Chapter 13 - Shanks»»--⍟--««

You continued to gape at your son but the second you hear him whimpering you quickly got up and gently pulled him to your chest.

"Kid... What's wrong?" You whispered as you brush your son's hair.

He didn't say anything as he buries his face on the crook of your neck. You sighed as you tried your best to calm him down.

One look was enough for Shanks, he quietly stood up and start placing the plates and utensils over to the dishwasher.

You hummed a soft lullaby as you felt your son shivering again. Kid continued to whimper and clutch onto you like you're suddenly gonna disappear.

"There, there. I won't leave you, Kid." You whispered again as to soothe your son.

Shanks pointed towards the living room as he also carried Luffy and started to walk over to the couch.

You slowly stood up and followed them, still humming a tune so that your son would relax.

Once you were seated on the couch beside Shanks, Kid has already calmed down a bit. Although, he wouldn't let go of you.

"Hm... So your son can control utensils?" Shanks mumbled a bit as he observed your son.

You sweatdropped a bit at his guess but couldn't disagree with it since that was what you saw a while ago in the kitchen.

"I guess so..." You whispered back as Kid rest his head onto your stomach, probably feeling tired from the sudden use of his powers.

Shanks just snickered as he played with his son. Luffy was awfully quiet once he saw your son crying. He was just staring in confusion at the scene, seeming to not be bothered that he was hit by utensils a couple of minutes ago.

"K-Kif?" (K-Kid?) Luffy pouted as he crawled over to your form.

You almost wanted to coo at the cuteness. Guess your son would have a friend from now on.

Shanks wasn't able to stop himself as he took out his phone and videotaped everything once again. You facepalmed as you watch the redhead acting like a fangirl that was witnessing her idol.

You didn't know if it would be safe to let Luffy hold onto Kid but when you saw your son relaxed on your grip, you guessed that it would be fine.

You quietly hummed as you placed Kid down on the couch, letting Luffy hug him.

You smiled as you watch the occurrence. Your son was tense from the sudden affection but nonetheless, he didn't attempt to move.

"Our sons would be the best of friends!!" Shanks cheered as he stared at his phone.

"I doubt that." You sighed.

Kid is feeling calm now and it seems that he has mellowed to Luffy. But you're not sure if he's just used to all the hugging by now.

You ruffled both their heads as you carefully placed them down on the mat. The kid quickly held into your feet as he looked up at you.

You didn't know what to do so you just gave him a grin and a thumbs up.

What great parenting.

You turned on the television and let the two children play. Luffy giggled as he threw a softball towards your son.

They'll most likely be rivals than friends.

You cast a glance at Shanks and the man quickly got the point as he sat closer to you. He became more serious as we continued to observe the brats.

"He'd need to be properly trained," Shanks muttered as he tapped on his phone.

"I guess as much." You grumbled as your mind went back to the event that happened awhile ago.

No matter the ridiculousness of what powers someone might obtain, it could still be dangerous when left untrained. Especially when your son first used his powers to attack other people.

You would have scolded him for what he did but his teary face just made you stop.

Damn brat pulling on your heartstrings.

"Good thing I have it recorded," Shanks informed you as he placed his phone in front of your face.

You frowned as you watch the video. It was focused on you and Luffy but Kid could still be seen in the side.

"Your son seems to be a jealous one." Shanks snickered as he pulled the phone back again after the video was finished.

"Of course he'd be protective." You sighed as you took a peek at your son. Kid was watching the cartoon that was playing and is totally ignoring Luffy who continued to throw the ball on his head. You smiled at him a bit when he glances at you.

The action seemed to calm him down as he went back to staring at the television.

"Y/N, you haven't exactly told me how you found him," Shanks whispered, feeling happy when he saw the interaction between you and your son.

Shanks have known you ever since you first tried to assassinate him. It was love at first sight, well, for him. The event was something you also enjoyed for the most part but the sudden turn of events made you remember dark things from when you were young. Still, the occurrence was one of the days you hold dear to your heart.

-- A couple of years ago --

Shanks laughed as he swallowed down his mug of beer. His crew scattered around the bar, enjoying themselves. His trusted partner, Benn, leaned on a wall as he spectates everyone and making sure that they weren't doing anything stupid.

The red-haired man relished himself on the front as he downed every alcohol that was given to him. The owner grumbling in frustration as he knows that he has to order a lot more bottles because the red gang would surely buy all his stock.

Benn puffed out the cigarette smoke, noticing a lone woman entering the place. She is surely pretty, he would say that. But once he saw her glimmering eyes, the man quickly realized that the woman isn't here to have fun. Well, not the fun that would be considered normal.

As soon as she was out of sight, Benn quickly focused back on the crew. Sighing when he saw Yasopp dancing on top of a table, the others whistling and throwing coins at him. Why did I even join?

The night was still early as the place soon got crowded. Too crowded. Shanks couldn't see half of his crew but if he has to guess, they're probably on a motel somewhere. Although he can still see the others, they made sure to stay close to their boss.

