Lan WangJi's life, part 2

14:41, 3 November 2020

Wei WuXian tested Lan WangJi's self control every day. He was a infuriating, irreverent, reckless, and completely irresistible.

But did Wei WuXian really have to push Lan WangJi down and to lay fully on top of him, cupping his mouth with his hand, just to hide? It wasn't fair. Lan WangJi could hardly breathe, the scent of Wei WuXian enveloping him, the feel of Wei WuXian's long, slender limbs against his making him dizzy even as Lan WangJi lay down. Some of Lan WangJi 's consternation must have shown on his usually immobile face, and Wei WuXian responded with glee.

"Er-gege," Wei WuXian whispered, and Lan WangJi lost his ability to breathe for a moment. It sounded so intimate, so playful, so erotic, which the wicked look in Wei WuXian's eyes didn't help.

"Er-gege," Wei WuXian whispered again, his voice hot against Lan WangJi's ear, and he had to close his eyes.

"Er-gege..."

Lan WangJi could no longer bear it and he flipped them around. "Anymore, and you will be silenced."

As his hands were holding both of Wei WuXian's, braced against the ground, the threat was clear, he could only use his lips for it. They both froze, their eyes locked on each other. But the moment was broken when danger appeared and they had to take action. But the feel of Wei WuXian lying under him, wouldn't leave Lan WangJi, and he began to hope.

Then it all came crashing down.

They were visiting Lotus Pier, Wei WuXian's childhood home, and Wei WuXian took him on a tour around the place. Reminiscing, Wei WuXian climbed a tree, describing a moment from his childhood, and without warning leapt down, Lan WangJi reacting just in time to catch him. Wei WuXian clung to him with both arms, both stunned for a moment, unable to move.

Eventually, Wei WuXian continued their tour and their steps lead them to the ancestral hall of Lotus Pier, where Lan WangJi bowed in front of Wei WuXian's adoptive parents. Wei Ying, do you know what this means? Are you presenting me to the spirits of your parents?

Then came a harsh voice. "I don't care if you act so shamelessly outside, but don't you dare fool around inside our ancestral hall, before my parents' spirits!"

"Shamelessly?" Wei WuXian asked, turning around to face Jiang Cheng, his adoptive brother.

Jiang Cheng pointed outside, "Mess around outside however you want, whether under a tree or on a boat, hugging or otherwise! Get out of my sect, get out of anywhere my eyes can see!"

Lan WangJi felt his heart stop, had Jiang Cheng seen them?

He almost missed the harsh words Jiang Cheng flung into his direction, but he didn't miss Wei WuXian's angry reply. "Jiang WanYin, you... apologize right now."

"Apologize? For what? For exposing your thing for each other?"

"HanGuang-Jun is only my friend—what do you think we are?!"

Lan WangJi froze. HangGuang-Jun. He had been dreaming but now it was over. The formal title. Friend. That word. How such a kind word could hurt so much.

Lan WangJi's head bowed. He would cherish Wei WuXian forever, and would try to be what Wei WuXian needed him to be, even if it meant never being more than what they were at that moment.

The next time Wei WuXian offered Lan WangJi a drink, he accepted. Perhaps it would help Lan WangJi forget his painful one-sided love for Wei WuXian. With relief, Lan WangJi let his head fall to the table, as his consciousness fled away after just half a cup of the alcohol, just as they both knew it would. Wei WuXian would take care of him, was his final thought.

When he came to, it was to sensations and sounds he had never experienced before. His hand was around something hard and hot, pulsing in his hand, and it felt like someone had a hand around his core, and was stroking it with a trembling hand. What...? And Wei WuXian's unbridled moans of pleasure rang in his ears. Wei Ying?!

Lan WangJi's gasped, trying to stop his hand, to stop his pleasure spinning out of control, but he was too far gone. He panted, feeling something rush closer, something inexplicable, unescapable, unstoppable. Then...

"Lan... Lan Zhan, w-wait, I..." Wei WuXian groaned, then Lan WangJi felt him shudder and something wet and hot splashed between their bellies, and Lan WangJi let out a guttural moan, and he let go in that one helpless moment, convulsing in Wei WuXian's hot hand.

