In the Rain
04:57, 16 June 20233rd Person POV
I am being suffocated by Alhaitham's tight hug.ย
"Alhaitham... please let me go..." I weakly breathed.
"Never."
"I can't breath."
"Oh. sorry Kaveh."
"It's okay..."
Alhaitham loosens his hug so I can breath, but he doesn't let go of me. I lean back, so I can look at Alhaitham's face while I talk.
"Why did you save me Alhaitham?"
"Because I need you."
"That can't be true Alhaitham... I just annoy you all the time, we fight whenever we see each other...." I look down at my my hands. The tips of my fingers are red and shaky. "You would be better off without me, Alhaitham." I whisper, raising my head to meet his eyes.
"No! Don't say that Kaveh! I need you! I need your presence! Your stupid smile, your dumb laugh, the way you fiddle with your hair and stick your tongue out when you're having trouble with a project. I need you Kaveh! I sit there in Alhaitham's arms, in shock at Alhaitham's words.ย
"Really?..."
"Yes Kaveh! I was so worried when I found your letter, I couldn't think straight. The thought of loosing you scared me so much!" There is nothing I can say to reply to the silver haired man.ย
"You're my sunshine Kaveh... I'm always happy when you're around me. Even if you do annoy me a lot, I enjoy it. I enjoy being annoyed by your weird little antics; I care about you Kaveh, I care about you so much it hurts..."
What did I just hear? Alhaitham cares about me? No. no, that's not possible...
"Pardon?"
"I care about you Kaveh.... I love you..." The words float sweetly into my ears.
Suddenly the world fell quiet, the sound of raindrops hitting rocks, leaves rustling in the wind, water flowing down stream. It feels like everything has stopped in place, and all I can hear are Alhaitham's words in my ears.
"I love you, Kaveh" Alhaitham repeats.
Those words sound so sweet and amazing to me, my heart feels like it's beating a thousand times a minute.
"Please don't leave Kaveh... Please don't leave me..." Alhaitham's voice is cracking from attempting to hold his tears back.
"I won't leave Alhaitham."
"Ever?"
"Never. I can't leave now that I've found my reason for staying." Tears are briming at my eyes, saying that one sentence felt relieving somehow. I had my reason. My Light.
"I love you too Alhaitham. I'm never leaving; not again." Tears falling from my eyes again, this time happy tears.
"Thankyou for saving me Alhaitham. I never would have found my light without you."
"Your light?"
"My light... You." I say lovingly, as I place my forehead against my green eyed housemate's.
"I love you Kaveh", Alhaitham says softly.
"I love you more Alhaitham", I gently whisper to my new found love.
We stay like that for a while; foreheads together, his arms around my waist, mine around his neck, sitting in the pouring rain.
"'Haitham... I think we should go home now." I quietly not wanting to ruin the moment.
"Why?"
"Because we might get colds from sitting out in the rain this long."
"True." Alhaitham states as he lets go of my waist, and stands up.
He extends a hand down to me in gesture to help me stand up. I take it happily, I try to stand but my legs collapse underneath me, and I fall once more. Luckily Alhaitham catches me before I hit the ground.
"Heh. Looks like I can't stand. My body must still be in shock from everything that's happened today." I say sorrily as I look down at my legs in shame.
"That's okay Kaveh. I wasn't expecting you to be able to stand anyways. Seeing how you just attempted suicide, and we both confessed to one another."
"But how will I get back to the house then?"
"I'll carry you, silly." says the silver haired sage, as he bends down. bending his knees so he doesn't break his back. He puts one arm under my legs and, the other on my back. He lifts me up with one swift movement, and carries me back to our house bridal style.
"I am so glad that all the stores are closed, and no one is put at the moment. It would have been so embarrassing to have people see me being carried by Alhaitham." I think to myself as I get carried through the streets of Sumeru City back to our house.
As we get to the house I see the door wide open. "Oh no, what if someone broke into our house while Alhaitham and I were having our moments." I think to myself. Then I spot the key left in the door knob. "Ahhh... Alhaitham must have run out the door when he realized I was going to un-alive myself." I realize as we reach the house.ย
Mehrak was waiting in the doorway for us to come home.
"Mehrak! Buddy!" I say my arms open for Mehrak to float into.
"Beep-Bop!!" The floating toolbox replies as he floats over to us and lands in my arms.
I give him a big hug. "I'm sorry that I tried to leave Mehrak..."
"Could you please let go of Mehrak, Kaveh. He's a lot heavier than you think, it's already hard enough to carry you all the way home."
"Oh sorry Alhaitham", I say as I let Mehrak go. He floats back up into the air and follows Alhaitham into the lounge room.
Everything was as we left it. Coffee spilt over my sketch pad, mug cracked on the floor, pens and pencils scattered here and there. All that was different, was my letter.ย Now looking a bit tear stained, and crumpled on the table.
Alhaitham laid me down on the couch and walked away.
"Where are you going Alhaitham?"
"To get some towels and make some warm milk. It'll they'll help us get warm".
"Okay, Thankyou Alhaitham."
"You're welcome, Kaveh."
