42. Keya
13:51, 9 December 2021"My godchild's birthday is in few days, haven't you decided on what theme his birthday will be?" Jessy asks while all of us are currently having our usual weekend lunch date.
I massaged my temples because right after the incident happened two days ago about Sky wanting to watch hockey, I started freaking out! Especially when he demanded to watch a hockey game instead of a birthday kids party.
"Honestly, I am so stressed and worried!" I finally released my frustration. "Sky wants to watch hockey for his birthday!"
Seriously, my baby is way too matured for his age! He thinks way too advanced compared to a normal kid, I mean, he is just three! Still turning three. He even barely know how to pronounce the word 'birthday'!
"For real?" Lily chimed in as she seats next to me. "Who told him about that sport?"
"Absolutely nobody!" I answered completely frustrated. "I specifically banned ice hockey in our household eversince! I mean, even if its not banned nobody cares about hockey in my family!"
"Not until Sky." Jessy said. "Wow. Ice hockey really runs on their blood then, I should conclude. Damn! Seguin's genes is strong huh?"
I groaned. "I have already suggested him different superhero themed parties but no. He wants to watch a goddamn hockey game!"
"Then so be it!" Lily said.
"Absolutely not." I answered right away. "And what? So that Tyler will see him?"
"Why aren't you letting him see his son?" Jessy asked.
"Well..." I said completely hesitant on what should I say next because I don't have any concrete and acceptable reason why. "I just don't want to!"
"Bullshit!" Jessy said. "That's selfishness."
Strike hundred and four with the word selfishness! Jezz!
"Just let the kid do what he wants Keya." Lily said. "He is just a kid, you want him to be happy right? Besides, he only wants to watch a hockey game, not his father's game."
"True." Jessy agreed. "And if you don't want Tyler to see his son then watch a different team game then! You know you can just watch college division one hockey game for that."
"I guess that will do." I replied agreeing to Jessy's suggestion which is much better than watching a NHL game for sure Sky won't notice any difference.

I made it home early today so I decided to bring my family at the mall downtown, they've been staying at my apartment most of the time since they got here so we need to go out and have some fun.
I wanted to take them on one of the amazing tourist spots in the city but I still have a lot of things to do in school and my mom wants me to prioritize it as of now.
"Let's go to the kid's section and buy Sky some new clothes for his birthday party." My mom says.
"Mommy, I'm hungry!" My son demands as I carried him with me.
"What do you want honey?" I ask kissing him on his cheeks.
"I don't know." My son answers with his might even if the words are still incomprehendable. "Just anything, I am starving."
"Oh dear, alright let's go get you something to eat then." I said.
"I'll get him myself, can I?" My younger sister offers. "I saw some fastfood stalls right over there, I'll take him!"
"Are you sure?" I ask as Kelsey takes my son away and carry him herself.
She nodded. "I'm kind of hungry too anyway."
"Very well then." I said. "Take good care of your nephew, we'll just be there in the kid's section."
"We will take our time, right Sky?" Kelsey said cheerfully and my son just smiled making me to slightly pinch his red cheeks.
"Call us when you need anything, alright? Have fun!" My mom says and the two of them went on their way to go grab something to eat.
My mom and I then went to the kid's shop to buy my son some clothes and things that he'll need for his small birthday party. As my mom and I browse some baby clothes we talked about my plans on my son's actual birthday.
"You heard him mom, he doesn't want a kids party. He just want to watch a hockey game." I answered.
"I know, do you finally consider calling Sky's father about that?"
"No! Never."
I heard my mom sigh and stared at me. "Keya, how many times do I have to tell you to let Sky meet his father already?"
"Mom, will you please trust my decision about this?"
"I will definitely not."
"Mom, whose side are you even on?" I complained.
"My grandson."
I stared on my mom and she just raised her eyebrows and continue on choosing at the rack of clothes across from me. I was silent, I definitely know the answer to everything! And that is letting my son and his father meet, but things are kind of even became harder knowing that I lied to Tyler. It was all my fault, I know! This is already a karma biting my ass now.
I guess, I just need more time to think!
My mom and I ended up buying Sky a lot of clothes and shoes, more than what he needed. Probably because the store we went through are currently on sale, after I paid the cashier, we exited the store and called Kelsey to come meet them.
After just one ring my sister picked it up, but right before I can speak up I heard her sobbing from the other end of the line.
"Kelsey?" I said, starting to feel worried. "Kelsey, what's going on like?"
"Sky." She said sobbing, crying-- even sounding like she's about to have a panic attack.
"Sky?" I repeated completely confused now and absolutely scared. What happened to Sky? Where the hell are you?"
"What happened?" My mom asks, she looks worried too.
"He got lost! I don't know where he is!" Kelsey finally said clearly this time.
My whole world shuts down and I just cursed my sister. "How could you be so careless? Where are you?! I will totally kill you if something happens to my son! A---"
I started crying, my hands are all but shaking. What if something happened to Sky? My mom grabs the phone out of my hands and she talked to my sister instead. I didn't waited for my mom and walked to the nearest security officer that I can find and ask if he'll guide me to their quarter to ask for help to look for my son.
Try as I might, I remained calm. But the anxiety is unfathomable, tears just can't stop flooding out of my eyes. Kelsey then met us and despite of how annoyed I was because of her carelessness, I just ignored it and focused myself on finding my son. The security unit of the mall started searching for my son all over the massive building, I also ask them to check the security cameras.
What if my son got kidnapped or something? Oh my god!
"What exactly happened Kelsey?" My mom asks Kelsey.
"I was just ordering a food, while I let him play around." Kelsey started. "It was just a minute, I swear and when I looked back again to call him out he is already nowhere to be found."
"Why didn't you called us immediately?" I ask wiping my tears away. "What if he got kidnapped or something?"
"I panicked. I didn't know what to do! I'm really sorry!" Kelsey answered and cries again. "If something happens to him I'd totally won't forgive myself."
"You'd better be!"
"Keya!" My mom scolded.
"Someone reported a lost kid at the third floor." The security officer chimed in and I didn't wait for any further information coming from him, I immediately ran out heading to the said floor.
When I finally made it their and saw some security officers I immediately run towards them, and I thank the heavens that it was Sky. Oh my god! He is safe!
"Mommy!" He shouted and run towards me. I immediately hugged him real tight crying.
"Oh my goodness!" I said crying. "Where have you been? We're all worried! Are you okay?"
"A lady found him seating outside an appliances store watching a television." A security officer said which made me to realize that my mom and sister was with me standing at my back.
"Where's the lady officer?" My mom asks. "We want to personally thank her."
"Sky!" Kelsey said sobbing as she reach for my son and hugged him. "I am dying! You should never do that again!"
"And you should stop being neglectful with your nephew Kels, he is just three!" I told my sister and carry my son before standing up to thank the security who found my son.
"Oh no, don't thank me." The officer said and pointed at the lady who is standing few inches away from us. "Thank her instead, she found your son!"
I followed the direction where the officer pointed out to see my mom shaking the hands of a lady, and to my complete surprise, I know who the lady is... I was stunned. Unable to move, she is already looking at me.
It's Tyler's mom...
Right before I can moves even an inch, she started walking towards me.
"Keya..."
"You two know each other?" I heard my mom said on the background but I ignored her.
I blinked as fast as necessary, swallowing a big lump on my throat. She knows what the hell is going on already, right? She knows now.
"You have a lot of explaining to do." Mrs. Seguin slowly said.
I was glued and silenced. I only nodded, because what the hell is the point about denying everything? She have already witnessed everything.
