Chapter 28

18:49, 21 February 2020

5 WEEKS LATER:

Today's the day! Abel comes out of the incubator and they might let him come home. Tinsley and Jax Jax have been living together and everything has been prefect. Jax fully explained everything that the club does and even some of the issues that have been having. He told her about the Irishman being shot and the hit on the port commissioner. He told her about Bobby and the whole situation with Opie. From what Jax had told her, it was looking more and more like Opie had ratted them out. Opie claimed that Stahl is setting him up to look like a rat and that he would never do that to the club.

Tinsley loved Opie to death but even she had to agree thag it looks suspicious as hell that his home had been paid off and some of his debts had been paid down right around the time that was held by the feds.

Tinsley wasn't 100% sure how she felt about the things Jax did but she knew it's who he was. She had fallen in love with this gun slinging bad boy in leather and there was nothing she would change about it.

She was sitting in the office at TM filing some papers when Jax came in.

"Hey baby" Jax said.

"Hey you" said Tinsley.

"The doctor just called and said that he had taken Abel out of the incubator and he was doing great. He said that he will his rounds again at 2pm. If Abel is doing well and all his tests come back good, he said Abel would be able to come home today." Said Jax.

"Baby that amazing news!" Said Tinsley as she walked over to him.

He wrapped his arms around her and just held held her.

"Yes it is. Mom's out buying a whole bunch of welcome home shit to decorate the house as we speak. She said that even if he doesn't come home today, it will already be decorated for when he does." Said Jax.

"Fine by me" said Tinsley.

"I can't wait to have him home with us" said Jax.

"Me either baby." Said Tinsley.

"Anyway, I just wanted to give you and update. I gonna head over to the hospital at 1. Piney said he would cover the phones here if you want to come with me" said Jax.

"Try and keep me here" said Tinsley.

Jax kissed her on the lips and walked back out to the shop to finish working on the Camero that had came in needing a new window motor.

She could hardly believe it. With in a couple of hours, she could be bringing Abel home. She knew having him home was going to be a big adjustment for both her and Jax but she couldn't think of anything at the moment that would make her any happier. She had already informed Mr. Miles that she wouldn't be coming back to the diner. Working two jobs would be too much on her with Abel. She knew it was putting her dreams on hold but at the moment, Abel was the dream she had within her grasp and the one that meant the most.

Tinsley and Gemma had already decided that until Abel was older, he would hang out in the office with Tinsley while she worked. Tinsley wasn't going to argue that fact. They had already rearranged the office so there was room to a pack and play for him while he was here. Even though he wasn't her by blood, he was her by choice and she loved that little boy with every ounce of her being. She knew she would never be able to leave him with some nanny.

At 1:00, Jax came into the office with Piney. Tinsley gave him the run down of what needed to be done. When she bent over to pick up her purse, a bout of dizziness hit her. Grasping the desk to keep from falling, she righted herself when the dizziness was gone.

"Are you ok?" Asked Jax.

"Yea, just got dizzy there for a minute" said Tinsley. She hadn't ate this morning and had drank like 5 cups of coffee. She chalked the dizziness up to lack of food and an overdose of caffeine.

"Are you sure?" Jax asked.

"Positive! Let's go see our boy" said Tinsley.

She grabbed her purse and handed him the keys. She climbed up into the Tahoe and they headed off to Saint Thomas.

On the drive over, Tinsley asked Jax to stop at McDonald's so she could get something in her belly to dilute the caffeine. She got a cheeseburger with just ketchup, fries and a bottle of water. After eating, her stomach didn't feel like it was turning flips anymore. She made a mental note to eat if she was going to drink that much coffee.

They pulled into the lot at TM and walked directly to the NICU. When they got to Abel's room, he wasn't there. There was a baby in the there but wasn't Abel. They headed to the nursing station and and asked the nurse where Abel was.

"Oh I'm sorry. I thought Dr. Greene had informed you. We moved him to the regular pediatric floor since he as doing so good. Room PEDS 221." Said the nurse.

"No, he didn't mention it when I spoke with him. Thanks." Said Jax.

Taking Tinsley's hand, they made their way through the hospital to the wing that held the pediatric unit. Once inside the unit, they stopped at the nursing station to find out which direction to head to get to Abel's room.