The redhead grunted when he noticed that his mug is empty. He would have to wait to get another drink since the barman is a couple of ways away, talking to other customers.

Shanks was just about to doze off when a bottle of alcohol was placed in front of him. And it wasn't any alcohol. It was an expensive and savory kind. The one that he probably has stashed on a secured cellar, with passwords and all that shit.

He glanced at the hand, noticing that it was small and delicate looking. The redhead trailed his eyes along it as he finally gazed at the godsent that has offered the bottle to him. Well, he hopes that it's for him.

"Care for a drink?"

Shanks gawked a bit as he stared at the being that is standing beside him. Beautiful hair, glistening eyes, smirking lips, just standing there confidently like she owns the place. The redhead almost wants to believe that the bar is owned by her but he has been to this place countless times now. And he must be blind if he hadn't seen the woman here before.

"Mister?"

The red-haired man was snapped out of his trance as the smooth velvety voice caught his ear. He coughed a bit before getting his original self back. Shanks smiled at the woman, gazing at her with half-lidded eyes as he always does. If it was anyone else, they would have probably fallen in love with him as soon as he looked at them like that. But this woman is different.

"Sure. I'd love the company." Shanks replied, still staring at her. A bit hopeful that she isn't just a figment of his imagination since he is quite drunk.

"I would have thought you'd love the booze first." The woman chuckled as she sat down on the chair beside him.

The redhead felt his face flush a bit when he heard her. Gorgeous and has a sense of humor. And from the looks of it, good taste in alcohol as well. Could he ask for more?

"Here." She smirked at him as she refilled his glass with some of the liquor she brought.

Shanks nod in thanks. He would have said something but he doesn't trust himself enough that he wouldn't embarrass himself in front of her.

"So, why is someone as handsome as you, drinking alone?"

The redhead coughed at the unexpected compliment. The woman quickly drew closer to him and pat his back.

"You okay?"

"Yeah, sorry about that."

The woman just gave him a small smile as she went back to enjoying her drink. The question she previously asked, completely forgotten. Or so she thought.

Shanks continued to stare at the goddess sitting beside him. Not knowing if he should respond to her question. He almost wanted to slap himself for ruining a perfect chance.

"Shouldn't I be asking you that?"

"Hm?"

"How come, a beauty like you, is here on the bar all alone?" Shanks smoothly said as he brought the glass to his lip, still staring at her.

The woman blushed at the sudden question that was thrown back at her. The redhead caught the action and internally cheered at the expression she was wearing.

"Well, I'm not alone anymore, am I?" She clapped back as she smirked at the handsome man sitting beside her. Feeling a bit playful, she made sure to wink at him.

'So we're just gonna flirt at each other?' Shanks thought as he gapes at the gesture. Damn, that was hot.

"Shanks. Shanks Le Roux. But you can call me yours if you like."

"You can call me Shiro. My Shanks." The woman played along as she smirked at him.

The two continued to drink together, making sure that they threw a mischievous question or phrase here and there. Hence to say, they were getting along really well.

Although, the sudden atmosphere disappeared when the woman's phone rang, meaning that a message was sent to her. The red-haired man wasn't able to catch the sound as he was busy downing his drink.

"Well, it was fun talking with you. But I better finish my job now."

Shanks whipped his head at Shiro. Quite disappointed when he saw her standing up, thinking that she would be leaving now. He enjoyed the time that he was with her and from the looks of it, his crew knew as well. They left him all alone throughout the night, though he would still catch them on the corner of his eyes. But, for the most part, they left the two alone.

"Would I see you here again?" The redhead questioned as she stood in front of him.

"No. You won't." Shiro proclaimed as she quickly draws a blade hidden underneath her dress.

Shanks swiftly dodged the incoming blade. Quietly cursing when it hit the counter, breaking the bottle that they were drinking.

The bar erupted into screaming and chaos as everyone tried to push themselves towards the exit. His crew hurriedly brought out their weapons as well as they ready to help their boss. Although, they were quite shocked at the sudden turn of events.

"What is the meaning of this, Shiro?" Shanks seriously asked as he stared at the woman that he was drinking with a couple of seconds ago.

"Just what it looks like. I'm here to assassinate you." Shiro nonchalantly shrugged before dashing towards the redhead once again.

The clanging of blades was heard around as the two fought each other. They were both doing alright, no one having the upper hand as they are on even grounds. Although one is slightly disappointed and hesitant.

"You're not striking to kill," Shiro spoke out as she also notices her opponent's actions.

Shanks maintain his silence as he observes the woman's movements. Agile, light, ready to kill.

"You don't have to worry. I'm not doing this because of anything personal. I was simply hired to kill you. A woman has to make money, no?" Shiro informed the man. Hoping that would make his hesitance in giving her a good fight to go away.

"Well, can I at least know who is the lucky man that was able to hire a beautiful woman to kill me?" Shanks calmly asked as he forced a smile to appear on his face.

