Chapter 9

*Ryuua's POV*

We had been here for officially 3 months and we were training again.

"Kyaaahhh!!" I cried while running at Shikamaru with my katana.

He blocked it with his kunai and took out some senbons needles he threw than and I blocked them with my blade.

"Hah, little slow there Shikaaa!" I teased laughing and he just smirked.

I wondered what he was smirking at then I froze still. I dropped my katana and sighed. I looked down to see I was caught in his shadow possession jutsu.

"Well, maybe im not all that slow and lazy." He moved forward and I did the same.

He did this until we were inches away from each other's faces. I could hear the others laughing and grinning in the background but I wasn't paying attention.

I felt the heat rush to my face and I could hear my heart beating in my chest.

Is-is he going to ki-

I was lost in his grey- brown eyes for a second before he smirked and released the jutsu.

"Don't underestimate lazy people, we're good at some things." And with that he turned away to go sit under a tree.

I stood for a second, still replaying the moment in my head. I'm so stupid! I actually thought that he was going to do that? I shook my head and realised everyone was staring at me.

Shit! They must think the same thing! I'm fucking bright red! Before anyone said anything I turned on my heel and ran into the forest until I found an open patch of grass.

"I'm. An. Idiot" I flopped back on the grass and sighed for like 5 minutes.

After a while I sensed someone's chakra and sighed again.

"I know your there." As I said that Umi emerged from the trees and sat down next to me.

"Why did you run away?"  She asked concerned.

"Coz I'm a fucking idiot." I threw my arms in the air as I sat up.

"Your not! How are you?" She reasoned.

"Because I- I thought he was going to kiss me okay!" I barked falling back to the ground.

"We all did" she sighed and spoke softly.

"Sorry for shouting, I guess I just, I dunno, he just UGH!" I flailed my arms and she laughed.

"Boy problems huh? Well he's a tease, don't take it to heart, he'd be lucky to get to kiss you! Im sure he didn't mean to, forget about it." She smiled helping me up. I pulled her into a hug and smiled back at her.

"Come on I bet they're worried, running off like that. What are we gonna do with you!" She laughed as we walked back to the training fields.

*Shikamaru's POV*

I brought her closer so our faces were inches apart. I had no idea what was running through my mind but I did it anyway.

There's something about her and I don't know what. She was like me, lazy, found everything a drag and she always watches clouds.

I didn't like her that way, I know that, but I did it anyway.

Our faces were inches away and I saw her blush and I knew I should have stopped. I could hear the others gasp and laugh, but I didn't break the jutsu.

"Don't underestimate lazy people, were good at some things." And with that I turned and walked to lay under a tree.

"What a drag! What was I thinking?"

She probably didn't think anything of it.

I looked over as she ran through the forest. What?

I looked over to see Umi run after her.

"Hey shika! What just happened?" Yuki and Choji ran up to me.

"I don't know." I replied sighing.

"Well we thought you were going to kiss her!" Choji blurted out.

"I know." I sat up and Yuki tilted her head to the side.

"I don't know what I was thinking, I guess I didn't think actually."

"The first time I've ever heard 'Shika the genius' say that before." Yuki beamed and I shook my head at her.

"Well, why did you do it?" Choji sat down.

"I don't know, something about her I guess." I replied.

"So you like her!" Yuki asked excitedly.

"No! I- I don't, I dunno. She's a close friend that's all." I told her.

"Aww, you could have been my OTP!" She whined and Choji laughed at her.

"Well they're back, I'm off to go see her. Later shika! Oh and remember, if you ever wanna like her just know that Ryuamaru is always my ship!" And with at she ran over to Umi and Ryuua.

"Hey shika, things will be fine so don't worry." Choji assured before opening a bag of chips.

"Yeah, hope your right Choji,  things will be troublesome if not." I sighed laying back to watch the clouds.

*Ryuua's POV*

After Umi and I came back, Yuki ran up and told me about what Shikamaru said. I smiled as I found out he didn't mean to, now things won't have to be awkward.

