Eleven (Nico)

I'm terrified. Absolutely terrified. I have no idea how Darren will react when he sees me again. He doesn't know I work here, he doesn't know I'm married, we haven't spoken in over a decade. I take a shaky breath before walking into his room.

His eyes flutter open and he holds his head and asks for water which I give to him. Then he takes a moment to take everything in "where am I?" Asked Darren groggily "Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital" I reply, Darren looks over, then recognition fills his eyes and his mouth hangs open "'Nico?" Asked Darren, I nod "hello, Darren" I say half-heartedly, he frowns.

"What are you doing here?" Asked Darren "I'm a doctor here,  a surgeon actually" I replied, Darren laughed slightly "they let you become a doctor?" Asked Darren "yeah they did. Why wouldn't they?" I asked in response, I was a bit hurt by the comment but I brushed it off "well I didn't think they would've let your gay ass in college but I guess you graduated" replied Darren slyly "still homophobic I see" I commented

"Still gay I see" retaliated Darren, I felt the hate and resentment I used to have for him return, I was going to give him a second chance but I don't see why I should anymore. "I'm married now, how about you? Still single?" I asked, Darren stuttered for a minute before sighing "fine, yeah I'm single but what rat would want to marry you? I bet you're lying" replied Darren, I sighed and as if on queue, Levi entered the room "hey! Darren is awake" said Levi.

"Who's this twonk?" Asked Darren, I sighed "this is my husband, Levi this is my...my...brother, Darren and Darren, this is my husband Levi" I introduced  them both. A lump formed in my throat as I called Darren my brother, he's not my brother. He is my enemy. The person I resent the most. "Damn, I told you that you married a rat, y'all don't deserve happiness, you can't have kids" said Darren "actually we have two children" retaliated Levi, I smiled at the fact that Levi was standing up for me

"No way! How? And how many?" Asked Darren "two beautiful twin girls, we adopted them, Phoenix and Kenzie-Leigh" I replied, Darren laughed and sat up "what stupid sissy names, damn" commented Darren, Levi clenched his jaw. "Let me ask you a question" began Levi, Darren raised an eyebrow "why do you care so much about Nico's life when all you're going to do is make stupid, disgusting insults about all of it? At least he's more successful than you! All you do is act like you're so big and make homophobic comments, leaving your life as an ignorant asshole when in reality you're lonely and sad, I'll have you know I saved your life, you almost died in that OR, twice and I prevented that so excuse me if I'm angry because you think gay people are good for nothing pieces of shit, because I've just proved that we aren't" continued Levi

I felt a smirk spread across my face as Levi continued to lecture my asshole of a brother "yeah you saved my life and all that jazz but you married my brother and left me with a shit load of scars and a huge ass debt to pay off" replied Darren "you're the one that stumbled into the hospital practically begging me for my help" retaliated Levi, Darren sighed in frustration "that was before I knew you were gay" said Darren, I shook my head "you know what Darren? You're a dick. I'll have you know that I will kick you out of this hospital, you don't deserve this sort of care because you are a good for nothing homophobic piece of shit, I have no idea how you even have a chance at success and I don't have a clue as to why anyone would love you which explains why you don't yet have a family, yeah I'm gay im proud of it too and perhaps you should stop being so damn homophobic and realise there is nothing wrong with gay people or anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community, we are successful, we find love and start families and we celebrate who we are. You can act like a child all you want but I am not gonna stand here and let my homophobic asshole of a brother get in the way of the happiness I deserve so I suggest you shut up and deal with the fact that you're here, perhaps show a little respect and for gods sake be grateful I swear to god Darren Michael Kim, you have spent your whole life being a spoilt brat and I'm not having it any more, you are not 17 years old, your ten years older get over it god" I lectured

Darren went silent for a while before sighing and getting out of his bed, approaching me, anger filling his eyes "how dare you talk to me like that" said Darren through gritted teeth, he clenched his jaw and his fists, then before I could breathe, he punched me in the face, then the stomach, then he tackled me to the floor and kicked me, I didn't have time to move his actions were way too quick, I saw Levi run off and come back with someone, I think Dr Webber. I wasn't sure my vision was blurred, I taste blood.

I heard shouting "get off him! Sir please!" I felt one more kick and then darkness...

Hey guys!

So this chapter was a lil shorter than the others but that's because I wanted to add some tension and drama and yeah.

I just wanna let y'all know that it doesn't matter whether you're gay, straight, bisexual, transgender etc, you are perfect inside and out, I don't want to have to add violence or homophobia in this but I wanted to make it clear that it doesn't matter who you are, what your sexuality is or what your gender is, you are you. And you are perfect no matter what anyone says.