Lan WangJi's head was buried into Wei WuXian's chest, his warm body atop Wei WuXian, his mind blank, his body limp. He could smell fresh soap and feel his own wet hair cling to his naked back. Wei WuXian's hand still held him below, the other arm around his back, keeping him close. Then Wei WuXian placed a small kiss on Lan WangJi's hair, and his heart almost stopped.

"Lan Zhan... Are you listening?"

"Mn."

"I have to tell you something." Wei WuXian breathed lightly before speaking, "Lan Zhan, thank you."

Lan WangJi froze. Thank you? They had joined like this, and Wei WuXian thanked him as if Lan WangJi had just passed him a dish at the table. Thank you? Had it been just a physical release for Wei WuXian? Was that what he was thanking Lan WangJi for?

"In these two lives, you've helped me a lot. I know you're... really nice to me. You're really great! Apart from thank you, I don't know what else to say to you... Anyways, towards you, I feel... I feel..."

Lan WangJi hardly heard Wei WuXian's rambles, those two words ringing in his ear. Thank you. He pushed Wei WuXian away.

In silence, the two stared at each other for a long time. The first to move was Lan WangJi.

His face was pale, but his eyes were clear. He first picked up a white piece of clothing from the ground to cover Wei WuXian, and then went to find something for himself.

Lan WangJi wanted to return to Wei WuXian's arms, and stay there forever. He wanted to lick the mess they had made on Wei WuXian's stomach off of him. He wanted to suck that hard, throbbing part of Wei WuXian into his mouth and make him moan out those sounds he had been making earlier. He wanted... he wanted! He wanted it all so badly, he couldn't bear hearing Wei WuXian's thank yous, and apologies and lukewarm sentiments. Couldn't bear it!

"Lan Zhan, you're... awake?"

Lan WangJi turned away and closed his eyes, reeling from this new blow. Wei WuXian had thought he wouldn't remember it. That he could satisfy his curiosity, or lust, or whatever it was, and Lan WangJi wouldn't remember it. Thank you.

"Mn."

Wei WuXian dressed hastily, stopping Lan WangJi's hand, when he reached out to him involuntarily to help clean up the mess. "You don't have to touch me."

Lan WangJi heard the shame in Wei WuXian's voice and died again on the inside.

The innkeeper interrupted them as their antics had flooded the inn, and when she was leaving, Wei WuXian asked for another room. Now he didn't even want to share a room. Why couldn't he have what they had been until now? He only asked for so little. Despondently, Lan WangJi heard Wei WuXian leave.

Lan WangJi cleaned himself mechanically, dressed, and sat on the bed. Little by little he regained some balance. He couldn't leave things like that. Not even if it meant crossing some line they shouldn't. He had to talk to Wei WuXian. He rose, determined and pale, only to find that Wei WuXian wasn't in the inn.

There was only one place Wei WuXian could be going to, the Gunyin temple, the place their investigations had lead them. Lan WangJi came close to cursing. What was he going there alone for? Did he want to get killed?!

When Lan WangJi caught up with Wei WuXian, he was at the temple surrounded by enemies, and Jin GuangYao, the villain behind it all, was holding a thin metal wire to Wei WuXian's throat. Lan WangJi was ready to do anything to stop that wire into ending Wei WuXian's life.

"Lan Zhan! Lan WangJi! HanGuang-Jun! Back then, I-I really wanted to sleep with you!"

The courtyard full of people froze, unable to believe their ears, Lan WangJi included. He couldn't even breathe. What did he mean?

Jin GuangYao's hands loosened with the shock, and the string fell. As soon as he felt the stinging at his neck disappear, Wei WuXian threw himself at Lan WangJi.

"Lan Zhan, did you hear what I said?!"

"... Young Master Wei, it certainly isn't the best time and place to say such words," Lan XiChen said, gesturing at the dire situation they were in.

But Wei WuXian didn't care. He tugged Lan WangJi into the temple and into a corner. Lan WangJi followed like in a dream, then in rising hope and joy, as Wei WuXian's love confession came tumbling from his lips.