When they walked in the room, Abel was laughing at something. Tinsley has read something saying that when babies laughed for no reason they were playing with the angels. She wondered just who Abel was playing with.

They walked over to the edge of the crib and both just looked at him. This was the first time they were seeing Abel outside of the incubator. He didn't have all the wires hooked to him and he looked like a normal little boy. Tinsley began to cry at the sheer joy she felt in just seeing him like this. She watched Jax. With a tentative hand, he touched Abel's hand with his finger. Abel gripped it. Tinsley saw tears spring into Jax's eyes.

Just then, there was a knock at the door. They both turned and saw Dr. Greene.

"Hey guys" said Dr. Greene.

"Hey Dr. Greene" said Tinsley.

"What would you say to carrying this little guy home?" He asked.

"Are you serious?" Asked Jax.

"Yes sir. All his tests came back good, he's breathing on his own, he's gained enough weight, and everything points to smooth sailing from here on out." Said Dr. Greene.

"Oh my god doc, that's the best news I've heard all day." Said Jax.

Tinsley's head was spinning. She couldn't believe this was actually happening. They were going to be able to take Abel home. They were finally going to be able to be a normal family. She looked up at Jax with tears in her eyes. She was just so happy.

She went to move towards Jax and got dizzy again. This time she wasn't able to catch herself and fell to the floor, bumping her head on the crib Abel was in.

Jax and Dr. Greene rushed to her side checking her out.

"Tinsley, are you ok"? Asked Jax.

She could hear him talking to her but she couldn't make herself answer him.

"I need a couple nurses in here" said Dr. Greene in to the speaker on the wall.

Nurses came in and examined Tinsley. They got her into a sitting position and examined her head. She had a bump on her head from her fall and Dr. Green thought it be best if she went down to the emergency department to get checked out.

As much as Jax didn't want to leave Abel, he knew he was in good hands and was fine. He needed to make sure Tinsley was going to be ok. The nurses wheeled Tinsley down to the emergency room and gave her a gown to change into. Since she had fainted, they wanted to do some blood work and run some test to make sure everything was ok. Jax had told them about her spell this morning and how she had said it was because he hadn't ate and had drank so much caffeine.

They came in and drew he blood and they checked her eyes and examined her head to make sure the bump hadn't caused a concussion. They were in the emergency room for what seemed like forever. Jax just wanted answers. He wanted to make sure she was ok. He had already called Gemma and told her what happened.

The emergency department doctor came into the room.

"Well it's looks like you don't have a concussion. Just a bump. For that you can take some regular strength Tylenol. Looking at your blood work, it looks like any other pain medicine is going to be out of the question. Congratulations Ms. Andrews, you're pregnant." Said the doctor.

"Pregnant" whispered Jax.

"Yes sir. We will need to do an ultrasound to determine exactly how far along but you're definitely pregnant" said the doctor as he looked in Tinsley direction.

Jax followed his direction and saw the biggest smile on Tinsley's face as tears streamed down each side.

"I'm pregnant?" She asked.

"Yes ma'am. Dr. Greene is on his way down with the ultrasound machine right now." Said the doctor.

"I can't believe it" said Jax.

"I can" said Tinsley.

Jax walked towards her and she scooted over in the bed, making room for him. He climbed into it with her and kissed her on the lips.

"From now on Ms. Andrews, lay off the caffeine and make sure you are getting enough nutrients. You shouldn't have any more spells as long as you take care of yourself." Said the doctor.

"Thanks doc" Tinsley said.

The doctor walked out of the room leaving Jax and Tinsley to themselves.

"I can't believe it baby" said Jax.

"I can. We weren't trying not to get pregnant so it was bound to happen. I won't complain though. This has got to be the best day of my life. We get to bring Abel home and we found out Abel's going be a big brother. I do things can get any better than this." said Tinsley.

"The best day of mine when when I met you" said Jax.

He kissed her gently on the mouth and held her tight. As they waitied for Dr. Greene to come, they discussed how to tell everyone that's she as pregnant.

"I think we keep this to ourselves until after we have Abel home." Said Tinsley.

"Sounds good to me" said Jax.

"Are you sure you won't mind keeping them secret?" asked Tinsley.

"No, I won't mind at all. We will tell everyone when we are ready" said Jax.

The curtain to the room slid open and Gemma walked in. She took in Tinsley's appearance.