"So it was a misunderstanding?" Umi asked still a little confused.

"Seems like it!" Yuki smiled and I smiled back at her.

The others nodded and went back to sparing. I sat on the side lines watching Yuki and Kiba have a taijutsu battle.

"Wanna get ramen later?" Naruto came bounding over to me and Umi.

"Of course! Wanna invite the rest of the guys?" Umi offered.

"Yeah! I'll go ask shika and Cho-" he began but I cut him off.

"I'll go ask them." I stood up and Umi looked at me cocking her head to the side.

"You sure?" She asked as I turned to walk as I turned them.

I looked back and smiled, " I'm sure" and with that I walked over to shika and Choji.

"Hey Choji! Shika! We're going out for ramen after training, wanna come?" I asked smiling.

*Shikamaru's POV*

I was watching the clouds and relaxing when Choji nudged me.

"It's Ryuua." He said and I sat up slowly.

Don't be a idiot Shikamaru, don't make things awkward.

"Hey Choji! Shika! We're going out for ramen after training, wanna come?" She smiled as if nothing happened.

I smiled at her, she always acts like nothing's bothering her, she's calm.

"Ramen! Count me in!" Choji cheered and she laughed.

"Shika?" She turned to look at me but didn't meet my eyes.

"Oh yeah sure." I told her and she grinned, planning something.

"Okay, good, cool, great.. Excellent" she taunted.

I raised and eyebrow and Choji looked to me.

"What?" She said innocently holding her hands up confused.

"Anyway, later. Oh and I forgot to say."She began walking away smirking. "Your paying." And before we could argue she set off running, laughing, towards the group.

She high fived Umi and Yuki. Then turned and gave us a peace sign as ino TenTen and hinata smiled back.

" ugh, we fell for it Choji." I said getting up.

"Yeah, well at least we get food." He tried to lighten things but I shook my head chuckling.

"Food that we have to pay for." I told him and he sighed while nodding.

"So then he went all fan boy and stalked her for a week." Yuki exclaimed as Ryuua put her head in her hands.

"Why do you need to tell everyone Yuki?" She groaned as everyone laughed.

Yuki just finished telling us about a guy called Tora who had a huge crush on Ryuua. He apparently stalked her until she had to tell him she didn't like him.

We had finished ramen, that the guys paid for, and were now back in the Tenji clans house where Umi, Yuki and Ryuua were now living.

Me and Ryuua hadn't really talked since the whole thing in the training grounds, but at least things weren't really awkward.

"Right, we better go, the academy is tomorrow so we should get some rest." Ino said as the others started to leave.

As everyone was leaving Ryuua pulled me aside when they were distracted.

"Shika, come here." She said pulling me to what I guessed was her room.

"Yeah, what's up?" I asked as she sat down on her bed and I leaned against the door.

"About earlier.. Sorry for running away like that." She said looking down. My eyes widened. Why was she apologising? If anything it should be me who's apologising.

"It's okay, it wasn't you, it was me."

"No. Yuki told me it was a misunderstanding, I thought... I just.. Umm" she muttered and I just looked at her softly.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I thought you were going to kiss me!" She blurted out before covering her hand with her mouth. I just laid my head back on the door.

"So did I." As I said that's she looked completely shocked.

"W-what?"

"I wasn't thinking, trust me it's not like I was throwing my self at you or anything." I said in defence and she laughed.

"Glad we got it cleared up. Shall we forget it and move on, to make it less awkward?" She suggested.

"Yeah, well I best go. See ya tomorrow." I said and she nodded. I left the room and saw Yuki and Umi staring at me intently.

"I didn't do anything! What a drag, all we did was clear something up." I told them before leaving.

I could hear them bombarding her with questions and I just shook my head.

Glad we got things cleared up. I still don't know... What made me do that?

AWWW my first romancy scene!

I feel a ship coming on! ;)