As if on cue, a gust of wind blew out all the candles, and in the cover of darkness, Lan WangJi finally braved to do what he had wanted to do for so long and kissed Wei WuXian.

When he had to surface for air, what came out was his response to Wei WuXian's confession, inelegant, unplanned, heartfelt, unstoppable.

"... fancy you..."

Wei WuXian hugged him tight. "Yes!"

"... love you, want you..."

"Yes!"

"Cannot leave you... do not want anyone but you... it cannot be anyone but you!"

Lan WangJi repeated over and over again the words Wei WuXian said to him, his voice and his body trembling at the same time. Lan WangJi thought his heart would leap out of his chest, he forgot he was in a temple, surrounded by enemies, and that they could die any moment. All that mattered was getting the words out, to tell Wei WuXian finally how he felt about him, and with each word, the arms Wei WuXian had wrapped around Lan WangJi tightened, almost making him unable to breathe.

When the candles were relit, Lan WangJi finally remembered where they were. He looked around in a daze, barely registering the torrential rain outside the temple.

Everyone had followed them into the temple, it seemed, and now had their backs turned to them, even their enemies, whether out of discretion or disgust, he neither knew nor cared. He turned back to look at Wei WuXian, who gave him a radiant smile, and a little laugh. Then Wei WuXian settled into Lan WangJi's lap as if he never intended to leave, and that was perfectly fine for Lan WangJi.

When the battle was finally over, and all the secrets and lies and plots to pin all what had happened thirteen years ago on Wei WuXian had come out, Lan WangJi was almost giddy with happiness.

He was beyond caring that now the whole of cultivation world knew he was in love with Wei WuXian and that Wei WuXian was in love with him. His brother XiChen knew. Wei WuXian's adopted brother Jiang Cheng knew. The heads of all the important sects knew. None of it mattered. The only thing that mattered was that he was with Wei WuXian, and would be with him forever.

Lan WangJi took one last look around the wrecked temple, took hold of Wei WuXian's hand and together they slipped out of the temple.

They had the rest of their lives to begin. And some catching up to do.

Some hours later, behind an obliging bush beside the main road, Lan WangJi and Wei WuXian were struggling to get their breaths back. Lan WangJi was overcome, his heart about to crack open with the weight of his love, his long pent up passion finally, momentarily, gloriously sated. It wasn't perhaps the surroundings he would have chosen for their first time, but they hadn't been able to wait a moment longer. Lan WangJi hand't held back, couldn't have held back, his desire like a dam releasing, and he had thrust into Wei WuXian until Wei WuXian begged for mercy, even as his hands were pulling Lan WangJi closer.

"... Does it feel good? Inside of me?" Wei WuXian finally asked, his voice languid.

"Mn."

Wei WuXian turned to look at Lan WangJi, his eyes widening. "That good? So good you had to ravage me for an hour beside a busy road? So good that you're even now thinking when you can do it again, aren't you? So good you want to take me again and again until I can't even walk, don't you?"

"Mn."

"Could you forget what I said before? About wanting to sleep with you everyday? How about every four days?" Wei WuXian bargained, shifting his sore behind a little on the hard ground.

"Everyday means everyday."

A/N:

Much of this and the preceding chapter is from the novel, trying to capture what Lan WangJi must have felt during these iconic scenes. If you haven't read the novel yet, I highly recommend it. There are so many amazing scenes in it which I couldn't include in this two part recap of their love story. And you really need to read the novel to find out what Wei WuXian was feeling when he tortured poor Lan WangJi's heart so thoughtlessly.

Please read this excellent translation here: https://exiledrebelsscanlations.com/gdc-chapter-1/

Please watch the drama in official links only. Tencent video on youtube has all 50 episodes with English subtitles, and has just begun to air the 20 special episodes, specially created for the international audience. Below is the link to the first of the original episodes.https://youtu.be/BfKhREVFLkQ

The gif is from one of the scenes I had to skip here, which takes place right after Jiang Cheng has thrown Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi out of Lotus Pier.

The following chapters are what I imagine their lives are after they have confessed their love for each other and set off to conquer evil together.