"Are you ok sweetheart?" she asked.

"I'm fine Gemma. I drank too many cups of coffee on an empty stomach and got a little dizzy is all. I bumped my head and the doctor just wanted to make sure I didn't have a concussion" explained Tinsley.

"You scared me to death." Said Gemma.

"I'm sorry." Said Tinsley.

"No apologies. You got to start taking care of yourself. You have got to be in good health to take care of Abel." Said Gemma.

"You're absolutely right." Said Tinsley smiling.

"I always am" said Gemma joking.

"Hey mom, lets go get Tinsley some food while she waits for her papers" said Jax.

He needed to get her out of the room before Dr, Greene showed up. If he came in with an ultrasound machine, their secret wouldn't be theirs anymore.

"Sure baby. I need to talk to you anyway." And Gemma.

"I'll be back" said Jax

"I'll be right here waiting" said Tinsley.

Jax kissed her on the lips and walked to the cafeteria with Gemma.  While he was gone, Dr. Greene came in and done the ultrasound. According to what he saw, she looked to be about 6 weeks pregnant. He printed off a picture of the little blip on the screen and she quickly tucked it into her purse in case gemma and Jax returned. She would show Jax when they got home. While she waited, she did some quick math in her head and determined that she must have gotten pregnant that night Jax has fucked her against the wall of her apartment. She remembered that night like it was last night.  That was the night they had broken picture frames in the hall way. It was the first time they had sex unprotected. What are the odds Tinsley thought to herself.

The curtain to her room opened dragging her from her thoughts. It was one of the ER nurses with her discharge papers. In it was details for an upcoming appointment with Dr. Green and instructions to eat better and lay off the caffeine. After signing her paper, the nurse told her she as free to go. She got dressed and was walking out of the ER when Jax and Gemma came back.

"I got you a turkey club, no tomato, extra mayo, just like you like it." Said Jax.

"Thanks babe. I was on my way up to Abel's room. I'm all done here" said Tinsley.

"Ok. Let's go see our boy." Said Jax.

"I'll be up in a few minutes" said Gemma.

"Ok. See you then" said Jax.

As Tinsley and Jax got to Abel's room, Dr. Greene was checking Abel out.

"Hey Dr. Greene" said Tinsley.

"Hey darling." Said Dr. Greene.

"I need to ask a favor, if anyone else is in the room other than Jax and I, can you not mention the pregnancy? We want to surprise them" said Tinsley.

"No worries. My lips are sealed" said Dr. Greene.

"We really appreciate it" said Tinsley.

"You're welcome. How about we get these discharge papers in the works for this little guy?" Said Dr. Greene.

"We would absolutely love that." said Tinsley.

The doctor walked out of the room and went to start on the needed paper work. Gemma came in not long after that. Jax and Tinsley filled her in on what was going on with Abel and that he was definitely coming home today. Gemma immediately got on the phone and started arranging for food and music and everything else she could think of. Jax went downstairs to get Abel's carrier and diaper bag out of the car while they waited. Tinsley has ordered a black onesie with the SAMCO reaper on it. She had found the cutest little blue jeans and a pair of newborn white shoes. It was basically the same thing Jax wore on a daily basis minus the kutte, but she couldn't think of any other way for him to be dressed to come home.

Gemma pulled a blue baby hat out of her purse that had SAMCRO written across the front of it. Reaching over, she placed the little hat on Abel's head. He looked absolutely adorable.

Jax returned with the carrier and the diaper bag. Digging inside, Tinsley got out the clothes. She changed his diaper and got him dressed. She had to remove the hat to put his shirt on but she put it right back when he was done.

When Tinsley was done getting him dressed, Jax picked him up and held him. This was the first time Jax had held him and tears started to stream down his face. Tinsley's hearts as so full of joy that she too began to cry. She walked over to Jax and snuggled into his side, wrapping her arm around his waist and looking at Abel.

Gemma pulled her phone out and snapped a picture that neither of them knew she had taken.

It wasn't long before the doctor came back with Abel's discharge papers. He told Jax and Tinsley to keep a watch on his breathing and make sure he was eating enough and that if they had any questions, they could call him anytime of the day or night.

Hooking Abel into his carrier, the walked out of the hospital and to the Tahoe. It was time to go home.
