He....W... We lost him..."