Shiro stood there for a second longer as she stared at the red-haired man. Of course, nothing is wrong in telling him who it is. He at least needs to know who wants him dead before he actually dies.

"Higuma."

"That bandit? Hm... Guess I didn't beat him up as much."

Shiro just shrugged before running towards the man once again, her blade ready to strike. She would be lying if she says that the thought of having such a strong opponent didn't excite her.

As the fight resumes, the Red Gang slowly drew closer to the second in command. Benn grumbled under his breath as he watches the ongoing battle. That woman was the one he saw entering the bar, he didn't give it much thought but he is now regretting not investigating more. The man didn't expect his boss to be the target.

They are infamous and have quite a lot of enemies, the cops being one of them. Though, he didn't think someone would still have the guts to face the crew when the cops can't even stop their havoc. And it's a lone woman nonetheless!

Benn just sighed in frustration before continuing to watch. He trusts his boss to get out of this alive. He doesn't need help. The crew will just have to observe while the fight is going on.

"Such a pity. I quite enjoyed your company." Shiro started a conversation with her opponent as she fought him.

"That makes two of us." Shanks smiled, feeling a bit more relieved that the woman doesn't have bad blood with him. Although, the blade that is swinging around him is not making the situation any good for them both.

Shiro smirked as she quickly dropped down and wiped the man's legs, making him painfully lay down on the floor. Shanks grunted at the sudden fall but his expression soon turned into surprise when the woman sat on top of his chest, her blade right at his throat.

'This position would have been appreciated in a different occurrence.'

The crew dashed towards the two, ready to stop the woman from bringing her blade deeper in their boss' neck. Though, they were abruptly stopped when a loud ringing was heard.

Shiro sighed in frustration before pulling her phone out, answering the call, and putting it in loudspeaker once she saw who the caller is.

"Shiro. It has been a while since I sent the go signal. What is happening there?" Higuma, the man who hired her, demanded.

"It's all done," Shiro replied as she stared at the still alive red-haired man that she is currently straddling.

"Heh~ Is it?"

"Yeah. He's dead." The woman replied. She knows that she is lying right now but her target is gonna die soon anyway. What's the point of telling the man that she is just in the procedure of finishing the job?

"Then, I'd just want to say that you're out."

Shiro tensed at the sudden proclamation ash she whipped her head towards her phone.

"What?"

"You're out. Good luck finding us 'cause I'm not paying you shit." Higuma laughed through the call.

Shanks and his crew are listening in to the conversation. They weren't actually going to eavesdropped but that is quite hard when the only sound being heard in the bar is their voices.

"..." Shiro maintained her silence as she felt the man continuing.

She has been backstabbed by a lot of clients. Shiro has experienced it quite a lot, and it was a reoccurring event than she would like. It seems that their continuous reason is that they don't want to share their money with a woman. The same woman that was able to kill the targets that they can't defeat.

It's ironic really. And quite pitiful.

Shiro made sure to pay those bastards back. Of course, it was quite a saddening event but it just means more people to kill and the money all hers for the taking. It benefits her more than they did.

Making her think why a lot of people still thought that it was fine to do that. Greedy bastards.

"Quite a shame since you are such a beauty. But money is money. Well then, have fun getting targeted by the remaining Red Gang." Higuma laughed obnoxiously before finally dropping the call.

Shiro just sat on top of her target for a couple of seconds before she slowly retracted her blade from the man's throat. No point in killing the redhead now that she knows she won't be getting paid.

"It seems that you are free to live another day." Shiro nonchalantly informed as she gently stood up and sheathed her sword.

The crew swiftly made way as the woman proceeds to walk out of the bar. Shanks stared silently at her back, quite surprised at the turn of events. And from the way she calmly responds means that it was a reoccurring incident.

"Wait! What's your name?" Shanks quickly called out as he slowly followed the woman before she can completely leave.

"Shiro." She replied as she glances back at him, one had on the exit.

"From what happened, do you really think I would believe that?" Shanks smirked as he stared at the beauty that is now going to escape from him.

"Hm... Why don't you find out?" Shiro smirked back as she saluted him mockingly. The woman running out of the place, ready to hunt some new bastards that dared to double-cross her.

The red-haired man was left to stand in the middle of the bar, gawking at the spot where the woman previously was. He could hear his crew laughing and whistling at him. Shouting about how whipped he was for the woman.

"Men!! We're gonna find out who that woman is!!"

AHHHH!!!

I love this chapter.

It doesn't particularly have too many Kid X Mom!Reader moments but I want to add how you and Shanks met.

And I absolutely didn't expect this to come out of my brain.

I'd probably add how you met your other friends. Mihawk for example ;)

Also... I kinda want the flashback to become a new story idea...

Like a Shanks X Reader story TT^TT

What do you guys think??

Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter just as much as I did!!

And is it just me, but is my writing style changing a bit?

Please Vote and Comment!!
