A young, handsome prince was staring at the lonely Isle of the Lost from a window in his castle while Lumiere took his measurements.

King Beast and his wife, Queen Belle, entered the room, Belle's arm wrapped around her husband's. "How is it possible that you're going to be crowned king next month? You're just a baby," Beast said to Ben, his first and only son.

"He's turning 16, dear," Belle reminded him.

"Hey, pops," Ben greeted quietly.

"16? That's far too young to be crowned king. I didn't make a good decision until I was a least 42," Beast said.

Belle scoffed. "Uh, you decided to marry me at 28."

"Ah, it was either you or a teapot," he joked, Ben chuckling slightly as well. However, when he saw the look on his wife's face, he quickly added, "Kidding, I'm only kidding."

"Mom, Dad..." Ben said seriously, trying to take a step forward, only to be stopped by Lumiere.

"Ah!" Lumiere exclaimed, holding him in place.

"I've chosen my first official proclamation. I've decided that the children on the Isle of the Lost be given a chance to live here in Auradon," he stated nervously.

Before his parents, specifically his father, could shoot down his idea, he quickly continued, "Everytime I look out to the island, I feel like they've been abandoned." He walked towards his parents, much to Lumiere's frustration.

"The children of our sworn enemies? Living among us?" Beast asked, his tone slightly heated.

"We start out with a few at first, only the ones who need our help the most," Ben explained. "I've already chosen them."

"Have you?" Beast's tone rose.

Belle placed her hand on his arm to calm him down. "I gave you a second chance. Who are their parents?" she asked her son.

"Cruella De Vil...Jafar...Evil Queen...and Maleficent," he said nervously.

Lumiere yelped at Ben's words, then bowed and quickly ran out of the room.

"Maleficent! She is the worst villain in the land!" Beast yelled.

"Dad, just hear me out here!" Ben pleaded.

"I won't hear of it. They are guilty of unspeakable crimes," he replied stubbornly.

"Dad, their children are innocent. Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life? Dad?" Ben said convincingly.

After a moment, Beast sighed. "I suppose their children are innocent."

"Well, well done," Belle whispered to Ben. "Shall we?" she asked her husband, gesturing for them to leave.

After they did, Ben looked out to the Isle of the Lost once more, wondering about the children who lived on the island and if his decision would be the right one. In truth, every logical part of him said it would be a bad idea. But there was a small feeling within his heart that told him his plan would change his life in a way he'd never expect.

And it's feelings like those which always lead to the greatest things in life.
